  1. She was very pretentious I thought. Also she is a 'singer', so she moves to a city where only one hotel offers live music at times? How is she going to support herself? Somehow, I don't think her cookbook will generate that much income.
  2. The sister suing the brother and hi girl over the Acura pissed me off. The brother was so lazy, he didn't even want to bother to reach into is pocket to check the date of his driver's license when MM asked! I wished MM to rip him a new one, not think it was so adorable that he handed over his daughter to his sister even in the midst of the family drama. Okay, at least he does do that. I wanted to slap the GF too, who snarked about how she (the sister) gets her 'little boyfriend' to pay for things. how is that any worse than YOU paying for the loser ass POS boyfriend you just bred with? Whatever...hated them lol
  3. All I could think about (Florida episode with the large deck he built himself) was the swamp underneath the deck...mosquitoes and zika! Did they drain it completely before building the deck? I wasn't watching with all my attention...
  4. I hate it when they go into a fully functional and new kitchen and declare it 'needs to be upgraded'. No...you may not like the countertops or cabinets or whatever, but just because it isn't your taste does not mean it needs to be 'upgraded'. It's like they think their taste makes something more valuable. Maybe I think your taste sucks so it would be a downgrade in my opinion...lol
  5. Yeah, and the thing with the kitchen cracked me up as well AuntiePam. She did state how much she liked to cook, blah blah, but then liked a kitchen with no stove better. Agree about the slipcovers: you are renting. It is not a big deal to cover the ugly furniture. Now if it's also uncomfortable furniture...oh well!
  6. I was very excited to see that HHI was going to Zanzibar, but was a bit disappointed in what they showed. I didn't really care for any of the apartments, but did laugh at not wanting a squatter toilet. Me either!
  7. I wouldn't consider 2 miles all *that* close really. It's a long walk carrying stuff, especially if it's a really hot day. Not so bad going, but coming back you would be all sweaty, hot and miserable. lol Bikes would be fine, but then you have to worry about them getting stolen. I can walk or bike to the beach from my home, but rarely do so.
  8. I thought this as well. Plus a lot of times they will mention that they sold their original property to move, but no mention was made of them selling the Carolina home. And yeah, why wouldn't they be able to afford more than $100k? As usual, there must be shenanigans in the background which ended up distracting me from the episode. I also thought they would pull a 'we bought both!' twist at the end.
  9. London lady (and her sister) bugged me. I get it: she has money. But her whole 'I want what I want' attitude and response to blowing the budget by over $1 million made me want to punch her in the throat. If I had that much money, I would get what I want too, but I wouldn't have an obnoxious, entitled attitude about it. Turns out, what she wanted was not that great imo. I would have thought she would get something fantastic, but it was just okay, really, although I really liked the outside look of the building. And her 'design' was just meh. Anyway, I was so happy to see an episode in London, but she ruined it for me. lol
  10. I think it looked much nicer after the 'cage' was removed., plus when they were demolishing the Florida room, they found the beams were not supporting anything, and it would have needed to come down anyway. But the $41k was a pretty steep price I thought.
  11. Regarding laundry area not in the main house: when I rented, we had them in the half bathroom. It was annoying if someone needed to use that bathroom for bathroom purposes when you were doing your laundry. I thought it was icky and not practical. When I bought, the laundry unit was in te detached garage. I kind of like it. The walkway from the front door to the garage door is covered, so you don't get wet if it rains and if there is a leak, the damage is minimal since its in the garage. It wouldn't be a deal breaker for me if my next house (not that I am hunting, but i can dream!) had a similar set up. As long as the walkway is covered, I am okay. Mr. Mid Century Modern didn't bug me as much as some of these HH do: maybe because I was distracted by other things while I was watching. lol
  12. She actually sold several of the ugly state 'string art' pieces. But her shop shows 31 sales in total, so not exactly a full time money maker.
  13. lol If she gets her own show, I won't watch...she irritated the hell out of me for some reason. lol
  14. No, it really looked like an elementary grade school project. And it wouldn't take up much room to do them, so I don't know why she needed so much space for it. Go get a real job, so you can afford a nice apartment with a (I think you fiance may have mentioned it once or twice, heh) terrace.
  15. *small voice* my cats do have a cat cave. lol Well, actually a catio, as I enclosed the cement slab patio outside the living room. I can go in as there is access through a chain link gate as well as the cat door, but it is theirs.
  16. This ^ They had several bedrooms that are unused, as one doesn't constantly have guests over to stay, and they had no children yet. I am all for a dedicated office, sewing room etc. but her whining made me nuts because each place had ample room for the bloody 'crafting'. The dome house was on a gorgeous piece of property and was cool on the inside, but pretty damn ugly on the outside. lol Not my taste, I guess. I did agree that the 'craftsmen' homes looked pretty generic, but were nice.
  17. This was so strange, especially the end. I didn't get it either. All I could think was with the $575k (plus $$$ spent on furniture) she and her family could have traveled to LOTS of different places all over the world together. I am all for a vacation home, but the distance between home and Paris was too great for this to be practical at all, unless they rent it out when she/they aren't there. ETA that realtor lady bugged the crap out of me! lol
  18. I had to laugh at the HH in South America (sadly cannot remember where..I blame binge watching) who had a $600 per month budget and a long wish list, naturally: the realtor told them they would need to compromise as their budget wasn't sufficient for their wants. She shows them a house for $850/month I believe and the woman states, well at $850 it better blow me away!. I hear similar from other house hunters in all the varieties of the show, and I can understand IF their budget was realistic to the area in which they are hunting, but when the budget is low for the area, I find it completely obnoxious. research and get an idea of what you are likely to find with your budget. But then I remember, the statement is most likely producer driven...
  19. Good point about the utility bills. But that Tudor house was freaking gorgeous. That blue they painted the living room was baaad. Also, he was the artist, right? The Tudor was the house with the solarium? I watched too many in a row and the details are blurred, but his paintings were definitely not to my taste and looked odd being hung in such a gracious and elegant home.
  20. Yes, I love the dramatic break to the commercial. The suspense is just killing me. lol And the house we chose is nothing like what we said we wanted but it's now perfect for our family. I forget which episode in Mexico I was watching, but the houses all had such gorgeous tiling in the kitchens and bathrooms. Really beautiful. Show us stuff like that!
  21. I don't get why they try to manufacture story lines. Most seem really fake, and the true story often just as if not more interesting. I don't get it. Just show me the houses anyway: I could not care less about the 'story'.
  22. Another from Oahu here. :-) Yeah, a 1 acre island would freak me out! The couple that bought a piece of that island with the waterfall bugged me. The entire island was a preserve of some sort, but the owner was allowed to sell 30 something acres of it, and new owners (of that piece) they want to put up 25 villas by that gorgeous fall. I keep hoping they end up not being able to build. lol And they went on about 'their' island, but they only got a small piece of it really. Unless I am remembering it incorrectly?
  23. I had liked the couple prior to her making that statement, and liked them even more after it. Refreshing indeed! I loved seeing the houses there and wished they would show more. I want to visit Marrakesh now
  24. Thank you, I did end up FF through the dog case (and after reading further comments, I am soooo glad I did) and saw the 3 Harridans! lol But didn't one say she was with her mom for 20 minutes the day before she passed? Or did she only speak on the phone?
  25. Thanks for recapping the dog case: I can delete it and save my blood pressure. Poor dogs. :-(
