Also, I am about as certain as can be that Felicity will not become the new Black Canary. In addition to the fact that MG has said that Felicity will not wear a mask, it would not be an organic development for either the show or her character. As Oliver said, her superpower is her brain. Two other reasons... One, she barely has basic self-defense training and I doubt the EPs are eager to do another Insta-Canary journey toward becoming a badass physical fighter. Two, next season will likely see Curtis turn into Mr. Terrific, who is a superhero with both brains and physical fighting skills. So they're not going to do the same thing with Felicity. That would be repetitive. (I just wish they would show that Felicity is a better hacker than Curtis, so that she has one thing that's her own.) The EPs talked about "legacy". Someone will be inspired by Black Canary's death to carry on her mission fighting crime in Star City. She'll probably turn out to be a homeless, orphaned teen (another Sin character), who Nyssa might then take under her wing. Hence, Madison McLaughlin's description as possibly recurring - just like Katrina Law's Nyssa is a recurring role (KL has another tv show now, so her return next season is doubtful). The door is then left open for MM's character to return in the future, after having received the benefit of Nyssa's training, but she won't be the Black Canary either.

I don't think even the title characters are safe from being killed off or otherwise exiting. The shows are called Arrow and The Flash - not Oliver Queen and Barry Allen. I think if the shows are still successful (by CW standards) and either SA or GG wanted to leave for some reason, the CW would continue the show with a new character playing the superhero. I know MG or one of the EPs said something once about doing Arrow for as long as SA wanted to do it - but really, it's a business. If the show's still doing well, the network is going to want to continue the show. From what I understand, various characters have been the Flash and Green Arrow in the comics.

IIRC, one of the postmortem interviews indicated or hinted that Quentin would not turn to alcohol again because he'll come to rely on Team Arrow as his "family". Therefore, he could develop a fatherly concern for all of the younger members of the team (not just Felicity). Remember these WM quotes from last year? Maybe after spending most of this season prioritizing blood family over found family, the season will end with found family coming first - Oliver, Thea, Felicity, Diggle and Quentin (with additional support coming from Lyla, Donna and Curtis). In terms of blood family... Quentin will be alone since his daughter Sara will continue traveling with the Legends, Oliver and Thea will have each other as siblings, Thea will likely be estranged from her evil bio dad Malcolm, Diggle will likely lose his evil brother Andy (although he will have baby Sara and Lyla), and Felicity will have her mom Donna but we don't know if Donna will stay in Star City or return to Vegas. (We also don't know what will happen to Donna's relationship with Quentin, or if Noah Kuttler will return.) If Donna does stay in Star City, then she could be like the den mother of the team. And next season when Curtis likely joins the team, he'll probably be alone as well since his husband will probably be either killed or divorced (because of secrets and lies) in order to spur Curtis' superhero journey.

I know I said that I was going to drop Forbes reviewer Erik Kain from my media list after he relied on Reddit to make a point (and I did), but I couldn't resist taking a peek at his 418 review. -- Shocker, his review is titled "Arrow Is Dead, and Olicity Killed It". (You can find it for yourself if you want to read it.)
