    Joker (2019)

Headline: “Joker Gets 11 Oscar Noms” Underneath: “‘Oh, fuck,’ says people living near THOSE stairs.”
  2. This week: Trish Una! And as someone with a math degree, I like her basic arithmetic signs pattern on her skirt and choker. Also: Ghirga uses his Stand . . . the toy plane with the big artillery known as Aerosmith. Of course, it has to be "Li'l Bomber" in the dub for legal reasons. It's still fun to see a non-humanoid Stand, one slightly more destructive than Ghirga's kicks to the car. And since Aerosmith has been unveiled, I can show you two female cosplayers as Ghirga and Abbacchio, with an actual Aerosmith. Funny thing . . . I took a lot of pics at Anime NYC in November, but I didn't see many Stands. I'll have to share them sometime.
  3. The hand . . . so heavy . . . I’m not declaring this to be the nadir of the series. I’m not saying this was the episode when the Doctor slapped a saddle on the jumping shark. But even if you take past stories into account where how humanity would leave Earth (“The Ark in Space,” for instance), it still felt preachy. Or maybe I’m not a fan of “siege” stories. In The Time Machine, how far into the future did the protagonist travel to encounter Morlocks? Because that’s where my mind went. Maybe this story didn’t take place Next Sunday, A.D. (BTW, I found out IFC is running old MST3K episodes. I DVRed Santa Claus!) I will say Jodie did a lot of good with the given material. Sadly, “Spyfall” was too big a high to slowly descend from. You think the minute after we left the Fam, they knocked Graham down and kicked him for getting them into that mess? Reminds me of Rick yelling at Morty to stay in the damn ship.
  4. Funny115: Jenn roasts everyone on her way out. I still maintain that Nicaragua sucked a copious amount of ass, and the cast was mediocre on purpose in order to make the Rob vs. Russell showdown season look better by comparison. And that season wound up sucking just as hard. 🙄
  5. Is anyone else watching? It’s been a good mix of Senku leveling up and him finding out how his father helped found the village some 3,700 years in the past.
  6. Anyone else keeping up? I think the next two episodes will feature Narancia and his Stand. It'll be hard to top Sex Pistols, though.
  7. Is anyone watching? I'm not entirely invested, but I can see the appeal . . . and I can see why Nezuko could qualify for "Best Girl" status even if she's become a demon.
  8. @emma675 & @Bastet . . you're both right. My only excuse is that I tend to get uneasy when I don't hear from someone after a while, mostly because I'm not usually in situations where I'm talking to a woman beyond platonic. And yes, I will try to curb such behavior. Weirdest damn thing . . . someone responded to my message to her. Do you know when I wrote it? March 2017. Or at least that's what it said in the message box on OKC.
  9. Met a girl. Swapped lines. Didn't hear from her after a few days. Wrote back. Didn't hear from her. Decided to write again, with the intent of telling her that I really really REALLY don't want to be considered obsessive (in as few words as possible) . . . and her profile is down. Of course it is.* *Once again: when shit like that happens, I usually hate myself and/or my luck. I don't get a mad-on for an entire gender.
  10. Funny115: Fabios’s introduction to the audience.
  11. Watching last night’s episode on DVR. Opening segment gave me two memories of John Oliver. The first was the bit on Steve Mneuchin. Trevor called him “Corporate Kylo Ren,” but I remember John continually praising his looks since they look alike. Then there was Teevor bringing up koalas having chlamydia. Basically, John (or HBO) bought Russell Crowe’s jockstrap in his post-divorce auction, he donated the money to the Irwins, and they named a chlamydia Ward for koalas after John. Really. The bit with Jesus probably not liking the image of himself crucified reminded me of Bill Hicks comparing that to coming up to Jackie Onassis with a rifle pendant.

Heads up for Mets fans: SNY premiered the 2019 episode of Amazin’ Finishes last night, and the first “episode” of Mets Classics from that year airs tonight.
