"You see a pattern emerging here, Scully?" The Thematic Quotes Game
smrou replied to Taryn74's topic in The X-Files [V]
I recognize that first quotatation but just can't place it. For number 4, I'm pretty sure that's Bill Mulder to (Fox) Mulder in "Anasazi". I have no idea about the theme so far. -
I wouldn't say nothing against the actress. I think that, at least for me, part of the reason why things seem to sort of grind to a halt during Kira scenes is because of the actress. Granted, it's probably how they want the part to be played, but I just find her very very flat. I do like seeing Cal interact with her, though, and I'm definitely very curious about him. So at least there's that. I was so glad that Sarah was able to get Helena to identify Felix as family. Since that's basically the only thing that will keep anyone safe from her. Like a toddler, yes! Which is probably why it read to me as Helena-ish. But that whole scene was incredibly fucked up, as others have noted, and made me soooo uncomfortable. I could hardly watch it. That whole scene with him setting up for his date was so fun and charming and I just love Felix and want him to be happy. And he and morgue dude are cute and sexy together! It's also nice to get a brief moment of levity in what was a very heavy and dark episode. (And it's also nice to see Jordan Gavaris in his underwear.)

That's the theme I was thinking of. Good job! Final score: Taryn 15 points, Bastet 6 points. You're up again, Taryn! -

1. "Another woman in my bed? Burn the sheets! Burn her. Burn her! Betty the Tattoo to Ed Jerse in "Never Again". Taryn 3 points. 2. "He's hung like a club-tailed dragonfly." Bambi to Mulder in WotC. Bastet 3 points. 3. "I can't believe the FBI is a passion. Not like Medicine." Daniel to Scully in "all things". Taryn 3 points. 4. "Marry me." Mulder to Scully in "Chinga". Bastet 3 points. 5. "Do you have a significant other?" Ellen to Mulder in "Chimera". Taryn 3 points. Ooh, that's a good theme, but that's not actually what I was going for. (Would've definitely included "Syzygy" and "Rain King" if I were.) So everything has been found except for the theme, which I'll admit I don't think is the strongest but I'll wait a bit to people another chance to guess at it. So far it's 9 points for Taryn and 6 points for Bastet. -

Okay, I've got one. I hope the theme makes sense. It's again an episode-related theme. 1. "Another woman in my bed? Burn the sheets! Burn her. Burn her! 2. "He's hung like a club-tailed dragonfly." 3. "I can't believe the FBI is a passion. Not like Medicine." 4. "Marry me." 5. "Do you have a significant other?" -

That was fun, Taryn. I'll try to get another round up sometime today. -

1. Mulder said it to the WW2 version of CSM, I'm pretty sure. 2. Scully to Mulder in "Field Trip" 4. Morris Fletcher to TLG in "Dreamland" (do I have to get the part? I think maybe part 2?) 5. Scully to Mulder. (I'm guessing there.) 6. Scully to ??? in "Monday" Is the theme that a major portion of these episodes either didn't really happen (Triangle, Field Trip, Jose Chung, HTGSC) or happened but then was sort of undone (Dreamland, Monday)? So that the events in these episodes aren't really a part of the XF timeline/continuity? I feel like that's a common theme of these, but I'm not sure if I'm hitting exactly what you're going for. -
Oh my word, be a little more adorable, Gillian. I dare you.

Season 3: Queequeg, Cockroaches and Cerulean Blue

Oh man, I find the perfume sniffing and Scully's reaction to it just hysterical. Funniest moment of an episode with a number of very funny moments. -
Indoor only and no footprints. I did a couple laps of the house to try to hunt down the source, but in the end it's still a mystery. So I can't rule out shimp's leprechaun theory.

S02.E04: Governed As It Were By Chance

Yeah, I have to say that it's a real credit to not only the effects but to all the costuming and makeup and particularly to TM's talent that I completely buy into the clones being all different people to the point that when they're interacting I almost never think about the fact that they're having to use special effects at all. So I watched that Helena/Sarah hug and was impressed by how intense it was and how well TM sold Sarah's terror but never once thought about the fact that an actress can't hug herself. And then I come here and it's like, oh right! Tatiana plays both of those characters! Totally forgot. -
So I noticed something weird about Smudge's paws this afternoon: I have no idea what she got into.
-
That's how I interpreted it, but I'd already suspected as much before this episode (though now I can't remember why).

Well done with the Don Draper and basset hound photo choices, Dougal. They could not be more perfect.

That is a fantastic quote, Bastet, and so spot on. Thanks for sharing. -
Awww, Rasputin is adorable! (There's a weird sentence.) I love a particularly round head on a cat, and he's definitely got that going in that picture. Also, I'm pretty sure I have that same bedding.

I'm a particular fan of torties too, riley. Spooky was actually really easy-going and a total sweetheart, so not the typical tortitude. The tortie my family had when I was a kid was much more stereotypically tortie-ish.
-
I posted a picture earlier of my current cat, Smudge, but never shared my previous cat, Spooky, who in a way is more relevant to this site since at least she was named after a TV character. Here she is (well, was): And here she is with the original Spooky riding on her back:

Which X-Files Character Are You? I got Scully, of course. -
I got cake pops at Starbucks a couple of times a while back--the tiramisu flavor--and thought they were great. Yeah, they're no bargain, which is one reason I haven't had one in a long time. I might try making them sometime for a party or other event because I do think they're good and might be fun to make. Ditto. I got 12/18 on the vocab quiz, but two were lucky guesses. On the other, in one case I knew the word but just chose the first one (since I knew it was right) because I wasn't paying enough attention to notice that "all of the above" was an option. So I give myself 11/18.

Yeah, Alison's situation makes me so sad. She doesn't have anyone who's really just there for her. Sarah has Felix--yes, he's become genuine friends with Alison, but his allegiance is obviously to Sarah and he will choose her and Kira over anyone else--and Cosima has Delphine who, while of dubious trustworthiness, is very loving and supportive of her. They have people to lean on emotionally and here's Alison left feeling completely alone. Granted, Helena's situation is actually far less enviable, but Alison is used to at least the illusion of stability and security and that's been wiped out. Sarah Stubbs seems eager to be Alison's friend. I wonder if at some point she'll become a confidant. That would pull her into a much more serious aspect of Alison's life and storyline than she's been associated with so far--something I don't know if the writers would be inclined to do, because it's nice for some characters/stories to be kept lighter in the interest of tonal balance--but it seems like at least a possibility.

S02.E02: Governed by Sound Reason and True Religion
smrou replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Orphan Black [V]
Yes, I think Delphine's feelings for Cosima are genuine, but that she still at least partly believes in the work of Dyad. Which puts her in a very interesting and complicated position. It also is why I think it would be best for Cosima to keep some distance (much as I don't want her to for mostly aesthetic reasons, since the two of them are hot together). And it definitely leads to some awkwardness in Cosima/Delphine/Leekie scenes since Cosima broadcasts a skepticism while Delphine seems practically like a cheerleader in contrast. -

Plus, she then went back into the house and shot Brenda. They do seem a bit flatter this season than last, but I still see chemistry there. I always feel so torn with them because on the one hand I don't trust Delphine so I think Cosima should distance herself, but on the other hand...I kinda just want Delphine and Cosima to make out all the time.
