  1. I thought it was AWFUL, except for the last scene with Claire and Phil. Great physical comedy. As the children have aged, their comic appeal has decreased, in my opinion. I've never liked Sofia and despise the character of Gloria, but tonight's psychotic laughing was straight out of a very bad drive-in movie horror fest. I know everybody in the cast has gotten older but is it really necessary to embrace cosmetic surgery that much? I've never been a huge fan of the show but this was one of the worst, in my opinion. I think it's a good thing that this is the final season. I am hoping that Ty Burrell goes into a better vehicle. I think he is an amazing comic, takes dreck material and makes it spectacular. His solo work and scenes with Julie Bowen are the heart and soul of the show. I usually like Cameron and Mitchell together too, especially when Lily is involved, but I thought their whole storyline in this episode was badly written.
  2. Hmmmm it's almost like going on a show like The Bachelor Winter Olympics won't do anything for your love life.....it's just temporary, like junior high partnerships.
  3. Sorry, I missed your previous first line. I don't actually see any kind of connection here. I've never seen de Niro in a TV show, just films, and many of them were in similar types of roles - a ruthless criminal type with violent tendencies. I don't see the role of Carrie as a femme fatale at all. She's sexy (as a blonde) and would appeal to many men, might even be amazing in bed so that's part of her appeal, and I think her bipolar nature makes her unpredictable and exciting. Miranda Otto is 51, so I suppose she would qualify as middle aged, depending on how you define it, but definitely not heavy set. I still think she looks like she did when playing Éowyn in Lord of the Rings. Mandy Patinkin is 65, but I would say he could easily pass for a man in his seventies. Although Hollywood likes to cast older stars with young co-stars, I frequently see it as creepy. I'm all for Claire Danes getting cast with male co-stars her age or younger. Other than seducing the young college student, I am not creeped out or surprised by that at all.
  4. That's an interesting theory. The only woman I like is Lauren, so I hope she's in the finals. I liked James too until he seemed to throw his lot in with Chris. He also was my eye candy until he grew that ridiculous moustache. I'm rooting for those four as well. Usually I don't find I am in agreement with most of the posters, but this season is full of blah or mediocre (or mildly annoying) players.
  5. Wow, you could actually write this show! That sounds so much like something Negan would say - but your dialogue is actually funny! And pulls together the implausibility of this show so nicely. So why on earth can't they hire some writers that can write? Agree too about the retconning. It's just so sloppy on this show. As for your references - Supernatural, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Fresh Prince of Bel Air? It will drive me crazy all night if I can't get confirmation!
  6. Maybe Icelanders are going full tilt on the tourism trade. The Amazing Race went there this year as well. I have always wanted to visit and there are probably a lot more opportunities with places to stay and more flights. Oh and have they broken up yet? It's been almost two months I think, so we're overdue for that one.
  7. Unless I had the completely wrong impression, I thought Dante lived in a one bedroom condo - and the bedroom had a pretty flimsy separation from the living room anyway. The only other option would be the bathroom - although it probably locks, it would be pretty inconvenient if Franny had to go pee in the middle of the night. I agree that it's been a while for Carrie, especially since she turned down Quinn. (???!) It may have been her boyfriend in Berlin or at least I don't remember seeing anyone else afterwards. I also think the main reason for writing this in is to illustrate Carrie's lack of impulse control. It seems that extreme stress brings that out in her. I like that her love scenes are extremely awkward and cringeworthy - it seems like a natural progression of her illness. Unlike de Niro, Danes is still young. The last thing I want to see is de Niro doing any kind of love scene, especially naked. Oh wait - the last thing I want to see is Saul naked. His love scenes make me feel worse. He's like your strange old grandpa that you want to imagine has never had sex. I think he's great as a father figure to Carrie and a fantastic source of authority but seeing him make out with forty something women makes me deeply uncomfortable. It's not just an age thing - it's because he is so hairy and really out of shape. I would rather see a hundred scenes of Carrie making out with all kinds of men that THAT. I DO love Max though. I wouldn't mind him as the romantic protagonist next time. With anybody but Carrie, since that's a death sentence.
