  1. This Nik looked like a refugee from the Russian Revolution! I also thought it was rather late for Ava to be moving the whacker. Leo is such a sweetie. I thought he was holding a piece of fabric or something, as it seemed he had it close to his cheek. Olivia's comment about it ruining his dinner did seem odd in that context. I loved Tracy's scene with Brook Lynn and Olivia. "Don't you have a lasagna to make?" was a great shot. Brook Lynn doesn't seem to be the sharpest knife in the drawer if she was so clueless about the Quartermaines, and getting Tracy mixed up with Maria von Trapp. " You sang with us! You ate pizza with us!" I also thought that Spencer's story about his not having had a mother when he was growing up made no sense, since Ace has a mother. The fact that he hasn't liked Esme in the past doesn't change that. It really seems creepy that he feels that he has more right to be a guardian to the baby than Ace's own mother but that sounds like ego and entitlement more than parental fitness.
  2. I watched GH back in the 80s, when Holly, Robert, Anna, Luke and Laura, Sean and Tiffany, all the gang were on there, and loved Nancy Lee Grahn on Santa Barbara, but not since then. I had heard that Emma Samms was coming back and I was happy to be able to see her again in the episodes where she was evading Victor and rescuing her son. I have continued to watch and want to thank all posters here for filling in some of the history of the characters! In regard to current characters, I am with all those who really really dislike Gladys and Evil Doctor, and I would be okay with Selena, one scary lady, taking Gladys out for nonpayment of debt, at any time! It is horrible what they are doing to Sasha. I also dislike Willow, Michael, Lucy, Joss and I forget her boyfriend's name, Molly. I think Calvin needs to just stop feeling sorry for himself. Tired of listening to him yowl! I think Jane Elliott rocks and looks fabulous. I like prison Cyrus, and he looks sharp. At the risk of being permanently shunned, I will say that i really like Carly ONLY because I don't know all of the history, and I like Laura Wright! Thanks again for all the info I get from the posts.
  3. You can't take drinks on planes anymore, can you?
  4. You also can't determine it isn't. People are making assumptions about it. I think it is highly unlikely that an adult woman would feel so helpless in an area surrounded by people. All she had to do was to take her arms from his neck and push him away. That would indicate to me that she did not like it. Her actions in no way indicated to me that she didn't like it.
  5. Yeah she went with it with her arms around his neck. I call false.
  6. Are you speaking for all doctors? It is up to the patient to make that choice, and if the dr she goes to won't do it, she is free to go to another one.
  7. I just saw the Brody/Berry kiss, and there is no way that was assault. She had her arms around his neck, kissing him back, and smiling at the end. The Carrey/Silverstone one was different, and I am surprised there was no security onstage, since she had trouble pushing him off.
  8. I don't know why. Deeply disagreeing with someone committing a crime is the right way to feel. No one has any control over any other people who dislike the guy. It does not make you racist or misogynist. What?
  9. That could happen, but it is not up to the doctor to decide to do it or not.
  10. It boggles my mind that as late as the 70s, I think, doctors would not perform tubal ligations on women without their husbands' permission. It reminds me of the episode with the woman who was taking the pill after three children, and when the husband found out, said, "she wouldn't do that. She knows I want a son." Of course the woman died.
  11. I was coming to like Miss Higgins, but after this episode, not so much! I know she was used to living alone and being independent, but how she treated everyone else at the house was beyond rude, and then to complain at the end that THEY were impossible to live with was beyond the pale. The sandwich and the bathroom...!!!!! It was THEIR home, not hers, and she should have been way more respectful of that, and them. I don't think leaving Phyllis the flowers made up for it at all. Two scenes that were great, the book slap, and Sr Hilda's offering the use of her car. Sr Frances: 'You don't have a car." Sr Hilda: "I'll buy one!" I don't think Miss Higgins was trying to repay their kindness with that awful "concert." I thought she liked to play, and thought that they should damn well listen to her. I think the social worker was being a little heavy handed, but I do not think she was wrong. She could have waited a while, though. As I said, I don't think people have the right to have children they can't afford or support, whether they like having them or not. Children are human beings, not possessions. I agree that Lucille and Cyril were being sanctimonious with their " no one has the right to decide who should be born." I also didn't notice them offering to support this family or any other. It seems rather bizarre to me that Lucille would have that opinion, living in Poplar and seeing the conditions that children were forced to grow up in. I also agree with Ella that Sr MJ does seem to be magically cured of her dementia, and I think that's a bit offensive. It only gets worse, to eventual total care, but she is all fine now, with her "spot on" comments as needed. I hope Jenny Agutter is well. She was barely in this episode and next week she gets sick, oh dear, so her time may be limited there too.
