Damn, Cliff. Dominic. Cliffinic? The Flash just came back from fighting Nazis on another Earth, and you float in and fuck up his shit? I know, midseason finale, but c'mon, man! Interesting that the writers are going "The Trial Of The Flash" on us. Yes, more like "The Trial of Barry Allen," but the spirit is still there. And Thinker played him like a dang fiddle. "You want to know where I came up with this idea?" "Um, by yourself, because you're so damn smart?" "No. My wife took me to the cinema earlier this year, and-" "STOP." Yes, that's where my mind went as well. Really hoping that Caitlin and Killer Frost can be reconciled, because the split persona thing is annoying. Also, weren't Cisco and Harry liking KF like Ralph was? I know Ralph is a jackass, but I can't see him being entirely at fault. I can live with him and Cisco being frenemies, especially since Harry is more sociable. And I liked the payoff with Gypsy's cube. Just don't let her dad find out. Amunet is a good villain. But since she's not the main villain, she's probably dead meat before the finale.

I'm on the iPad, so I'll talk more later, but my favorite small touch? Zari and Jax playing Mortal Kombat II, and Jax is playing . . . as Jax. So cute. Have to rewind to make sure.

Observation: recently-fired head coach Ben McAdoo kinda looks like PC Principal. It's not a "separated at birth" thing, but I reckon there's enough of a resemblance .

Update: Mario has started a GoFundMe to save his site. I'll probably kick in a few bucks for that. Apologies if this is off-topic, though I feel that Mario does count as a historian of sorts, because he remembers shit I forgot days after I saw it. Is it wrong that if somebody brings up Natalie winning, I would go, "Oh, yeah, Natalie Anderson. Liked her a lot!" All I'd remember about Samoa immediately was that Russell didn't win, and that's enough to please me.

Sunday's episode answered a question very few were thinking: "What if the Cuylers were human?" Answer: not pretty. This isn't an alternate reality episode; no, it's Early feuding with a topless slob who has much sense as him. He also has a kid with a 'stache and rat-tail, but the boy doesn't talk. Also, the asshole's daddy had several flings with Ruby Jean. Bad news: we get flashbacks with the relations. Good news: We see Pee Pap again! "[whack] Got you! [whack] Got you again!" ETA: I got another Adult Swim blind box, and I wound up with Early. Anybody have a good home for him? He's the only character from Squidbillies in the line, but I still feel it's a good likeness. And he's got his shotgun with notches! Just like on that there TV!!

@17wheatthins: awesome. First version or Brotherhood? I asked the PR contact if the movie would be screened in U.S. theaters, but she didn't get a response from the director's people. If that does happen and you can make it, I'd go for it. I mean, don't drive three hours to see it, but they did a good job. And you can make comparisons between Al and Colossus from Deadpool.

I'm still watching. Anybody know if the ratings are good? I hope not. It's not that I want the show to fail, but Jordan's supporting cast of "citizen journalists" are so obnoxious . . . which is the point, and it's a relief that they are just fictional characters (or at least fiction portrayals of a political leaning). If the show got popular, I'd imagine strangers seeing them, flash back to an episode, momentarily forget about the disconnect between character and actor, and just go nuts. I have the same concern about people in Times Square posing for pictures while impersonating the president.

You mean different words? Didn't know that. Of course, I wouldn't notice. At least the end credits differ. I think I like the first one the best, mostly because Hisoka appears when the singer screams, "AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!! IT'S RAPE TIME!" I know, more of a coincidence because he wasn't singing in English, but I find it funny.

I would have expected that from the Post, which I gave up on ages ago. I mean, the front page? That should only have gotten a banner on the back page, below "GIANTS REALLY SUCK" and "JETS MEDIOCRE, BUT AT LEAST THERE'S HOPE." Ohtani is going to Seattle, right? That's the only West Coast city I can consider, and that's where Ichiro landed. The only other place is San Diego, but aren't they always on a budget, at least compared to the rest of the NL West?

