  1. Pennsyltucky is a nickname used for the parts of Pennsylvania outside of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh that are rural and...well, let's just say the nickname is not complimentary about those regions of Pennsylvania. I have a sister who lived for a number of years in PA and I learned the Pennsyltucky nickname from her. My understanding is that in the book, Pennsatucky is from Pennsylvania, so the nickname actually makes sense. But on the show she's not, so it doesn't. I really don't know why they changed her hometown on the show because it pretty much removes any sense from her nickname.
  2. Of my two graduation ceremonies I attended (high school and college, since I didn't go to any ceremony for my Master's) I don't remember much. I remember other things about the graduation, but not really much of anything about the ceremony. But speaking of graduations, the one for the high school where I teach was on Friday and for the most part it was just fine, but everyone I've talked to has had the same complaint and it's the same one everyone has every year. It takes too long to get to the students. Because there are three students who give speeches--class president, salutatorian, and valedictorian--but before those speeches there are "remarks" from too many freaking adults that nobody cares about. Like a selectman, for example. Who wants to hear him speak? And then the chair of the school committee. And then the superintendent. And then the principal. And okay, the superintendent and principal make sense, but why those other two? And while the superintendent and principal probably should speak during the graduation, maybe we could limit them to something like five minutes apiece? The ceremony started at 6 PM and at 7 PM we still hadn't reached the student speeches part. The three students together took less than 20 minutes to speak, but I'm pretty sure the chair of the school committee took about that much time just for herself. That was a long rant. Sorry. I watched 9 episode on Saturday and the remaining 4 on Sunday morning. I might have liked to stretch it out, but I knew that would be difficult for me for social media reasons (mostly Tumblr). But originally my whole weekend was pretty much spoken for and we're in the home stretch at school, which keeps me pretty busy. So I was kind of worried that I wouldn't really be able to watch for a few weeks. So when my Saturday unexpectedly opened up I took advantage and just binged.
  3. Yeah, I feel the same way about it. I like that little break. If I disliked the song I'm sure I wouldn't--there have been other shows I've watched where I've always skipped the opening if possible--but since I like the song fine it works for me.
  4. I thought the same thing. When she caught him kissing the other dude and had that look of shock I said (because I talk to the TV when I'm watching things), "Wait, you didn't know?!" I think if Crazy-Eyes cries, I cry. That just broke my heart. Actually, all the scenes of her being interrogated were heartbreaking too. The fact that she trusted Vee more than she trusted herself. So sad. Except that scene ended with her gazing at it like a lost friend. I am very worried about Nicky's storyline next season if that scene was a sign of things to come. I think you could take pretty much any individual character out and the show could survive. But I don't want any of them to go, including Alex or Piper. I did like that this season was less Piper-centric and more of an ensemble show, not because I have a problem with Piper but because I so enjoy the ensemble. Though to be honest I thought it became a little overly Vee-centric. Not that that whole storyline wasn't interesting, but just introducing a Big Bad--one who is quite obviously a Big Bad from the word "go"--and then dealing with her took up a bit more of the focus than I would have liked. Maybe if some of the other ongoing storylines had been really captivating I wouldn't have felt that way, though. I mean, the whole hunger strike stuff wasn't very interesting to me. I've never had any patience for the Daya/Bennett plot.
  5. It was very sweet and also kind of a relief to hear Morello acknowledge that she's got problems. Also really lovely was the scene between Nicky and Red when she handed over the heroin. I actually teared up then, I think mostly out of relief that Nicky didn't use it and happiness to see her get such support. At this point I am so fearful for Poussey.
  6. I really want to stick my face in Sampson's fur. So much softness!
  7. Cooler? Teleportation. More fun? Jetpacks.
  8. Aww, I love the torties curled up together on that lovely window seat. I should get a window seat like that for Smudge. As it is, she curls up on the chair near one of the windows in my bedroom, but since that's the chair where I like to toss my worn-once-still-clean clothes, having a cat curl up there is less than ideal.
  9. Pixel's post gets a thumbs up on me just for picking up on "strap on". I've never been in good shape but I do believe that at the moment I'm in the worst of my life. I feel pretty much like crap and tired all the time and I know it's mostly because for this whole school year I've basically been a lump. With the sun coming out and warm weather finally here I've been trying to make a point to get outside and walk, even if just to run errands around town. It's minimal exercise to be sure, but I think it's important for me to start getting in the habit at least.
