  1. She looks like a teenager that went through puberty and is beautiful. She managed to avoid that really awkward stage to boot. Ballet, and most specifically New York City Ballet is the only dance genre that has strict body typing anymore. And there are quite a few of the more prestigious ballet schools that accept teens with less than sylph like bodies if the talent is on board, not ABT or SAB, but places like Walnut Hill and Interlochen. My daughter dances with a number of young women like this at college, most of whom intend to pursue contemporary dance professionally. All of this. And actually, Madonna was pretty decently trained in dance, she received a scholarship to the University of Michigan Dance program (well respected and small department) and when she dropped out and headed to New York took class at Alvin Ailey and danced professionally. I sure wish they wouldn't doll up the Minis for class, I get why fame seeking mothers would paint them competition like for auditions, but leave their baby faces alone for class! The Hip Hop was okay, but it didn't have to be very good to place at a fake competition. I thought JoJo rocked her solo, and she and Mackenzie stood out for me in the group dance. Kendall once again brings the meh factor.
  2. Maddie was Abby's horse to ride to fame, I think Abby has real affection for all things Kalani. It showed on AUDC when she saved her and how she spoke to her when she was eventually eliminated. I think Kalani is there as long as she chooses to be. I liked both solos a lot, and both girls did them well; Maddie does look more polished than she did, but no more than Brynn, and yes a boy did win, good old penis points! I enjoyed the group dance too, they conveyed the emotion and did a much better job selling it to the judges this week. I noticed that it wasn't choreographed as Maddie and her back-up dancers, probably why enjoyed it. The big girls were adorable with the Minis, I thought the Mini dance was fun too. Jess, don't be mean! Jill is insane and delusional, Ashlee while not quite as bad - was pretty provocative. I'm pretty sure that Abby gave Brynn the sassy musical theatre-like jazz piece to prove a point to Jill. Yay Nia, first picked to join in the Seventeen fun!
  3. I really appreciated Rachel's choice of Paul Rieckhoff as a guest last night, I know they are bffs (saw a clip of them together ages ago on something Lizz Winstead was doing in NYC), but his voice was the perfect counterbalance to the Trump shenanigans. Earlier in the day, I'm not sure on which show, John Stoltz appeared decrying the whole "pet a vet" nature of Trump's condescending baloney.
  4. I'm a little stuck about something that doesn't seem to be happening. Why isn't each household provided with two or more multi-gallon containers which are filled daily by water trucked in from Detroit for household use? The bottled water donations are great but they are an emergency stop-gap and these homes aren't going to be repaired any time soon. It seems to me that monetary donations (and the freaking budget surplus) should provide for a more sensible, less polluting transition plan. It still chaps my ass that they aren't providing enough manpower to distribute donated bottled water.
  5. They didn't mention it, and that countdown clock was on every other show since Monday morning. I'm sure Joe didn't allow it.
  6. I seriously doubt that Joe would give up the cash or the ability to wax, er, um, bloviate every day about the state of affairs to be Veep. Joe used to be on MTP a lot during the David Gregory era and then right when Todd started, but I think his appearances have been fewer and farther between. I might be making this up - but I think he and Rachel almost came to fist to cuffs there once as well - I could just be thinking of the time she literally got out of her seat on Real Time to make the incipient Steve Moore shut the fuck up with his nonsensical blather.
  7. I've found it sad, pathetic and frustrating that Rachel's peers on MSBC do not credit her at all for breaking this story now that's broken wide. I also find it frustrating that they use Dr. Natalie Azor (sp) who does not explain the problems with the lead testing via blood, and how it's meaningless after a point in time. I'm excited for tonight though!
  8. Me either, though the poll watching and analysis continues through the whole process until a month after the November election for post analysis navel gazing. Nate Silver has Hillary as a lock in IA, I can't wait until Monday night.
  9. That's how I remember it, but I'd have to go spelunking through MudFlats or some such to find direct quotes on the subject.
  10. Thank you. I have come around to accepting this fact as I look at products and where to invest to leave a little bit for my kids. I want to make it clear that I think it's wrong for previous military people to face this, but they have a lot of active support to get their situation changed. Some of us never will. And for Palin to so grossly exploit PTSD and try to blame it on Obama is beyond.
