  1. I like Page, but the rest of them are a big snooze. Alison and the Property Bros will probably show up as judges. Can't stand any of them and Ty is just a hot mess. HGTV programming has been a huge disappointment for months now. About all I watch is House Hunters and that's even getting weird with women who want a castle because they are a "queen" and others who want "grand" and the "wow" factor to show the world that they've "made it". 🥱
  2. Many of my neighbors here in Georgia have front 'rocking chair' porches, but they seldom sit out there. Our house had a deck out back when we bought it in 1987 and we replaced the deck with a screened in sun porch nine years ago. I love it and spent the entire afternoon out there today--the first day this year that the temperature hit 83 degrees. With low humidity it was perfect porch weather. In the heat of the summer I run the two ceiling fans and often watch tv out there at night.
  3. Wait until they get their first power bill for A/C! Maybe then he'll get used to being a bit warmer inside. 🤣
  4. Interestingly, the wife was always wearing a sweater and talked about setting up her home gym in the garage, which I doubt is air conditioned.
  5. That Grosse Pointe Farms house was described as mid-century, but I thought it was a typical 1960s style tri-level. Not at all mid-century modern.
  6. I shared a room with my youngest brother (8 years younger than me) until I was a teenager and we moved into a house that had four bedrooms. Until then we only had two or three bedrooms--for some years my parents slept on the sofa bed. Two of my brothers always shared a room. We never felt like we were deprived.
  7. My late husband's employer transferred him twice. Both times the movers packed everything and I unpacked some things after the first move (my choice). After the second move I stood back and watched them unpack everything. They even hung pictures and my husband's tie rack in his closet.
  8. LOL! I thought the pool area was nice, but that mural was tacky at best.
  9. The house hunters who want to live close to their favorite rest-AH-runts are cringe-worthy.
  10. That is if you don't simplify your holiday and dine out in a rest-uh-runt.
  11. Agreed. After all the talk about custom features for their house it's a head scratcher when they turn around and talk about resale, particularly since they just refused an offer to sell the resort and then show all the ongoing maintenance that needs to be done at the resort.
  12. Good thing she didn't pick the house close to Savannah. Depending exactly on its location that drive to Statesboro could not only be long, but the roads are through the countryside and not the best. One year my husband and I had an accident when a deer ran into our car when we were between Savannah and Statesboro. It's not an uncommon occurrence, There's a lot of open space in that part of Georgia and no interstate along that route.
  13. Who wallpapers their laundry room? My laundry room is sometimes humid, especially when I use hot water for loads of linens. And they are in Florida where humidity is brutal. Just seems a poor choice for walls in a laundry room or bathroom.
  14. When my stepson's wife, who was 63 years old at the time, showed up in ripped jeans my husband told her she looked like shit and should change before we went to dinner at Ruby Tuesday. I secretly applauded my husband. The daughter-in-law did look like shit.
  15. Agreed. They spent tens of thousands on the hangar and office and should have gotten permits finalized before demolishing the interior of the house. They could have lived in it while awaiting the permitting approval. They seem to do everything backasswards (my late husband's term for stupid decisions). Once the permits were in place they could have moved to a rental. They are quite foolish.
  16. I laughed out loud when Bryan dropped in on Sarah at her office where she obviously has nothing to do except think of changes she wants made to add costs and construction time to the house that they will never finish. I really feel sorry for their neighbors.
  17. Personally, I think this show has jumped the shark. It's totally unwatchable,
  18. Thank you for explaining. This is the first time I've watched AGT and didn't understand the format.
  19. I'm not a follower of AGT, but what's with all the performers from other countries? The most talented AMERICAN on AGT is definitely Drake.
  20. The first thought I had when the lady with uncombable hair was introduced was "why not get a shorter hairstyle?" She had a very good result after being referred to an expert stylist. I would have liked to see what the stylist actually did and what she used to achieve the result.
  21. I have a friend who used to live in that Wellington, FL "fly-in" neighborhood. She's horrified by the mess Bryan and Sarah have made of that house and so glad she's no longer their neighbor. I agree that it made no sense to work on an office for Sarah's non-existent "business" and make improvements in the perfectly adequate airplane hangar before completing the house. From what Bryan said tonight they don't even have permits for the second story they plan to add to the house. I'd sure never hire them to do any work on my home. CrazyInAlabama is certainly right about hardwood floors in Florida. There's a good reason people put in tile floors there.
  22. We covered paneling with canvas backed wallpaper that was textured to look like corduroy. It turned out really nice and the ivory color really brightened up our family room and kitchen.
  23. Add to her inexperience the fact that they are so behind schedule with work on their own house. Bryan has mentioned several times that they don't have "contacts" in Florida with contractors, subs, etc. and it was even mentioned that subs working on her office weren't getting things done on time. After seeing the mess they are in--much of it created by Sarah, I sure wouldn't want her anywhere near my home. Bryan is also displaying his own selfishness by prioritizing work on his airplane hangar and his 10-day RV jaunt. Something else... I wonder why their resort is closed in the "off" season. I was a travel writer before retiring and am unaware of any other resorts in the Bahamas routinely closing for the "hurricane season" which, incidentally is from June 1 through November 1. 🤣
