  1. I often feel Lea Michele turns it up to 11 when it's not completely necessary, New York State of Mind I think is a clear example. And much as the character of Marley made me want to throw things at the TV I love Melissa Benoit's voice especially on this and Chasing Pavements. I read something a few weeks ago about how singers over singing and belting song when its not necessary, is a complaint in musical theatre generally, so it's not just Glee.
  2. Tina's head injury dream from 'New Directions' would make an awesome season 6. (Mike would so win her back!!)
  3. That's insult to crap thrown at walls. ;) I now wish season 6 was going to be Rachel in LA starring in a show about a high school glee club. And that sounded dreadful a few weeks ago.
  4. This. What I will never get is how they suddenly change everything at the end of season 3. From day one they knew these characters had a limited shelf life in a school setting why not have graduating characters every year and new members joining at the start of every season.
  5. There doesn't have to be precedent for something to work. The only reason season 4/5 didn't do as well were dire scripts.
  6. Word. Seriously what did this girl have to whine about? She was talented, the glee club accepted her almost straight away, the alumni were her biggest fans, and the two hottest guys at the school were fighting over her. The only thing I ever liked about the Marley/Jake/Ryder triangle were the rare occasions it became about Jake and Ryder's relationship. I don't mean it in a slashy way, but they were actually quite interesting together. (Although if the show had gone down that road I wouldn't have complained!)
  7. I'm torn with both the noobs and the alumni who weren't kept on as regulars. I'd like to see them again, as they were some of my favourite characters and performers. But I fear their characters would be further assassinated and I would be embarrassed for the actors working on those scripts.
  8. I was watching bits of season 4 over the past couple of days and I noticed a few things I'd either forgotten or didn't notice first time around: Jesus Christ they laid it on thick about Marley being so special and so freakin wonderful, and how fragile she was, especially from the graduated students. Finn, Quinn, Mercedes, Mike and Santana all pitch in. None of the other noobs actually has any agency apart from Marley they're all built round her. Jake and Ryder to fight over her, Kitty to be her enemy. But frankly I never got any motivation for any of them doing any of that. My god Blaine and Sam were annoying. Everytime they were on screen together I wanted to slap something (generally them). Grease cast just about everyone wrongly. They hinted at a Tike reunion and never followed through. Bastards.
  9. Jake dances to Nasty/Rhythm Nation. Pretty much if Jacob Artist or Harry Shum dances I'm happy enough. Script wise definitely. I think the music/performances were better in season two and three.
  10. Totally. The big change I noticed from season 4 and 5 is I can't tell from twitter when the show's being broadcast in the UK. The early season my timeline was practically full of people watching and commenting. Frankly if it was for the fact I follow several cast members I probably wouldn't see any reaction on twitter when its broadcast in the US either.
  11. While I know that seasons 1-3 are better, there are still somethings I love about seasons 4 and 5. I like the noobs, and much as I hated Tina's story lines I did like getting to see more of Jenna Ushkowitz perform. I can't completely hate Night of Neglect or Puppet Master given they contain two of the best dance routines ever on the show. I'm with you on Dynamic Duet, and I'll add Promasaurus I don't think Glee ever had a "Golden Age" even season one had some real clunkers of episode, and this was a creative team never on a first name basis with continuity. But Glee was a phenomenon, partly because it was so different from anything seen before. But partly because they tapped into something with the 'loser' tag they gave the characters. I actually find it hard to believe those in charge managed to screw it up so badly!
  12. To an extent I think RM was right, (I know, I'll wash my mouth out with soap and water later!). The choir room was the heart of the show. It should've remained centred on McKinley, it's perfectly feasible to change the cast and keep the setting especially in a high school show. But he made two rods for his own back which meant that would never work. The first was making Rachel and Finn the protagonist and concentrating on them for three seasons. Understandably people became more interested in their story rather than the glee club. For glee club to change members it should've had a consistent protagonist - Will, his character became increasingly irrelevant after season one, and frankly Matthew Morrison has been wasted for years in that role. The other was making the newbies watered down versions of previous characters and recycling storylines. Neither of these was necessary and smacked of complete laziness and arrogance on the part of those running the show. I do think you can change the characters in the choir room but any characters still need to be well written and well defined. There was no need to recycle storylines, again just smacks of laziness. I can think of a several different story lines the new characters could've had that would've been something different, and if I can do it why can't professional writers? I also think the music choices for the newbies were awful, they were all pretty impressive when the got a song that suited them, unfortunately that rarely happened. I hated the NY only eps, I can't explain it. Characters I liked at McKinley I found annoying in NY, characters I found tolerable as part of an ensemble I hated in NY. They came across as a bunch of self-absorbed assholes. I think the show may have sunk sooner if it focused completely on NY from season 4.
  13. It's just the Irish spelling, it's pronounced 'Ian', so not that odd. The actor is from Dublin.
  14. That would have more comedy potential than Rachel in the Mr Shue role.
  15. Also wasn't the choir room going to be turned into a computer lab? Season 6 could be saved by shirtless Jake, Mike and Ryder!!
  16. I also pointed to Ziva's build, she's skinny, she has no muscle, and she's slight. Put that up against a 6ft plus man who built like a brick shithouse and no amount of training will save a woman. He fight scenes were comical and unrealistic. The scene where she's with Tony's father undercover should've ended up with them both dead. To be fair to NCIS it's not the only show guilty of that, Hawaii Five-0, NCIS LA are also guilty of it. In fact the only show where I bought the woman had the self-defence skills they claimed was Megan Reeves on Numb3ers.
  17. Harry Shum has a new show out in the autumn. http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/06/11/fake-off-judges/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
  18. Regardless of how our views on Glee conflict, I think we can all bank on that!
  19. I thought Ziva's fight scene bordered on the comical. It was in no way ever believable that a woman of that size, and more importantly build, could fight like that. The scenes where they suggested she could take on Tony, McGee or even Gibbs were hilarious. They're all 6ft plus with military or law enforcement training, they would snap her in two. They only had her fight Tony when he was injured so her getting the upper hand was believable. One other reason I love Kate over Ziva is Kate never used her sexuality to get anything. In fact in one scene I felt like jumping into my Tv to give Kate the highest of fives. She's trying to get information for a case and she tells Abby a guy has the hots for her and has been pestering her for a date. She doesn't agree to the date but threatens him with a report of sexual harassment unless he helps her.
  20. I'd like Jake and Ryder too. Jake for the dancing and the pretty, Ryder just for the pretty. * *Shallow? Me? :D
  21. If only Unique returns who else is in New Directions? And why would Rachel be in Lima? Ugh sounds awful.
  22. Mark Salling is playing for the Rest of the World in tonight's Soccer Aid at Old Trafford. http://www.unicef.org.uk/players.html
  23. I believe it's canon that Puck screwed all of the unholy trinity!
  24. I've seen him in lots of things too but it's Bones he sticks in my mind from. He's one of the reasons I'll be watching this show.
  25. I have a feeling this show won't meet a cliché it doesn't like. I like it and thought it was dreadful at the same time, so I'll be back next week. I have a feeling the show would be so much better without Dr Manpain.
