MSNBC: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Vaulted)
NextIteration replied to Jaded's topic in Political Network Talk
It sucks. It absolutely sucks having Brian Williams there for MSNBC coverage. His "witticisms" belong on network television, not punditry driven cable and Rachel and Matthews made a really good team I thought. It was really awful towards the end when Williams was making fun of Matthews at the "Nevada Bureau" the look on Matthews' face said it all, it looked like he wanted to punch Williams. -
CCB and Paula should not be allowed to appear together, it creates an imbalance in the panel. I'm sorry, I like Killer Mike a lot, but I just can't with his quoting Jane Elliot (who I also admire a ton) about uteri being qualifying or disqualifying in a candidate. Stick to gender, leave the reproductive organs and genitalia out of it, that goes double for Sarandon. Killer Mike got it wrong in the after show claiming that Clinton voted for the bankruptcy bill, she voted for one that didn't make it to passage but she did not vote on the final bill, she was at Bill's bedside in the hospital and missed the vote.

Grrrrr, where is my break from these two idiots? @oakville, you owe yourself a trip to Charleston, it is amazing.

I'm not sure about how many politicians have done this, but when he was Senator, now Governor Dayton did this as well. If I remember correctly, a lot of politicians, especially those in border states made these trips to Canada especially but also to Mexico before Medicare Part D, with senior citizens and made a lot of noise/news about them to bring attention to the ridiculous amount of money we pay for medications and the fact that none of our government programs negotiate on price.

Yay Rachel! She scored an interview with Biden for tomorrow night 8:00 pm est (special time because of the Sanders/Clinton town hall) here in the Twin Cities. -
This Ainsley gal doesn't come from the typical impressively educated pack that most of the Fox gals come from, this one looks Fox manufactured by her credentials. No wonder Bitsy loves her so.

Two Bieber songs? Oh man, then there is no excuse. It's on my dvr but I haven't watched it yet, so I didn't have any context.

CCB, you stupid TWIT, that is a CNN/ORC poll of likely Republican voters that support Trump (38%). I ♥ Buzzfeed, more of that crap that Trump has spewed over the years needs to come out. Obama was asked if Trump could be nominated, he refused to answer that Raven, and skirted straight to the General Election. Paul Ryan can't block a SCOTUS nomination it's a Senate thing, not a House thing, Whoopi (and Joy), so he can posture all he likes - it's to no effect. This is basic civics ladies. No tribute to Natalie was a pretty big slap - all I can say is that gosh, we've lost a lot of folks in music in just the last six weeks.
-
I've decided that Joe insulted my beloved Senator Amy for two reasons, Rachel has been fan-girling about her and interviewed her last night, and the reason that Rachel is fan-girling her is that her name is on the short-list of talked about possible SCOTUS nominees. They left that stupid assertion in the third hour, which they often edit just a touch - as we know. (Take out people disagreeing, saying fair things about Clinton and the like.)
-
Heh, this is Albright's saying that she just got scorched for uttering at a Clinton rally in NH. lol You are right of course, that was the purpose of 2nd wave feminism, 3rd wave, not so much.

Sure stretches the definition of exclusive,no?
-
What the heck is Joe talking about - using Amy Klobuchar as an example of someone saying "we need to take our country back" or did he mean she's asking "from whom"? If he meant the former, he's full of shit.

I understand why you think it's a concern (the autopsy) but the TX authorities took a pass, and the family was adamant, so it's a done deal at this point. Your point about Roe v Wade is important, as coincidentally, it is the TX case that has greatly diminished abortion clinics that will probably split with the lower court decision standing, which leaves women having to drive hundreds and hundreds of miles for an abortion, most likely with an over-night stay to meet some sort of forced "waiting period". Never mind the eleventybillion GOP candidates in the debates proclaiming that he's "ruined" the country. Last night Maddow featured the crosstabs of the most recent South Carolina PPP poll, it's frightening what these people believe, especially Trump supporters. She was accepting a VMA when he jumped on stage proclaiming that Beyonce's ripped off from Fosse choreography Single Ladies video should have won.

MSNBC: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Vaulted)
NextIteration replied to Jaded's topic in Political Network Talk
I don't get it either, the RNC said no MSNBC (for debates anyways). I'm mystified. We are talking about this in the Morning Joe thread. -
That's not quite right. The session opens in October and closes at the end of June (it sometimes slips into the first few days of July). The presumption is that with 4 liberals and 4 conservatives that a lot of of decisions will result in a tie. A tie sends it back to the lower court where that court's decision stands without precedent. Kagan has recused hersellf from one of the cases, so that one has seven justices which could render a decision. And some of the others could as well, since Kennedy swings left sometimes. March is a really busy month for the court, they hear a lot of cases then, they generally grant cert for most cases in the fall.
-
@tvaddict, this might help you understand what is up with the 4-4 court and pending cases. Here is the WaPo article I was citing for the facts surrounding Scalia's death.
-
I'm pretty sure autopsies can be done after embalming, but the Texas authorities saw no reason to conduct one, and apparently neither did his family. He is scheduled to lie in repose in the Great Hall of the SCOTUS building on Friday. Alex Jones is a freak, and he's the one that started this bullshit, he's accusing Obama of killing Scalia and fretting that Trump might be next.
-
That's the other fact she failed with, it's an "informal" rule, and it applies to the last six months. There was no autopsy done on Scalia - he was embalmed in El Paso before he was flown back to D.C.
-
I don't even understand how this can be happening, the RNC point blank said no MSNBC. That was for debates of course, but their heads have to be exploding.
-
So first, Michelle looked really pretty today, until she opened her mouth. Sit the fuck down and shut up Raven, his mom died in 2007. What he did to Taylor at the VMAs in 2009 was so trashy, so, so trashy, and what he's tweeting and putting in his lyrics is misogynistic, full stop. He's jealous of her cash, and her awards. Fishy, well there goes all your credibility Paula, have you been visiting Alex Jones' Infowars? Scalia was obese, a smoker and had heart problems. No Paula, the Marshalls were not with him, he waived them off for the trip. Can you get any facts right? Joy? WHAT THE HELL. The justice of the peace declared him dead of natural causes after conferring with the local police and the ranch owner and Scalia's physician. No, there was no autopsy and it appears that his family didn't feel the need to have one conducted which is their choice. I honestly don't blame Whoopi, what a hot mess everyone else was this morning.
-
Sigh. Mika and Joe will be hosting a Trump Town Hall tomorrow night on MSNBC.

I just got caught up in here, I know this hasn't come up lately, but it's my impression that Whoopi and Raven are both reviled by Black Twitter. -
Eek, I can't remember the context now, but he said "Democrat Party" which is the way that FNC folks and GOPers refer to the Democratic Party. It may have been during some sneering commentary about "the establishment" or "party elites". I really can't abide him, adore his father though.
