  1. How was The Good Place for anyone that watched? The trailer didn't really draw me in.
  2. So recently I've been watching Vikings but on Thursday nights we watch Mr. Robot instead. This episode really made me miss Vikings. What was the point of this whole season? It took months to find out nothing? Other than that Tyrell is in fact alive. Have to say I'm pretty disappointed in the season as a whole, it was far too slow and the best episode was one that Elliot wasn't even in. Yet, that's all I remember about that episode because everything has been so uneventful. I sort of wish we just had a spin off of White Rose and the Dark Army. She is much more interesting than everyone else.
  3. I'm upset that you brought it up :P But no, I don't care :D I wasn't able to vote @sacrebleu looks like it was closed by the time I got to it. Anyone else a watcher of Vikings? I am into season 3 and it's giving me feelings.
  4. I haven't been this sad about a character death since Doyle died in Angel. I didn't have the issue with Athelstan that everyone else seems to. Yes, it was strange with him and Judith but I think there were always conversations to redeem him. Most recently, his discussions with Ragnar about Paris. I also enjoyed seeing how happy he was to have been given a sign about his faith... .. and also that Ragnar was happy for him. He might have suggested he keep up the ruse to the others though. Sometimes I find it hard to relate to the likes of Floki and the others who wanted nothing to do with Athelstan once they knew he had renounced their gods because, in modern times, I just don't care. It makes no difference to me what religion my friends are or if they aren't religious at all. But I did love our little monk friend so and was sad to see him die. I was also sadder that I got randomly spoiled about it the day before watching this episode. I have to admit I didn't expect it would be so soon. The part at the end with Ragnar burying him and putting up the cross was lovely. I felt so sad for him when he had come to the realisation that they'd never see each other again because Athelstan is going to Heaven and Ragnar is going to Valhalla. I wanted him to convert right there :D My interpretation of the ending was that he has a fairly decent idea of who was involved and was going to get some revenge. I also didn't see their relationship as platonic. I 100% believe that if Athelstan had acted on Ragnar's advances (he did offer him a threesome with Lagertha, twice) that there would definitely have been sex involved. I'm really ready to see Ragnar go crazy. I really hope Floki is first in line. Someone also mentioned how Ragnar just sort of laughed at Aslaug when she was hitting him and I remembered back to his fights with Lagertha and how they were somewhat different.
  5. I think it quite often actually. There was definitely a part in this episode, I think it was when Ragnar was doing his Paris speech and Floki was all "YAY, he loves me again!" and then he points to Athelstan and Floki gets disappointed. He reminded me a lot of Charlie/Dominic from LOST. Both characters being quite annoying :D So.. did I miss the part where Princess Krazypants and Ragnar got it on? I know she peed on him and all but was it implied after that that they also had sex? I feel like it's one of those missing scenes that actually have relevance. I was so sad about he Ecbert reveal! But also pretty impressed. I do always love a good villain. Although, I suppose, technically, nearly everyone in this show could be deemed a villain at one point or another. I like when characters are neither good nor bad they just are. I actually liked the Athelstan parts of this episode when he was talking to Ragnar about Paris. I can understand why Lagertha is disappointed in Ragnar but did she really want to have the king come help her out? What good would that do for her reputation? I like that Ragnar gave Kalf a choice :D
  6. I just went back and watched the part in S1E1 where Elliot meets Tyrell.. if I had the inclination that Tyrell wasn't real the conversation could have put a tick in the 'not real' box given Elliot thinks "an executive running linux.." and Tyrell cuts him off and says "I know what you're thinking, an executive running linux". Anyway, the point of going back was to see if I noticed a huge difference in the way he sounds and I don't. I watched the end of last episode right after it and noticed nothing out of the ordinary about his voice or accent (or lack of accent? I'm not really sure what people are noticing). The only thing I can think of is that they're expecting him not to have an American accent because of how he speaks at home? He had one in both and he sounds the same (to me).
  7. Aww that was a very cute speech.
  8. oh right.. I tend to block out anything to do with Clara. I forgot about how that whole storyline began. Let me clarify. I want a good episode :P Although, remembering, that one wasn't so bad.
