  1. The show is still weird but continues to grow on me. Martin's thoughts and Nan's actions seemed to be better aligned this episode instead of the two of them co-existing in separate stories. I agree everything is much better away from the office, which is too bad because I like Nan's co-workers. Her boss is the worst, though, and not even as a character but as an entire plot. Or maybe it's the actor who bugs? Something's not working for me there. Martin's mouth moving doesn't bother me, but I really hope they dial down the number of "likes" as we go along. I guess the conceit is to deliberately mimic millennial mannerisms, but ugh. I also wonder if having Martin's ears flat during his camera interviews is an "acting" choice, because his reflections are often downbeat or sarcastic, but it kind of makes me think Ned the (actual) dog isn't enjoying this. Perk up your ears, dude!
  2. Loved the puppies and collar of shame. The panelists were given some good jokes but again Hardwick can't help making it about himself. Crawl around on the floor and take selfies on your own time, ya freak.
  3. Not that he was ever peak grooming, but Peck's gnarly mustache is grossing me out. Interesting that married couples won both flash challenges*. That may speak to their ability to work smoothly together, but we'll see. The woman from the African American team -- Bang? -- who complained about it being UNFAIR for them to lose is going to grind my last nerve if she keeps up her whining. That was also the team who were surprised to learn they were one. * Which I guess it's time for me to quit bitching about, because it looks like the show is leaning even harder into non-ink materials.
  4. The intro team videos were interesting. Seems like a lot of the contestants this season haven't been tattooing very long, as careers go. Nobody got on my nerves in the short intros. I liked the two women from Pinz and Needlez and the couple from Indianapolis, but the shots of their previous work didn't fill me with confidence. It was predictable but sad that the two women said they were unable to even get apprenticeships because of their sex. Still pulling that shit, guys? Come on.
  5. I used to watch QVC in the pre-Internet days but don't think I've ever popped into the shopping forum (and now I'm afraid to!) but I have wondered why there aren't separate threads for each network. Doesn't it get confusing? As far as negativity goes, I stopped reading the Kelly and X show thread a long time ago because it was post after post about how thin she is and how horrible as a host and person. Which is fine, but it was the same thing every day for years. Maybe it's better now. I wasn't a fan of Strahan but might start watching again now that Ryan's there.
  6. I frequently eat bagged salad kits from the supermarket and deliberately have never looked at the calorie counts. Those danged cream dressings! I also add grilled shrimp or chicken, plus shredded cheese and extra croutons if I have any. Sigh. A friend treated me to Olive Garden last week because she had a gift card and I was shocked at the prices. $14.95 for a dish of pasta! We had an appetizer and it was $53 for the two of us. I always thought of them as a mid-priced chain but maybe I'm out of the loop for what passes as mid-priced these days. Same with Red Lobster, but at least their cheddar bay biscuits somewhat make up for it.
  7. At least the show they gave Tabatha allowed her natural scold to come out! She was simply not having it with any of those crappy salons. I'd watch another hairstyling show for sure; it was a lot of fun seeing how thoroughly someone could jack up a 'do. There was another one called something like Hair Battle, if I'm remembering correctly? But then, I'm a fool for artistic competitive reality shows like Skin Wars, Face Off, graffiti painting, tattoos, etc. I tried with that manicure/fancy nails show but it was too much even for me.
  8. It's an interesting story (and once again Scientology comes off as tone-deaf bullies with their aggressive tactics), but I'm a little skeptical of Donna the stepmom, to be honest. We know from Leah's book that she didn't have much contact with her dad after Vikki moved them to Clearwater, then L.A. I don't doubt that Donna is fond of Leah but think she might be exaggerating the extent their connection to puff herself up a bit. I was also put off by Donna's name-calling and references to the age difference between her ex husband and his third wife. It's gross when Scientology does it in their videos and I'm not going to applaud that same behavior from the other side.
  9. That's exciting news about Angels! Crossing my fingers that the traveling format means new competitors in each city and no more season-long grudges and animosity from other artists. The women themselves already get along very well. Sourpusses Gia and Nikki weren't favorites of mine, but it was mostly the biased judging that set them off so hopefully they'll be in better spirits this time. That is, if I'm even able to access whatever damned new channel Paramount is.
  10. Ever since the casting special when she first brought it up, I've wondered if Sheila realizes that people can hear this.
  11. As Joy Behar used to say, "I like a man in my life but not in my house."
  12. Let's not forget he also freaking lives with his parents! Where are these daily sex fests taking place? Maybe he's got a semen-soaked mattress set up in the janitor's closet at his gym where women line up to do him -- he's just that magnetic.
