  1. I wasn't a huge fan of the book because I didn't think PD James really did a good job with the characters. I like the miniseries even less. I can't tell any of the men apart! They're all roughly the same height, build, and coloring. For each scene, until the character started speaking I didn't figure out who it was. And the casting of Elizabeth is very unfortunate. She looked sickly and thin. Elizabeth might not be a beauty but she was spirited and dynamic and personable. This version is not only dressed badly, she has no personality.
  2. I too am baffled by Kini's dark, heavy aesthetic when he's from Hawaii. I also am wondering if it's even possible to spend $9000 on the denim fabric he used for his collection. What happened to all of his money? When he was moaning about having to redo everything he said he had no extra fabric to use. Thanks for the link. I loved her collection! Didn't care for the weird lip thing but her clothes were striking. That 'fearless' dress is amazing!
  3. I did not understand Kini's collection. It was for Spring and he did a big denim coat and a lot of heavy dark eye shadow? Maybe for a Fall collection - although even then his focus on denim denim denim is just too much. Did he lie about having an evening gown? I thought he said his coat was his big finale piece? And I agree with Nina that Sean doesn't have to put fringe on every single piece. I hope he was still working on his finishing because that orange fringe was very sloppy when the camera went in for a close up.
  4. I think that's true. When Sheldon had Niswicki (sp?) monitoring his every move and preventing him from playing paintball and participating in Halo night and watching BSG, he made a "scientific mumbo jumbo" breakthrough and published an important paper. Of course, he also didn't have any fun.
  5. I have no sympathy for Cole whatsoever. I have sympathy for the child that saw his father's bloody corpse and believes he saw the murderer but I do believe in free will and Cole chose how he was going to deal with that trauma. Obviously that would be horrible for a child, but that doesn't give him a free pass to torture people that get in his way. He seemed to be nonchalant about the pain he was causing Sam. I didn't see any conflicted emotions about that. Didn't he also imply that he learned his torture techniques during his two tours in Iraq? It seems to me that he chose to channel his rage into hurting other people and that's not OK with me. Again, Cole reminds me of Gordon. Something awful happened and the chosen response was to cause others as much pain as possible.
  6. I still don't understand the title. Anybody get the reference? The only one I have is Sherlock, but why would that relate to this episode?
  7. I don't understand the Reichenbach reference. Reichenbach Falls was where Sherlock Holmes confronted Moriarty and supposedly died. How does that relate to this episode? Cole is too much of a Gordon redux for me. The motivations are different but the unrelenting obsession with killing the object of his obsession (Sam then, Dean now) is another recycled storyline. Come up with new villain type writers! I loved Crowley backing down from Dean, even in front of his minions, trying to laugh it off. And then pining over 'fun pics with Dean!' at the end. What the Hell Sam! You seemed to be tracking Dean just fine on your own. You hand over the First Blade to Crowley? And trust him to hide it? Seems pretty stupid to me. I wanted Hannah to take the deal with Metatron just for him to go off to another galaxy and never be seen on my screen again. I wish that storyline was over!
  8. Wasn't Emily actually wearing her just made hoodie in her talking heads? I kept get distracted because it looked like she was wearing what she was sewing in the in between scenes. Which telegraphed to me that she was the one going home. Like she was using her TH as a marketing opportunity. I really liked the hoodie but why are the designers insisting on these 'matchy matchy' looks? Emily's top and leggings were in the same fabric. Sean's shorts and top (and skirt and top) were in the same fabric. Amanda's pink cigarette pants and top last week. When you go with a bold fabric and are making separates, why do a top-to-bottom look? I wasn't crazy about Char's outfit but at least she didn't make her bandeau top out of the same shocking pink fabric as her skirt. It just seems lazy to me.
  9. If Alexander is going to roll his eyes in his talking head that Char of all people was telling him how to sew, he should have damn well made sure he sewed well! He seemed to have primary responsibility for sewing the black dress and it puckered and poached in the front. I guess Char should have monitored your sewing quality even more closely! The praise for Sean's look puzzled me exceedingly. I thought it was ok, but not the second coming of fashion. Nobody paid a lot of attention to the remake look, but Amanda should be ashamed of her Tarzan and Jane outfit. That had Halloween costume written all over it. I'm glad Char didn't get stuck with sour puss Korina. Didn't her aufing happen a couple of days before she was brought back to help? Did she spend every sleepless minute during those few days stewing and steaming over the travesty that had befallen her? Get over yourself already!
  10. And yet a human, Cole, in the very same episode, took out Sam so easily he didn't even break a fingernail. Sam didn't even seem suspicious that his car suddenly died on a lonely, dark stretch of road with a convenient savior driving in right behind him. The writers should have come up with something more plausible. If Sam is someone demons should fear then he shouldn't be easy pickings for a human!
