I can't even believe all the hullabaloo about this shunt replacement, which is basically expected routine surgery for anyone who has one, including many little people! You'd think he was snatched from the brink of death after a sudden catastrophic cerebral hemorrhage, aneurism, brain tumor or something. It's a plastic tube under the scalp. Pretty routine... Tori seems the type who reads romance novels and envisions herself in them.

I'm finally able to watch old episodes, and they're pretty eye-opening! About her mother, Amy said something offhand like "she did the best she could." About her father, she basically raved that he hung the moon! So clearly Amy is a Daddy's Girl, which is probably why she emulates his snarky, critical persona and also why she visits so much now that her mom is gone. If their relationship was fraught, maybe she was actively avoiding her...which would be sad. The Roloffs, to say nothing of the Knights with their two homes, were wealthy enough, and the kids have been old enough, for many years now for her to make more frequent visits to see her aging parents before they passed. I gathered the mother had been in ill health for a while before her death.

Anyone else think he's taking a poke at Amy's Insta face? Pretty accurate! I hike with people like Amy. Forever taking selfies, which is bad enough, but also sticking their big heads in front of groups of people who don't necessarily wish to be photographed - particularly when sweaty, tired, and breathless from hiking. I call them Phone Snipers. Truly terrorists! It's funny, but I never got the narcissist vibe from Amy when she was younger (I recently found a way to watch past seasons). In the earliest ones, I swear she and Matt even seemed like a great team -- I would go so far as to say a "power couple" when it came to the LPA org. Both ambitious, successful, resourceful, determined, and it appeared at times very much in love. It didn't take long for her to start dissing Matt and his projects, however. Still, I didn't perceive that she was the ego-maniac she is now... Mostly, IMO, it's her way of rubbing her "happiness" in Matt's face.

I remember just a few years ago when Zach was suspected to be having trouble with his shunt (headaches, nausea; all the classic signs). As we learned then, it's made of plastic and yes, it wears out eventually, and yes, it needs to be replaced periodically. This should certainly not have come as a shock to either one of them; in fact, they should already have identified and secured a neurosurgeon in his new location for this very predictable event, but this is Zach and Tori we're talking about, after all! I suppose it was "emergent" since they left it to the last minute, but Tori calling it "brain surgery" is a bit of a dramatic stretch; it's not like his skull was cracked open and his brains were laid bare. It's routine for dwarves. Like leg surgery. Like back surgery (he's been putting that off, as well). If anything, this should make them think twice and three times about bringing more little people into the world, but what do you bet it won't?

Is Amy the ONLY relative who can watch the kids now? What happened to Tori's parents and grandmother; I thought they were (again) moving to be near them, leaving Oregon to return (again) to Washington? Even if not, surely they could travel and at least relieve Amy for a while. Maybe they're just making her look like the Lone Sitter to rub it in Caryn's face! In other news, I don't remember Amy being so into her family of origin when her mother was alive; in fact, she hardly ever visited Michigan then and in fact didn't return when her mother was deathly ill or even when she died (it unfortunately conflicted with my man's make-believe prom). Was there tension there? Methinks Amy is her father's daughter all over!

Murphy and Daisy only? Is poor Lucy "in the doghouse" along with Matt and Caryn? -
Tori didn't just watch while Lilah ran into the tree in her remote-control car; she remote-controlled her into it -- and then laughed and played dumb! Zach usually goes along, but he was mad. He also objected when Tori made her cry by hugging him. I have a theory: Tori was devastated when she learned Lilah was going to be a little person instead of a mini-me; she tried to pass it off as "concern" for her, but we can all see how concerned for her she really is. A far-fetched theory, maybe, but I believe Tori greatly resents Lilah for not being the daughter she was sure she would get (Tori is so dumb, I'm sure she thought "50-50 chance" meant that if the first is a dwarf, the second one won't be) and that anger, disappointment, and resentment is being subconsciously projected onto Lilah. I HOPE I'm wrong about this, because Lilah's going to have a hard road to hoe otherwise. I also believe they'll try again for Tori's clone. They claim they're not trying, but no one mentioned taking permanent measures to prevent it. Also, Amy had four, and Tori's fantasy was always to be Amy 2.0 on the farm with, no doubt, one dwarf son and three average-size kids.
-
I know she can't help it, I suppose, but her voice is like nails on chalkboard. It's very much like Jen Arnold's, whose incessant giggling also drove me crazy, or the primordial dwarves when they had specials. Please get voice coaching! Between that and conversing and behaving like a five-year-old, you're not doing yourself any favors in the adult world.

The rumor that ZiT are voluntarily leaving the show is circulating in the media. When hell freezes over! They're probably trying to save face.

