  1. First of all, Yes, Christian, Mark, Josh, Connie, and Simon were absolutely invited just to be sacrificed. They were dead the moment they set foot onto the commune grounds. That's why the elders let them have so much access. They were going to kill them anyway so it didn't matter what they heard or saw. Regarding Dani, the way I see it, she was just a target of opportunity. While talking to one of the Elders, they mention how incest is an issue. Getting Dani to come along would be a way to introduce fresh blood into the community. There is a time skip in between the death of Dani's family and the party. Pelle could have spent that time manipulating Christian into inviting her to come along. I often wonder "How in the hell are they going to explain any of this?" after watching a lot of movies.
  2. I certainly think Mark and Chidi (Josh) made some missteps when it came to respecting someone else’s culture, but they deserved to die? The thing is though nothing they did mattered. Even if Mark hadn't peed on the sacred tree and Chidi hadn't sneaked into the temple and photographed the sacred text, they still would have been killed. Everyone could have been on their best behavior the whole time and nothing would have changed. I really wanted to like this movie. It just didn't work for me. There was no tension. It was obvious from the moment the group entered the commune that they all going to die. The cinematography and Florence Pugh were great though.
  3. I always hoped they would bring Cassie back. Hope they answer some of the questions from her first appearance.
  4. There always had to be more too it. If it was just to open the door, why even bother with a key when they could do exactly what Levi did? I'll answer that with a yes or no. Read if you wish:
  5. It hasn't been revealed yet, but yes Eren's Titan has a name.
  6. I think Nate would be okay in a more normal relationship. A lot of his crazy is having to deal with Robin's skeletons. Delilah is only 16. So, once again Robin hides something from her past and it comes back to bite them. Saw the switch coming as soon as Blue Jay was introduced. The twin switcharoo is such an over used trope. Also, I'm assuming Robin's Mother is Delilah's unseen benefactor from the last week. And, while I've never been there, isn't Ithaca less rednecky and more college towny? Granted I don't watch this show for accuracy.
  7. So most of the kids escaped. I understand the pragmatism of it, but it does really suck for the kids who got left behind. They will be watched so closely now that there is no way they will be able to plan their own escape. I know Emma said she will come back, but who knows if she ever be able to. Also, Ray is Isabella's son. I'm assuming that is going to come into play later in the series. This was a fun series. Even though it won't be for a while, I'll be back for season 2. So This show and Hunter Hunter are now over. Gundam: The Origin is taking one spot. Does anyone know what is taking the other?
  8. And that's a wrap. It was a nice ending. I could have done without the scene of Gon, Killua, and Alluka. It kind of took away from the big goodbye last week. Nice to see Gon and Ging finally catch up and the whole "It's not about the destination, but the journey." message. And also nice to see a final where are they now with some of the other characters. Kurapika seems to have been busy since Yorknew City. It's been great talking about this show with everyone! Looks like another Gundam series "The Origin" will be taking this show's spot. Edit: Just remembered something. I didn't really understand the point of using one of those Navigators from episode 2 to pretend to be the dead butler. It seems unlikely that he won't be discovered quickly.
  9. I'm guessing it's taking Hunter x Hunter's spot. Does anyone know if it is more like Iron Blooded Orphans or Unicorn? I really enjoyed IBO, not so much Unicorn.
  10. Yeah, the walls are massive. I figured it out once: Wall Maria is Texas, The area between Maria and Rose is Colorado, Wall Rose is California, Between Rose and Sina is Oregon, and Sina is South Dakota. Regarding the food shortages, while there is seemingly more than enough land, given their technological level they may simply lack the means to grow and harvest enough food for everyone. Also, the inner walls are where all the wealthiest live so it was probably more to do with them losing their status and luxury than the lack of the ability to support more people. That being said, losing Wall Maria represented about a 37% loss of land and losing Wall Rose would have been a 56% loss. That would have been huge resource hits for any country to absorb.
  11. Not that they would be playing a lot of baseball, but Wall Maria is approximately the size of Texas and Wall Rose is the approximately the size of California. I don't remember if this made into the show, but in the manga they say training Survey Corps horses costs more than most people make in their lives. Finally caught up with this season. Surprisingly, I actually kind of like the intro music. I've really enjoyed this arc. That scene last week showing poor Marco's death was pretty brutal. Gee Marlo, I really wonder why your final thoughts are of a girl. It's quite the mystery. Really loved seeing Levi completely wreck the Beast Titan. Also, I just noticed that, for some reason, I'm credited as creating this thread. I guess that happened during the forum consolidation.
