  1. from the article @green mentioned above: If that was what they were trying to portray in Bjorn being a dick to Torvi and making out with Astrid they did it really poorly. There was nothing to suggest he was doing it to show that he can one up Lagertha. Anyone know if there were any scenes removed from this episode that might have explained it?
  2. Glad to see I'm not the only one that thought the sex scene between Claire and Frank was weird. I can't imagine ever doing that if I found my partner in Frank's state. And I do believe this is the first time we've ever seen them having sex. It always seems that they go elsewhere for sex (other than the Meecham threesome).
  3. Only just watched the episode myself and I have no idea :D It took the entire time he was doing that for me to work out what the hell was going on. Was he going to inject it into himself? Into the prostitute? And then he just has her squirt it into his mouth... is it not real if he didn't do it himself?
  4. I never wear makeup to work and wish I could wear jeans. I have never once thought 'maybe I should start dressing better for work' I'm generally trying to work out how I can dress down and still look professional :P I've had a goodreads challenge for the last few years. I just finished my first book for the year actually :)
  5. I don't think it makes Ragnar's loss of belief any less real because we saw Odin appear to his sons. It just suggests that maybe Ragnar was wrong and the gods were actually there.
  6. Yes, some fish are a good source of b12, it seems like a lot of seafood is.. which I don't tend to eat :P It's been a struggle to make myself eat salmon and tuna once a week. But generally b12 comes from 'animal by-products' like eggs and milk etc. Iron is more of an issue for me given I don't particularly like red meat or fish which are higher in iron content than chicken, for example.
  7. My doctor seems to be waging war on sugar @Pixel my bf went to see him and he told him he needed to reduce his sugar intake too and ranted to him about it. The reason he told me to do it was because of having a fatty liver. That being said, when he made me get an ultrasound the person who did it didn't seem to think my results were high enough to warrant it. I have a nutritionist/dietitian (whichever is the one that requires an actual degree to give advice) conveniently up the street (and they have a free facebook group) I haven't made an appointment but have gone to a few workshops and they don't think you should cut out all sugar either and liked to joke that if you have a diet with 0 sugar than you're basically limiting yourself to a diet of poached chicken and nothing else. Given they have trained specifically in it, I'm more likely to follow their advice than my doctors and am working on reducing level of sugar intake and processed foods. I have also increased my fish intake for b12 reasons... I'm less ok with that :P
  8. good luck! My doctor last year told me I had to have 0 sugar in my diet and I said "you mean processed sugar right?" and he replies "No, all sugar" "so, I can't eat fruit?" "Oh, well... yeah fruit is fine" everytime I go I say "reduce" sugar intake and he says 0 so I'm just doing it my way :P It can be really difficult, you basically have to eliminate all processed food from your diet because so much has added sugar that you don't really think about. Things I chose to keep in were: sauces (but try and reduce the amount), bread, pasta, dairy and yoghurt. I only eat greek yoghurt anyway but even no added sugar yoghurt still has sugar. Anyway, let us know how it goes :)
  9. That's how I felt about Final Fantasy VIII... "I can't find anything useful! Monsters just keep fighting me, oh god levelling up grind is the worst, I hate this!" and that's when I realised RPGs were the worst :P That might have been partly Squall's fault though. I'm skipping resolutions too, but then I don't usually have them. I also decided setting goals wasn't my style. That being said I have planned: getting my licence, getting my wisdom teeth out (maybe) and getting invisalign (if I get my wisdoms out). I also planned on a new computer but the parts have already been purchased. The monitors turned up today! Alas, I can't plug them into my laptop so I have to wait for everything else to show.
  10. Steam helpfully tells me I've played 33hrs of The Sims 3 in the last week. I've spent more than 100 on Stardew Valley in the last year. And this is a good point. Not only sports but what about TV (and youtube), movies and books? Are games somehow a lesser hobby? That being said I mostly draw the line at watching people stream games (like on Twitch)... however I do watch people cross stitch on twitch. Mostly for something to listen to while I cross stitch. Speaking of cross stitch, I have created my first ever pattern (although it is based on someone elses image): I made it pretty easy for myself :D It did start with a huge amount of colours though and I was able to get it down to 3. Now to see if those colour choices work out. ETA: I also started playing Super Mario Run today :D
  11. What game are you playing at the moment @Glory? I've been spending far too much time in the Sims 3... I don't even know if I like it but I need the Sims I created to succeed :P
  12. I love a game with a good soundtrack and storyline. And pretty visuals doesn't hurt. Ori and the Blind Forest is beautiful and I really loved Life is Strange.
