  1. I think she'll be back. Whats the point of having a Lazarus Pit if you aren't going to use it? Maybe she'll get the Jason Todd treatment and come back crazy. These writers do love to rip-off Batman stories, so its a distinct possibility.
  2. I'm sure the fan backlash to Sara's death, as well as people angry that it was done for Laurel's sake, is the reason Sara is coming back. The writers are probably thinking: "Okay! Here, you can have Sara back. Geez. Now will you please like Laurel?" I hope Sara's backstory with Nyssa and the LOA can be explored here. I always thought it was a waste to kill off Sara when their were plenty of flashbacks to be done with her training with the LOA and meeting Nyssa, as well as her relationship with Nyssa in the present.
  3. I wonder if Stephen Amell is hoping that the all of the show's excess baggage is shipped over to the new spin-off so he can go back to being the lead of his own show. I do think the new show will be a good showcase for all of the new heroes they want to introduce instead of forcing them into Arrow's narrative.
  4. She was a shape-shifting White Martian, dammit! lol Having Ray interact with characters other than Felicity should help his character drastically. He won't be isolated in the new show, hopefully.
  5. Giving Routh backlash just makes the fandom look bad. Routh hasn't been unprofessional at all from what I know. Its not like he is going around acting like a jackass like Mark G.
  6. Yep, the writing is everything. A talented writer can work wonders with the lamest of plots. I can see Barry going back in time to save his mom and drastically changing reality. Then if and when he goes back in time again to fix his mistake the world he returns to is a little bit different. Sara never died, Raylicity never happened, etc.
  7. If I have to have one on the spin-off, I'd rather have Roy. Stick Laurel there and she'd manage to make everything about her somehow. Plus, I really have no interest in Sara and Laurel scenes.
  8. I want her as Sara. Otherwise, whats the point? I think it would be hilarious if they spoiled Arrow with this announcement. I stopped watching the show a few weeks back when Oliver returned to Starling City. For much of the season it felt like the show was insulting my intelligence. With all of the criticism this season has gotten, maybe they announced the spin-off early to get some good press. Bring Paul Blackthorne in on this. Lance deserves better than what he has to put up with on Arrow, and this way he can be reunited with Sara.
  9. With Ray leaving, which hero will Felicity be used to prop up in season 4? Dick Grayson? Ted Kord? Kyle Rayner? My money is on Dick.
  10. I'm happy for Caity. Is her inclusion do to the incredible fan response to the character and backlash to her death? The tone of her character is radically different than all of the others announced. I'm thinking maybe she wasn't originally supposed to be in there, and that she was supposed to stay dead so people would stop comparing her to Laurel. Or maybe that bringing her back, would erase the fact that she died just to advance Laurel's story and we would stop resenting Laurel if we got Sara back. Or maybe (I hope) Greg B and Andrew K are simply bigger fans of Sara than Laurel. After all, I remember many interviews where they admitted to having trouble with the character. Whereas Mark G just insists everything is fine and insults you for suggesting otherwise. But Mark G would still be there and simply crap all over her character. I'd rather Sara not be in his hands.
  11. Obviously the Sara that died was a shape-shifting White Martian! Anyway, I'm glad to have her back. Victor Garber and Wentworth Miller are also excellent additions. Brandon Routh? Well... hopefully since Mark G has nothing to do with the show they will manage to make him not be such a bore. Robbie Amell will probably be announced next. Now all we need is Katrina Law and Dominic Purcell to be cast. My ideal cast: Caity Lotz, Katrina Law, Wentworth Miller, Dominic Purcell, Victor Garber, Robbie Amell, and Paul Blackthorne. (And Brandon Routh since apparently he'll be in it anyway regardless.) For this show to be good some simple things need to happen: 1. Keep Mark G away from the show. 2. Keep Laurel away from the show. 3. Give Ray a personality instead of being a bore as well as a stalker. 4. Make it a true ensemble. As it is, of the announced cast only Wentworth Miller has the chops for the lead character. As I doubt the will make Captain Cold the lead, making it a true ensemble is the way to go to play to everyone's strengths. Arrow's problem was trying to make a show about one particular hero into an ensemble show. This new show won't have that problem. 5. Don't forget to have a sense of humor. The show can be serious, but don't make it bleak. I'm actually pretty excited for this. So, naturally, I fully expect them to announce Katie Cassidy next and kill my enthusiasm for it.
  12. I always thought putting this show on ABC was a mistake, especially after the disaster of the dwindling Agents of Shield ratings in season 1. I felt that Agent Carter should have gone to Netflix instead. If ABC cancels it maybe Netflix will pick it up.
  13. I do hate how dark they made the Superman movie. I have no problems with a serious Superman story, but the character shouldn't be so serious that he'd fit in better wearing a Batman suit. DC needs to stop copying Nolan's style. Just because Batman was dark and serious (it lends itself to it, really), is no reason to make every other hero dark and serious. I shudder at the thought of what they are going to do to The Flash movie. Oh well, at least the tv will remain fun. The only Snyder movies I like are Dawn of the Dead, and Watchmen. And the directing wasn't the draw for me with either.
  14. I'm not surprised at the muted/desaturated colors for the Aquaman poster. DC movies seem to be allergic to fun. They seem to think their movies must be dark, broody, and serious all the time.

