S06.E06: No Stone Unturned
Agent Dark replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Pretty Little Liars [V]
In this episode: Spencer, Hanna and Aria get defeated by a Racoon*, Emily continues to get all the babes and Mr DiLaurentis is gonna get dead in his own son's grave. These are the exact kind of reasons why I watch this show. *Though I'm actually gonna call BS on that scene - as if Aria wouldn't just pull out a bowie knife and butcher that rat to turn it into a necklace or something. -
*cough* Battlestar Galactica *cough* ;) Though I suppose being compared to BSG should only be a good thing. That 'Pegasus' arc was awesome.

Well that was entertaining, if not entirely 'accurate to real life'. They managed to get some of the painstaking, methodical processes involved in anti-submarine warfare across, at least as well as they could whilst still delivering an action episode of TV. Though I'm not sure why the Seahawk wasn't launched immediately to hunt down the sub - Anti-Submarine Warfare Helicopters are the bane of submarines. It would have been able to drop sonobouys and/or its dipping sonar with impunity to try and find the sub. Triangulate with the sonar from the Nathan James and they can pretty much drop a torpedo from the Helo right in the sub's face. Especially if you already have a rough of idea of where the Sub is. Doubly especially so if the sub is pinging away with Active Sonar. But then I guess we wouldn't have had much of an episode lol.

Maxwell Lord created the Justice League International (kind of a B-Team Justice League though Batman, Black Canary and Martain Manhunter were still involved), and was sort of the Big Money Corporate backing the team. Only during the prelude to the Infinite Crisis crossover event, it was revealed he had mind-control powers and had managed to get into Superman's mind making him go on a rampage (partly to prove a point about how dangerous Superman could be, especially if he fell under the influence of a malevolent being...). Wonder Woman went to stop Superman but found the only way she could do so was to kill Lord and break his mind-control link, which she did so by snapping his neck. Unfortunately for her, the Brother Eye surveillance network was recording the incident and broadcast it for the world to see. Superman and Batman especially weren't cool with it (because of their No Kill policy), and the Justice League basically broke up over it.

yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, Lexa is back! That was like the only thing I wanted for Season3 :)

Eh, I got no problem with Sara. I think she's pretty good looking (she looks uncannily like Dianna Agron with that short hair imo), Emily is pretty clearly into it and tbh I'm kinda impressed at Emily's commitment to her Game. I'm also kinda impressed by Caleb's wingman game too - going to the effort of giving his girlfriends best friend's "girlfriend" a job is some serious next level wingman duties. Respect.

Yeah, I think that idea that "Piper is a gateway into the prison, so we can explore all these other character's stories" has fallen a bit flat. Wentworth is clearly the "Franky and Bea" hour, and it benefits from having the strong narrative of its two clear lead characters, with Ferguson as the clear villain. I think S3 of Orange would have had a much better overall season arc if they had of stuck to Piper as the central character, rather than it basically being a series of vignettes with some background narrative linking each episode.

Voltage is measured in Volts, not Amps ;) That table is about the effects of a current passing through your body and through vital organs. If the circuit created passes through your heart (like when you touch a bare conductor, and create a path from your hand through your torso down to your feet which are grounded) then you are far more likely to suffer life-threatening problems than say if the circuit was created from one of your fingers to the back of your hand. The higher the voltage, the easier it is to penetrate through an insulating medium (like air, or your skin). The higher the current, the more damage the electricity will cause you. Car Batteries can put out hundreds of Amps, easily enough to turn your insides to crisps, but at only 12Volts it's unlikely to penetrate your skin (assuming clean, dry skin of course) and you might only feel a slight 'tingle'. You're probably going to start really feeling the effects of an electric shock at around 50 or 60V, but that is highly dependant on the condition of your body and skin. On the other hand, a 'Megger' (an instrument used for measuring Insulation Resistance on electrical wires and plant) can generate DC Voltages upwards of 5000 Volts, but only output microAmps. You certainly know about it if you zap yourself, but its highly unlikely to cause any harm (think of a way way more nasty static shock zap). I highly doubt they were getting repeatedly zapped by a 50mA current because they would be in very real danger of electrocution (ie death by electric shock). It's far more likely to be a higher voltage (1-2kV maybe) but very low current source (<5mA) since it bloody hurts like hell but doesn't do any real harm.

S01.E12: Dead Rat Live Rat Brown Rat White Rat

Tunefind is a very handy website for those "what is that song???" moments :) http://www.tunefind.com/show/izombie/season-1/23330 -
I think that was actually just a poor editing choice for the scene - I have a feeling all that simultaneous screaming was meant to be a 'montage' of what happened during the 3 week time-jump. Only it didn't come across very well, and made it seem all the girls just started randomly screaming as soon as their doors closed. It would seem the next few episodes are going to actually go into what happened to each girl, and we'll probably get to see what made them so upset.

I dunno - the Batman/Superman "World's Finest" team-ups are a staple of the comics. There's quite often team-ups in the comics that would appear to have a huge disparity (Green Arrow/Green Lantern, Supergirl/Batgirl, Wonder Woman/Batwoman etc) but they all work great. I mean if you can handle the Oliver Queen/Barry Allen teamup (The Flash is one of the most powerful super-heroes in the DC Universe after all, certainly in Superman's ballpark, and Oliver Queen is a guy with a bow and arrow...) I don't think Supergirl would be out of place at all. Especially with the likes of The Atom, Firestorm, Hawkgirl and Rip Hunter being in Legends of Tomorrow.