  11. Sarah Palin is the epitome of scum. I can't get decent life insurance because I was molested as a child and suffer from chronic PTSD. Her whining about a choice her son made or was forced into, probably to cover up all his poor behavior earlier in life disgusts me. I didn't have a choice when I was seven, and yet here I sit in therapy without life insurance for my kids almost five decades later.
  12. My kids were both elementary/middle school Spanish immersion students, their conjugation of verbs and pronunciation of words that they come up with to this day are a point of much humor in our home. We have to be careful about correcting, so it's in the gentle humor of the ongoing situation and not a "you're doing/saying that wrong" sort of way.
  13. I can't work up the energy to get that excited about Wallace. She's a proven two-faced "pundit" so when I see her trying to be sneaky I just write it off as being her true nature. She joined the Whoopi gang of bullies during her tenure on The View. That said, there can be the somewhat charming and funny Wallace that shows up on Maddow's show or Real Time this past week. When I think of McCain mouth pieces that actually bother me and insult my intelligence I think of Nancy Pfotenhauer, what cliff did she fall off? I haven't seen her since McCain's 2008 campaign or the equally hateful Carly Fiorina, unfortunately, we are stuck with her as a candidate in this campaign.
  14. Some Greatest Hits between Maddow and Scarborough: I Don't Do Crossfire (pretty obvious that he walked off the set) McCain Flip Flopping I used Bible Spice and Caribou Barbie interchangeably. This morning, I wonder if Harold Ford will continue to show to be battered daily by Joe.
  15. I guess I meant to say, there are always sound issues on the show, especially if Heilman and Halperin are in different locations. Sounds like it was much worse for that particular episode.
  16. There are sound issues on the show "With all Due Respect" lots of buzz depending on what location they are shooting from. I wonder it has all the same issues if you watch it on Bloomberg?
  17. In defense of Whoopi (ducks under desk), Whoopi has been badgering politicians (I remember John McCain particularly) since before Shelby County v. Holder, because parts of the Voting RIghts Act of 1965 had to be reviewed and re-voted on periodically by Congress. And still after Shelby, there are parts that are waiting for Congressional attention (never gonna happen in this Congress), which is why we now see all these voter suppression laws being enacted in states that used to have to abide by pre-clearance rules.
  18. I feel like the only really good acro on Dance Moms was Brook's, the really Cirque heavy stylings. I wonder what is different about Mack's flexibility that Abby hasn't taken her pieces in that directions. But it could be what she was critiquing her for about her very straight lengthened legs and pretty feet.
  19. Oh really Mika? You're going to set up a segment tomorrow with Ron Fournier who just wrote an article about Flint in the National Journal yesterday, instead of inviting Rachel Maddow in, who you know, brought national attention to the water in Flint almost single handedly? Joe is still so scared of Rachel, it's hilarious. Fournier serves double duty, as Flint way after the fact reporter, and Clinton hater.
  20. I can't be the only one that checked QVC and found this contraption sold out, can I? Work with me here! This looks like something I'd actually do while watching the teevee machine, lol. Marie looks so much better in her current NS ads than that clip. I wonder if she was freshly injected in it?
  21. If your screen name is indicative of your area, we don't have many (or any) acro entries in our area generally, never have.
  22. I don't know what the alternative was but, my memory of the Green Movement is that many, many of Obama's most ardent liberal/progressive supporters felt it was one of the first slaps into reality that he was not all that he persuaded them he was during the primaries. There was massive disappointment that he didn't do anything, I think it's easy for the right to tweak Obama about that because of the disappointment displayed by his supporters. IMO/YMMV, just imparting what I saw back then.
  23. I thought that the sometimes likable, charming, funny Nicolle showed up on Real Time, it was pretty funny watching her agree with Dr. Cornell West at times.
  24. No, no, no, Secretary Kerry, do not feed that enormous ego! Not after all the hard work you've done for peace in the world and Blowhard Joe does nothing but take cheap shots at you!
