Current Plots Discussion: Actually Today's Episode

Or we could just move it to the Bitterness thread. -
I remember discussing this the first time it aired. We got into issues like JJ thinking just anybody can call in and say I'll be late and it would be ok. Yeah, right. I actually think JJ had a turnaround when she learned of the cruel treatment of the fish. Initially she wasn't going to award the value of his pets, which is what they were. Thanks, JJ. It sounds like she's owned tanks in the past. The thing is, tank owner only needed a little tube of aquarium rubber cement because it sounds like the leak was in the glass joint. Or drain it while you're in the shower. It was only a 25 gallon tank dad said.. Dim bulb girlfriend (thanks, JJ!) should have done either but she went to party with dad instead. Didn't she say he put tape on it so it wouldn't spray? Still, she can't be held legally accountable. When it's all said and done the floor got moldy under the carpet and it's the tank owner's responsibility as much as I hate awarding Pescicidal Drunk Dad anything at all. ETA: Rick Kitchen I'm not trolling you, I just realised I've replied to two of your comments. I just know and like your work on the Days forum.

I did customer service for phones and internet for years. What normally happens is people call to activate their phone THEN want to save their old messages and contacts. And they've never heard of the cloud. They've forgotten their apple password or never used the contacts app. They don't know how to plug in their phone to google and sync it over, etc. About phone numbers, there are two types. Some want to hold onto their number until the day they die. Others call in to constantly change them to avoid whomever and then expect to do it for free every month because someone is "harassing" them. Probably bill collectors.

I had no idea survivor started up again. I 'll have to check hulu (ackk) for it but otherwise...

I think some of these ladies wear fine dresses but the lighting is very bad. Especially when you're trying to watch it online. Crishelle doesn't do herself any favors by her expressions I must say. Someone said a while back that Days can't afford onstage coaches anymore. I remember when Original Will won he thanked the onstage acting coaches. -
This isn't completely about the show so I thought I'd put it here. I was fired during the 2001 Bush recession that most people forget in 2001 and that was my best paying job then any savings I had and jobs I was able to get imploded again in 08. My point is, I don't play the lottery but I enter a contest or two for a car or a house because that would completely get me on my feet again. If I win the HGTV dream house I would give about 1K to every one I know. I would fix my existing house (roof, siding, concrete, flooring) and probably still live here in my 80K house. I would get a car that's highway worthy for about 20K and not buy 100K or more of toys lottery guy did. I wouldn't take a 19K Disney vaca. I would contribute to our local animal shelter, our local food bank and Wisconsin Public Television since our governor is doing a deep dig into its budget trying to eliminate it and I watch WPT all the time since I don't have cable and it is all about lifetime learning. I would contact our local power utility and be one of those people who would pay off a bunch of delinquent bills, knowing what it's like to live in a house kept at 62 degrees and still be unable to pay it off. I would buy my neighbor a new snowblower for helping me out unasked with my driveway occasionally for the last few years. My point is, I don't get it why people blow that money. I could live off the freaking interest after taxes and figuring in a meagre 5% interest rate (granted, I'm in the midwest). I'd still work part time for health insurance too since gawd knows there are no pensions anymore and I'm over 50. I just don't get it. You get a golden ticket but prefer to get sucked up the chocolate pipe.

I keep getting these nasty flashbacks to shower sex a year ago now. Days has certainly heard the negative feedback on abiFailure. I just don't get it. So Corday and unnamed writer who is sexing it up with Jar Jar are ok with propping singularly bad characters but no functional couples are allowed? Couples used to have adventures involving witty banter, you short sighted writers. Even when I HATED Bope in the southern mansion at least they had something to do. I think we hate JarJar and Judgy so much because as actors and people I don't think they understand what they are portraying. And yes, Jen Jen used to be cute in the day when they let her run around on investigations with Jack. I've never forgiven her politics, I have to say, so the wardrobe looks especially weird as if since she is 50 yr old she is an ex-hippie (or beach beatnick like Dr. Grope).. I think Judgy wants to share clothes with Paigey. Wouldn't it be funny if she liked Lima Bean more than her own? Carlsbad cavern indeed. Isn't Beanface still a virgin? But damned if she doesn't want to know more about her son's experience. I hope she walks in and there'd BETTER be a payoff. Then she should start spanking Jar Jar over her human dildo. Eve is like a republican. Men (government) is bad so I will personally destroy it to prove my point. As the mother of a young man this disgusts me and I said so often when we were speculating about the possibility. CM is doing an amazing job though tolerating it and admitting that I hate it but I can't stop and there's nothing to lose anyway. Lucas should be the go to father figure but they're tying him up into the SWill storyline. As much as I loved Jack he was extremely immature and irresponsible to his family by putting his needs first by leaving them all the time and I wonder if he wouldn't just tell JJ to do what feels good.... Bad thoughts. With Chad what we're missing is Phillip returning so the young'uns can continue the feud and kill Creepy Clyde. If he were back we'd probably see less of Naggie and her miracle son Dingy and Kate could go back to the KMansion but I'm just dreaming. -

