I think Anna talks about courtship, marriage, and babies with the girls on TV because she is REQUIRED to do so to stay in Michelle and Jim Bobs good graces and their dorm room (or pool house now that Josh is home). She probably gets a talking to every day or so if she doesn't tow the line.

I liked Henry when he was a college professor and not a CIA agent. The chracters' personality, values and ethics are just so conflicting with what he's doing right now. I half watch whenever Murphys Station, Russell, or the President is on the screen. It's all so dull. And, I like the actors that play Russell and the President.. Seriously,Matt is half Pakistani?

I have a feeling these pre-interventions last a long time. I imagine the 'custody battle' argument lasted a long time. I personally hope that Ashley ended up with the child more than the rest of them. She appeared to have a child the same age, and seemed to be the more stable influence. Maybe she is a single mother, and couldn't swing a second child full time.... but she said she would have her several days a week. I don't know why the boys' Mom thought she was more stable than Renee's Mom That Mom didn't knowingly give their child money to free up other money for drugs - she just believed her daughter when she said they were broke. I felt sorry for Renee's Mom, her heartbroken sobs in the car after seeing that room seemed very real to me. Brenda just seemed like a drama queen. Is this the first time we have seen Jeff let one of the family do a private intervention? Maybe he let Ashley do it because Renee wasn't targeted ahead of time? I gather from Jeff's question to Robert in his visit that Robert had gone home, relapsed and came back. I really liked all 3 of the addicts, and was very happy when reading the screen at the end. Luckily I was watching it live, because my DVR likes to cut off at the last minute and I miss the final screen. I am somewhat surprise that the boy's Dad didn't get offered a spot. However, he didn't seem interested, and 4 addicts in one show is a lot.

I never cared one way or the other about a romance between the characters, but there was definite chemistry there. What upsets me is that Abbie was an equal witness to Crane, not his guide. Yes, she helped him navigate present day Sleepy Hollow, while he educated her on the supernatural. They were always described as equal when referred to by ancient texts. Since the actress was leaving (see comments below), Abbie had to leave. Jenny should have been her replacement. If we needed a replacement. There were obviously centuries in which there was no witness because the 'superevil' was dormant, so there were periods of time with just one witness. Now as to the actress, who can blame her for leaving. She was the female lead and by the beginning of the second season, was reduced to a recurring character. The recurring character, Katrina, was given a female lead role that she couldn't handle. More and more cast members were added. Season 3 was even worse, Abbie barely appeared. Even more characters were added. The primary parts of the show that everyone loved were destroyed. Was it because she wanted to leave? Was it because filming was too intense, so cast members needed time off? Was it because the writers messed up the show because they steered it on some direction that only made sense to them?.... and then refused to understand that the FANS wishes needed to be considered? Was it because they got big heads and got lost in the weeds (as the writers in LOST did)? I've read that Season 4 (if it happens) will be on Hulu or Netflix. My internet comes thru a hotspot, so data is counted and charged. So I won't have access to this show, and good riddance.

Turned CNN on last night at 5:00PM or so, just in time for 'Breaking News'. No, not the Korea missile launch - the fact that Clinton and Sanders were trading insults prior to the debate. Seriously? The Korea missile launch was breaking news a couple hours later.

Intervention: Codependent - General Discussion
mythoughtis replied to Primetimer's topic in Intervention: Codependent
This episode was odd. The other addicts have gone to actual treatment centers. Not sure why Louis/Dan weren't. The entire show seems pretty low budget. I didn't care for Louis or Dan prior to intervention. They both cleaned up nice during the intervention. I was not surprised that Louis relapsed. He's too spoiled and weak at this point. Mama will take care of him. Once she quits and Dan quits taking care of him, too, then he will hit rock-bottom. Dan, once he got clean and sober , actually seemed like a nice guy. I didn't know what to make of Dan's Dad. he took the easy way out after the divorce, but he was here now. -
Several years ago here in the Midwest, more than 1 abduction of young women was done by men who used this ruse. Often in shopping malls. I really thought Juliet was using that hat and spell to keep herself as Eve. I figured this was the start of the 'return to Juliet' subplot. After all, Adelind is returning to her true self as well. Turning herself into Renard seems a little 'jumping the shark-ish'. Wesen recognize Nick as the Grimm only when they vogue. The photographer did not vogue during their initial visit, only in the doctor's office. However, given how many Wesen know Nick is the Grimm, don't you think his name and photograph would be making the rounds by now?
-
Nick doesn't get to use his immunity idol, Neal gets pulled from the game. Both are examples of the luck factor that goes into survivor. Every player is affected by the way the game plays out - merge saves you or it crushes you, you are seen reaching into your backpack, or someone thinks they saw you reach into theirs. That is what makes the show so fascinating to the viewers.
-
I'm guessing Neal didn't have to be shipped to a far off hospital, but could be treated by the medical staff, and be transported to the tribal councils. I don't watch the Ponderosa stuff, but I would assume it's a lot cleaner and more sanitary than the beach camps. I really dislike Scott and Jason more every episode. Stuffing geeks in lockers - that quits being amusing the day after high school graduation, and these guys look old enough to have offspring that are at least middle school age. Aubrey at least gave a speech about historical facts (wagon train), and tied it into the game. Tai and his chickens are just weird. Debbie is weird. I'd like to know why medical couldn't treat them at the challenge before they went back to camp. The last medical evac made it very plain that medical is present for each challenge.

