S06.E01: Four Hundred Cartons of Undeclared Cigarettes and a Niblingo
januaryman replied to DanaK's topic in Young Sheldon
I liked the episode but I really didn't need to hear that conversation between Dale and Meemaw. Bring back the guy from the cemetery. The story picked up in the same place but no one notices Sheldon's voice suddenly dropped? I wonder if they'll go with Sheldon where they went with DJ on Roseanne. There was a BBT reference that of course went over my head because I don't watch that show: https://tvline.com/2022/09/29/young-sheldon-recap-season-6-premiere-big-bang-theory-easter-egg-explained/ -
Will they still try to pass the twins off as 12? Iain's latest voice change will be jarring to some viewers, but it was jarring to me to see the young episodes for the first time last year. I'm still looking forward to new episodes.

I've seen many episodes over the last two years. It's a good show with a lot of fine actors and solid production values. The final episodes are awful, of course. Alas, Rusty is a waste of airtime - he has moments, mostly with Sharon, Provenza and Dr. Joe, but he has no chemistry with anyone else (certainly not Gus) and Graham is just not a compelling actor. More than Phillip though. I'd rather have had more scenes with Amy, Chief Taylor, Andrea or Dr. Joe.

The kids were my favorite Big 3 so it was good to see them one last time even if it was shot long ago. I'd have enjoyed a show with that version of the family. The shaving lesson was good but Jack of course had to get in one last boring monologue. I'll miss this show - the characters could be annoying and speechifying and sometimes the writing was cheesy (I couldn't care less about adult Kevin's love life and I still don't know what Kate and Phililp saw in each other) but the actors were great - someone must create a sitcom for Susan Kelechi Watson - and there were standout episodes like Miguel, Don't Let Me Keep You and Our Little Island Girl, among others.

S05.E22: A Clogged Pore, a Little Spanish, and the Future
januaryman replied to Bort's topic in Young Sheldon
This episode was more fun than last week's. Iain was brave! I didn't even catch on until "Georgie" walked in. But then I thought it would be another kind of dream. Never been into Penn & Teller so that was just a time-eater. Sheldon and Dr. Linkletter have funny chemistry. Not crazy about the Meemaw cliffhanger - I hope they end that silly laundromat story and give Annie Potts something else to do. -

S04.E20: A Judge and a Priest Walk Into a Living Room...
januaryman replied to Pallas's topic in The Conners
Episode was less annoying than usual I guess, even if it had one of those cheesy sitcom weddings that happens on the main set because they can't afford to build another set. Mary was released from the vault for a token line, and then became an extra again. And did Darlene even speak to Mark the whole time? I'm happy that those who still enjoy this will get to keep watching but I don't have any need to, except to see if they spring for a new opening sequence. -
S05.E21: White Trash, Holy Rollers and Punching People
januaryman replied to Bort's topic in Young Sheldon
Sheesh. Bring the comedy back, people. One This Is Us a week is enough. If the season ends with another dreary cliffhanger I hope we can at least get some laughs out of The actors are great but I'd rather have them be funny. -
Whew! I was expecting to be disappointed.

Happy for those who enjoy this series.

Definitely one of the best episodes of the series - beautifully done and heartbreaking. I thought I would just run out the clock on this series but this one got me in the gut. I will really miss these tremendous actors.

S04.E18: The Best-Laid Plans, a Contrabassoon, and a Sinking Feeling
januaryman replied to Pallas's topic in The Conners
I guess Mary goes back into hiding now that Mark is back - only one kid allowed on the show a week? Go ahead, Ben and marry bossy, unpleasant and unappealing Darlene. I won't be sticking around to see that after this season wraps, especially if The Wonder Years gets squeezed off the schedule for this tired show. -
According to the stills from the season finale we'll be getting a Sheldon/Missy scene as

I'm already tired of this storyline - every show ends with a cliffhanger now. It's turning into a soap opera. Bring back the laughs.

That was Dulé Hill's wife Jazmyn Simon as the singer. Dean had the terrible eavesdropping and the physical comedy - I love a good bed dive.

The Goldbergs in the Media: That's Incredible!
januaryman replied to Stinger97's topic in The Goldbergs
Sigh. This show (for me) hasn't been good since the 2nd and 3rd seasons. Seeing the last George Segal episodes reminded me why I quit watching years ago. Wendi is comically gifted but she needs a new role.- 171 replies

I thought Dr. Sturgis might be the one to die until I saw the clip of the book club and looked up Asimov. Iain's voice gets lower by the week. Good for him for getting through it without cracking onscreen. "At this rate, you're lucky I remember Pop Pop."

One Day At A Time (1975) - General Discussion
januaryman replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in One Day At A Time (1975)
I notice that Antenna always skips the first Ginny episode. Could that be because Ann and Ginny threaten to holler "rape" at the crooked upholstery guys? https://ne-np.facebook.com/MiningCafe/videos/one-day-at-a-time-s02e08-the-upholstery-ripoff/603799300783246/ They do have the infamous Too Close for Comfort rape episode scheduled for 4/15 though. -
Looks like all-new episodes from April 14 through May 19 - they got in a 23rd episode. Never mind - May 5 is a repeat so we're back to 22.

RIP to Barrie Youngfellow, of It's a Living and one of my favorite TC episodes - Triangle Troubles, in which she tries to hide from Jack that she has two male roommates.