Chad had such a great entry and he nailed the part and the writing was good. Then we had Shrewena lust for elephants shoved in our face and more Jjeve sex and I'm so over SWill I haven't been commenting. I want to see more Kate mentoring Chad but we're facing more Failure pimping instead. So they've destroyed another character. I hope not. -
I Drove to Taco Bell was a repeat and resulted in a lot of discussion here about people who drive without insurance so I won't go there. I didn't hear she has 2 cars. It also generated some discussion about people like me who bought her 74 Superbeetle while having a learner's permit only. I tried to get it insured and they laughed at me when they found out I didn't have my license yet. Ever heard of comprehensive coverage idiot insurance agent? Renters insurance won't pay for the car if the house burns down and takes the Bug with it. And I still needed collision, PD, etc when I was learning to drive with my bestie in the passenger seat. BTW JJ says people don't discuss insurance but my friend mentioned she didn't want her ins affected by teaching me to drive (stick shift) and I reminded her insurance goes with the car. I did find someone to insure me btw. Like the plaintiff, I was happy to finally be able to afford a car and it wasn't like I had someone else's to learn on. Plaintiff seemed happy with the decision but all she got was what she paid for the car which was less than book value and had to eat the towing and I think there was another fee. I hate it how JJ dismisses those "little" expenses.

Yeah, attorney was clearly cutting every corner possible - not paying his bar association fees, not bothering to file a notice of appearance before representing the defendant in a criminal case. I'd like to see more of that. I thought college tuition dad was believable though. JJ's point was that he "saved money" by paying a $12,000 per semester bill in lieu of $315 a month in child support? Use your calculator or ask Byrd, JJ. Tuition dad's point was that since ex-wife followed through with filing to terminate the child support, that fact supported that there was a verbal discussion and agreement about the tuition. JJ established there was nothing about college expenses in the divorce decree so they did it verbally at parent's day in the financial aid office. He wasn't lying that ex-wife was avoiding him at all costs since she admitted she ignored his phone calls and that it was the show that contacted her. (JJ was trying to nail him on 'how could you not know where she lived since you sued her and had to file papers'.) The facts didn't go JJ's way but she sure got a lot of them out which is why I liked this case. JJ's final point was that paying tuition in lieu of child support is a wash, but child support (unless agreed to) doesn't extend beyond 18 or high school education at least in my state. I don't know what she was thinking. The kid herself seemed to have no have no emotions about being the subject of all of this all because she dropped out of school. I can't think she's just used to it and is emotionally shutting it out since it's clear the parents aren't in contact anymore. At first I thought it was great she went to college at age 17 at what sounded like a pretty good school. But maybe it was to get away from the mom? Maybe she had to live with mom again after transferring to Ball State and dropped out because education wasn't her goal in the first place. At 19 she still has time to change her mind. Oh, and I hated how JJ confronts people's credibility over how "long" it takes them to sue. This was a new case and this season has referenced dates in the last few months so these are really fresh so she just quit school in December? I think it's great dad didn't sue the mom immediately (probably not worth the bother from what I can see) Well, now the kid is SOOL because she's aged out of child support and I'm pretty sure dad would have kept paying tuition if she'd just stayed in school. I think that speaks well of him and maybe he was just trying to teach daughter there are consequences to decisions. Oh and she stuck dad with a broken lease too, didn't she?

I'm sorry but JJ hasn't known what it's like to be poor in years and years. We'd all love to have auto and health and life and dental insurance. We really would. It's not even that easy to get a full time job with any of that. Yes, some intelligent, college educated people have poor credit ratings because of the Great Recession and losing their houses and the austerity (punishment) governors many of us have to live under. Thanks for chuckling at the circumstances he wants to make right. It's not just a saying that it costs more to be poor. I got the idea that u-turn guy was a little smarmy but not evil and just hit on hard times. He was in the wrong to be sure but I got the idea he worked a lot and did his best but 20 yr old hadn't experienced life yet. I don't know why she got any money, she had insurance and usually JJ doesn't let a plaintiff double dip like that.

