  1. No matter what they do from now on, I'll never forgive them for misspelling the name of their own shop.
  2. I just noticed we're back to the default generic silhouette icons instead of initials. Maybe it's temporary because of the UI upgrade, but I went to the damned trouble of modifying my username so I'd have two initials and a different background color. Take that, you who dare to job the system!
  3. Ditto on the self-driving cars. Along those same lines, Elon Musk wants to build tunnels under L.A. so cars/buses can be put on sleds that yank them around at up to 125mph. No thank you!
  4. So many bad tattoos are because of janky sketches. I've never understood how artists can look at a stencil of something like the broken tiger from this episode and not see that it's bad. You're never going to be able to fix poor design/composition with nicely applied ink. I wasn't sure why a tattoo of a heart and tree was so fearsome; they're two straightforward objects. It wasn't aesthetically easy to marry them (and the final tattoo did not succeed), but the request shouldn't have been so terrifying. The winner was the rib piece, too. Stop whining and do better! The Post-It paintings were fun. A couple were childlike but well enough done, and that wasn't part of the criteria. The winning tiger was kind of awesome. I would have preferred that Tri-Cities leave because they're (1) out of their depth and (2) the squabbling is tiresome, but there's a lot of fodder this season.
  5. Were the teams required to stick to the one color of their chosen wolf? No one seemed to tried to change up the palette even a little among the three makeups. The white wolf team's flat, untextured, unshaded paint jobs were pitiful. The only thing kindly Ve found to praise was that simple mottling effect on one wolf on the gray team. I would have questioned why he was wearing a Hawaiian shirt the size of a tent.
  6. I think Nan and Martin should stay in bed all day. With a live cam so I could watch the snuggles.
  7. Come on. It's Bachelor in shitting Paradise. Are we seriously supposed to believe production was suspended because two contestants had sex, oral or otherwise, in the pool? If that's "misconduct," my trust in Fleiss has been shattered. ;-)
  8. l'm so sorry, @Bronx Babe. I hope you're able to draw a bit of comfort from your friends here who care about you.
  9. Seems like a lot of the artists expect to just show up and tattoo their favored subjects in their own style on easy body parts every week. I don't give their complaints a lot of sympathy. Dance for me, puppets, dance!
  10. Yikes! Imminent peril! I coulda been killed! Not really, but I was in this very drive through lane at Checkers a couple of weeks ago. The paper said the "elderly" occupants (it is Florida) were able to get out of the car before the ground fully opened, so that's good.
  11. My bald spots ain't getting any thicker and I've been on a wig-buying kick. I ordered this one mostly because it was on sale and I figured I could cut and style it better: And this is what it looked like when I got it:
  12. I appreciate all the kind thoughts for my dad, truly. I'm not able to do plane travel because of physical limitations, so it's a matter of waiting for the call to come. He had open heart surgery for a valve replacement when he was 80, so he's pretty tough. I'm very close to my stepmother and worry about her state of mind as well. She's the younger trophy wife at 91. ;-)
  13. I really enjoyed this and hope the quality keeps up. Oy, sorry to go against the grain, but Roller -- or Cooter as I kept calling him in my head -- was disgusting and I was happy to see what I thought was the end of him. I think the actor is unattractive as well. It was seriously one of those visceral "I hate you on sight" rear-backs; it remains to be seen how big a role he'll have and if I can stomach him. Uncle Daddy is also a creep but he didn't bother me as a character. I gather Polly has come down in life but I wasn't feeling her sadness in the motel room. It's gotta be better than prison even if the TV only gets the wrestling channel. And her anklet seems to have a pretty forgiving range, from work to the motel to the strip club. Versace or not, isn't it weird to give someone a single towel as a gift? Quiet Ann looked familiar but her IMDB photos look NOTHING like her character on this show and I don't recognize any of her other roles, so I guess I'm tripping.
  14. @Bronx Babe, thanks for keeping us updated on your mom's condition. I'm relieved to hear she was moved to a hospice facility -- every place I've had contact with over the years has been absolutely wonderful. It's so nice to be able to spend unlimited time there, with visitors welcomed and made comfortable. Peaceful wishes to you in this most stressful of times. As for informing your brother, knowing the little I do about you, I think you'd feel bad if you didn't. Best to email or leave him a voicemail and pass the responsibility onto him. It doesn't sound like he's apt to respond but this way you don't leave yourself open to him possibly accusing you of deception at a later date. My own dad is back in the hospital again after losing consciousness. His blood pressure continues to drop despite a series of different medications. I'm hoping he doesn't have another stroke, but being so far away makes the anxiety even worse.
