Alex Kingston in Madison, Wisconsin (yesterday) - mostly interesting b-t-s stuff about Doctor Who and ER, but she did talk about Arrow starting at around the 38:20 mark (after mod said that she now had a "dotted line" to Arthur Darvill on LoT through her role on Arrow)... -- AK: "Everyone on that show is really lovely. Stephen Amell is amazing. (Audience cheers) He's a fantastic ... lead, not only in his capacity as an actual actor, but in terms of just keeping the group together. He's really, really good professional." -- AK: "John - it's crazy. I keep seeing him but we don't actually have any scenes together yet, which drives me crazy." -- AK: "Paul Blackthorne, who is Quentin, my ex-husband - he was one of my boyfriends on ER... (Audience laughs) So we go way back actually." -- AK: "And yes, it would be great if Dinah Lance turned up on the spaceship, or whatever it is that Sara is now [unintelligible word] - (Audience member shouts, "Waverider") ... Waverider. C'mon, I got to turn up on Waverider. It would be great, yeah." Alex Kingston Q&A - Madison Wizard Con 4/9/16 Published on Apr 9, 2016, by Anlorew

Quick ET interview with SA (he presented Best Kiss at the 2016 MTV Movie Awards) - I believe that my transcription is more accurate than what's reported in the ET news article... -- Asked about his best onscreen kiss, SA: "Oh boy. It would probably be Emily Bett Rickards." -- Asked why it was so good, SA: "Because she's a good kisser, right? .... There should always be like a nervous energy when you kiss somebody, and we had known each other and are such good friends before, like, in such a platonic, nonromantic way ... It sort of - it like instills and installs some of the - ah, some of the nerves that are needed for a kiss, that make a good kiss, right? So - there you go." Craig Wack & Tatiana Torres discuss this week's Arrow beginning at 00:34:45... Agents of GEEK Podcast Episode 23 Posted on 04/08/2016 http://agentsofgeekpodcast.com/wordpress/ -- Craig says, "Ding Dong, Laurel Lance is dead." Tatiana says, "Oh, that's so callous, so callous... We all dislike Laurel, but she's dead. And let's all take a moment of silence... Okay, that's done!" Craig then says that the reason he's "so cavalier" about Laurel's death is because he doubts she's really dead, saying "they've left the door way too open and they're selling the fact that she's dead way too hard... It all just doesn't add up." Craig also notes the lack of social media reactions from other cast members as clues that she's not really dead. -- Tatiana comments on the scene where Oliver shows Laurel's photo to the girl on the island and says that Laurel was "his home" before the boat crash, saying, "Fool, you were cheating on her before that boat crashed! ... He was boning her sister... in addition to boning other people! ... Don't act like she was this big love of your life. You treated her like garbage." -- Craig then comments that Laurel's been carrying around a picture of herself and that, despite this "deep love for Tommy Merlyn that she's had in previous seasons," Laurel tells Oliver that he'll always be the love of her life. Craig says that that's "completely contrary" to everything that's happened" on the show since Oliver returned from the island. He was "boning her sister" and Laurel had "totally froze Oliver out". He noted that for three seasons, Laurel has been "icy and combative with Oliver." Tatiana: "And now they're just BFFs again." Craig: "She blamed him for Sara's death. For the longest time, she blamed him for Tommy's death. ... They actually create this bit of detente over the last three or four episodes. And suddenly it's like, oh well, you know, you'll be my one true love for ever and always." Tatiana (gagging): "Vomit." -- Craig notes that Laurel asks Oliver for a promise, then the show cuts away to outside the room so that we don't hear what they say, and then all of a sudden the doctors are coming in with the crash cart. They're both still doubting Laurel's death, comparing it to Jon Snow's "death" on Game of Thrones (where he's been seen filming on set, despite everyone's saying Jon Snow's dead). They won't believe she's dead unless and until they see her autopsy, esp. on a show that has time travel. -- Craig notes reading comments indicating some discord between KC and other cast members. He also notes fan reactions falling into two camps: those like him and Tatiana who don't believe Laurel is really dead and therefore aren't fazed by it; and those who are anti-Felicity who are up in arms about Laurel's last words including shipping Olicity. -- They then talk about Diggle, Felicity and Oliver feeling guilty about Laurel's death. Tatiana then notes EK's promotion to series regular. That falls on the Laurel is dead side because they have extra money for another full cast member. -- They then complain about The CW's "random breaks" because the next episode doesn't air for three weeks. They're looking forward to something finally happening with the Genesis corn. -- As for flashbacks, they note the set-up for Oliver going to Russia. Craig: "The most significant thing to come out of the flashbacks is that we now know what next season's flashbacks are going to be." (They laugh) -- Craig says that "it was really hard to have a strong emotional reaction" to Laurel's death because "they left the door way open" for her not to be dead.

Meaning of "Tomorrow Is Today" (named the #1 bleakest Billy Joel song in 2012 by this site)... http://earnthis.net/the-top-10-bleakest-billy-joel-songs/ So S4 will likely end on a downer, leaving everyone depressed. Then when S5 debuts in October, it'll be the lowest rated season premiere ever and everyone will blame different things for the low ratings - can't wait... :{

Forbes reviewer Erik Kain has actually posted negative things about Laurel in past reviews of Arrow episodes, but he saves his greatest hate for Olicity. Last year he posted an article titled "For Arrow to Survive, Olicity Must Die" - so he probably thinks his latest headline is a clever bookend to that. My reading of his past reviews is that he would prefer that Oliver revert to being the S1 ruthless killer vigilante who's alone, although he would tolerate Oliver being with Sara because they're both alike, while he thinks Felicity belongs with Ray Palmer because they're both alike.

Also, I am about as certain as can be that Felicity will not become the new Black Canary. In addition to the fact that MG has said that Felicity will not wear a mask, it would not be an organic development for either the show or her character. As Oliver said, her superpower is her brain. Two other reasons... One, she barely has basic self-defense training and I doubt the EPs are eager to do another Insta-Canary journey toward becoming a badass physical fighter. Two, next season will likely see Curtis turn into Mr. Terrific, who is a superhero with both brains and physical fighting skills. So they're not going to do the same thing with Felicity. That would be repetitive. (I just wish they would show that Felicity is a better hacker than Curtis, so that she has one thing that's her own.) The EPs talked about "legacy". Someone will be inspired by Black Canary's death to carry on her mission fighting crime in Star City. She'll probably turn out to be a homeless, orphaned teen (another Sin character), who Nyssa might then take under her wing. Hence, Madison McLaughlin's description as possibly recurring - just like Katrina Law's Nyssa is a recurring role (KL has another tv show now, so her return next season is doubtful). The door is then left open for MM's character to return in the future, after having received the benefit of Nyssa's training, but she won't be the Black Canary either.

I don't think even the title characters are safe from being killed off or otherwise exiting. The shows are called Arrow and The Flash - not Oliver Queen and Barry Allen. I think if the shows are still successful (by CW standards) and either SA or GG wanted to leave for some reason, the CW would continue the show with a new character playing the superhero. I know MG or one of the EPs said something once about doing Arrow for as long as SA wanted to do it - but really, it's a business. If the show's still doing well, the network is going to want to continue the show. From what I understand, various characters have been the Flash and Green Arrow in the comics.