  13. Just saw a post on Facebook . . . we’ll be getting the new season on May 6. Boosh!
  14. Funny115: Mario has fun with the editors making fun of OtherRussell.
  15. The next episode title is “THE WARRIORS' BANQUET,” if that helps. Basically, we’re in Block A, and the judges have to excuse themselves between tastings because their underwear keeps catching fire.
  16. Checking to see who else is watching. Latest episode shown on Toonami featured some hardcore foodgasm sequences. It's always a treat to see how far those can go.
  17. This is a poster I made on Television Without Pity, back when Samoa was airing. The text is based off an episode recap from Miss Alli.
  18. Funny115: The suck that was Dan Foley. Mario throws in a great Day 39 moment that made Dan look like an even bigger asshole.
  19. Doctor Who: The Thirteenth Doctor -- Season 2 #1 comes out this Wednesday. In case you're not in the loop, the Doctor and her Fam work behind the scenes as Ten & Martha go through the events played out in "Blink."
  20. Good way to open the season. I'm hoping this will be a good season. Minimum, the return of the Master didn't seem gratuitous from Chibnall (re: "You want the old enemies back?!? I'LL GIVE THEM ALL TO YOU!!!!") And Gallifrey is destroyed. Again. Maybe. With all the wibbly-wobbly, who can tell anymore? And the Fam fended for themselves well enough, given the abuse Barton heaped upon them. You can't credit their survival solely to Graham's laser shoes. Ryan inadvertently getting the Doctor to "Bill & Ted" (for lack of a better term) their escape from the crashing plane was cute. How many times in the universe has a mastermind tried to take over the world via press conference? I'm thinking Mark Zuckerberg would have done that at least twice in that continuity. The Master found out a secret and had to wreck Gallifrey? Is there anyone else here into Naruto? I dunno, the thought of the Master as Itachi Uchiha is a funny one, at least to me. Maybe in "The End of Time"? RTD threw out two dozen story ideas to us on his way out. Who knows? Maybe this is pre-Missy. Or pre-Harold. Maybe even pre-Yana.
  21. In case you didn't see the first part of "Spyfall" . . . we have a new Master. Discuss.
  22. Here's her Funny115 entry. Looking at my old posts, I did not like her . . . but I can appreciate her now. Wouldn't we all try to break Spencer if we had had to live with him? And here's her entry. Maybe she just needed a partner in snark like Sandra. And speaking of Funny115, Mario's latest entry is just an excuse to show pictures of Alec with his mouth open.
  23. Dang. Helluva swerve. I mean, I didn't see it coming. Granted, I can be oblivious about mysteries. "O" talks about having a shelf full of material on the Doctor, I don't think, "No way this guy had a brief encounter with the Doctor years ago, and he's actually the Master." But that's what we got. Or is it? Yeah, it probably is. I had to go through the stuff with Missy back in 2014, where I thought her being the Master was too obvious. I'd think the Doctor would have recognized her old frenemy even with the new face. Or that the TARDIS would've detected something. Or maybe I should just sit back and watch (copy-&-paste) Sacha Dhawan channel John Simm's Master. Of course, the tissue compression device is really old-school. Maybe this is pre-Simm/Gomez? Moffat did seem to make Missy's fate inescapable . . . but fuck, isn't that the fun in reviving characters? I had fun for the most part. Sure, this is like "Kerblam!" with VOR in place of Google and other sites that have fingers in almost every pie, but it works. And it turns out Barton wasn't the bad guy. Seeing Jodie Whittaker shook as hell is disturbing. That's all I got.
  24. Clicked the link from @Sandman87. I’ll try not to complain about anything ever again. No promises. Seriously, I’m glad you’re recovering. On a lighter note, here’s an AMV covering the last decade of anime.
  25. The Ringer goes over guilty pleasure shows of 2019; The Challenge gets cited for Laurel's downfall.