And where's Creepy Clyde? He sure earned it when he appeared over Victor's left shoulder last week. I swear I still look behind me to see if he's lurking.
-
I totally agree, stewedsquash. The thing is, they lied about absolutely everything else.

When I listen to kids like Miracle and Malika and their family I try my best to understand that if they came from multilingual households in their heritage, most of the Latin based languages don't include a form of the infinitive to be when saying something like he is going. It's simply il va or el va which means he goes or he is going. So they might substitute the infinitive and say he be going or drop it entirely and say he go. And sometimes it comes up that someone talks about their hairs (being cut, etc). In French the word cheveaux is plural so I do my best to understand that too. These girls however... I get the feeling they're sticking their middle fingers at any part of being a functional productive citizen. I also graduated with an English degree and am sometimes told I don't sound like I'm from the northern Midwest or that I must be from Canada. Writing and communication skills have helped me get a number of jobs although I'm not doing nearly as well as the rest of you in Walker's Wisconsin due to lack of opportunity and transportation and the economic drain of raising a son on my own. However, it has taught me research and analytical skills. I'm not the best writer but I tend to see right through things like the corporate culture bs I''m forced to swallow. Sometimes I'm accused of being too critical but it's not mean spirited. I was trained to analyze language for meaning and I love some great snark. That's why I'm on PTV.

About Peggy McCay I wonder if it had something to do with the great speech she gave at the WilSon wedding. But Theo? They didn't even use that actor when Chase had a little friend with whom he got into trouble talking about money. I assumed it was Theo but it wasn't. And Abe should be the kid's grandpa.

She really is a messed up predator and I could go on about emotionally destroying her daughter. It isn't just Paige's fault she is basically having a breakdown and she gets points from me by moving out and dropping Mary Beth. JJ is doing such a great job in this role. He is disgusted but his nature is to actually care about what Suddenly Southern is going through. They are bonding over their concern for Paige which is sick, complex and a bit interesting at the same time. KDP's manic acting style is working in this context. Jeannie T needs a break. Poor girl is so hardened from the verbal abuse she keeps getting. I can't wait to see her happy even though I love love love her snark and truthtelling. Ugh I couldn't even watch the coffee break with Dark Roast and Fr Eeyore to complain about Nicole some more. There was no point to it. Nicole is still on the apology tour? Stop it even though I like to see her. Eventually she will reveal Shrewena so there's that. Loved it when JJ told Vapidfail he doesn't answer to her. And I had to LOL when JJ walked away and we had to wait 3 beats for Failure to turn her head to the camera with what I knew would be a gaping mouth. He should move into the dorms too. Didn't Shawn and Belle live in the dorm? Trust me, a 20 year old does not want to be hugged by his mother several times a day. And she peeks into his room too?? Um, no. What was hysterical was the way Slappyfail kept following her mother step by step demonstrating what we all know is Failure following in Judgy's footsteps. As for today I saw Dark Roast again, was amazed by Jordan's boobies and when I muted Strawberry Shortcake's giggling I fell asleep. -
The Clothing Thread: What The Heck Are They Wearing?
QuelleC replied to Rick Kitchen's topic in Days Of Our Lives
I'm going to ignore for a minute it's grey/black/white week on Days but still... Poor Nicole looks like Cruella Deville Linebacker. Hope's vertical and horizontal stripes make me scream tv test pattern. Jenn's kaleidoscope top was equally distracting but at least I wasn't looking at her straw head. (To be fair, I heard she is a swimmer therefore the great arms but it destroys your hair.) Jordan's big boobies under the chain holding the top of her too tight dress together? WFT for work. Jeannie T wore a more demure dress that was very similar with a cleavage cutout. So...anything grey and tweedy is fine for work? While Jeannie looked great with the Clara Bow lips as long as she doesn't do it every day, everyone was wearing too much makeup to compensate for the clothing color I guess. I didn't mind the additional color, it just looked like a ton of foundation on everybody. -