  8. I think I blocked it too! So strange.
  9. I am delighted that I am not alone in despising Bradley. He comes across as so calculating and weasily. Knocked Chris down to second for my desired list of boots. Des can go third for sticking her dirty little paws in another's bag. That is so disgusting! I would hate somebody pawing thru my underwear in search of an idol. Bad form. Ruined my positive impression of her bad assery. She definitely seems full of herself. Haven't really liked her since she bragged about wrapping (Seth Rogen lookalike) around her little finger and then stabbing him in the back. Strategy is one thing, but she spoke as if her enormous charms could give her all kinds of advantages. Yes. absolutely slimy of Chris. Initially I thought, oh wow, he's had a tough home life too, but then realized how much I agreed with everybody else. Donathan goes off to experience his feelings privately, Lauren joins him in a warm envelope of support and then the calculating "leader" pops in to take over and emote. i don't care that Chris is a challenge beast. He reminds of why I basically despise most jocks. The horrible fist pumping and frat boy cry of "Yeeeeaaaaaah!" Please. Look to Michael to see what a real man is. Even more amazing that he's only 18. I'm not bored either, although I definitely do agree that the pace is very slow this season. I very much like Michael, Donathan and Laurel. And completely despise Bradley, Chris and Des. Not crazy about Sebastian either. I was disgusted that he chooses to vote for based on which handmaiden will serve him better. I'd be spitting on that skunky braids. eeeewwww. I enjoy coffee and pastry too if I'm attending a garden brunch. On Survivor? Not so much. I remember an early season (Two?} and a competitor described the camp as smelling like ass. That's what will inevitably happen after their bodies have become accustomed to bland foods. Much as I'd love both, I would turn them down, because I would be spending way too much time in the woods afterwards, with a palm frond or two. I think Stephanie had to go because I couldn't stand to look at those hideous striped tights anymore. They looked like something out of a Dr. Seuss book. I adored those two coal miners. I think one of them had a child with severe health issues and being chosen for the show was a much faster option for coming up with the funds. They were two very sweet people (that happened to be religious) and I think the hook of their relationship was that they were black and white and best friends in Kentucky - I assumed that was unusual? Anyway, I think a lot of people liked them for their positive attitude and hard work. Not the same as some of the whiners we've seen on this show. I HATE chocolate pastries, I'd be scooping up the nice plain ones! Might snatch the chocolate one just to piss off Chris though, because he is SO DAMN ANNOYING. I too, would love to get away to the island. Don't have to share your food, you have a nice shelter (unlike the far rougher Exile Island) and I am wondering....is it possible there is also an idol hidden there that TPTB haven't mentioned in their innumerable notes and hints? I am so glad that I am not the only one going gaga over Michael. He's young enough to be my grandson! But he is definitely one of the most beautiful men - physically and spiritually - that I've ever seen on this show. So amazingly mature - and only 18! Makes me feel dirty.... I agree although it seems like there is a market for that kind of thing. Case in point: Norman Reedus (Darryl on The Walking Dead). His eyes have pretty much disappeared over the seasons, and he was previously a male model too. Yeah, I agree with your list. I forgot about Wendell. He's awesome! Very interesting life choice and again, another hot man. Think there is a lot of eye candy here for us older ladies. (And young 'uns!) I don't feel that Probst's words indicate that the urns have to be broken in particular order, just that they have already set them up and won't be affected by the order of which tribesmate appears. But I can't understand either why everyone would do them in order if it wasn't specified. If it is written on one of those wooden notes, why have we not seen it yet? I so miss that fan favourite! Why couldn't they get another sponsor? Big Brother doesn't have a problem coming up with their own favourite (although it is much lower). I would probably vote Donathan too although I am very much tempted by Michael! Yep, I don't remember Chelsea either. I kept getting her mixed up with Libby. And who is the attractive female redhead? I don't remember seeing her before either.
  10. Heh, I like how it seems they are walking in formal wear thru a field strewn with garbage. I didn't notice all the random articles when I actually watched it, although I felt badly for them wearing heels on a blanket path (on top of grass). I would have fallen head over heels (but not for Arie!) A Dry Bj (drybj?) sounds like someone is trying to pleasure the male partner and he just...isn't into it. And so, it will probably be a lot of work and go on forever. Just like the final 5 hours of this show.
  11. I found this one very choppy and almost overwhelmingly gross. Definitely not one I will likely repeat. Which is pretty sad, given that it's the second last one. They definitely could have done better. My favourite part was Scully and Mulder discussing glasses. Can totally relate to the dismay of switching to progressives later in life. As Mulder says, "they are not bi-focals!"
  12. I did have that feeling too, and I'd add Grimm into the mix. I suppose The X Files can never recatch that wonder we had seeing a crime show with supernatural elements. Naturally, they have all been influenced by this one and then marked their own territory. It would have been nice to see The X Files go in a completely different direction, instead of repeating old tropes. Still enjoyable though. Series writers create a "bible" to ensure continuity and not retcon earlier events and names. I am shocked that this show doesn't also do this on a much higher level, by having a person responsible solely for researching story elements to make sure they are not contradicting what we saw in earlier episodes or by not reusing certain names (like Emily). Just seems very sloppy. The production efforts all seem to go into co-ordinating the actors schedules and not much else, relying too much on a loyal fanbase.