I've seen people suggest it elsewhere, but John Wesley Shipp as Jay Garrick from Earth-2 would be amazing if they going for the Multiverse concept.

She's a minor villain that was created for Black Canary and The Birds in the Gail Simone Birds of Prey era. AFAIK she didn't appear anywhere else, and was probably ret-conned out during the "New52" reboot (or at least hasn't been written into The New52 continuity). I'd say that very little to none of the comic character would be present in Sara Lance, more that they're just using the name. More of a "Gandalf the Grey is dead; Gandalf the White rises" kinda thing. Scandal Savage is also another character that was created by Gail Simone for her "Secret Six" comic (which was an awesome series, highly recommend checking it out). Again, I don't think Scandal really appeared in anything else, certainly not in any major way anyway, and was basically ret-conned out of the New52 continuity. I don't think she'll show up in Legends of Tomorrow, but if she did it would be pretty awesome. Especially if Knockout (her girlfriend, and a former Female Fury which are Darksied's elite bodyguard/team) showed up too.

Spoilers & Speculation: Running Hot & Cold
Agent Dark replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Legends Of Tomorrow
Heh, the music at the start of that BTS clip is the main theme from Command and Conquer: Generals. Loved that game. -
With the D.E.O. being central to this show maybe there's some hope for Director Bones, Cameron Chase or even Batwoman. That would be sweet.

No, that's totally how Hersh survived! He just bullshitted to Reese - who obviously is ignorant of the technical details - and used it as an excuse to fake his death. Hersh was totally taking a page out of his star pupil's (Shaw) book :)

Yeah I work in an Electrical Engineering field (in the generation/distribution/transmission industry even) so that whole "explanation" of how The Machine transferred Herself to the electrical grid was pretty cringeworthy. Yes Ethernet over Power is a thing, but No you would not be able to use the electrical grid to transfer data nor would it have any capability to store said data. I suppose I could fanwank that She had some sort of WiFi to Ethernet over Power converters installed either side of every transformer (!!) in the Distribution/Transmission network so She could actually use the grid to transmit data, but there's no way she can use the grid to either store data or perform calculations on said data. That requires actual computers and electronic memory, which have to be physically located somewhere. Which means rolling a blackout across the continent should have been no big deal, since it's not going to affect any long term storage device... Anyway, other than that it was a good episode :)

Well DC does have iZombie and the upcoming Supergirl. And while we can all agree that it was terrible, they almost had a new Wonder Woman TV show too. If we're allowed to go back a few years, V for Vendetta had Natalie Portman as the movie's protagonist. Also, if the rumoured Sandman film or TV show ever goes ahead, I'd imagine there'd be a strong focus on Death since she's arguably the standout character from that series.

I thought it was going to be revealed that the two kidnappers were part of the Zombie Conspiracy, and the Lt. insisted on going in alone so he could cover it up (he did murder the woman after all). But then... nothing. Maybe it will come up in a later episode.

Zombie Rat is my new favourite character.

zomg amazing episode. I was getting chills when Root was walking into Sameen's room, even though I 'knew' that Sarah Shahi wasn't going to be back so it wasn't like Root was about to find Shaw just chilling there. And then Root is captured and Finch captured and Martine calls Shaw Root's Girlfriend and then Martine is neck!snapped and Root is about to get her head cut open and The Machine sacrifices Herself for them and wow! Absolutely cannot wait for the finale. It was interesting to see that brief glimpse of the Samaritan screen when Root first entered Shaw's room. "Correction. Duty. Authority." were the words that were flashing up on the screen - certainly looks like a 'brainwashing' thing to me, especially with the reference to the 'Correction' thing that the woman Control was interrogating kept going on about. "Compact Persian Sociopath" might just be the best description of Shaw yet haha. Also, I didn't mind the Elias/Brotherhood stuff mainly because seeing Elias get one up on Dominic as revenge for killing Anthony was kinda satisfying.

S02.E19: The Dirty Half Dozen
Agent Dark replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Age of Ultron has been in out in Australia/NZ (and Europe/Asia I think?) for nearly a week now. I haven't had a chance to see it yet (going tomorrow :)) but this episode was a good lead up to it. Also just re-watched Captain America 2 last night, and the mid-credit tag with Strucker and Dr List (List is the guy in this episode) was another good little refresher. The lab SHIELD raided in this episode definitely resembled the lab in that CA2 tag. -
S02.E18: The Frenemy Of My Enemy

Oh yeah, the "Revan, the Big Bad, is actually you!" twist in "Knights of the Old Republic" is one of the best plot twists in gaming. But the reason it works so well is because it's a genuinely surprising twist (not to mention the player-choice you have in deciding to redeem yourself and return fully to the Light Side or fall back to the Dark Side). But I'm not sure a mind-wiped Ward would have the same effect. I think he will probably work best as an 'independent contractor' so to speak - someone who can pop up occasionally that the team has to uneasily work with. -
Harvey Dent - Two-Face - of course