  12. As were are reaching the end tonight, I've been reading the past 8 pages/3 years worth posts. It's interesting to reading everyone's thoughts over the years. I forgot how unsure I was about committing to the show at the start and here I am. Well, the show hasn't been perfect, but I've enjoyed it. Anyone know what's coming next?
  13. It's kind of her fault for talking to her doll about her plan really loudly. I thought so too. I was surprised it was a different VA. She wouldn't be the first person to freeze in battle despite having high level combat training. I've been marathoning this show the past week. It's pretty good. Sucks that it is only going to be 12 episodes, at least for now. I hope it doesn't end on too big of a cliffhanger.
  14. The Penultimate episode. I'd totally forgotten about Kite's team. I'm genuinely surprised they all survived the Chimera Ants. And the Koala guy, I'd forgotten about him too. Finally, Gon and Killua go their separate ways. I guess the final episode will be Gon climbing the tree and talking to Ging. Seems fitting.
  15. I remember one time Geoffrey ripping into someone for calling the show "fun" and treating it as "serious cooking competition". I've heard from competitors that the sob story angles are sometimes played up by the producers, so they may not be in as dire financial straits as it seems. I've looked into it a little, and while I'm not a tax professional, it seems like Federal withholding are 25%. Plus New York State and their home state get cuts. So, $2500 Federal and $1500 for State withholding and $1000 travel would still end up making $5000. Note with the withholding, they might end up getting some of that back. Not great, but I can see why they would do it. Way better odds than the lottery. Also, I've gone to restaurants simply because I've seen them on the show.
  16. Yeah I agree about this. Terry says that it happened weeks ago. How did Holt not know that he was promoted? There's no paperwork or ceremony? I can buy that nobody knew the date of the exam, although thinking about I would assume the exams are held around the same date every year. I just didn't make sense. It would have been better if instead he took the exam over the weekend and just got the results.
  17. Leorio! And Kurapika too! Good to see both of you. I wish the scenes in the auditorium and hospital had been flipped so that Leorio's return was revealed when he punched Ging rather than him screaming into the phone at the hospital.
  18. He was there. He's with the Ravagers. He can be seen when Wasp shows up. https://knowyourmeme.com/photos/1486749-avengers-endgame
  19. This was a great movie. It had it's issues which I will get too later, but it was great. I didn't expect that they would split everyone up again, but with one exception I thought it worked well. I was surprised to see how many people they got to come back for this. I went in expecting either Stark or Capt to die, but I didn't think this would be the last movie for both of them. The final battle, Hollywood tactics aside, was fantastic. I'm pretty sure I'm going to see this again, just to see try and catch all the little things I missed the first time. Like many of you, I had issues with the time travel, but I'm just going to take Basil Exposition's advice: "I suggest you don't worry about those things and just enjoy yourself." Things I didn't like: 1. They just couldn't help themselves with Loki could they? They just had to have a way for him to come back with the added bonus of erasing all of his development 2. The state of Earth. Current world population is around 7.7 billion, so after the snap there would still be, give or take, 3.85 billion people left. That's the approximate population of 1970. No more Mets? 5 years later and there are still trash bags piling up on the sidewalks in San Francisco? What admittedly little we saw and heard about the world didn't seem to be consistent. 3. Some of the groupings didn't make sense. You have 3 people with extraterrestrial experience, but instead of sending one to each of the other planets, they send two people with the least space experience on a mission together. I understand they did it so that Natasha would sacrifice herself, but I don't understand why the team would even plan it that way. Just felt like bit of lazy writing. 4. I thought Stark and Nebula's rescue was a little too easy. 5. I understand why the did it, but I didn't think the girl power scene was necessary. Other stuff: 1. Sucks to be Jamie Alexander and Stellan Skarsgård. I think they are the only two people who didn't appear in this. Oh also Martin Freeman, although I like to think he was flying one of the Wakandan fighters. 2. I realize that there are issues between the movies and the tv shows, but it would have been nice to have had The Defenders appear during the final battle. 3. Add Ken Jeong and Yvette Nicole Brown to the list of "Community" cast members to appear in an MCU film. Only Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, and Alison Brie to go. And Chevy I suppose, but I doubt that will happen.
