  1. I thought she should drop him too at one time. Then he got sick, and I felt sorry for him. Then I figured he probably wasn't going to live that long, but he's still alive. There could be any number of reasons that she would stay with him. There were probably a lot of good memories from their younger days. They have a daughter together. I think she did separate herself from him at the time when she was running for the Senate. I remember Chelsea doing a White House tour for TV when the First Lady normally did that. This was towards the end of his tenure as President. I think Hillary was barely mentioned. I think of their relationship like the fictional one in Primary Colors between John Travolta and Emma Thompson. They've inspired a lot of fiction, like Political Animals with Sigourney Weaver and Ciaran Hinds. Coming up soon is Graves, with Sela Ward and Nick Nolte.
  2. I mean, I know why... but you know, I'm a liberal keeping racism alive. (eyeroll) No, I meant that you were kidding that was written in a thread here. When anyone expresses hate, I ignore them. I still have several people on Ignore from a tv show that they ruined for me by repeating how much they hated one actor every time anyone said anything good about him. This experience should be entertaining for all of us, not give us anxieties, like Drumpf and his sniveling when he has to be in a room when he's not in control of the situation.
  3. He earned every percentage point, and much more. What the opposition idiots don't understand is that when you constantly attack someone, it just creates more sympathy for them among all the people who aren't deplorable. Most people don't like to see good people attacked by hate-mongering everything-phobic racists.
  4. From other sectors of this site, my understanding is that NBC was going to release it after the most recent debate, but instead, someone leaked it before the debate. They had been scouring their archives for material on Drumpf. People thought it was suspicious that NBC was reporting the leak 10 minutes after The Washington Post published. So it looks like it was all NBC.
  5. On Youtube, David Pakman, on his own channel: and Keith Olbermann on the GQ channel:
  6. News organizations figured out his Outrage/Headlines/Denial strategy a while back, but they keep covering it as news.
  7. The election is over for me. I've done my bit. Now it's up to the country to decide on the case of The Lady Versus The Drumpf:
  8. I'm hoping that debate happens next Wednesday, and that Chris Wallace starts channeling his father Mike, and roasts Drumpf.
  9. You're right. Thank you. It was so long ago. The odd thing was that allegations came out in the newspaper about both Obama's opponent in the primary and the general election. Sealed court documents were published in Jeri's case, and Brenda Sexton, Blair Hull's wife, and a writer, came out with her details. It looked to me and others that Axelrod was behind all that, Axelrod, wiki: I'm going to have to go back into the archives of a political forum to find out what was going on back then. I tried to do it with google searches, but didn't get very far. Here is the link to the consulting firm that both Dukakis and Obama used, you'll like this page; http://strategygroup.com/skrollr/index.php @Queena, the book that I was referring to is by David Mendell, Obama: From Promise to Power, (2007) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obama:_From_Promise_to_Power wiki and a great picture of Barack Obama as a kid with his grandfather on the beach:
  10. @Queena, in his early days, Barack Obama came to the attention of the Pritzkers, Newton Minnow, and others, who thought he was amazing, and encouraged him a great deal. When he ran against Rush, they were used against him, not without a certain amount of anti-semitism. (I knew someone who went to Senn High School with one of the Pritzkers after he was thrown out of a boarding school. She said he was a complete asshole.) The Chicago Reader archive probably has articles on that USHOR race. The consulting group in Evanston that Dukakis used, I can't remember the name of it for the life of me, was also used by Obama. I thought that was a mistake, because of their previous failures. They were a very specific group of people, maybe Paul Begala was part of it. Eventually Obama connected up with David Axelrod, who was working for one of his opponents in the Senate primary, Blair Hull, but switched to the side he knew could win. Axelrod wasn't exactly squeaky clean, but he had a lot of contacts in the newspaper business and got things done. One of the things that he may have gotten done was the scandal that caused Jack Ryan to drop out after Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine) came out with some revelations about their sex life. That was how Alan Keyes ended up being the candidate that Obama could beat easily. Axelrod may have had something to do with Blair Hull's fate also, since his ex-wife ended up accusing him of abuse. It didn't help that a dead body was found in the garage of a home that Hull owned but didn't live in. Welcome to Chicago! There was a very good book written about everything that happened behind the scenes at the time. I can't remember the name of it now. I'll look it up later. People from elsewhere actually got mad at some of the things that were in it, but the guy who wrote it was an Obama supporter, not an enemy, and it was mostly about the way things get done in Chicago.
  11. Ghouliani may be hanging around outside blood banks at night, or helping NYC's rat problem by catching them and drinking their blood. Nah, it's just the blood banks, the rats would be too fast for him.
  12. One of HRC's biggest regrets was that she didn't do more for Carol Moseley-Braun in 1998, but President Obama eventually got that Senate seat 6 years later. Wiki, Carol M-B: In the USHOR primary against Bobby Rush, the Clintons supported Rush against Obama, who was considered too Hyde Park-elitist back then. Even when he began running for POTUS, Barack Obama wasn't as well know as Bobby Rush.
