MAFS Social Media, Spoilers & Speculation
zxy556575 replied to Bella's topic in Married At First Sight
I'd love to fill out that application form with my actual details just to imagine the shocked gasps of whatever casting interns they have sorting through them. Unless, of course, the next season is going to focus on a retirement village in Florida full of the nearsighted, saggy and overweight. Bonus points for walkers and oxygen tanks! -
Amy was so happy to find that woman on the street who shared her distaste for post-sex narrating. I've never run into that quirk myself, but her exuberance made me laugh. I also snorted over her comment about UTIs and needing to get up to pee right afterwards, because true. Her interview segments are always good but the gigolo actually shocked her. I expect her to work in references to The Container Store in her act now.

Yes! On the beach in matching piped jackets.

Jaclyn is in sales for a vodka company, so some sort of alcohol-themed event in Key West didn't strike me as unlikely. Or that the company might choose to have a sales retreat there. ;)

All Episodes Talk: Weekly Willises
zxy556575 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in The Willis Family [V]
I don't watch the Duggars but these people seem ... unobjectionable. They're certainly good looking, although I wish Brenda would comb her danged hair before doing her interviews. Cutting a few inches off wouldn't hurt, either. I'm not at all familiar with the Opry other than knowing what it is and the long tradition of live country music, so I wonder how they reacted to the comments about the Willises not being country artists. Nope! No way! Whichever child said grocery shopping wasn't a big deal -- yes it is. The rest of us cannot fathom doing that every week. I would like to see their recipe for taco salad, because really? I know from reading TWoP that the Duggars are big on tater tot casserole. -
I remember the middle episodes last season as being pretty boring, too. There's a lot of anticipation and action around the weddings, honeymoon and moving in together but then a lull until we get the decisions. Okay, yes. Jaclyn's boisterous, extroverted personality would wear on me after a while, but Ryan R is such a ... nothing. He has zero personality. He didn't seem bothered when Jaclyn was keeping him at a distance and didn't push her for sex or take any kind of positive action to try to bring them closer. He didn't respond any better after they had sex. He's not in any way affectionate, spontaneous or fun-loving. He barely smiles. His one tone of voice is monotone, if not outright dolorous. I thought he was at least loyal, stable, and dependable, but no. He cut and ran while Ryan Douche did not. For him to not so much as text Jaclyn while she was out of town was really low. Ryan R = flaccid ass Ryan D = angry ass Sean = selfish ass (yeah, Jessica, I said the word) Speaking of asses, Dr. Cilona was so far up Sean's that he could probably see light from the esophagus. Jeez. Way to be impartial. As for the women: Davina = pouting princess Jessica = sullen Cinderella Jaclyn = sales queen

I'll be magnanimous and let them live but I do wish multiple presenters would do a better job of deciding who's going to answer questions so they don't just talk over each other the whole time. -

Who did Jimmy pick this season for his Dancing WithThe Stars winner? I'm not finding this year's prediction online. He is Nostradancemus! -
Season One Talk: Spring Baking Championship
zxy556575 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Spring Baking Championship [V]
He was so sure he was going to win with it, too! I thought it showed the least creativity. I really wanted to eat Simone's salmon eclairs and Dwayne's hand pies! -
Becky's glaring absence is what tipped me off in the first few minutes, then I spent the next hour unfairly castigating the detectives in my head because it took them so long. Isn't is obvious! Heh. Her story would have fallen apart anyway, but pretending she was attacked was egregiously stupid since it only served to focus the cops' attention on her. And yes, both women were very similar looking! Same general type, anyway. I was looking up the names and the Internet tells me this has been previously covered by both Deadly Affairs and Snapped.

Did you notice the final shot with all three of them on the potty? Mother and son were facing forward with knees spread but Lori was wearing a skirt and pretty much posing sidesaddle on it. So dainty! -
S01.E02: Beyond The Tank: Episode 102
zxy556575 replied to yeswedo's topic in Shark Tank: Beyond The Tank [V]
Here's my takeaway: Plated guys: "The deal fell apart, unfortunately." Cuban: "They were greedy assholes." I didn't feel a bit sorry for them, myself. Partly because of their cockiness and partly because their business model seems unsupportable with such huge, ongoing capital expenditures. Hundreds of warehouses and thousands of employees across the entire country? I mean, I'll go back to the well of Amazon as an example -- this is from January of this year, about 2014: "Amazon had a loss of $241 million for the full fiscal year, as operating expenses climbed 20% to $88.8 billion, essentially wiping out $89 billion in sales." The Plated site won't let you see pricing or much of anything until you create an account, but I remember it being pretty expensive for not much. I'd be very interested to see their customer retention rates. My guess is that the majority try it for a week or two then "cancel at any time." -
S01.E02: Beyond The Tank: Episode 102