  13. I don't recall that, only that Ragnar told Eckbert that Athelstan chose his god in the end.
  14. I thought they looked similar up until this episode but then they did the flashbacks and it's amazing just how alike they look! Even Bjorn sometimes as well. The casting in this show is great. As with everyone else, I knew the end was coming and how it would happen but still... sad to see Ragnar go. I feel like the torture scenes went on too long. It was hard to stomach everything they did to him, especially carving the cross into his face. Yick. It's amazing how this show (up until this point) has really revolved around 1 monk that Ragnar decided not to kill one day. He had an incredible impact on so many people and his death really was the downfall of Ragnar. I hope he gets to see his friend again in Valhalla or Heaven. Now to see whether the show can survive without Ragnar/Fimmel and if Ivar/Hogh can shoulder his new responsibility.
  15. I didn't mind this episode but it wasn't excellent. It is always nice seeing 12 solo though. I thought it would be nice to have Nardole (or any male/alien species/something other than a modern woman from the UK) as a companion, someone who knows about the rest of the world and, although a bit timid, maybe he could keep the Doctor in check sometimes. I didn't really see the fuss about mentioning River, it was one line about where he had been the last 24 years... it seems relevant given the last episode was the last christmas episode where he spent his last night with River. We didn't get to see all that time but obviously he would be missing her. I mean, he moped over Rose for ages and River was 10 times the woman Rose ever was, she's a lot more to lose... in my opinion :)
  16. You need to get yourself playing Stardew Valley @King of Birds :D I also have a game called Viridi where the entire game is planting succulents and watering them occasionally. Maybe you just don't know if they appeal to you anymore :)
  17. Lucky :D I also spent nearly the entire time playing The Sims though... I haven't played it since Sims can age and I feel like it's happened too fast. My Sim is going to be an old cat lady :P especially as she realised her boyfriend had a wife and her girlfriend died while she was 'woo-hooing' her boyfriend...
  18. You'd probably be ok with most games @possibilities it's usually only first person style games that cause motion sickness.. so I found out yesterday after looking into it :D I ended up playing The Sims instead and was fine :)
  19. I'm really glad there is now a 'sick' emoji ? it reminds me of Rollercoaster Tycoon . I just played a video game that seemed quite fun and suddenly realised I'd started sweating even though I'm sitting under air conditioning and then realised I was getting a bit nauseous.. anyone else get motion sickness from games?
  20. Mine is based on a 2hr commute a day too :P What's worse is I live in a city of 400000 and it's only about 15km each way. So I don't have shitty traffic to blame, I have shitty public transport where the 'direct' bus takes at best 30mins to get about 12 of those kilometres.
  21. I've been spending my time being Grinchy :P I've mostly avoided Christmas celebrations which works for me. At this point I'll be having brunch on christmas day with my Mum and that's about it. Score for me! But first need to struggle through the rest of the work week with very little work and days dragging out. And remembering I'm there for a long time to come And that my yearly commute adds up to about 19 days (24hrs). So I'm in a really jolly mood right now :P
  22. I had the same thought. It seemed too close, especially in how she was flailing her arms, to not be deliberate.
  23. Hah when she walked in with it I said "Yes, I carry an owl now!" it was so random :P
  24. Finally it is back! I've been waiting so long.. and yet not as long as everyone else as I only started my Vikings journey in the last few months. Ivar is creepy and I love it, I thought it was funny when the slave girl was talking him down and saying how it's easy to have sex and children but not many people get to be the son of Ragnar... considering there are 5 (6 if you count Magnus) of them, it doesn't really seem that hard to be a son of Ragnar :P I found it interesting that Ragnar is yet to approach Aslaug but is kind of just slinking around the village.. he didn't even see her as being worthy of a goodbye before he attempted to kill himself. It's sad to see that he has sunk so low that he no longer cares whether he gets into Valhalla or Heaven but just wants his life to be over. Hopefully his trek to England gets him a bit more willing to live. I hope we get to see what happened to him while he was away and why he suddenly decided to come back (assuming it was a sudden decision), I don't know if I believe his reasoning to his sons.