  13. Whenever anyone asks if I live alone, I always say, "Yes, thank goodness."
  14. My Internet went out this week, which in Maslow's hierarchy of electronic needs is, like, #3 after the A/C in summer and the garage door opener the rest of the time. Well, the ice cube maker is up there, too. Aaaanyway. I called my ISP and after the obligatory phone menu nonsense and wait time, they said I needed a new modem. I didn't think that was right and protested a bit, but they insisted and said they'd send a new one overnight at no charge. When it arrived, I set it up and still naw. Called them back and they threw in the towel and scheduled a repair for the next day. I was kinda getting the DTs at that point because it was going on 48 hours without Internet. The service tech showed up and walked directly to the back of the house where the [whatever] box is. I went out the back door (hair combed, housecoat and bra on!) to say hi and introduce myself. He said he wanted to check something else and walked around the side out of my view. I went back inside and heard his truck drive away. Huh. That's different. He called me about 10 minutes later and said his wife had texted to remind him that he had a doctor's appointment. Okay, dude, but at least holler at me that you need to go. Yeesh. He came back later that afternoon and got everything sorted out. And no, it hadn't been the modem. I then had to reset my laptop, tablet and TV receiver with the new modem info/password, but now I can't freaking get the printer to connect. I have the voice of Stefania from Everybody Loves Raymond in my head: "It's annoy-ING."
  15. Right? The ocean views were lovely, but it struck me as desolate in some ways. Certainly un-leafy. It reminded me of a friend from the wide open plains of North Dakota. She and I took a trip to Cape Cod and she wasn't a fan -- said she felt hemmed in and a bit claustrophobic with all the foliage, trees and small winding lanes. That's what I liked! Rhoda had the idiosyncratic attic, scarves, bohemian ways, and cutsie boyfriend.
  16. Seems pretty mild so far, but the actor who plays Kevin James' wife on his sitcom has been let go for season 2 at the same time as Leah Remini was added as a cast regular (playing his former cop partner). Producers say they're going a different direction with the show, but it was doing all right in the ratings as is. Maybe a bit of retooling, maybe getting rid of dead wood? I may actually watch next season to see what's up.
  17. Ashley needs to stop saying she's so independent and in control. She relies on her family for a job, lets her sister run roughshod over her and can't even cool herself off when the A/C goes out. That's some seriously jacked self awareness.
  18. If Cody's defensive remarks that he was having sex every day before he was cast for the show are true, to me that indicates he was in a relationship with someone, even if it was only as friends with benefits. I refuse to believe such an inarticulate bumbler was able to pick up a different woman, or even rotate sex among a group of women, every damned day. Not to mention that he lives in a rural area. It's also possible he considers masturbation to be sex.
  19. If Leah were to devote more time to her acting career, I'd die for another season of her reality show!! Can you imagine cameras following her around now? For those who didn't watch, it featured "talking to the audience/Modern Family" type couch interviews wherein Leah and her family members would make sarcastic and mocking comments about the show, their lives, and each other. Leah was always styled and made up to the max, which she joked about but still did.
  20. Looking at Leah's IMDB page, her career has done nothing but benefit from her exposure on Aftermath -- 6 credits so far this year. For 2017: Kirstie Alley: 0 Juliette Lewis: 0 Jenna Elfman: 1 Nancy Cartwright: 1 Kelly Preston: 1 Laura Prepon: 2 Erika Christensen: 2 Catherine Bell: 4 Elisabeth Moss: 6
  21. Being Mary Richards seemed like a lot of work to me, but I definitely would have changed places with Rhoda.
  22. On the non-hate side, I'd love to see short, one time continuation seasons for Everwood and Joan of Arcadia. Let's see what's up with all those peeps.
  23. I'm living a few miles from a Chick-fil-A for the first time in my life. I've heard people rave about them so much over the years, but what should I order if I go? Is there any consensus, or is it kinda up to individual taste? Fast food Yelp-ish review, in passing: McDonald's has a new line of Signature sandwiches. I've had the beef versions and didn't much like them. It was the toppings/sauce that put me off, so I doubt I'd like chicken any better. Has anyone else tried them? Topic swerve to toxic family -- my bossy and controlling sister continues to stress me out. I would never be friends with her if she was just someone I came across in life, and there were decades here and there in the past when we rarely spoke. But she and I are the only ones left in our immediate family and a few years ago I moved to be closer to her. I have mobility/neurological issues and she does drive me around and help with doctor appointments and whatnot, but I'm wondering if the mental toll is worth it. She's just so godamned mean to people and needs serious help with anger management. Gah.
  24. I agree about Reitman's expressions. After the show, she apparently tweeted a few questions about whether or not fair game still exists or if the practice was being exaggerated She later deleted them, I assume after getting a lot of blow back. I can kind of understand her point (if that's what she even meant) because these days Scientology just can't act against the thousands of critical articles and people and Internet attacks the way they used to. DM hasn't abandoned the practice, but he's fighting the rising tide with a teaspoon.
  25. @SentimentalLady, you might wanna browse Amazon, too. I get mine there because of the free shipping. Speaking of shopping, it might be time to look over some rings at QVC. I usually buy myself something pretty with a colored stone every year or two.