Basically Reign = Doomsday. I know, Doomsday was a marauding beast that was equal parts mindless violence and the ability to literally beat Superman to death, and Reign has some intelligence and a human identity, but I reckon the core concept remains. Has Kara taken a beating that harsh that didn't involve Kryptonite, magic or red solar radiation? You can write in a scene where Reign stares at her enemy's broken body, followed by Reverse Flash popping in, snarking, "Don't get cocky. Overgirl loosened the jar for you," then popping out. Seriously hoping somebody draws an old-school comic cover where Canon Jimmy is going out with Lena Luthor. That would have been a great/horrifying idea way back in the day. Here, it works in its own way, though relationships do not last long on this series. I'd imagine Clark chuckling at that news, not fearing for James' health in general. Nice Christmas party. Would not have thought of J'onn being a dork. Or bonding with Winn. Very cute. ETA: I'm not hating Kara, Mon or Imra. Mon was gone for seven years, fell for Imra, then wound up in stasis waiting for the 31th century to happen. But then they got woke in 2017, seven months after Mon left. Wondering if/when this Imra will show off powers. I did geek on the flash of Legion rings; this means we get at least one more Legionnaire next month.

Finally . . . score one for Johnny Law. Johnny Justice? Johnny Sentinel? You know what I mean. Really, really, really hoping that if the series lasts a while, the writers don't "go there" with Andrew and Lauren. Not even in the same timezone. I know that canon can be changed and this ain't cable TV . . . but damn, the siblings looked so blissed out when powering up. And the first time kinda wrecked them mentally, at least in academics. How funny is it that squid-like robots are way more menacing than giant robots? Not much else to comment about, save for Lorna needing a bedroom free of metal. Also: does Clarice have to "hold" the portal to keep it open? If so, how can she enter?

Here's the interview I had with Fumihiko Sori, the director of Fullmetal Alchemist. Before that, I saw the movie. Basically, his vision was to try to appeal to hardcore and new fans, and I think he did a good job.

Front page, people. All the shit going in the world, including the football Giants front office sharpening their blades, and they went with that. Go figure, right? To the Yankees fans here: was the front page justified?

Mario posted an essay on Naonka and Fabio . . . and the site crashed. Turns out Mario might upgrade to a better server for a year, then kill the site altogether. I'd post the whole message, but I think that qualifies as "off-topic." I don't remember any specific moments or storylines with the Dumbass and the Quitter. Anybody want to take a shot at what got posted?

I was half-watching; will give it a full look on DVR. Quick question: Are you guys okay with "Departure" being used in (seemingly) all the credits? It's catchy, but I can understand fatigue. Like how Adult Swim crammed "Ready Steady Go" for most of Fullmetal Alchemist.

Finally got around to seeing the Adam Ruins Everything episode that included dating. I'm not depressed-depressed about it, but it's discouraging. I don't see any other options for me because I don't get out much, and I'm not really social.

Comedy Central leaked a little information sooner than usual. So . . . bang or whimper? Will the second American/Canadian War be averted? Will Kyle be redeemed, or will he get comeuppance for his actions, plus those that his father never got? Will Garrison still be president, or will he get separated from his real-life counterpart? And will Heidi become Heidi once again? ETA: Here's the press release, with a picture of the boys and Heidi. And Heidi is looking out over a bridge. To quote an all-too-familiar character: "Oh, geez!"

Like I said, I think Matt & Trey are thinking of retiring them, since their act is so old. The alternative: some Canadians age really rapidly. Hey, maybe Kyle will shoot and kill them, and it would stick.

As much as I Chicken Little about TAR, I don't see losing out to The Voice three years running as a weight upon the scale to cancel it.

Monaka lives! Barely! Of course we'd have Wacky Sitcom Mixups before the next arc, and it comes down to another staged fight. I'd say Goku vs. Mr. Satan was more fun, but the party people did good with improvising. Lucky they had the plus-sized Monaka "statue." Watching Vegeta and Piccolo try to cover was awesome, and great move with Krillin using Solar Flare. Puar can shapeshift? I know she used to do that in Dragon Ball, but I don't think that happened at any point in DBZ. Also, Oolong could do that as well. Actually . . . no, who cares about the lecherous pig? Ditto Yamcha. In their DBZ abridgements, Team Four Star abuses the crap out of him. Can you blame them at all? ETA for something that's been in my head that I'm too lazy to look up: Chi Chi's father is Ox King. Is there an Ox Kingdom? Or is that a title? And would that make Chi Chi an Ox Princess?