  13. You've nicely come up with all the points that have completely turned me off him. I was looking forward to this season, I expected it to be a lot of fun because I remembered Arie as being very entertaining. At his worst, I thought he would be overly sarcastic and not invested, and that's even more amusing. Turning out to be a general piece of shit was disappointing. Oh well, at least it gave me the chance to watch the funny Dean & Nick clip. I didn't watch Nick's season but now I think I might, perhaps the producers didn't also neuter him. All I ask for is entertainment without dragging the women in the mud.
  14. Same here. Besides loathing her character during that crapfest episode (the worst I ever watched), I was shocked that I hadn't realized what a terrible actress she is, and how she just seems to be phoning it in. Guess you can be a big floater when you're friends with the casting director and floating on the family name.
  15. Ha ha, totally agree. How disgusting is that floor, given that it's in a bar, and a bit of a seedy one at that? Yes. I definitely heard(and saw!) Quinn quite a bit in the opening, and it concluded with the letter he wrote, about being a beacon of light for Carrie. The most beautiful lines in the show, all due to Rupert.
  16. I honestly fell asleep several of the times she was featured on the show. Still, three engagements indicates neediness to me. I thought her tech salesperson job meant that she worked in a mall kiosk - no?
  17. Well, that didn't last long. Ashley and Kevin have already split up. Supposedly the distance between L.A. and Toronto was too far. http://www.eonline.com/news/920225/the-bachelor-winter-games-winners-ashley-iaconetti-and-kevin-wendt-split
  18. I believe she was stating that Krystal was curating a false presence. I think it's perfectly natural to amp a bit whom you really are, to get cast. I can definitely see Bekah using this show to give her an edge into performing and I don't see anything wrong with that. Most of the women on this show have that in the back of their mind, based on how many TV opportunities they accept if Fleiss gives them the A okay. I really enjoyed reading that article this morning. Very enlightening about the process and I actually like both Kendall and Bekah. There is a little bit of artifice in them both sure, and I definitely get the impression that Kendall would love to be a future Bachelorette, but I think I'd enjoy that. You can't be a shrinking violet and have a good reality show experience. And I agree with Kendall that Lauren doesn't really have the personality to go on a show like this. I think she is taking it all pretty seriously. I think Becca took it seriously too, but most of her hurt came from being rejected, especially so publicly. I had a friend that tried classified dating (in the 80s!) and she was devastated when one of them broke it off with her after a few dates. She wasn't happy with him and I think planning on dropping him at some point herself, but everything changed when he did that to her first. Two months later, she probably realized how much of a favour he did her. Arie was just a giant douche. I can't believe how much I looked forward to seeing him. Like Padma, I thought he came across exceedingly well on Emily's season. They're probably thinking, third time lucky. Maybe they just really really want her to move out and live her life. She comes across as very needy and dependent. Can't say I am surprised about Lauren's voting choice. She probably just really liked wearing the hat.
  19. Well, actually I think Krystal is a narcissist as well, possibly they are quicker to realize that quality in another. It's easy to forget how badly some of these people are when somebody that acts even worse (Arie) takes up more of our attention. I don't think cyberbullying is that harmless. It can be an actual physical threat or it can lead the victim to suicide. Oh God. It's bad enough going to a weddings of friends and family. I have no idea why anyone would want to watch a celebrity wedding (even if I really liked them), let alone a wedding of reality "stars" - especially ones I have no respect for, like Lauren and Arie. The snark entertainment factor would be negligible. I must be unique then, because I would rather appear on the show myself than watch any televised reality wedding, especially of these two. The colours would probably be beige and sandstone, with an accent of rust colour flowers. I think that at the time of the filming, Becca was under the illusion that Arie was a much better man that he now appears. Once a man treats you that shitily, you realize that what you had never was love. Probably happens a lot on this show but it was very brutal to tell her that way and on camera. I initially was shocked too that she would want to go thru it again albeit from the position of control, but like other posters have said, she'll have travel, a whole new wardrobe and the chance to meet a potential love interest. The Bachelorettes have a much better track record than The Bachelor, so you never know. She's probably not treating it as a do or die decision, and after this season's feedback, she knows it's okay to not pick anyone, and still have a reality career if she wants one. I think more and more of us don't buy into the concept, so we don't take it that seriously, but from what I can imagine of being isolated all that time with only two men showing up over 30 days, it would be easy to believe your infatuation is really love. So I think she legitimately thought she loved him, and her pain and distress were real. I don't like to show my more intimate feelings either, especially if I was being broken up with, and I would go to enormous effort not to cry. I don't know why you thought the Rachel season was so bad. Rachel had some great men, lots of fun to watch even if they weren't