And just like that, it’s back in me head, again!
-
I’ve noticed that whenever there is a talking-head segment with Gabri and another chef, together, they both seem to be enjoying themselves, ebullient, even. He seems to be the common element in these joyful pairings.

I reckon I used to be way more easy going than I am now. I’ve kept multiple pets for friends who were on months-long trips or during difficult international moves. Parents of a mere acquaintance, along with their two Westies, stayed with me once for 8 days when their trip was derailed by a blizzard. I had never met them before. I’ve had 40 or so boxes of belongings in my garage or basement several times for friends who were between residences. All was fine. Now, years later, I have trouble reconciling that that person was actually me.

I wasn’t watching, only listening as I puttered, so I didn’t see him. I didn’t pick up on slurring, but I did notice a mispronounced word. It wasn’t a typical difference in pronunciation to which we’re accustomed from our friends across the pond. I wonder what the actual lapse of time has been since his most recent prior appearance, because all seemed well, at that point, IIRC.

Annnnd, so many of the house hunters are employed as llama grooming consultants or as “person with nose.”

They absolutely can and DO climb fences. You are so right! I f a gator can get a toe-hold, she can climb it. When I want to take a swim in the pool after dark, I turn on the flood light first, and check the entire yard before turning it off and hopping in. Same goes for taking garbage out after dark. The yard looks as if a prison-break is in progress. Partner South goes out willy-nilly, in the dark, no lights at all. Y’all will know if he gets gobbled up when I start speaking of him in past tense.

Oh Lordy! There are endless storylines that would make the show a blast to watch.
-
I expected Todd would blow through the front door as soon as he caught wind of the goings-on. Never mind that he had been on a cruise. I figured he’d hire a helicopter to fetch and deliver him to the inn, and maybe pay for it by stealing his mother’s winnings from the onboard roulette table.

Thanks, Bastet. I was trying to concoct a polite way of saying what I had been thinking.

I also aced the ungulates! Ain’t we something?! If I had been asked prior to the episode, to name all of the ungulates that I knew, I’d have answered “uhhh cow??”

That’s one of the many tid-bits my dad made sure that I knew before the age of 7 or 8, or so. Others among them included being able to say “I am an American” in 6 languages, being able to identify all parts of a two-cycle engine and how to very accurately choose the thoroughbred that would win the next race. I’ve visited all but one of the 6 countries, a few, several times, and never needed to utter “I am an American”. The others have been used manny times. Dads can be funny.

For the record, Sylwia, Gabri, Victoire and Begona are abundantly invited to move to my neighborhood. The closer and sooner the better.

I remember Eric Ripert and Tom talking at Jtable, last year, about how his plating is lovely, but so outdated. I sometimes expected him to carve a whale from a crook-neck squash. My mom learned to do that at a Tupperware party during the 70s. It made repeated appearances at the dinner table, complete with a spray of feathered celery spewing from the blowhole.

I was pleased that Dale spoke up about there not having been any talk of deconstruction. And the egg…the color, or lack thereof. Partner South was watching with earbuds in while listening to music. He asked me (too loudly), “did they pack a fucking rice crispy treat around an egg!?” Sylvia and Victoria were fun to watch. In what other world would they find themselves together making Toad in the Hole? So true about the many options for dining in London, and it has been true for decades. I took what Luciana said to mean specifically pub food. Additionally i figured she was referring to there being a wider range of options available at the pubs, not so much that those traditional dishes have actually improved.

I also like May. Her stories won me over last week, but as worried as I was about possibly losing her, I was a bit more okay after she, unprompted, threw Dale under the double-decker bus. He was still an unknown chef to me, so I won’t miss him, but it left a bad taste in my mouth. Actually, I can make malt salt for you, but you can make it for yourself, as well. The recipe/method is on the net. More easily, you can order it on Amazon with or without salt.I’m liking Sylvia, so I was pleased about the fake-out. Funny, but I’ve been thinking about the Scotch egg as well. I like your idea, and I’ll take a plate-full.

I agree about Dawn and her tendency to take an ingredient to the mat in an attempt to control what is only inherent. I disagree about Buddha. I think that his manner of speech sits quite formally in the ear. Which may lead to him seeming smug. But if I consider his exact words and inflection coming from, oh, I don’t know…Miley Cyrus (love her!), I don’t find anything snobby being thrown about.

I like Gabri, but he is indeed, a lot. It’s like having a genial, excitable squirrel in the kitchen. A lot.

Count me in! There were so many familiar faces. It reminds me of about 6 other shows, but not in an off-putting manner. Thus far, the character of Lily is the best developed/nuanced.

I hadn’t noticed any scraggly-assedness about his beard, but as someone with a truckload of both Scottish and Irish cousins, their beards come in with many mixed shades. They also can grow with random patches of interspersed patches of these shades (not an even distribution)giving them an Australian cattle dog appearance. Throw it on top of fair skin, and a not-too-close look could appear scraggly assed while actually being quite nice. My family has decided to find it fantastic. I thought Elizabeth Banks and Cybill Shepard had a baby

Yes! I’ve noticed it a small handful of times over the past month or two. Previously, key words in the clue wouldn’t be used in the correct reply. Today, I was talking to the tv with a mouth full of cauliflower, “golde… no, gol, fuck, whaaat?”. Ahhh, thanks Bastet, the acupressure/pressure one as well.

It was Munch for me, as well. Ditto on the Queen W bit too. If I had known the correct country, I like to think that I’d have said Rembrandt, but he was in pretty good company. I might have thought that clue writers were being crafty, and chosen the very slightly less lauded Vermeer

I was similarly overjoyed to hear one of the writer/directors of Everything Everywhere All at Once, give an enthusiastic “THANK YOU!!” to his many public school teachers at The Academy Awards.

I like the champ just fine, and I know exactly who he reminds me of. It’s someone that I love a whole bunch, so I’m always happy to see his face. In regards to the contestant himself, I don’t find him to be smug, just business-like…and he IS taking care of business. My heart broke a little for Long on the DD. He was cruising along on that category, so I told him to bet it all. Dang! I thought he’d get it.

Snap! You’re right.

Count me in on that, though I get the consternation