I didn't mind the Red Dress owners and even agreed with them about the website. You can zoom in a bit on the clothes now and see different views, and the site looks a lot less clunky. It didn't cost that much in the grand scheme of things and I didn't understand, even though he explained it, why Mark was so adamant. Not my style of clothes at all, but I wish them well. The sniffle-y Ruffery mom got on my nerves but Barbara's empathetic mentoring style seems to be a good fit for her (and "Ryan", but let's be honest). -

Squatty update! It surely was one of the most talked about products here, with quite a few people saying they bought one. Lori ended up at 10%, which is one of the most bargain basement offers we've seen, but with $12M in sales, it's another huge win for her. We all have a keenly honed sense by now of which products each shark tends to go for, and this was right in Lori's consumer-tchotchke wheelhouse. Incidentally, Bed, Bath and Beyond should be paying advertising fees on this show considering how often they're featured in updates. A lot of face-mopping going on tonight! I felt for the cadaver guy but can't say I disagree with the Shark's assessment of his subdued and analytical personality. -
Bummer! But it's not like networks give shows a damned chance these days.

S08.E24: The Commitment Determination
zxy556575 replied to MMLEsq's topic in The Big Bang Theory [V]
I wasn't surprised but will admit to a small "aww" moment. I thought it was very sweet and brave of him. Sheldon told Amy he loved her and they kiss now. Despite his difficulty with social interactions and other "not crazy" personality traits, I think he intends to make a life with her and knows she's the lid to his crooked pot. I'm very much looking forward to next season to see this arc through. I wouldn't be surprised if he and Amy ended up in Las Vegas to get married while Leonard and Penny don't. I sincerely hope the writers don't intend to draw out their break-up too long. I want to see Amy proposed to -- her tiara happiness would be nothing in comparison! -
I don't want to hear about anybody's damned dreams and certainly don't want to watch a show about them. I always like Charles Grodin, so there's that. "Drink a glass of water." Otherwise, can't you just pick up a small aquarium and move it? Empty out some of the water if it's too heavy, have two people lift, carry it to the new location and plug the filter in again?

It's also possible the camera crew wasn't there when Sean confronted the hotel staff. They don't film 24/7. -
S08.E24: The Commitment Determination
zxy556575 replied to MMLEsq's topic in The Big Bang Theory [V]
I thought it was a fitting finale. Everyone is in their 30s and it's now a show about their adult lives and relationships. Emily has never been fully integrated into the group and while I feel sad for Raj that he still feels lonely even with a girlfriend, she's not right for him. There would still be a lot of stories to tell with Leonard and Sheldon both married and living across the hall from each other. -
I agreed with Ragini that the second necklace was too much and the one she ended up wearing set off her dress perfectly. BUT she knew how important it was to her in-laws and it would have cost her nothing to be gracious about it. She's going to have a hard row to hoe with her SIL and MIL if she remains so unyielding. Because neither of them is going to budge!

Bringing this over from the episode thread to say preach! I personally have Issues from (of course) my childhood and a stepfather who physically abused my mother that make me avoid conflict at all costs. I have never argued -- never! -- in 45 years and over the course of five serious relationships. When I'm upset I either shut down into myself or walk away. EXCEPT! With my last marriage, when I turned into a rage-filled, shouting, foul-mouthed demon. I even punched him in the stomach once when he kept saying, "You want to hit me, don't you? So hit me!" He had a hair-trigger temper for no reason and it would make me furious when he'd get angry over nothing. Things like this would issue from me, "YOU'VE GOT TO LEARN TO CONTROL YOUR TEMPER!!!" So yeah. I'm quite familiar with bringing out the worst in each other and absolutely agree with regard to Jessica and Ryan. I really can't castigate either one for the behavior we've seen here because I think it's atypical for both of them.

She didn't exactly fill the jury with hunks who might, sociologically speaking, normally expect to mate with women of their own general attractiveness level, did she? ;) -

S03.E03: 12 Angry Men Inside Amy Schumer
zxy556575 replied to Lantern7's topic in Inside Amy Schumer [V]
I agree but I think Amy brings it up because she has heard and read hundreds or even thousands -- depending how resilient and/or insecure she is -- of those exact comments about herself. The Internet is full of people who aren't shy about calling her fat and ugly, even though she's neither. She made a point during the skit of having one of the jury guys bring up her set list to prove that her act actually isn't entirely about sex and that she herself isn't really slutty, etc. But honestly, I don't know any comics, male or female, who talk about sex as much as she does. She's one of the filthiest well-known comics working. I usually find it funny, but that is the bed she's made for herself.
