  1. Well, there was no Missy. At least we have right, right? Honestly, I called the peasant girl with the Doctor to be to next to see her, but I was wrong. I felt this was a good episode, especially with the Doctor doing everything short of whipping out a ruler on Robin Hood. Has the Doctor ever been this cynical about historical figures before? For an episode that sounded like it was constructed from the title downward, I thought it was pretty good. And it wasn't like this Robin could overtake Errol Flynn, or this Sheriff could outdo Alan Rickman. You gotta look for the victories wherever you can, even if it involves the Doctor fighting off a sword with a spoon.
  2. Remember DC Nation? The shorts from DC Comics that vanished without much of a trace? Well, they've been dumped in the company's YouTube account. They got stuff I haven't seen before, like Shazam, Metal Men, Green Arrow, and Creature Commandos.
  3. Nah. I don't have the personality for it, and I'd hate to get held up every other minute to pose for pictures. And I didn't get around to posing for pictures myself. I did nearly get grabbed by a guy from Innerspace that wanted my reaction to "Into The Dalek." The only time I ever volunteered info for TV was for BBC America at a NYCC . . . and even then, I did it just to get free Doctor Who DVDs. BTW, is it sad that one of my main memories of Toronto was watching Innerspace's coverage of CCI in the hotel room? And oddly enough, I'd be open to going back to San Diego, even though wandering aimlessly would be an art form for me there. Last time I went, I wound up running on fumes by Saturday, and I was approaching "Walking Dead" territory on Sunday.
  4. . . . and here are the pictures from my trip. Lots of cosplay, a few Deadpools, and some of the sights from Toronto. Enjoy!
  5. caprice . . . did not know/remember that you were a Doctor Who fan. Have you been okay with the start of the Capaldi era? In non-con news, here are pictures taken by my mother from Toronto. Considering her lack of expertise on the camera, I'd say she did a good job.
  6. Anybody catch the latest episodes? It looks like we're going to be waist-deep in puppies for the time being, which is okay by me. Still, a half-hour episode doesn't work as well for me as the hour-long . . . especially with more interactions between puppies and Prickle the hedgehog. Damn, the latest episodes are a bit of a blur. Does anybody have favorite moments to share? ETA: Here are the summaries of the next episodes . . .
  7. I'm thinking we'd get a double elimination leg in that case. Bringing back a team to be eliminated would be too cruel for this show.
  8. I'm uploading my pics from the Bloggie. I think that I lost any/all pics taken at the Rogers Centre. I just can't find the pictures at all. Sadly, I still have the pix from the Aquarium, which wasn't that great. No dolphins, seals or penguins there. Plenty of sharks, though. ETA: Here are the pictures. I'll get around to labeling them soon. Enjoy.
  9. All I can remember is Jon Stewart falling on the Silk Slider, Kacy biffing on Spider Jump, and Brian Arnold (I think) taking his sweet time hitting the buzzer. Anybody else kinda happy Kacy failed? It's not that I hate her, but if she got through the first stage, Matt & Akbar would've orgasmed. Hard. And that would've been messy.
  10. You can read about my Fan Expo Canada trip here. In brief: I didn't have as good a time as I wanted, but that wasn't the con's fault. I didn't have the time or the money for the big name experiences, so I wound up getting bored a lot of the time. I might be burnt out on conventions and shows in general . . . though if anybody from here is attending NYCC in October, I would put my best face on.
  11. I'm at Pearson, on the Wi-Fi. I didn't have as good a trip as I wanted, but I know it could have been a lot worse. I also wound up with fourteen sketches, which you can see here. I reckon that I might be burned out on big cons . . . which kinda sucks, since I have NYCC to think about in October. BTW, seeing fans wearing "I [heart] BJs" t-shirts . . . that's hilarious, right?
  12. I think he did it in "The Invisible Enemy," which was K9's first appearance.
  13. Well, that was interesting. And messy with Dalek protein. Apparently, you can't help some people, and that includes poor stupid Rusty. I think I like this new Doctor . . . he's more coarse and rough around the edges than before. I think he might be Six with better management. And he can take getting slapped by Clara, which was funny to me. My mother disagrees with me . . . she found the concept to be "stupid." Or maybe I'm a sucker for ministr- . . . shrinking stories. I agree that "Blue" and "Pink" much not be coincidence. I also might get tired of seeing Missy pop up every week. At least next week's episode looks like a rollicking .good time.
  14. caprice . . . I don't know who "you-know-who" is. Also: did Canadian currency smell of maple syrup to you? Here's my third day in Toronto. Enjoy! ETA: And here's day four.
  15. I'm having fun in Toronto. Here's Day One and Day Two.
  16. Why John Rocker? I don't think Russell was necessarily a racist, which puts him one up on Rocker. Even as a lapsed Mets fan, I still hate his ass. The Twinees, however, I don't mind. Plus there's a three percent chance one of them would try to push the other into elimination. "You heard him, Natalie. The tribe has spoken." "Wait . . . I'm not Natalie! I'm Nadiya! You're Natalie!" "Nuh uh! Go get your torch snuffed!" Cut to Probst, trying to find a wall to bang his head against. Who doesn't root for that?!?
  17. As a Mets fan, I want to see John Rocker out at the first available opportunity. What a loser. At least he makes the Twinnees look good by direct comparison.
  18. Well, I'm at Pearson, currently waiting for a shuttle. My mother and me got here okay, and we'll be in Toronto until Monday. caprice . . . we're probably going to go tonight. I'm thinking outfield seats for us. At least we would be missing the weekend series against the Yankees, where I would expect fans would make the trip to cheer on the Bombers.
  19. I forgot to mention: the Paternoster gang had their own two-part adventure in the pages of Doctor Who Magazine. The story is "The Crystal Throne," and I thought it was pretty good while waiting for Twelve to make his debut. Bad news: Strax gives some of his milk to an unsuspecting urchin, which . . . ick. On the bright side: no objectification of Jenny by Lady Vastra.
  20. Chip . . . since that character is on the cover, I don't think that's a spoiler.
  21. Hanged Man . . . actually, I would be working for Clark Gregg, which would be a bit of a letdown. But like MarkHB said, I am a moderator. So far, it's been pretty mellow. I just got disappointed . . . I found out that if I go see the Blue Jays tomorrow night, I'll be missing R.A. Dickey by a day. He's slated for tonight, and I'm can't cross my fingers for rain because of the retractable roof. I know that he's a ways away from his Cy Young season, but he's still one of the most intriguing people in baseball today, even for a knuckleballer like himself. Find and read his book, if you can. It's one heckuva story. At least I can see Jose Reyes, though. I bet they do the "Jose Jose Jose" chant/song in Toronto like they did in New York and (presumably) Miami.
  22. RealityBlurred's Andy Dehnart on why TAR won its tenth Emmy. Thankfully, it's not another plea for CBS to cancel the show, so I think it's a good read. And I fist-pumped when it won, so I reckon that I'm still a fan.
  23. Observation from the Emmys: I'm still a fan of The Amazing Race, given how I fist-pumped when it won for Outstanding Competitive Reality Program. Yeah, the show's dipped in quality, but I'm still celebrating like that. And I got to see Phil Keoghan on stage, which was a nice bonus.
  24. A little something from "Deep Breath": Doctor Who
  25. Thanks to Doctor Who, I had to DVR the episodes. And I only got around to seeing the Samoyed/Cairn Terrier episode. I don't understand why Major wasn't in the tub in every segment he was in. What a messy dog. And I kinda liked the Cairns dogpiling on poor Geronimo the cat. At least it didn't look like he outright hated Doogie.