  9. Shut your face Floki! I also didn't have a problem with Ragnar getting angry at Bjorn for letting Thorunn fight while (possibly) pregnant. He should definitely have convinced her to stay behind as Ragnar did with Lagertha back in the beginning. I was a bit surprised by the bath scene with Lagertha and Ecbert getting it on, I didn't really expect it to happen so quickly (if at all) and wondered if Ecbert had spiked the wine. Which would explain the moves Athelstan was putting on Judith. That lean over to get more wine was slick. I kind of hoped he'd go join Ecbert and Lagertha once Judith had flounced off. I didn't know there was a scene cut that showed Athelstan losing his V plates. It's frustrating what they decide to cut from this show.
  10. Glad I'm not alone in thinking Thorunn looks like Billie Piper. I was thinking more specifically as Rose in Doctor Who and that they're just as bad as each other! I also think a Viking episode of Doctor Who would be great! I also thought Helga was Floki's slave in the beginning... I just went through and found the scenes in Season 1, Episode 2 and it is definitely another person. They actually look very different when you can go back, the only thing they have in common is blonde hair really. Rollo is somewhat less rapey in the later seasons it seems (well up until this point). I couldn't either and then when I saw it mentioned here it was Kevin Durand I thought "oh... that guy". I can't stand his character on LOST :P I hope he's better as the Wanderer. I laughed thinking Ragnar would get back to Wessex and find out Lagertha had decided to marry Ecbert and how pissed he would be. Hopefully the story doesn't go that way and also that Ecbert isn't playing her too. Is this the first time we've seen Althelstan show romantic attraction to anyone? They never did explain if he was still celibate after losing his faith back in the first season.
  11. I also thought of LOST in this episode but less for time travel and more for a room with an old school computer in it. When Angela walked in I wondered whether they were going to make her sit there forever and push a button. #4815162342
  12. At about the 20min mark I had a look at how much was left because zzzzzzzzz. I can't believe there is only 1 episode left. This season has been a bunch of nothing so far. I can only hope it's a massive build up to whatever happens next. The parts I liked were the weird test White Rose set up for her and how intrigued she is with doors. I also liked the Tyrell/Elliot part at the end. The way it was filmed seems to imply Tyrell isn't real but I think that's what they want us to think and he actually is. He better be, is all I can say because I'll be so annoyed that we got through nearly the entire season to find out he's dead and in Elliot's head. The part with Dom and Alisa was far too long. Sorry Dom, I just don't really care that you're unhappy/sad/lonely, nothing in this season suggests she does anything but work so what does she expect? A thought I had today; Does Dom live in the city? I got the feeling she had been told to go there when they were in the ecorp digs but given the tiny flat she lives in I'm assuming it's her place and the FBI isn't putting her up somewhere. I know she mentioned something to Angela about being from there but can't recall if she still lives there.
  13. Thanks @green! I've been planning on watching the show for ages but others always came in line first. Part of me is sad I didn't watch it earlier but then again, after everyone's misery at the time between seasons 2 and 3 it also good to be able to watch it all at once (for now of course). I do really enjoy how Ecbert and Ragnar are very similar and see how valuable a person like Athelstan is although Ecbert seems to be more inclined to exploit his skills rather than the plain curiosity about the world around him like Ragnar. I can understand Floki's point of view that suddenly (well, it has been 6 years now, get over it Floki!) his faith has been questioned and he's not happy with this false god calling to Ragnar. I am curious to see if he will ever relent to the one God or forever believe in the many.
  14. I wish we'd found out Athelstan's answer to Ragnar's threesome question because I'm sure Ragnar would have arranged that in a heartbeat.. and if Lagertha wasn't down for it I'm sure our good King Ecbert would have been. I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing the triangle with Ragnar, Athelstan and Ecbert.. I was half expecting the three of them to go off together before Ragnar went to fight and Athelstan to the farm with Lagertha.