marriage material, and the black men were the best. Very goodlooking and lots of fun. She did find herself a fiance, and they are still together (to my surprize), and without Lee it would have been a pretty good season. I'd actually forgotten all about him until you mentioned it. I am one of the Peter fans. I didn't initially think he was good looking, but I really enjoyed their conversations, they actually had some substance to them. And I think he won me over with that dog date that she brought her own dog to, Peter actually spent time interacting with him. I think he'd make a wonderful dad one day. Or dog owner. Don't know anything really about Ben - is that the Higgins guy that cried more than Ashley on Bachelor Winter Olympics? He is a wimpy weaselly little guy. I don't think anyone deserves him. I have no idea why anyone thinks he looks attractive. Chris Harrison hosted a HGTV show??! Which one? I not only think Seinne is drop dead gorgeous, she is extremely accomplished and rivals Jacqueline in her intelligence. Makes her interesting in my book. I was rooting for her to become The Bachelorette before this wild ending. I am actually okay with Becca, I think she will have fun, whether she goes for a proposal at the end or not. I initially found her boring too (well, not as much as Lauren, but who could be as boring as her?) I definitely felt like we saw more of her personality at the end (especially in the little video clips of the two of them together before the breakup), so I wonder if she just babbled before out of nervousness. I think it would be very tough to act normally in front of cameras. So if you don't really like this show at all and don't find it entertaining...there are lots of other great forums in here, with many of the same posters. I'd recommend that you find a show you actually like, and read the episode threads. It's got to be more fun than just reading about characters (or real people on reality shows) that you know nothing about. I'd find that as boring as watching Arie and Lauren get married!
  20. He seems clueless. If he really went on the show just to improve his brand (as RS says), then he has failed miserably. I don't think most people support him after that breakup, and everything he says publicly afterwards just takes him from bad to worse. What I thought was the most interesting about this interview, is that 1) that Ross approached them not vice versa, and he was the one that paid for his flight, not the show. If this isn't the truth, I would expect Ross to go publicly against them (unless he will be part of future productions, as suggested in this forum), 2) The producer says they regret making Arie out to be less interesting and witty than he really is, and they should have shown more of his personality, 3) He didn't sound confident that Becca really is over Arie, and says The Bachelorette will be unpredictable. Again, that might be to stir up ratings but I don't think you usually see them promoting the woman as maybe not ready for the show. What I really noticed (only from that first photo, that was all I could take), is that Lauren is leaning away from him, and their holding hands look twisted awkwardly, like a Trump handshake.
  21. Really? I definitely had the impression that this is finally it for Alexandria. Most of the development is in flames. It would take a whole lot of rebuilding to restore the housing, unless the plan would be to build a giant dormitory and I don't think they have the natural resources to do that. I also thought that's why they gave up on putting out the gazebo fire. Why save that when they're not coming back?
  22. I think most people agree that it was the guy with the gloves, but I think there may be debate as to whether the general was poisoned when his mouth was inspected (long lingering tongue shots) or when his ass was inspected. Which would be a really terrible way to die. This method of killing has Russia all over it though, so I am wondering if that will eventually come into play during this season. Just this morning I read that a former Russian spy and his daughter were hit with some kind of nerve substance and are fighting for their lives in hospital. If Homeland is going to borrow that plot device, I think they will have to incorporate Russia into the storyline, and it will tie in with the real life investigations going on with the White House. http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/russian-spy-sergei-skripal-uk-scotland-yard-investigation-1.4565820
  23. Yes, Carrie & Max think that she may have been the one that paid off the hitman that got the general in the prison. Her car got a parking ticket close to the prison.
  24. I think overall I enjoyed this one and the one before, despite the plot holes. When the show is over without dragging and I think, "wow, we're done already." I think it's a good sign. Plotwise, I hated what they did to Quinn last season too but I was just stunned at his portrayal of a man dealing with the aftermath of a stroke and PTSD. And unlike Carrie, I totally would have gone for his clumsy pass. Still sexy despite limitations. So miss Rupert Friend....
  25. I just saw that review show (not the 100 episode one) and they talk about having to wear heavy clothes in the Georgia heat. It sounds like Jesus might have the worst of it - he's wearing layers under a duster. They didn't go into details why but I think that I heard earlier the show is trying to stay close stylistically to the graphic novels. (just not the plot, I guess). If Kirkwood was very young when he started writing them, he probably threw in all kinds of fashions, possibly gleaned from mashing up heavy metal music with horror movies. Or...that's the best working theory I can come up with.... 100% agree on hat. Can you imagine the smell of it??? Poor Judith. I imagine this is her big inheritance.
