One unfortunate side effect of these GLP-1s is sarcopenia -- the loss of muscle mass, strength, and function which is normally associated with aging, but which appears to be accelerated in users of this drug. Should be interesting to see the long-term ramifications with now one in seven Americans taking it. Whitney was definitely having trouble scaling that hill and even controlling her descent and noted that her elderly father, in contrast, was acing it.

The Slatons in the Media: Anything for a Dollar

There's Amy turning on the waterworks to garner sympathy at the end of the very first episode. She's like "Old Faithful." It was bittersweet seeing Li'l Bit again! -
Where was she "just an office clerk"? I was under the impression that she worked in finance. I agree that Ginger will have all the facts here!

I'm tired of hearing about how poor Janelle is. Wasn't she always "the career woman"? In one clip early on, it looked like she was walking around on the Utah Capitol grounds. We know she was at least a state government employee. The pay is decent, and the benefits are pretty amazing. I have no doubt she worked there long enough to qualify for a nice pension, and health insurance is covered for life. Additionally, she just bought a "farm" with one of her kids, so she must've had some cashola. I think Janelle is financially fine despite the plot lines dreamed up by production. In fact, I'm sure TLC has made every one of them quite wealthy.

Ariella. I think both Janelle and (especially) Christine are being very spiteful and childish about the whole thing. Maybe some of it is producer-driven to keep the dramaz going, and if so okay, but jeez, LET IT GO. Marriages (spriritual or otherwise) don't always work out. Move on. They claim to be moving on while remaining obsessed with Kody and especially trying to make him jealous or regretful that he "lost" them. I just saw a pic of Christine and David recreating K&R's love pose in front of a white sports car. Really? GROW UP. Kody was pretty transparent, I thought, about falling madly in love for the first time in his life with this woman Meri, by the way, foisted on him. So maybe he should've just said, "I'm now a monogomist; sorry," but he claims he couldn't due to his religion, so he was passive aggressive about trying to convey the message that he was over it. That was his failing. But they're all pushing 60 now. Stop acting like junior high kids.

According to Google, she was born in January 2016.

I thought Solomon was 11 in that scene, so Ari would've been 9. That's still young for puberty, but I guess kids develop early these days! She also seems not to take after Robyn and Solomon, with their very slight builds.
-
Isn't Ari actually developing and wearing a bra, and isn't she only 8? That does seem incongruous with throwing tantrums and still using a pacifier, if she is. I would never criticize children, but both she and Solomon and even Truly are very different from the other, older kids. Ari had two much older sisters and an older brother who were full siblings, isolated with her during Covid during her babyhood and then when the family split, and no doubt treated her like their own personal baby doll. Additionally, being K&D's last shared child, she would be especially "cherished." Not that this has been good for her...

Yeah; I can see Bill being a bit "money-grubbing" - he came from humble beginnings and seems quite proud of having moved up in the world - and Jen likes to shop for her nice things. Just because they have other streams of income doesn't mean they can't want more. -
I mean, you can psychoanalyze her all you want. I just personally don't believe it's that complicated. It's pretty easy to eat too much of what tastes good, especially if you're essentially immature and spoiled. I think that happened in her freshman year, and then it was self-perpetuating. To each her own opinion.

Well, she's in love with her father, so there's that! I don't believe there's any deep, dark psychological reason she became obese. It's true that the heavier you are, the hungrier you are, and the harder it is to be active, so it's a vicious cycle that takes some deliberate action to break. She just chose not to do so and is now paying the piper. I firmly believe she's terrified of ending up alone (maybe because she literally can't survive alone without a caregiver or enabler), but is just realizing that she may have missed the boat on that. Virtually everyone on "My 600-Pound Life" has the same story - they sat there doing nothing while 600 pounds piled on - yet the majority of them are married or in stable relationships, so I don't buy that Whitney's weight is about commitment phobia.

It was Zoey begging to be on TV again and being quite sassy and rude with Jenn about it. -

I hope all this nonsense with "Todd keeps disappearing" and "Todd can't be reached" isn't just a manifestation of the contemporary group text, which I consider to be a scourge on society. I was once told I "must not want" friends because I'm not a phone person and seldom even turn mine on. Apparently, that's how friendships are conducted these days. I even got sucked into one on a group tour by the tour director. Weeks after the tour, they were still yammering away on there about everything BUT the tour, and I couldn't get out of it (due to something about the variety of devices being used). If not constantly staring at your phone and typing inane comments 24/7 means one has disappeared, count me gone, too.

Yeah, we've heard that one. Lots of women have PCOS and don't gain 200 pounds. I vote "Freshman Fifteen" combined with infantilism and gluttony, then sheer stubborness, and finally secondary gain from TLC giving her money and fame to remain fat.

I remember Jon coming home from work one day to find Joel lying on the hard, cold floor of the laundry room with just a bucket and a thin blanket under him because he'd thrown up, and Kate wanted easy clean-up if it happened again. He took him to bed (and probably incurred the wrath of Kate in the process).

I thought she gave herself away when she said (I can't remember which episode it was) how sexy she feels Flamenco dancing and that "IF there were a man she were interested in," she'd want him to see her doing it. I thought she was still in love with Le Blur? I noticed that her Flamenco dancing is a lot of posing and facial expressions and throwing her arms around; not moving her feet or covering much ground, as usual. Authentic dancers seem to be engaging in quite an aerobic exercise, of which she doesn't seem capable.

I personally believe Kody never "fell in love" until he met Robyn. Of course you think you're in love until you experience the real thing, which hits you like a ton of bricks. The first words out of Robyn's mouth ever on the show were "he's my soulmate," and I believe he feels the same way. It doesn't mean he set out to become a monogamist; he just did.

That's probably it. I heard they replayed "J&K+8," too (I missed that, unfortunately), and we know there are no plans to bring them back! I'm sure the Arnold-Kleins have no desire to return to TLC, and they certainly don't need the money! They fulfilled the purpose of showing (as LPBW also did) that disabled people can lead happy, satisfying, and even wildly successful lives. -

Bumping up! I watched the reruns last night and was very surprised to see "The Little Couple" pop up again on my screen. Does this mean they're considering another appearance on TLC? At any rate, I agree the kids were much better behaved this last season that in previous ones, but then they're 9 and 8 here and should be calming down by now. Will seems crazy about Zoey, and Zoey is a real comical little character! She should be on TV, as the saying goes. Along with the two dogs, they seem to have a very happy and loving little family and big home. Jen seems to prefer work to motherhood and the domestic life, but that's okay; Bill seems content to be the SAH "Mr. Mom," and - thanks to Jen's job and TLC - they can afford to hire any help they could possibly need. Even Jen's giggling has calmed down in this season! -
Didn't M&T meet while living in Las Vegas? Maybe they enjoyed the casinos together, so it's sentimental to them. Still odd, but then it's M&T. Speaking of Mykelti, she's lost a ship-ton of weight in real time and is now actually skinny, according to SM. They're attributing it to their family MLM scheme, Plexus or the green drink or whatever they shill, but I'm sure it's yet another case of using GLP-1s and not admitting to it, which seems rampant both among celebrities and regular people. (Not that it's anyone's business, but why lie?)

UPDATE: Reruns from the last season playing now on TLC! -
Not just on the show. IMO, it's wrong of her to mislead her "fans."
