  1. 48 Hours, Dateline, and 20/20 are all covering this story because there is such massive national interest in it. There may not be much to tell us that hasn't already been covered in an evening news show or online but its all about the ratings. I watched both 48 Hours and Dateline and knew that there wasn't much they could tell us but I wanted to see each show's "take" on the story. Frankly, I really hope that the police got their man in this case. The evidence is mostly circumstantial but it seems to be a drip, drip, drip in that it adds up to pointing the finger at this guy. And I'm afraid that his lawyer is going to use all the national publicity and interest about this case to argue that there is no way he can get a fair trial basically anywhere. Since I'm among friends here, I'm going to put in my two cents as a person who has been reading about "True Crime" for over 50 years (I was weaned on the Sunday NY Daily News Justice Story, and was given a multi volume True Crime "encyclopedia" when I was 15 as a gift). I'm going to guess that our killer became obsessed with one of the blond girls and started stalking her. I don't think she was a "random" victim but I think that the other people killed were collateral damage. I believe it was on Dateline that it was mentioned that the killer probably didn't expect to have a large young man staying at the house and he probably killed him and his girlfriend first. Supposedly, the two blond friends were in the same room, so if he planned to kill one girl, he had to kill the other. The witness girl who saw him was probably spared because the killer was probably wrapped up in thinking that he'd better get the hell out of there fast. My guess is that he was able to dispatch all four victims so quickly was that it was 4 am and the victims were sleeping and had probably also had been drinking so maybe their responses would be much slower than if everybody had been stone cold sober and awake at noon. If only one of the young women had been killed, it would have of course shocked the town but maybe not have made national news. I think that the killer was planning on one murder and circumstances turned it into four. Would the killer have gone on to murder other people if he had gotten away with this crime? I don't know - he was supposedly interested in the BTK Serial Killer - but I believe that the bottom line here was an obsession with one girl. I just hope they got the right guy and he gets put away for life.
  2. So far, I've watched the first two parts. To me this is just mindless comic book stuff - lots of things exploding and at the end, the good guys win and all is right with the world until the next episode. I watch NCIS and also NCIS LA (but mainly due to inertia on Sunday nights until it became a habit). Gave Hawaii 3 episodes and kind of gave up on it (my other half really disliked it). Not a fan of cross-over episodes but this is what we were given. NCIS will probably get renewed. LA should get the axe - it can be an ok show but gets stupid with all the personal romance stuff. Since I don't watch Hawaii, I won't venture a guess there. Part of what gets shows like these canned is the expense in making them. And my personal opinion of the lead actress is that she can't act and doesn't have a lot of person charisma, but that might be subjective.
  3. Watched Ep 1 last night and enjoyed it although found the ending very abrupt. Looks like Max has moved out of Mom & Dad's house and now has his own place. Kind of startled by all of the white interiors - was that a new decorating trend in Vienna at that time period? Also the fashion designer's dresses would have been considered very outre to say the least at that time. I kept thinking her clothing reminded me of something that Elizabeth Taylor wore during her fat period. Artistic Caftans. The French fashion designer Paul Poiret is credited today as the designer who "liberated" women from corsets. His pre-Twenties dresses may look odd to us now (probably looked odder back then) but not as odd as the tv designer's dresses. I guess that the "medicine" she is using is inspiring her fashion sense. And yeah, it's hard to watch Max and not think of the actor's dual role in "Magpie Murders".
  4. An okay episode. Arkady is always good for a laugh. The woman who played Mira looked so familiar - anybody know who that actress was?
  5. I agree but I guess they felt the need to be first in line as a True Crime TV Show. I think they were very respectful to the victims and talked about them more than the accused. Maybe they have to be careful about how much they say about Kohberger so his legal team doesn't scream that he can't get a fair trail and from what the show said towards the end, it seems that a bunch of stuff that the police have in evidence has been sealed, so maybe the show is not allowed to bring much up.
  6. I called "Bulls%$T!" on Rick's story as soon as we were told what happened. I agree with others above that Rick's story about his wife being A-ok with him getting another woman pregnant was crap, and that possibly him killing his wife was the aftermath of a big argument which was probably generated by her finding out that he was going to be this other woman's baby daddy. I wouldn't be surprised if he got the "inspiration" for his story from this case:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheshire_home_invasion_murders Which would have been know to everybody living in the Northeast with even a passing interest in the news. It was truly horrific and took place in CT. And yet again, I shake my head at these people who seem to be living a very comfortable (materially at least) life and all the issues and problems. I thought the same thing as Annber03 about Rick probably being abusive to his wife when nobody else was around. Or really laying it on thick because he was having an affair and if anybody suspected, others would be all "Oh, not HIM, can't you see how devoted a husband he is!". Obviously his family believes him because they seem to feel, "Oh no, Rick couldn't have done this - he's innocent!." That reaction in the face of all evidence always amazes me as well.