  15. I really do like the show, but a couple of nit-picky things took me out of it. Even though Three had been thoroughly beat up and then dragged across rocky terrain, there wasn't a bit of blood on his shirt and his suit jacket still looked pristine from the back. Come on. Those wardrobe lapses should have been very easy to address. Maybe we're to assume that "space age materials" are impervious to dirt and destruction, but that hasn't been the case before. The simple metal handcuffs of today still being in use 200+ years from now. They were also pretty easy to break apart with a crowbar without breaking Three's wrist. The Raza never seems to get damaged despite numerous explosions and shootouts with huge blaster guns. At least recoil has been solved in the future, because no one suffers from it. I hope someone spaced the bodies the 5-6 Ferrous soldiers who were killed after boarding the Raza. Housekeeping, please. Is Kierken dead?
  16. Hosted by Zoe. There are mild spoilers about what's generally in store for season 3. I'm not one who normally watches online content but sat through the first two episodes of this. They're short, at least. Seeing the cast out of wardrobe discussing their characters kind of ... makes me believe them less in the show? It's dumb of me. Speaking of Ryo, Mallozzi mentioned that there was no "big bad" in seasons one and two, which okay, he's the creator of the show and all, but I'd say the GA was and is a looming, ever-present enemy.
  17. The crew of the Raza target an Ishida research station in an attempt to take back the Blink Drive.
  18. The convo with the cashier was a little sketchy but there was an entire camera crew there so it's not like it was ever going to be a normal transaction. I'd have more hope for A & A if she was wasn't so terribly insecure. She took one comment by Rachel (which was simple advice based on Ashley's own admissions) and blew it up volcano style. Stop fixating, Ashley! On the positive side, Anthony has his "Yes, dear" script down pat so maybe there is hope for them, as long as he doesn't mind walking on freaking eggshells every day for the rest of his married life.
  19. Mr. Peanut-Mole! I enjoyed the panel of actors from The Magicians. Hale Appleman is so darned charming.
  20. @seahag, your mom certainly sounds like she knows her own mind! She must be a marvel. I've prepaid my funeral expenses (cremation, no urn), but that's as far as it goes. What to do with my two gold crowns didn't even occur to me! The Internet tells me that scrap metal price for crowns is around $50. I guess it's fine with me if the cremation society takes that as a tip. I was in the hospital last year (cardiac ward, which I highly recommend as a woman since most patients are male and you'll probably get your own room) and a nurse came in to discuss DNR. I already had my orders on file and reiterated to her that there was to be no resuscitation. She was all, "This is a cardiac ward! Do you really not want your heart restarted?" Uh, what part of ... My dad is 94 and he and my stepmother moved to assisted living a couple of months ago because he kept fainting and was losing a lot of weight. He's since had a couple of small strokes. He lives in Canada and I'm in Florida, but I can't do plane travel because of my own health problems. My stepmother, out of kindness I think, tries to shield me from the realities of his condition, but it's frustrating not knowing exactly what's going on. She doesn't like using the phone so we communicate mostly via email. I know he's getting good care, but he is in his last months and I just want to be able to sit with him and hold his hand and celebrate his life a bit.
  21. The winning ice sculpture and metal challenge were both really well done, so congrats to those teams, whoever they are. Naw, I know -- it was ice blond wife with hipster husband and red-haired wife with hipster husband. I liked the close brotherly support on the team that was eliminated and hated seeing the bigger guy break down. Your family will still be proud, dude! The attitude of the more pugnacious one who insisted that their broken snake tattoo was awesome would have gotten old, I'm sure.
  22. I'm 65 and developed a crush on Dave Navarro, of all people.
  23. It really was! I replayed it twice just for the giggles. Maybe the "No Content For Old Men" stuff was covered in the national news but I tend to avoid it, so the truth was interesting to learn. All bluster and bombast as usual.
  24. Oooh, I love hearing about that! Sometimes I'll dive into You Tube just to watch Suze Orman's "Can I Afford It?" segments! What I can't stand is discussing someone else's sex life. That's none of my business! How can I look someone in the eye after knowing all their squicky stuff? I'm okay with TV characters talking about it although I think they go overboard trying to show how open and edgy they are.