Chris saying the house looks neat and clean and nicely decorated while Amy grumbles that "it doesn't look lived in." 🤣 At least three times now (running into the tree, hugging Zach, and the kayaking incident), Zach -- as useless as he is -- has at least had the wherewithal to point out that Lilah was in danger or being made upset while Tori just merrily carries on tormenting her, in this case, objecting when Zach suggested dropping her off with Mimi. Because Tori "wants to make memories" and bond with her daughter, even if it results in a lifelong fear of the water. I really think there's something wrong with her. That must be one of Chris's favorite costumes! She no doubt knew she'd be having that house tour with C&M when she chose that get-up, too. See what you're missing out on, Matt? And dragging the not-yet-potty-trained dog onto the new rugs. I'm surprised Daisy didn't make a beeline for the pee corner! Amy can't bear to see the bedroom? Way to tell your current husband that you're not over the last husband, you bitter little pill. Yes, Amy's afraid to alienate ZiT, but she's also loving sticking it to C&M. -
I usually end up watching about five minutes of this show after LPBW until I realize I don't want to. It might have been two minutes last night.

What would people have Matt do instead; leave it sitting there all winter empty and languishing when the real estate season's dead until spring? I'm sure if anyone's really interested in buying, they'll find a way to get in touch with him and a deal will be worked out. Putting it into a property manager's hands allows Matt to, you know, semi-retire and attend instead to his bereaved and ailing mother - as well as his partner - in Arizona... As well as make some money toward upkeep or which his spoiled, ungrateful kids can inherit. Even Chris sees the logic in this move and actually dared to say so. -
What has happened to Matt; I thought he was savvier than that? It's so obvious Chris just comes sniffing around to dig up dirt to gossip behind his back with Matt's arch enemies, yet he cheerfully goes along with it... Stop it, Chris; you're creepy! Is Amy the Executive Producer this season? Because she's sure getting the good edit between Granny of the Year and Love Story of the Century.

Late to the party, but... WTH was with Tori questioning Jackson about not carrying his chair in class? She looked absolutely gob-smacked that he required help with that with those poor bent legs he can barely walk on, then accused him of being "lazy." Sometimes I really think she's clinically/pathologically delusional about her children's health. Josiah can't sleep? Could it have anything to do with that ginormous tongue that doesn't even fit in his mouth impeding his breathing when he's lying down? Would that maybe be a question for the pediatrician? And Lilah, continuing speech delay aside, now needs eye surgery, so their home therapy was a fail. Yet she claims, when speaking to the Wituses, to have "three healthy children." Tori truly lives in la-la-land! Finally, could she be any further up Amy's behind and any more transparent about it? The kissing-up is almost comical at this point. Suddenly they're BFFs now that Caryn's been kicked to the curb. Sure, Jan! Even Amy must see she's being used for revenge, to hurt the other couple/grandparent unit, but she's all over that, so plays along. Watching her and Chris tiptoe around the snowflakes' feelings surrounding the farm is painful. And yes, Matt paid the kids to work there (there was an episode on which he reminded Molly to clock in). The constant bleating for "affirmation" from Zach for being a mother. Please... I sense an everyone-gets-a-trophy childhood at work here. I see she's also kissed and made up with Jer and Aud. Nothing unites like a common enemy! Anything to twist another knife in Matt's guts. We saw Christmas pics with Amy and the siblings; was he excluded? I've known people like Tori; they can only be mad at one person at a time and gang up with others against them when they are, and there's always that ONE person who has offended them whom they must punish until the next offender comes along. First it was Amy. Then Audrey. And now M&C. Any guesses who will be next??? Most outgrow this childish, cruel behavior around middle school, but... And finally, making Lilah cry and laughing about it. No words!

Well, Z and T are petty and ungrateful. I agree; Matt should declare that they're a package deal. But then they would just withhold the kids from Matt, too, and it would be his fault (supposedly) for not having a relationship with them. He truly can't win! It's nice Caryn supports his going alone, but that's going to wear thin....
-
I have to admit that I'm worried about Matt and Caryn's relationship. This rift with the family is putting tremendous strain on it, no longer having access to the kids takes a lot of the fun out of it, the farm/house transition isn't going to plan, and now even Ron's death - leaving Hunny a widow - puts a crimp in their Arizona life where the sets of parents were friendly and hanging out, forming a family there. I also don't know how Matt will adjust to retirement or if Caryn will ever move in! Personally, I think it's a shame that after overcoming so much and achieving such great things in spite of severe disabilities, he now has to contend with such crap.
-
Thank goodness Jacob didn't end up in the ER with a head injury again after that tree-raising with ropes and pulley; I was having flashbacks to the farm trebuchet!
-
Wow, Zach sure was nervous about how Jackson was going to treat his little guest. I've noticed him get brattier and brattier with each episode; guess this is what happens when he's away from Matt's and Cha-Cha's influence. Guess they haven't gotten the memo that the "everyone gets a trophy" (wins the race) approach was a failure. As for Tori and the bodysuit, this isn't the first time our eyes have been subjected to this; don't forget the "we're about to pop out this baby" photoshoot! She must think the fact that she has average-length legs make them her best asset.