  13. Brilliant, and I loved the pussy cat, but he should have used a much worse wig than that.
  14. Thanks, @Kromm, I usually avoid stories having anything to do with Zimmerman. I've been to Sanford many times (back in the 80s and early 90s). There was a big deal about a loitering ordinance directed at young African-American men who were selling drugs outside of convenience stores. The thing about it for me was that if you actually talked to the loiterers, they were nice polite intelligent guys, who happened to be selling drugs. In Florida, in many towns, I found out that if you went to a convenience store, and pulled up on the side of the building instead of the front, you would be approached by someone selling a product, who seemed to appear out of nowhere. The guys in Sanford though were definitely younger. On the surrogates, people are reaching into the past to claim that a candidate is racist because of things that their surrogates had done in 2008. I thought it was worrisome back then that Obama's supporters were making exaggerated claims for him that couldn't possibly be true, and that other people were questioning his birthplace, when his birthplace was completely irrelevant to his qualifications, since his mother was a US citizen, and it's never been an issue with other candidates that actually weren't born in the USA. This kind of discussion was rampant on the right wing media, but now it is supposed to have something to do with Hillary Clinton in some kind of weird revisionism of history promoted by Breitbart and wherever else the latest old conspiracy theories are being hatched.
  15. I don't know what kind of financial arrangement Melania might have with Donald. Probably only the lawyers know for sure. There would undoubtedly be some kind of penalties involved if she ever spoke about anything that happened in their marriage. He might even be able to hold their son as some kind of hostage. My guess is that Melania intends to encourage Donald to eat as much fried food as he wants, and to become his wealthy widow.
  16. It would be a dead giveaway if they were calling him a Rocket Surgeon, like the Mental Floss T-shirt.
  17. Dylan's CDs are being snapped up in Japan, and Sony? is going to put out a(another) boxed set of his works very soon. In the Miscellaneous Celebrity News thread, we talked about This Wheel's On Fire being used on Absolutely Fabulous for years. I wonder how much he has made from that one song.
  18. Until you posted this, I thought exactly the same thing. I don't even want to know what he actually said now that he's a fan of a Zimmerman. I'm assuming that's the one from Sanford, Fl., a town that I used to suggest have their name changed to Rain, because it was raining every time I went there.
  19. OMG, go to the Samantha Bee thread. I posted a clip of a web extra where, at the end, a Drumpfite is worried about HRC, a 68 year old woman, having her period and being unable to function as POTUS. I agree with @Darian about the morning coffee. I clicked on a link someone posted to a story about Donald and Ivana's sex life yesterday. I was shocked, but I never finished reading it. I get it. He's deplorable.
  20. I'd bet that the Bush cousins don't get together at all. Billy's father is a bit of a nuisance to the family, IIRC, acting like an elderly version of his son. I remember liking him because he seemed like the anti-Bush back whenever he was interviewed, but when you look into it, he's had legal problems with some sketchy financial dealings. I saw this "Ken Bone" person because I saw the debate, but I haven't paid the slightest attention to whatever has happened next with his 15 minutes of fame. If you're on the internet and not anonymous as we all are here, people can pick through everything you've ever said under your name.
  21. The Russian Wikileaks are a lot of baloney, the same as "Hillary's racist campaign in 2008". Someone makes up a story, then they attach a name to the story that is connected to HRC in some way, then it was all HRC's fault. Drumpf was waving around a paper that he kept insisting was an email from Sidney Blumenthal about Benghazi. It was actually an email where Blumenthal was quoting an article in Newsweek about Benghazi. The only place where that email had been published was a Russian news feed, which actually withdrew it when they realized their mistake, but there it was in Joe McCarthy Drumpf's hands., and he's acting like Blumenthal is HRC's second husband. People who remember history can't be fooled by someone claiming that something different happened. I remember 2008, and I know what all the arguments were that were made. There was no such thing as "Hillary's racist campaign in 2008".
  22. There is a forum for Barrack Obama if you want to discuss him. I don't see how these supposedly "everywhere 24/7 in 2008" stories about the President have anything to do with the Hillary Clinton topic. There's also a topic for Surrogates to discuss them.
  23. I thought the family was interesting enough. The episode was pretty clunky until about the last five minutes, and then it got very good and funny. I thought the scene about getting rid of the plus sized bigoted potential neighbor by making out with her lesbian friend was hilarious. Of the kids, I like little Alex Keaton the best. The husband was okay. I don't need any more of Naked Norman. Leslie Bibb, HOORAY! I'm in for now.
  24. I almost turned the episode off during the opening cursing music. Luckily it didn't last very long and I started watching the show. The show is okay, but I would like more of Issa and less of everyone else. When it got to the "broken pussy" song I was ready to shut it off again. I've heard enough p-word this week. Way too much cursing in general for me to watch. I shut it off as soon as the ending Bitch music started. I'll read about what the next episode is like, and see from there.