  11. I loved the Pat Benatar opening. The 'right kind of sinner' indeed! I thought the Dean storyline was really good. It was more of a slow build, which I appreciated more than the anvils we usually get. It's interesting that even amoral Dean isn't physically abusive towards women. I know he gave her a cruel shot at the end with his 'skank' line but he's saving his violent impulses for men. And even then, he's not indiscriminantly pounding guys. He's waiting until they do something to spark his anger. That says a lot about Dean's level of control over the Mark. It's definitely influencing him, but it hasn't taken over. At least not yet. The ending was great. I have no idea why this Cole guy is so pissed at Dean. And I'm not entirely sure Dean was completely blowing off the danger Sam is in. After the phone call, Cole looked kind of defeated, like he couldn't believe his awesome plan of using Sam as a hostage didn't work. It didn't look like he was going to kill Sam in cold blood. I'm confused as to whether Dean is supposed to know who Cole is. I couldn't tell from the phone conversation how long ago whatever Cole is mad about happened or if Dean recognized his name. Of course, we got the split personality Sam. At the beginning of the episode, he's capable of single handedly capturing a DEMON and torturing her. At the end, he's easily captured by a human. Writers, could you at least be consistent within the same episode?
  12. I just thought of a rather glaring oversight. What about Ellen and Jo? Or the sheriff? Or brief experiment with Bella and Katie Cassidy. Besides a brief mention of the last incarnation of Meg, no discussion of any recurring female characters.
  13. I had stricken that episode from my memory banks! It was rather self-serving that all of the 'bad' episode examples they came up with were done years ago. I did like that they acknowledged the repetition of storylines. Dean went to Hell, Sam went to Hell. Dean went to Purgatory, Sam went to Purgatory. Rinse and repeat. Although, just mentioning it without any explanation as to why doesn't make me feel confident they're actually bothered about it.
  14. How did the comic book store get resolved? I know the main quartet didn't invest, but did Debbie actually end up being Stuart's bankroll? I like Kale's short hair so much better! It really suits her face. Having an earlier season episode right after the new one made me realize how ratty and fake her long 'blonde' hair was looking.
  15. I liked Wendigo! Nowhere near as bad as Route 666. Although the Dean sex scene provides at least one redeeming feature for that episode. And they didn't mention the insta-sunrise from Bugs. The continuity issues were worse than the bad special effects. It was funny that Jensen did most of the talking. I would have thought Jared would be the chatter box! I'm excited for tomorrow!
  16. It's so awesome that you know that!
  17. Is Angela the one who tried to make 'fleurettes' happen? She stuck those things on every garment. Putting your design into context with a simple story makes sense, but some of these people come up with such tortured explanations that it actually distracts from the clothing.
  18. So what does this say about their sponsor, Aldo? If Aldo didn't have the tacky hats, etc on the accessories wall, the designers couldn't pick them. I wonder how Aldo feels when the judges sneer at their accessories? I keep flashing back to the amazing dress Chris March and Christian Sirano made for the avant garde challenge. It was so spectacular that I remember it however many years ago it was. There haven't been any designs this season that I remember from one episode to the next, let alone a year later.
  19. Exactly! That's so passive aggressive I can't stand it! She is a master manipulator.
  20. Good riddance! What an unpleasant person. Her sulking and pouting and disbelief at being in danger of being sent home when she's so utterly brilliant had my eyes rolling so hard I looked like Karina!
  21. What's fun is imaging what the judges on Project Runway would say if one of their designers put these outfits down the runway. The jeers and snide comments would go on for hours! And yet if "Chanel" or "Dolce & Gabbana" is on the label, it's fabulous!
  22. Castle is a mighty forgiving person. He was all apologetic to Beckett, as if he was somehow at fault for being abducted. And she let him! I would be angry that someone that I loved would doubt me, but instead Richard devotes himself to comforting Beckett. At least Alexis and Martha were unwavering in their belief that Richard was the victim. The whole tone of the episode was weird.
  23. Really? Singing/rapping/whatever about your "dick" is "artistry" now? Not the fake kind, mind you, real artistry!
  24. The show managed to keep a hopeful outlook through the first season, even with evil drug lords, evil Russians, and weasle-like British scientists. From the brief clip of the rebel leader interacting with knitting ladies and kids, it looks like he's positioned to be a good guy. I think the show just wanted the twist of having the presumed 'good leader' and 'bad warlord' turned upside down. I hope they don't go the BSG route where everyone was so damn grey it was hard to root for anybody to survive, human or Cylon.
  25. Oddly enough, burning dead bodies for fuel doesn't bother me all that much. For health reasons, I would think burning is the safest thing to do. As cold as it sounds, if they have to be burnt, you might as well use that energy. On the other, killing people in order to burn them for fuel is pretty hard core villainy.
