S06.E12: A Baby Shower and a Testosterone-Rich Banter
januaryman replied to Bort's topic in Young Sheldon
Sheldon stated he was 12 in A Lot of Band-Aids and the Cooper Surrender. The Cowboys game they were watching aired on Jan. 17, 1993, and the twins' birthday is on Feb. 26, so hopefully they'll give us that episode this season. I wish they had paid off the Bingo gag they set up - that had no point to it. Connor the social misfit is someone Sheldon could actually get along with - if he wasn't 22. Sorry, I hate Audrey - she and Mandy are dragging down the show. Well-played, though. -
Minimal use of Gemma and Grover is always a good thing. I just saw 'Derek' on Night Court 2 weeks ago, but with no lines:

S06.E11: Ruthless, Toothless, and a Week of Bed Rest

I'm glad someone remembers Billy Sparks still exists - halfway through the season and he's only made one appearance. Meemaw's story went nowhere - just an excuse to get Mary into the house. I like all those actors but the database plot is so blah - there are more amusing adolescent stories they could do with Sheldon. Now I know why I don't see the show promoted anymore - there are no big gags or jokes to promote. I wish they'd go back to writing some. -

I was never invested in Troy but I didn't hate him and I hope nothing happens to him before the ToC. I think Jake is awesome but I liked Sarah too - another cute girl like Dee at the 3rd podium who was out of the running. Sam looked unhappy at the end.

The show needs work but I like it and the cast. The defendant looked like he would be funny but he didn't have any lines. The old show had all those old-fashioned (now-deceased) character actors playing the defendants, a lot of whom were carried over from Barney Miller. They could use some of those types.

I thought it was average and watchable. The cast is decent, though the baliff is trying too hard. But Larroquette is the standout of course.

S06.E10: Pancake Sunday and Textbook Flirting
januaryman replied to paulvdb's topic in Young Sheldon
The premiere of Deep Space 9 makes it January of 1993, so we should finally get that 13th birthday episode soon. They've run Sheldon's Star Trek obsession into the ground, and the database thing isn't much better. I wish he'd take up a new activity... -
Cast in Other Roles: Who were you in a past life?

Too bad they never brought back Henry Messner to finish off that dangling plot thread from two seasons ago. Unless MH wants him for herself. There's no creative reason for this show to continue any more, but it will as long as someone keeps watching.

S05.E08: Welcome to What Used to be the Neighborhood
januaryman replied to jewel21's topic in The Neighborhood
I've never heard of nutmeg in lasagna - apparently it's to enhance the ricotta cheese. I actually thought Tina was trying to sabotage the dinner like Marie Barone and the meatballs. -
I'm not impressed with Mandy's parents any more than I am with Mandy, acting abilities notwithstanding. Sheldon and Pres. H. have a funny dynamic though she seems to hate him but panders to him for some contrived sitcom reason I forget. Wendie makes it fun though. Two 12-year olds alone in a store at night with creepy Nathan? At least their parents don't seem to care where they are anyway.
-
I'm rooting for Zach but I have no problem with Jessica and I didn't watch the professor tournament but I'm sure Sam isn't annoying.
-
I barely care about Mandy - though Emily Osment could carry a show of her own - and now her parents are going to tie up screen time from the regulars? I guess some would be happy with less Sheldon.
-
I'm glad Andrew pulled it off but I felt bad for Christine. I can't wait for tomorrow - I'm Team Tyler but I will be happy to see any of the three advance.

S06.E05: A Resident Advisor and the Word 'Sketchy'
januaryman replied to Bort's topic in Young Sheldon
I just took it as a slapstick sight gag. It might have seemed worse if it had been 2 years ago when Iain was actually 12. Funnier than being stuffed in the locker. But everyone to their own views. -
Matt, Andrew and Ryan are my top 3. I also really liked Tyler, Zach, Eric, Brian and Margaret. Christine and Jessica are pleasant enough. I never saw Jaskaran, Sam, John or Courtney, but I'm rooting hard for John and Courtney now!

That last gag of Sheldon being muted was 5 years overdue. Why are they turning Meemaw into a near-criminal? -

The show is funnier this season - I wonder if they got the live audience back? -
S06.E02: Future Worf and the Margarita of the South Pacific

Missy asks "Don't I look 14?" - I guess the twins are still "12". If they wait until February to have them turn 13 Iain may be 5 inches taller! Mary made Hamburger Helper once before with the old packaging - I couldn't tell you which episode. I thought Georgie was paying for the cable TV? With respect to Emily Osment, I didn't miss Mandy or that baby plot bogging down the show. I'm not much more excited about Pastor Rob either. -
Grover rarely makes me laugh but he had some funny lines this time, even with his terrible line readings. I still think he should be recast though. The Star Wars viewing was the highlight of the show - Marty almost always makes me laugh.

S06.E01: Four Hundred Cartons of Undeclared Cigarettes and a Niblingo
januaryman replied to DanaK's topic in Young Sheldon
I liked the episode but I really didn't need to hear that conversation between Dale and Meemaw. Bring back the guy from the cemetery. The story picked up in the same place but no one notices Sheldon's voice suddenly dropped? I wonder if they'll go with Sheldon where they went with DJ on Roseanne. There was a BBT reference that of course went over my head because I don't watch that show: https://tvline.com/2022/09/29/young-sheldon-recap-season-6-premiere-big-bang-theory-easter-egg-explained/