  12. I don't believe people have the right to have children they can't support, and expect others to support them. Obvs this wouldn't be a problem for people with higher levels of income. Plus, the more children low income people have, the far fewer opportunities and abilities they will have to try to better their lives. It's not just, "we have the POWER! We will control the babies!" Plus, as noted, the poverty becomes generational.
  13. Bruno.."who this Jada chick? It's ME no one should talk about!"
  14. I would appreciate it if you wouldn't put words in my mouth. I do think what Whoopi said was appalling. She did not say in any way what she thought should be done, just really excused his behavior. in my opinion, I think excusing and coddling someone who has done wrong is NEARLY as bad as what he did. I also said that it goes beyond Will, that people aren't safe at these events, it could happen again, and that is as appalling as Chris being hit. Yes, it is her opinion, but one that will reach alot of people. She is not a faceless member of the Academy. For her to excuse Smith holds alot of weight. Innocent until proven guilty is the only way the Academy can enforce the rules of conduct fairly. Otherwise, they would be revoking Oscars on accusation. Will has not been accused of assault, millions of people saw it with their own eyes. Lord have mercy, she could injure someone with those!
  15. I just read what Whoopi said, and it is as appalling as what Will did. She kept saying that he is going to get "big consequences," but said he is not going to lose his Oscar, be banned from the academy, right on down to saying that it would be wrong to take a black man out of the Oscars!! What does Will's race have to do with the fact that he committed a crime? I am fairly sure that if a white man had hit a black comedian, Whoopi would have been fine having him taken out. I guess Whoopi's "big consequences" are to send Will to his room for an hour. I read the comments, and more silliness about Jada being "bullied." People use words they don't even know the meaning of anymore. Thank you! They could totally be the same person!
  16. Wow! Would it be possible for any kind person to post pics of the two of them side by side? I'm not sure how to do that.
  17. I just read them and they say that they are "categorically opposed to any form of abuse, harassment or discrimination." Smith's actions definitely violate that. In regard to the others from the MeToo movement, I did notice that an accusation or accusations were all it takes for people to lose their jobs and careers, some accusations from decades ago. No formal charges, no trial, no conviction. If someone has committed a crime, the accusers should have to file charges against them. If they didn't commit crimes but acts of big jerkiness, no one should be able to publicly accuse, to be tried in the court of public opinion, with zero proof. "Innocent until proven guilty in a court of law..." So while it is reprehensible what those people have done, Polanski, Woody Allen, Weinstein, the Academy should not be able to take back their Oscars until they have been tried and convicted. Millions of people saw what Will did, which not only hurt Chris but demonstrated that people are not safe at these events, unless the hammer drops on Will.
  18. I think the point was that Will struck him, hard, in the face,
  19. Does anyone think as I do that Jessica Chastain really really really looks like Bryce Dallas Howard? Both lovely ladies, as well. I read that Will said in his book that he has had many girlfriends, and yet treated Jada like crap when she had one affair, in their open marriage, so obvs he doesn't see himself as a cheater. Pure rationalization.
  20. I disagree. The Oscars aren't a judge and jury, to "punish every performer who has done something wrong. as far as that goes, if anyone goes there, many of those who have done something wrong have not not been tried and found guilty in a court of law. So the difference is that Smith committed this act in full view of everyone, at the venue. Therefore, HE should have severe consequences.
  21. I haven't seen this show this season except for a bit of the first show. I watched a few minutes tonight, and now I know why posters have been going on about Molly. I couldn't stand to watch her five minutes! They had to make Japanese cheesecakes and she was practically pinning a guy into the corner, "what are you using, why are you using it," with her teeth kind of bared! She's scary!
  22. Speaking of Letterman and Crystal as hosts, I still remember Crystal singing "ain't it great in this segregated state, just drivin Miss Daisy back hooooome." I don't know why it's stuck in my head all these years! I looked up to see if he posted any comment about this time and he hasn't.