  7. This was a sad episode. It's a shame that the dirtbag ever got out of jail in California. Sex offenders like him are almost never rehabilitated - they just come out of jail learning better ways to do what they do and know that this time you don't leave victims alive to identify you. I mean, raping an 8 year old - he should have received life without parole or been castrated. That piece of work girlfriend of his - Angel. I think she was involved and from one of those first interviews with the police, seemed to know that her Boyfriend From Hell raped and killed that poor girl. How she stayed with him is beyond me, and I believe that they need to charge her as an accomplice. As far as her being a "nurse" , my guess is that she is either a nurse's aide or maybe a "practical nurse" - she doesn't seem to have the smarts to get through school as an R.N. But yeah, how one takes part or at the very least, helps procure a victim in a horrific rape/murder and goes into a "helping" profession like nursing is a head scratcher. Then again, there have been a few nurses (and doctors) who become serial killers with their patients as victims, so I guess that anything is possible. I don't know about South Carolina, but in New York, you need a 4 year degree to become an R.N. and many R.N.s also go on to get Master's as well.
  8. I think it was "A Stupid C@@t". Even I, of the Longshoreman's Mouth, won't type THAT word.
  9. Did anybody watch last night's episode about the young man who had been convicted of his mother's murder and recently got out of jail? Seems like the police figured that he did it and it was end of story and they didn't seem to be bothered to maybe look further (like at the woman's ex-husband and his cousin). Imagine going to prison at the age of 18 and not getting out until you were almost 40 and that you didn't do the crime. And even worse: that your father (who was probably behind it) seemed to be happy to let you take the fall. Really a tragedy.
  10. I thought the same thing, although it would be ok to see Regina going out with somebody.
  11. Maybe she wasn't totally knocked out and he wanted her subdued. Maybe she started to scream, which could've been why he stabbed her in a frenzy. He seemed like a smart young man and maybe thought the tub and water would wash away any DNA evidence (and he wouldn't have been wrong - they didn't get DNA off the knife in the tub). And yeah - if dragged in to be interviewed by the police, ask for a lawyer. Those cops seemed to do everything to that kid (victim's son) but shine a light directly into his eyes and then beat him with a rubber hose. They would have said they were justified if it turned out that he was guilty, but he wasn't and they didn't offer much in the way of an apology.
  12. I kept wishing that Bill would shut the hell up for a couple of minutes and let Bob Costa speak. Now there is a guy who must hear a lot of shit "off the record". Maybe he will go on Fareed Zakaria's show and we could actually hear what he has to say. Jared Polis was engaging. I'd like to see him go one on one with Chris Christie. As far as Bill pushing him about running for President, Gov Polis is a Gay Jewish man. There might not have been a Red Tsunami, but an awful lot of the midterm races were very, very close (they are still counting a few as I write this). These are interesting times in which we live in,, and I'm also waiting to see if Trump takes Bill's bait!
  13. You really have to feel bad for these victims who marry these greedy people who later murder them for insurance policies and property. The guy here was apparently very besotted with Cindy but maybe his besot-ment was running out which is why Cindy killed him (and despite the lack of real forensic evidence, and the original police work being shoddy, I believe that she is guilty as sin). Who the hell knows what was said during their fight; he could have told her that he was going to divorce her ass or that his son could move in and if she didn't like it, she could move out. We will never know. And rather than a heat of the moment type of thing, she could have been planning it. Wouldn't surprise me if there was another person involved who actually committed the murder while Cindy "slept" out in the trailer. And is it just me, but did anybody else think it weird that these people seemed to live in a fairly large looking house (even if the layout seemed a bit strange), so why would Cindy go sleep in that crappy looking trailer rather than in another room in the house - especially in August. So yeah, maybe it cools down a bit at night but not like it would in Sep or Oct. And I also don't buy it where a pharmacist would get a lot of emergency phone calls in the middle of the night (unless he's dealing illegal drugs). Cindy's story kind of stank like 3 day old fish. As far as the loud mouth sister goes - you've got to wonder what Kool Aid she was drinking. Talk about a cringe-worthy interview.
  14. Ah Donal Logue in deep undercover yet again (he seems to get typecast in that type of part) yet looking greasier than ever. It should be fun seeing him play up against QL. I do wish they would have more stories of everyday people needing help as opposed to all this CIA stuff. And the thing about "Moles" - jeez, didn't a few of the NCIS shows do that one to death? And I've got mixed feelings about the teen daughter wanting to learn her mother's badass skills. I agree with dwmarch above - if the kid wants to learn self defense skills, enroll in a Dojo and learn them. I'm afraid that this whole story line is going to be all Batgirl and Robyn, and yeah, Dee's training will probably save her mother's butt somewhere in a future episode. I like Dante a lot and enjoy story lines where he is featured. Normally, I hate family drama in cop shows but this show is just a fantasy thing rather than a regular cop show. And I very seldom ever "ship" characters in a tv show, but I was actually hoping that Robyn would kiss Dante. Thought they were going to go there, but nope, the buildup continues.