My DVR also cuts off about a minute early. So thank you for the update. I am confused by Anne's reason for becoming addicted to drugs. She referred to 'trauma'... but her only trauma seemed to be: Mom left the family, store burned down, and Digger cheated on her after childbirth. She hinted that Digger should be in jail for some behavior towards her, but didn't elaborate. It sounded like the usual drug addict ramblings. Digger had actual trauma. Two drug addicted parents during childhood, childhood sexual abuse. Construction accident, given painkillers. The only adult in this family that had not been an addict at some point was Anne's Dad. I hope Digger can stay clean and sober. It will be hard to do so in that family. Was this the first episode in which 3 people were offered help?

I'm sorry Big Sky Girl. Did not mean to sound as if I was speculating on Josh's actions at this stage of his life ( or at any point that we have not been told about). Meant to counter the theory that Jim Bob wanted no more to do with Josh, or cared about his daughters more than Josh. If needed, feel free to delete my comment.
-
IF Jim Bob is done with Josh it is because it all became public, not because of what Josh did. When Josie was in the hospital at Little Rock for months, and the entire family (except Josh and Anna) moved there, this was shown on an episode: The 4 oldest girls needed to go back home to Little Rock, spend the night. They needed to clean up the home after Joseph and JD had stayed there, and take down the Christmas lights. They were NOT allowed to spend the night at the family home, even though Jana was over 18. Instead, they were required to pack themselves in like sardines at Josh and Annas'. Now, given what we have learned, isn't this like forcing the chickens to bunk with the coyotes? This was Jim Bob and MIchelle's rule. So, I don't believe either one of them would throw Josh out on his ear.
-
Why must they have flashback scenes in the middle of other flashback scenes? They put the trainees in cars for defensive driving, and then all of a sudden, ,they are back in the dorm.... and then back to the next set of drivers and back and forth and back and forth. I'm dizzy and confused. So Alex takes off for Vermont, and numerous hours later Ryan and Nimah follow her, and when they get there after their own 6.5 hour drive, she is still there? And, not at all surprised to see them appear. I gather Caleb is scamming scammers, and taking their money as Mark Redmond, and then donating the money (per what the dorky computer guy said)? Caleb is going to turn out ok after all. I will say this: the last 20 minutes of this episode actually made sense.... some writer failed at his assignment?

Intervention: Codependent - General Discussion

This format is interesting. I liked Kristina much better this episode - maybe because she wasn't required to be a B*tch to the addict to get them to understand what NO means. I was interested to see the progress in the various days in treatment and what was concerning the addict. I thought Caitlyn was very immature during her treatment meltdown with Kristina, but Kristina took it all in stride - which tells me this must be quite common interaction. I am glad that they broke up because Caitlyn needs some alone time to GROW UP. Her parents must have babied her from day 1, because she seemed quite clueless about how adulthood worked. I understand she has a pacemaker but she still should have not been babied and taken care of the way she was. He was much more realistic and willing to accept his responsibility for his own actions. I wonder if Kristina has addicts which refuse the intervention? -
Jane had to be in the dress and the high heel shoes because the writers keep wanting to turn her into Maura the 2nd. They've been particularly obvious about it the last couple years (the scene in a past episode past where she tried some stranger's high heels on somewhere comes to mind). The Suzie thing.... TPTB supposedly told the actress that played Suzie that they were killing the character so they could explore the cast's reactions to grief - which was goofy because they had just done that because of Frost. and 2 - we have heard Suzie's name exactly once in the entire time since then and that was a dream. Still wondering who the actress upset. I really don't like the Kent character, he adds nothing to the show. Kiki is ok, although she has been trust into the limelight lately, just like Ron. I agree that this allows the show to kill them off, without any real after affect. Jane's causing the wedding to be postponed multiple times was the height of stupidity. Why would she and Frankie even be working the day of the wedding?

farmgal There is NO reason to be embarrassed and ashamed. It takes several tries, and it is one day at a time for the rest of your life. You did what you could - got up, dusted yourself off, and tried again. There is a very good reason that AA wants people at meetings several times a week, and rehabs want people to move into sober living homes.
-
I don't think she was released after 76 days, that's just when her daughter was able/allowed/coordinated with the show to visit her. That visit is always when the show ends, and then we get the update via black screen.