    Iris West

I get the complaints about last night's episode, but I don't entirely agree with them. A reporter character is really hard to pull off, doubly so for a character investigating her "friends". I put friends in quotations because I don't consider Iris friends with anyone on the show, except for Barry. Just because Iris has shared screentime with Cisco and Caitlyn doesn't mean they are friends. So logically, there shouldn't be any problem with Iris investigating, right? However, the other side of this, and the reason I am not actively rooting for Iris, is that she has never had a POV. So of course I am more concerned about her investigation causing trouble for Barry, Caitlyn, and company. We've spent plenty of time building the relationships up on Team Flash. So of course I'm automatically on their side. Because so little time was spent on Iris, and what little we had was lackluster, I can't root for her because I still don't have a solid handle on her character. That being said, her investigation doesn't annoy me. Just because I'm not rooting for her doesn't mean I can't enjoy her plot. Mostly, what I want from Iris is character development and interaction with the main cast. She barely interacts with anyone, and when she does its not anything special. Give her friends, a pet, etc. Or how about her relationship with her father? And does Iris even remember that she has a fiance? Iris has her own plot now, so that's a step up. Now its time to build up her character. CP is a good actor, let her have a chance to win over the fandom. She already garnered a lot of hate because of how she came across in the Barry/Linda episode last week, she needs to make up for that. As for Iris being the only one that doesn't know that Barry is the Flash? I'm absolutely fine with it. I don't need her to find out and show up at STAR LABS all of the time. Laurel finding out about Oliver on Arrow not only ruined the Team Arrow dynamic (because Laurel kept showing up in their lair, which had been used solely for Team Arrow interaction and development), it eventually led to me quitting the show. Granted, Katie Cassidy sucks and CP doesn't, but I do not want The Flash to go the way of Arrow.

Tonight's episode wasn't bad for Iris. Now that she is investigating STAR Labs she'll actually be doing something useful with her screentime instead of being "the love interest". I do hope to see a bit more passion from her though about investigating and reporting in general. In her first scene of the episode when her boss was saying how there may be more to Star Labs she looked like she couldn't care less. I just need more passion from her, because if she looks like she doesn't care about what she's doing, why should I? Luckily that indifference disappeared a little when she realized "Sam" was Firestorm. I think that caught her interest. I really hope they handle this right. Also, they are massively neglecting her relationship with Eddie. You can't expect me to care about that relationship if it is never shown.
  17. Robbie was playing a different character in that episode of The Flash. So I think the woodenness was intentional. Although he isn't that good an actor, he was better in previous episodes.

I do agree that the female characters aren't particularly written well, but for me there is a huge difference between Iris and Caitlyn. DP as Caitlyn may not be the best actress around, but she's serviceable and does her function on Team Flash well, and her storyline with Ronnie is pretty good. But the biggest thing that endears her to me is her interactions with Wells, Cisco, and Barry. Those friendships elevate the character for me and surpass the sometimes lackluster writing and acting. I have yet to see anything like that from Iris. No particularly good function in the plot, and no relationships that pop. Heck, even her own father spends more time with Barry. We haven't seen Iris/Eddie interaction in a while, so I don't even remember if they have chemistry together or not. Considering that they are supposed to be engaged, we should be seeing them together instead of seeing Iris jealous over Barry.
  19. Arrow using Felicity to prop up other characters in the hopes of making that character more likable with fans is nothing new. They did it in season 2 with Barry, and they are doing it now with Ray and Laurel. Guggenheim is a hack and taking it to extremes. I don't think this effects The Flash at all. The only way I will be concerned is if it is announced that Guggenheim will also be working on The Flash. Edit: I second the The 100 rec. If you can stomach the first few episodes, it gets very good. Its my second favorite CW show after The Flash.

Yeah, they use Felicity to prop up everyone in hopes that the fans will like them because Felicity does. Barry in s2, Ray, and now Laurel. The writers must think I"m stupid or something. I think one major factor in the fandom's perception of Iris, is that many viewers have also watched Smallvlle and Arrow. They know how these other shows have handled the destined love-interests (Lana, Lois, Laurel) and have no faith that The Flash will do it any better. And let me tell you, after suffering 8 years of Lana I had little patience for Laurel even in the earliest of episodes. With Laurel living up to Lana's legacy, people have a right to be afraid about Iris. Thankfully, Iris hasn't reached the Laurel-level of hate yet. So its not too late for the writers to turn it around and change the perception of her into a positive one. Plus, unlike Laurel, Iris has a pretty good actress playing her.

I already feel bad for Eddie. He's been shown to be a pretty good guy so far. Iris leaving him for Barry will make me care more about how this effects Eddie instead of how it effects her. A similar situation happened on Arrow with Oliver/Laurel/Tommy and it only made me love Tommy and make Oliver and Laurel look bad. Iris is in a tough spot. Team Flash doesn't really need any more members, her job has been poorly handled and feels like Lois Lane-lite, we definitely don't want her damseled as the new Lana Lang, and she also needs something outside of poorly handled romantic subplots. Something that doesn't make me go "Oh, and here's the love-interest's obligatory screentime" every time the scene switches to her. I wouldn't have minded her becoming a television reporter, as I think some incarnations of Iris West have been. It would be something different than what we usually see on tv, and a good excuse for having her on scene when something big is going down. It would also be a fun way to introduce Snapper Carr, a popular DC Comics reporter.
  22. I'm not sure I want the Killer Frost thing to happen, especially not any time soon. Team Flash is one of the best aspects of this show for. Losing Wells from the team when he's eventually found out is going to be tough, but Caitlyn as well? I hope not any time soon. I don't want to see her as a villain, but if they go that route they better give her better motivation than they gave Slade.
  23. I can't with this show anymore. The Laurelpocalypse, all of the OOC characters, propping up Laurel, forced angst, etc. Its just too much. I may continue to watch, but if I do it won't be with any enthusiasm. Its clear that all of the behind the scenes talent went to The Flash.

I may continue to watch, but if I do it won't be with any enthusiasm. Its clear that all of the behind the scenes talent went to The Flash.