  15. Well, ok. We had some kind of/sort of "ripped from the headlines" here. The Suarez storyline was obviously taken from an incident that happened in NYC some months ago. A Black uniformed cop arrested a Black perp (who was wanted on an attempted murder charge) and a woman who apparently knew the perp started hitting the cop. I think that first the cop then shoved her and when she came back for more, he punched her in the face. Of course this was all on video and then the woman launched a lawsuit against the cop. The usual suspects got up on the news and started yelling Police Brutality. I saw the video and it appeared to me that the woman got what she deserved. As for the story about the little boy, there was also something recent in NYC about a child who went missing (can't remember if he was on the spectrum or not) and they found him riding the subway. Don't know if that was the inspiration of for the boy's story, but as the old saying goes, "There are 8 millions stories in the Naked City". And yeah, Suarez Mom - I thought that she must've started having kids when she was 12. Some people look good for their age, but c'mon.
  16. Could somebody explain the joke (pun) to me please? I still don't get it.
  17. Well said! I thought the same thing while watching this episode. It's horrible enough that he killed his parents (and I personally think that the saddest murders of them all are either parents killing children or the other way around) but to dismember(!) and then burn them - that is another level or hatred and weirdness there. And I too would have liked more of a deep dive into this family. This kid must have had some issues that people noticed. He seemed to be a psychopath squared. That young woman he was dating probably dodged one hell of a bullet.
  18. Well I guess that Scola is going to be a Baby Daddy (because in Dick Wolf world, nobody has abortions). Yuck. I just wish they'd keep to the crimes of the week and leave out all of this personal crap. If I wanted to watch a soap opera, I'd watch a soap opera, not a cop show.
  19. Did this episode of Dateline mention that Maggie was talking to a divorce lawyer, as I didn't recall them saying it. I had either read or seen (maybe on 48 Hours?) that she had decided to divorce Alex, and if true, that would be a good motive for him killing her, and maybe Paul was just in the wrong place at the wrong time - he was a witness and had to be murdered as well. And does Alex Murdaugh have siblings? And if so, are they "clean" or as much as thief as Alex?
  20. I'm enjoying this show - love all the actors in it and also enjoying the story. But could somebody please tell me what is going on with Atticus Pund's face? It's like he never blinks or something. There is a weirdness to his eyes. Is that what this actor normally looks like or did something happen to Pund in the concentration camp and that's why he looks like that?
  21. I'm confused where we are in posting about this show, but last night I watched a DVR'ed episode which featured Scola, Tiffany, and a friend of hers who was an ex-cop, who she set up as an undercover to get info about a murderous drug lord who was his cousin. And the only thing I can really say about this episode is with a friend like Tiffany, you don't need any enemies. It seems that this season is really doing a number on the Team. Tiffany has always been portrayed as an street smart agent who has a good head on her shoulders. No more, I guess.
  22. I have to agree with Annber03 and TVbitch. And yeah, what a weird story all ways around. That poor woman got herself mixed up with a real "winner" in that Marcus. 150% agree that if a man's son is warning that his own father is mad, bad, and dangerous to know, I'd be running in the other direction. And for all of the guy's so-called "charisma" and "charm" , it sure as hell didn't translate through the tv. Ugh. I'm glad that the judge had him locked up; just wish it could have been for longer.
  23. I like this show and liked how Haywood saved the day. I didn't like how they are now dragging her family issues into the show (I want a cop show that is crime of the week without all the personal drama angst). And I would've have never guessed that the Priest and Chief Suarez were brothers. I mean really? Ok, so there are families where siblings can look very different but you'd think they'd get an actor with a bit more of a resemblance to Jimmy Smits. Seeing the ethnic makeup of so many New York priests, I was thinking the Priest was maybe Pilipino. Ah, the world of TV - "shrugs".
  24. I called it about Collins less than half way through the episode. They were talking so much about the perps always having a jump ahead of the FBI, so I thought, "betcha it's Collins". I wonder if they are going to wait for the season break to pick up this story line again. Thank God there wasn't any of Deeks & Kensi acting like idiots about their teenage adopted daughter. And I adore Sam's father - it really seems as if it's the older actors who really make this show watchable.
  25. This was an ok episode. It is going to get old with the "will they/won't they" scenario. It's been done a thousand times and eventually they almost always "will". I do not like the quirky cousin. I guess that they need somebody to replace Rupert, but why her? Her clothing is SO out of date as to be laughable. She looks as if she's dressed from 1850; and even if she's supposed to be a bumpkin from some rural village, she probably wouldn't be dressed quite like that. And speaking of clothing, the store owner's wife looked so obviously fake pregnant. It just seemed to me that the "bump" was so too down, or did it just look that way because of the dress? When we first saw the lady, I thought, "is she having quads or what?". Back at that time period, it probably would have been very unusual for a lady of means to be even seen in public that pregnant. But I quibble.... overall a good show and I'm glad it's back.