The first thing I thought of when Jackson was stabbed in the back was the fact they wouldn't need to put bandage on his naked torso. My bad. I prefer Casey Moss except the scenes with Southern make me turn away. I remember Dena being just awful a while back but can someone give me a brief background on what a TomSell is? I watched last week all at once. I'm glad I did to see the Jackson story play out like a movie. But damned if there weren't excessive scenes of Nicole begging Dingy. I'll say it again, for a real life couple there is NOTHING THERE. In fact, I found myself actually preferring the Toothy Brady sex (sitting on his lap wasn't a bad thing imho) when they kept cutting to more whining NIcole. I don't know how she stands being used this way as an actress. And I guess Fr Eeyore has picked up some pointers about throwing shade and angrily questioning women. We know Shrewena is up to something but the jerk is all prebubescent about allowing a girl into his room, made it clear he wasn't interested, then sprung the ski lodge trip on her and was angry she didn't behave exactly as he wanted. Very hard to watch. I agree with whomever said Shrewena doesn't look interested at all. But he's such a jerk I hope she uses him. And the "problem" with switching the elephants is way past stupid. How the hell did Hope's passport get wedged in the wall. Did I miss something? LOL to whomever noted that Naggie not only went home to change clothes, she got a whole new 'do. -
That's exactly right. They owe you a defense as I said in another post, and if you file an answer with wrong or incomplete information or not asserting the right defense under the law, the insurance company is pretty much stuck with that. I think this was one of those cases where JJ had read the filing documents and knew more than we did. Plaintiff mugging for the camera and the fact that no one disputed that at the scene they decided to each pay their own damages and not report it leads me to believe that even though it was a rear ender, plaintiff did something incredibly stupid such as texting while driving or braking for no reason. Maybe defendant could show skid marks showing she kept a proper distance, etc. In fact it takes quite a bit of evidence not to call a rear ender 100% at fault. Often an insured doesn't want to report an accident because they've already had accidents but part of the contract is that you have to report them timely so she could jeopardize her right to a defense potentially. And it destroys the credibility of the insured. If the insurance company gets a prompt report they can get usually get a statement from the other party up front and I can't stress how important that is to protect yourself..

Paige is a victim of the writing, I don't really blame her for being sour about it onscreen. MA and KdP however are veterans and should have risen above it as AZ has done for years. BTW I loved it when AZ was EJ's political wife doing the dirty work even though I would have voted for Abe. Gosh AZ really does love her men and the only evil is trying to keep them hence the stupid mistakes. That's why Sami bugged her so badly apart from the fact EJ purportedly loved her. Sami's motivation to be loved was similar. Will is different, he gets love almost as much as Abby and is almost as stupid. -
My retinas are scarred over google eyes the man last week. I was talking about the audience member who I'd like to identify. And yeah JJ specified prescription drugs so good for her. I hope he's ok. His mother nodded in agreement.

Current Plots Discussion: Actually Today's Episode

Beansy! I usually watch my episodes on YT from somebody called HD Promo and they knock out an episode in 36 min and it'll be up tonight yet. I'm so through with Hulu's commercials and nbc.com's player looks like crap on my old puter although adblock works there. In fact I must have fallen asleep watching Jeannie T call out Abifail, I'm assuming that was Friday? What a much better story this would have been with Chandler. I'm sure he's doing well in school. And to think they touted GW's acting ability when he was hired... -
Fried Green Tomatoes. I love that movie and am a big fan of both actresses to this day. Could somebody post a picture of Googly Eyes? I'm sure I've seen her but I don't get to watch every day. Spot on comment. But I don't feel he was stupid, I'm glad he stood up for himself to be treated decently. As we've discussed here when the suits are filed in small claims court most people aren't anticipating going on JJ but when the offer comes up there's the guarantee an award will be paid. I remember about a dozen pages ago we had a great discussion on how the litigants are compensated. Workers' rights are being eroded mostly by state legislatures all over the country sure it's political but it's a fact. Wow, today's episodes. It seems like this season JJ is playing The Explainer as to how she is coming to her opinion such as repeating how likely lady defendant's mother was to be sued over Cujo pitbull. I like it a lot but it does drag out the cases a little. I'd hate to live in that neighborhood and he's lucky the plaintiffs liked dogs. I laughed in the hallterview when he admitted he owned a muzzle. Why would you unless you knew your dog was nasty? I also had to laugh at Blonde Trophy Wife Plaintiff who was nodding yes yes yes at the thought of getting a judgment lien against defendant's house while Mr. Plaintiff was sort of agape at the thought of it. I wonder what their backstory is. I can't wait to hear what the rest of you think.

I don't agree with the author wanting to expand Abby's role and I barely remember Peter Blake other than a few scenes with Kristen (I think we were mostly watching Sesame Street around that time) but the above has some interesting possibilities to tie everything together. Thanks, LP! ETA First of all Lucas/Adrienne yuck but this is kind of weird because while I would love to see more Kate/Vic interaction if the author wants Phillip to take over the business I doubt Kate would want to stay as Chad's mentor. But maybe that would lead to Kate/Vic sparring getting hot and they could reunite and she could light a little bit of fire under him. Naggie must have stopped fspiking his food with ground up Premarin lately or he's built up a tolerance so she should just go hit the bottle already and head off to a meeting never to return.