  15. I'm getting my first session of laser hair removal tomorrow! It's a bit scary knowing I'm altering my body to stop having underarm hair... I've been contemplating doing it for a while but the idea of doing something like that just creeped me out a little. I had a colleague who last week told me she is basically hairless because of laser and didn't have any issues while getting it done or since so I'm taking baby steps.. and man, would it be nice not to have to shave my armpits anymore! Thanks @possibilities, sorry you're feeling so grumpy. The world just makes me feel grumpy right now too. At work we have this feral pigeon couple who for whatever reason decided a little corner near our office (behind a door, near a pretty busy walkway... they're weirdo pigeons) was the best place to build a nest. We were pretty excited yesterday when we saw the first egg! and then... ... today someone complained about it and a cleaner came, swept up the nest and egg and dumped in the bin. Pigeon mama came back to no nest and laid another egg on the ground :( Poor pigeon mama. We've been trying to think what we can do but it seems inevitable the same thing will happen again. So that makes me a bit grumpy... they weren't even doing anything. They didn't make any noise, weren't aggressive about their nest/eggs (they actually were rarely at their nest, I guess they really trusted us).
  16. I will check on the individual episode threads of shows and then the other ones once I'm finished to save from being spoiled. I'm doing it right now with Vikings! I will say it's less fun this one on a show like that as most the posts are from more than a year ago and not active anymore but it is good to see what other people thought.
  17. I also fall asleep reading @Pixel and, while I still read with the lights on and my kindle backlight very low, a kindle to the face hurts a lot less than a hardcover book :D I had a strange dream last night where I woke up feeling very sad because I had hurt a man named Will who doesn't exist. It was a strange feeling. Anyone else had experiences like that? Also, anyone a Vikings watcher in here? I'm currently nearly finished season 2 and finding it a pretty good, although sometimes very frustrating, show.
  18. I quite like him too. I don't know if we've seen anything to suggest he isn't still celibate but we also did miss 4 years.
  19. Phew, I thought Jarl Borg was going to escape for another day. I'm glad that wasn't the case, although I did expect someone to attack Ragnar at some point. I feel like I missed something with Floki and Horik... when did he approach Floki about Jarl Borg?
  20. I wondered the same. It seemed suspicious it was there. The Phase 2 theory is a nice one. I got the impression that prior to all this they were a couple, not just friends, but that Elliot had forgotten in the same way he'd forgotten about Darlene being his sister.
  21. @King of Birds you can choose either % or pages read so it takes into consideration both types of books :) I prefer pages but as I have pretty much well and truly transitioned into the ebook world this year I'm now in the % read world. That's strange @possibilities glad to see you made it back to us :) Today I found out that a guy who I can't stand was hired into the team that I would be managing if I'd taken the role mentioned previously. I feel like I've dodged many bullets by not applying for that role. Earlier this week my bluetooth on my laptop decided to up and die. I have a bluetooth mouse and no free usb spots so I was pretty annoyed. Fortunately, I eventually fixed it and I found there is a setting that allows your computer to disable the device to save power which I have now unticked and the disconnection issues I was having seem to be resolved too! Woo! Also, it's the weekend!
  22. I totally meant to mention that! He just got douchier by the second. I used to like his conniving ways but now.. eh, douche alert.
  23. Darlene's story was pretty creepy. She doesn't consider that the woman that kidnapped her might not have been the best parent either? "But she gave me a choice and a princess bed so she must be awesome!" my first thoughts were that she was a human trafficker. It took a long time but it feels like we're finally getting somewhere this season. Maybe a little less snails pace build up next time, show?
  24. I think that was meant to be the idea. Ragnar went over to the blonde head, thinking he was triumphant and.. it was some other guy. Lagertha is leaving again :'( My heart can't take this Lagertha!
  25. Agreed! I don't even feel any chemistry between him and Aslaug, I am wondering whether that is intentional though. He barely even thanks Lagertha for coming to his rescue, meanwhile his wife is complaining because their new digs are too icky. And yet I don't feel any love between him and Aslaug :P I mostly feel like Travis is laughing at everyone with his eyes, like he's in on some joke no one else is. The crucifixion of Athelstan was very shocking. I think it ranks as one of the most gruesome things on the show yet.. funnily enough, the other thing that grosses me out is when they lick the seer's hand.. ew. :P