I've read all the posts, watching the show 'On Demand' now. This woman seems mentally ill to me - of course, alcoholism will eventually do that to you. I just really have no sympathy, she tossed a husband and two kids down the drain. She lost their entire childhood. Seems to me that she should have held on tight to the children she had left rather than throw it all away. Of course, I've never been in her shoes, so I really can't say what I would do - just that what she did seems so senseless. I'm not saying that I have no sympathy for the loss of her child, just that I have no sympathy for what she did afterwards, and kept doing for years and years. The people I always feel sorry for are the parents of the addict, and the kids. These people don't deserve the H*ll their lives have become. gimi- The twins were healthy and happy, and living separate lives. One was in LA, the other in Germany.

Sometimes, Dateline's way of presenting stuff is confusing. First we get they have a wonderful marriage and she was pregnant with a second child, and they were moving to Minnesota so she could be a real Mom, and not deploy anymore. Then we get the real story. Where was this woman's brain about her personal life, why didn't she use the same brain she used to be a commander? Why stay married to a guy that was cheating while you were gone, is still cheating, got an 18 year old pregnant, and is partying with a bunch of teenagers? Why get pregnant a second time when you knew all that was going on before you even got home from deployment? She would have given her soldiers very different advice if they had come to her with similar situations in their personal lives, or her friends in thiers. I felt so sorry for Tristan, Even 15 years later, he seems abandoned, as if he felt unloved by his aunt. There was no explanation of what happened to Aprils' pregnancy, and subsequent child. Like others, I fail to understand six people who sat there and openly discussed KILLING someone, a pregnant Army Captain... because some guy who basically bought them beer asked them too.

Well, wow, Donald Trump can read from a teleprompter and hit all the talking points that Jewish people want to hear. I walked in the room, turned on the TV in the middle of Kasichs' speech - where there was lots of rousing applause because he was actually saying real stuff. Trump got very little applause, but no one seems to notice that. Cruz got medium applause. I did not hear H. Clintons' speech.

Please someone explain why we are still watching this? The only people that I even like are the non-hijab wearing sister, and Caleb. Yes, I know most people don't like him, but he actually seems more honest about himself than the rest of them. I have decided the reason he went to the bank at the end of last season is that he has info about Shelby's con-artist 'sister' in the deposit box. Alex is like Harry Potter was... she thinks she is the only person capable of doing anything, and therefore, will never involve 'the adults', or in this case, her superiors. These FBI agents remind me of the ones on The Following, and I anticipate the same result. I also cannot believe that 3/4 of the recruits would have passed a real background check.

What I found unbelievable about the mask-maker is how he was willing to save the fighter at the end by telling Nick what ceremony was needed. That didn't jive with taking the other Vesens' face off, and not explaining the contract to the fighter in the first place. had he told him why he shouldn't wear the mask outside of the ring, then the fighter wouldn't have killed anyone. Nick was turned off, not by Juliette being a hexenbiest per se, but more by her personality change. She became increasingly erratic and mad at the world.... and then tried to kill him. That was all her.

I like the background story, and some of the 'daily life of an addict' scenes where it's shown how much they've lost to their addiction. I usually half watch during the obligatory 'family dinner with the addict' scenes, and the pre-intervention scenes. I may watch the pre-intervention if I think the interventionist is going to read a relative or friend the riot act for their own behavior. I don't like to watch the chase scenes where the addict runs from the intervention and people go drag them back in. I don't like following the addict to the motel or house where they are going to turn tricks to earn drug money, or into the 'hood' where they are buying the addiction product. I especially watch the intrervention if I think they will offer an addicts' significant other treatment also. I have a hard time watching the ones where the parent is the one that got the child addicted, or parties with them. edited to remove gibberish,

Like others, I often feel that certain episodes of Intervention should be required viewing for 8th grade/high school classes. This is one of them. I never knew what meth induced psychosis was until I saw this episode. Veronica - please keep your chin up, and remember to take care of yourself. I was very impressed with your knowledge and how well you spoke during this episode. I pray that everything works out well for Sierra, and that she gets up every time she falls and tries again. As you know, it sometimes takes several tries.

Glad tai didn't play his idol, but wish he hadn't told anyone about it. Peter has the stereotypical arrogance and terrible beside manner of a surgeon, which he is not.
