Expedition Unknown - General Discussion
EyewatchTV211 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Expedition Unknown
I think I saw this same investigation on another show, and you remember correctly that facial recognition software was used and seemed to strongly suggest they were the same people. It was different from the technology used on Expedition Unknown, so that is interesting. -
Add me to those that loved Rip in Time. I was smiling through most of the movie. I love time travel stuff and Colonial Times, so I was predisposed to like it from the start. Then, there was some good humor, scenes in the real New York. The chemistry during the dance and the kiss in the rain was great. I normally don't even care for Niall Matter because I find his voice to be kind of strange, but it was less noticeable due to his "old fashioned" accent, so even that worked out well.

Add me to those who enjoyed Harry Wild. The mysteries got a little deeper, although still not as complex as some other mysteries. But I love the characters and humor, and it's a generally enjoyable show to watch. Also agree that the actor who plays Fergus has a great future ahead of him. He's excellent.

Another problem with some of the processes for identifying advanced students is that students can qualify for an advanced class with superior nonverbal reasoning scores and average verbal scores. Then they end up in an advanced class where there is a lot of emphasis on higher level language arts skills and activities. It doesn't go well. I agree with the thoughts many others have shared already as well.

I don't think this specific change is that big a deal. She and Penelope don't get married until many years after this time period (in the books at least), so a lot can change in between.

Julie And The Phantoms - General Discussion

I recently went back and listened to the songs again after a break. If no one else is going to pick up the show (which I guess is the case since it would have happened by now), can they at least work out releasing an album? While I'd still be disappointed to not get the continued storylines, I'd feel a little better if we could have some more music from our favorite fictional band. -
The Baby-Sitters Club - General Discussion

You read my mind. If you hadn't written this, I was going to. And they took so long to even announce that "Julie and the Phantoms" was cancelled. -
S19 Project Runway Season Finale Live Chat

I guess the sleeves aren't really snake pattern like Shantall's, but her pattern made me think of this Sweater that I've been coveting. Honestly, I like the sweater more, though I did like a few of Shantall's looks with the pattern. It wasn't my favorite overall. I think I liked Coral's best. -
Julie And The Phantoms - General Discussion

Count me as another person who is very upset. I was late to discover the show, and the friend who recommended it thought it had already been renewed. It was a huge letdown to discover that it hadn't been and then to see Netflix dragging out the decision. Like so many others, it's frustrating that they took so long to announce it. Guess Netflix's own study recognizing their lack of latinx representation didn't motivate them to improve. I enjoyed the show for the great songs/performances, the chemistry with the actors, and the interesting storyline. At minimum, I would have loved another album's worth of songs. I liked them better than a lot of other music out today. Plus, this was one of my happy shows. Stupid Netflix. -
Has anyone else listened to the Deck the Hallmark Podcast for 'Tis the Season to Be Merry? They actually had the original writer, Jen Kirkman, on while they reviewed the episode. It was very interesting and gave more of an inside look at the process behind the movies, how things change, etc. Funnily enough, something she herself thought was weird about the movie was having Adam sleep on the couch when the house was clearly huge. When she wrote it, she was envisioning a smaller, 3br farmhouse. There were some larger changes as well.

My dad drinks hot chocolate. But his side of the family were chocoholics, which was also passed down to me. I'm culturally Jewish, so I don't decorate any room with Christmas decorations. 😄 I did watch 5 More Minutes or whatever that movie was called. I didn't find the whole movie to be super sad, but it included a lot of other tropes or things that bothered me about it. I predicted the ending of the movie, but that part actually made me cry a little unexpectedly. LOL. I guess as the Deck The Hallmark guys sometimes say, I knew what was coming, but it worked. Overall didn't like the movie, though. Even before watching A Kiss Before Christmas, I noticed the increased focus on some of the older characters and older couples in these movies, where their storylines were somewhat evenly split with the younger couples. I'm thinking it's part of their push for diversity, where they are also trying for age diversity a little more. I wonder if any Hallmark watchers really enjoy the "aspirational" aspect of the movies with the fancy homes, etc. I'd maybe like it on occasion, but seeing it so much just makes me annoyed and mad. I'd prefer some realism.

Superficial moment for me. I honestly don't know what I would have thought of Gingerbread Miracle with another actor, but I was drawn in by the Alex character (played by Jon Ecker). Not sure if anyone here is familiar with Matt Bomer, who is one of the most gorgeous actors, but Jon reminded me of him a bit. Not quite at the level of Matt in his prime White Collar days, but still very easy on the eyes. Honestly, I feel like even the Christmas movies with the old, repeated formula have taken a slight step up in quality this year. I've found many, though not all, to be decent-to-enjoyable. Even the few movies that I didn't care for had good aspects to them.

Guessing you didn't watch the Lord of the Rings movies. Those made me want to visit NZ.

I don't think there was a definitive explanation for why he was stuck in the original future. They seemed to just suggest that he was a nerdy guy with very little confidence, even before the original timeline incident with the cheerleader who treated him poorly. His sister kept referencing confidence, and I think even at the very beginning of the movie the dad said something about confidence to him. So he probably wasn't taking many risks or putting himself out there much and was worried that he would be that way in the future, which he was before Maggie strategically tried to change things.