  10. I'm actually leaving very soon for my friend's house for at least the next 24 hours. I might be able to get a new one up sometime Sunday, but if anyone wants to take my turn (and I think Bastet has a turn coming from an earlier win, actually) between now and then feel free to go for it.
  11. A couple of these stand out as episodes with epic Mulder ditches, so I'm guessing the theme is that Mulder ditches Scully somewhere.
  12. I really really like "Elegy" and it's role in the cancer arc. As others have said, it's really depressing. It's pretty hard to watch, I think. But that's why I think it's so good because it's really effective emotionally.
  13. Is 5 Mulder to his mother? 6 is incredibly familiar. I can't place the episode but I think it's CSM saying it. ETA: Oh, I think #5 is from "Demons"!
  14. I'm sympathetic because I do that when I play along with non-Jeopardy! trivia games and I've never even been on the show. And I know other people do it, too, because I've heard it so many times on "Ask Me Another". But it was still funny. I thought Andy Richter was such an obvious choice for the final round that I was shocked anyone would go any other way. Granted, if the guy hadn't actually seen Andy on Celebrity Jeopardy! (and thus didn't realize that he wasn't just a winner there but an all-time standout) I guess it isn't obvious, but he's still on a talk show, meaning he meets celebrities all the damn time. Even so I didn't expect Mekhi to do as poorly as he did in the final round. And actually, I guess getting 9 isn't that poor, but all credit to the civilian for that since Mekhi's clues were so pathetic. I did love watching Billy dying over the hilarity/awfulness of the clues. As soon as the word "vagina" left Mekhi's mouth I think Billy was done for.
  15. So is that Scully to "Mulder" in "How the Ghosts Stole Christmas"?
  16. That's the theme I was thinking of, queequeg. Which officially makes you the winner of this round. Oh, so are we allowed to look stuff up?
  17. Yes, but again I was trying to be just a little bit more specific than that. It is indeed Mulder. So what's still up for grabs is the following: 1. There's no more evidence to be gathered. There's only my hope that you'll be able to see past this delusion. Unidentified so far. Hint: this scene contains a much more famous line, delivered from Mulder to Scully, that's sort of cheesily romantic (though not necessarily intended in a romantic way). 4. I found something I thought I'd lost. Faith to keep looking. Mulder to ??? in ???
  18. 1. There's no more evidence to be gathered. There's only my hope that you'll be able to see past this delusion. Unidentified so far. 2. I'm officially among the undead. Mulder to Scully in "Redux II". queequeg: 3 points. 3. I don't know why you didn't tell me. I don't know why you didn't tell me immediately. Mrs. Scully to Scully in "Memento Mori". Bastet: 3 points. 4. I found something I thought I'd lost. Faith to keep looking. Unidentified so far. 5. I knew there was a reason to live. Scully to Mulder in "One Breath". queequeg: 3 points. 6. Oh brother. Scully to Mulder in "Triangle". queequeg: 3 points. Yes, but I had slightly more in mind for the theme. Though that's like 90% of it. I'll give a bit more time for the unidentified ones and come back later to give hints as needed.
  19. All right, here's a new one. The theme is scene-related. 1. There's no more evidence to be gathered. There's only my hope that you'll be able to see past this delusion. 2. I'm officially among the undead. 3. I don't know why you didn't tell me. I don't know why you didn't tell me immediately. 4. I found something I thought I'd lost. Faith to keep looking. 5. I knew there was a reason to live. 6. Oh brother.
  20. Oh, cool! I really figured Bastet had it right. Though Mulder/Scully being under some kind of external influence and them pulling guns on each other are of course related. For extra fun "Anasazi" could have been included, since Scully not only pulls a gun on Mulder but actually shoots him! (I love that episode.) I'll have to think a bit to come up with a new one but I'll try to get it up before I go to bed tonight.
  21. Ohhhh. Of course! Bastet is probably right about the theme, but I have another idea that "Wetwired" triggered, which is episodes when either Mulder or Scully pulls a gun on the other.
  22. Totally agree. But that pretty screepcap was my computer wallpaper for quite a while once upon a time. :)
  23. 1. Scully to Mulder in "Pusher" 2. Maurice to Mulder in "How the Ghosts Stole Christmas" 3. Mulder to Scully in "Ice". 4. ??? to The Lone Gunmen in ???
