  1. Jeff, awesome job filling in on this mess! The baby and I were also horrified by Kelsey last night.
  2. Agree with 100% of this, Tara, especially the part about not caring one whit about Monet's stupid dating life. THANK YOU.
  3. Francesca: "I grew immensely spiritually and... whatnot." <-- Francesca in a nutshell
  4. Tara, surprised you didn't comment on Dr. Jenn's co-blubbering at Jenna's mom's grave. At least she didn't drop any F-bombs at the gravesite -- a rare triumph. Also, on the Treach-and-Cicely front, has it occurred to Dr. Jenn that maybe the fact that Treach frequently "scare the crap out of" Cicely is A GOOD REASON for them to consider breaking up? He's a total loose canon/rage-a-holic dickwad. If I were Cicely, I'd be sick of it, too, but they're not allowed to break up because that would mar Dr. Jenn's track record. UGH DR. JENN IS THE WORST.
  5. Duly enraged by Dr. Jenn's blubbering, as predicted.
  6. Okay, I stand corrected on the hug being unprofessional. But everything she does IS unprofessional, so I'm suspicious of her hugs.
  7. I loved the earnestness with which Cicely asked, "Well, is it disrespectful to keep it real?"
  8. Ew, Tara, you cried at The Fault in Our Stars? Unfriended.
  9. Ha! You're welcome. I wonder if Dr. Jenn's weird Farrah apologism does spring from some sort of effed up crush, or if it's just plain old countertransference! Either way, not awesome!
  10. Oh, I'm so glad I could be of service! There had to be SOME explanation, right?
  11. And what I'M saying is that I disagree that Seasons 1-3's finales "screwed over the viewers' emotions," necessarily. Arguably Season 1 did that, although, like I said above, that finale didn't bother me. I thought the S2 finale was genius. And I was fine with the S3 finale. So we disagree. Doesn't mean I'm missing something, as you implied in your original comment, when I was surprised by my own hate for S4's wrap-up. Interesting; now that you mention it, I can see that parallel. The main difference, though, which resolves in Fellowes' favor (and this is something Matt Debenham touched on in his piece on why S4 of The Killing was kind of a stinker) is that The Killing is a mystery show. If Sud can't manage to logically tie up the loose threads she's tossed out, she has a way bigger problem than Fellowes might in the same situation, because mysteries are so inherently plot-driven, and the entire thing will fall apart if the plot has holes or inconsistencies or twists that don't make sense. Whereas with Downton Abbey, you can fall back on the character stuff more; it's not as plot-dependent for its success, if that makes sense. I honestly got the sense from watching the S4 finale of The Killing that the writers were trying so hard to make it SENSATIONAL -- and to surprise the viewers -- that they disregarded everything else, including logic and fairness to the viewer. Agreed. If you're anti-overthinking TV, you're The Killing's ideal audience.
  12. Really? You don't understand how I could have watched the first season (which I enjoyed), and the second season (which I enjoyed), and the third season (which I enjoyed), and not have seen the disaster that was the 4th season coming from miles away? Hm!
  13. Yeah, the failure to resolve the mystery at the end of S1 didn't bother me, either, to be quite honest, although I understand why people were frustrated with it.
  14. Well, I have to give credit to Sarah for Angry Bird (and Low-Flow Shower Head, at that). I think you'll find that Felicity holds up really well, while your fondness for Noel may not.
  15. I would have rocked this game time, too, if I had gotten Sarah's questions. I SWEAR!!
  16. Obviously I am recording this when it plays tonight, even though I am still not even remotely over the horror and shock of Dear Zachary. I like a good masochistically depressing HBO documentary!
  17. Tara, just wanted to point out that Dr. Terry Dubrow is ALSO married to a Real Housewife (of Orange County): Heather Dubrow. So they're really not reaching too far to "staff" this show with doctors, apparently.
  18. Yeah, as Tara mentioned, I have a whole long list of accents that suck on TV, and I'm always adding to it! Apart from the ones I listed in my email suggesting the mini topic, there's also Charlie Hunnam's accent on Sons of Anarchy (which I routinely criticized in my SOA Marathon Diary because it was SO DISTRACTING), every fake Northern Irish accent on SOA, and Tatiana Maslany's "Cockney" accent as Sarah on Orphan Black (good actor, but that accent doesn't work, SORRY). Oddly, one accent that is objectively weird yet doesn't bother me is Morello (Yael Stone)'s Boston/NY/crazy amalgam on OITNB. I give Stone some slack since she's Aussie and she also said she tried to make the accent a combo of a bunch of East Coast sounds, so whatever. Also, crazy character needs a crazy accent.
  19. So many Bachelor(ette) cliches in one episode. My eyes are already retracting into my head with anticipation.
  20. As I said in my post, I got a distinctly Miami Vice vibe from that guy's get-up. Previews lead us to believe that he makes it at least a few more weeks and/or gets an early one-on-one date, which is mind-blowing.
  21. I am watching episode 1 now and I can't get this out of my head: http://jezebel.com/did-tori-spelling-fake-a-cheating-scandal-to-land-a-new-1566619409?utm_campaign=socialflow_jezebel_facebook&utm_source=jezebel_facebook&utm_medium=socialflow Do we think she made this whole thing up to get a show? If so, that gives Kim Kardashian's televised wedding a run for its cynical money.