"Join me for some fun talk!" Translation: Lisa and I will trash-talk Matt.

I agree that Chris has a hard-on for Roloff Farms. I remember his wistfully admiring the view one of the last mornings he and Amy woke up there and her snapping at him to stop it already. I'm sure he realized, both professionally and personally, that her decision to move was a bone-headed one, but wasn't at liberty to say so. It'll be interesting to see where they end up "retiring" in three years. I doubt if either one will fully retire since they have the sort of jobs that allow for part-time work. How could Amy pass up the chance to cook dinner or dress up in costumes for pay since those are activities she'd be doing anyway, judging by Chris's comments??? As for Jackson, I think it's pretty clear he'll need further leg surgery down the line. It's easy to say it's a delayed effect, but it's also a fact that the procedure doesn't always work, and it seems they waited too long for that to be optimally effective. When Tori said the doctor called his condition "severe," that means they messed up. I'm sure she's fine with him doing that LATER, just as she is with Lilah having eye surgery LATER (she's admitted she'll need it; hence, the patch and glasses also failed), and she'll pull those speech therapy tricks out of her back pocket LATER... Tori is the Queen of Denial or at least procrastination, and Zach is too dumb or timid to challenge her on it. Will Josiah also require tongue reduction? LATER... -
I realize it's heresy here to defend Kody or criticize any of the original three wives, but I can't help but notice Christine and Janelle singing "I Am Woman" and declaring their independence while depending on the grown boys and Kody to do all the manual labor they require to move and live in the RV, respectively...

Christmas Cookie Challenge - General Discussion
Dibs replied to Lisin's topic in Christmas Cookie Challenge
I agree about Eddie being nitpicky. Hello, the bluebirds' sky contained beautiful snowflakes! Yes, they were the same color as the sky, but they were there filling the sky. As for the brown dog, I think he was trying to say it just wasn't very well executed. Agree the guy "hugging the earth" was a hot mess from beginning to end. Is it a coincidence that the contestant with the history of anxiety disorder crashed and burned? Seems odd she would mess up royal icing! "Single female" seemed to be auditioning for something, if only a date. I know Ree loves stories behind cookies, but I don't. We don't care about your love life or family history. Just give us Christmas cookies we can ALL relate to! Was Grandma Angel even edible; wasn't that part of the requirement? They usually rail against fondant! But I do love the hosts and show. It's sweet and fun and nice and uncomplicated. -
I can only hope this whole thing with ZiT, Matt, and the farm is producer-driven manufactured drama for ratings. I would hate to think Matt fought his way though disability to success only to have his golden years marred by a "sharper than a serpent's tooth" child. Reminds me of Queen Elizabeth and the Harkles. The fact that ZiT is "so offended" is NOT proof that anything "offensive" was said or done. It's called being a millennial snowflake. Or is it Gen Z; Gen X? All the same... My understanding is that they offered a little more than Matt paid Amy (the actual value at that time being twice the value since he paid her for only half of the jointly owned property), which property has now increased in market value 2-3 times. To make it happen for that number, he reduced the acreage, ZiT didn't like that, things got heated, Caryn stopped it lest things be said that couldn't be taken back, and ZiT stormed off in an entitled huff. Oh, they wanted Matt to maintain the property! If ZiT didn't want Caryn in the meeting, GUESS WHAT? They didn't have to go into a meeting with Caryn there! But they did!!! Since they were all buddy-buddy until that moment, they no doubt thought she would be advocating for their position... "Because we've been in this whole thing together all along" was the reason given. In short (no pun intended), ZiT is absolutely ridiculous!!!

I saw a post on SM that both Matt and Tori posted on Instagram on the same day. Tori was having another over-the-top birthday party for Lilah while Matt and Caryn were heading out early to AZ. I can only assume that either Matt wasn't invited (Amy was front and center helping open the gifts and holding Josiah, of course) OR Caryn wasn't invited and Matt opted not to attend out of respect for his partner. ZiT is really putting Matt in an impossible situation here; he's supposed to "work hard" to be in the kids' lives now, but can't bring Caryn, who basically helped raise them for several years? I'd tell them all to go pound sand and change my will...
