  1. Anything that is to blame for this homogenized, passionless version of Rosie doesn't get a Thank You from moi. It actually really makes me sad. Oh, and to Rosie Perez -- no, that "unless you're homeless" line wasn't funny.
  2. Can't remember the topic already even though it's only been an hour since I watched but when Rosie O was having a rare moment of actually talking about something and Whoopi was doing her usual backup singer shtick with her "Right, right," Rosie muttered a "Right" after Whoopi and it gave me a little snicker. On that note, I am having such a hard time reconciling this 'new' Rosie with the 'old' Rosie. If it wasn't for the fact that she looks the same, I would not even recognize her. It's also all about control.
  3. Not much to say about today's episode. Other than the whole elephant-in-the-room moment when they were discussing commercials that make them uncomfortable and Nicolle brings up a commercial for Lena Dunham's Girls as an example. Nobody is touching this Lena Dunham controversy. I have yet to see any show take it on as a hot topic or a discussion. Hmmm.. Randoms: I have heard Rosie O'Donnell call Martin Short her favourite comedian before, calling him the funniest person in her opinion. And I still have a giant crush on Nicolle's hair and her gorgeous dresses. The dreaded thigh high grey suede boots haven't made an appearance recently.
  4. Major pet peeve in this house. My husband & I always yell (well no, not really) "If I wanted to watch youtube videos, I'd go to youtube!!" Grrr. Edited to clarify: My husband does not watch the View and would be appalled knowing that I mistakenly implied that he did. I meant when he watches his shows and they waste time on this youtube crap.. This, too. I can barely garner up enough (fake) interest & enthusiasm for this shit in my own life; I am really not the least bit interested in theirs. Okay, unless it's Rosie O's kids, then I am actually interested because I feel like I have "known" them since birth.
  5. The best take-away line that I am still laughing about days later is when Jake says to Annie, as a compliment: 'Babe, you're just like Oprah. You don't have any kids of your own but you tell everyone else what to do with with theirs!' Hee! I am still laughing at that one.
  6. That was my favourite bit, too. Especially the part where Mitchell says 'she's standing next to the kid who's dressed like a hobo' and Cam says 'I don't think that's a kid, maybe I should get an adult' hee. With that said, I think the arrival of the wild & crazy new neighbours is Modern Family's shark. I do not care about them, nor am I interested in getting to know any new characters at this point in the show. I am only interested in the core characters and they are the reason I tune in. If the writers have run out of new ideas then get new writers. Don't bring in new characters. New neighbours aside, this has been a really weak season so far and I am disappointed. Been watching since the first season and found last year so much stronger & funnier than the previous season which I found to be really bad. Along with the new neighbours thing, I find there is way too many mugging for the camera moments this year -- as in someone makes a joke and then makes a face to the camera. This was funny when it was done occasionally. When it's done 5 times an episode, it's not funny. Too many throw away one liners and not enough time spent on story lines. Seems as though they aren't putting any effort into it.
  7. This is my biggest grievance with all of these types of shows. I have heard the powers that be blame it on the short attention spans of the viewers. Which is a big pile of horse shit. Even worse than daytime talk / entertainment shows are the morning shows; especially Today. I gave up watching those things years ago because they were literally stressing me out so bad because the hosts are always rushing-rushing-rushing!!! I can't handle that shit because I pick up on their nervous energy; I have enough trouble not being neurotic on my own. The only show that doesn't seem to pack 5 guests into one show and actually has somewhat substantial interviews is Live with Kelly and Michael. But I can't watch that either because of Kelly Ripa. So I seem to be stuck with The View. LOL, goldenpuppy. Thank you for my 1st laugh of the day!
  8. LOL, anyone remember the Will & Grace Manilow episode with Sara Gilbert guest starring as his biggest Fanilow? So funny.
  9. I agree that Danica looks much older than her age. I read on here last week that she was 25 and I seriously just about fell off of my chair!! I also missed her intro last week when her mom & daughter were in the audience and when the camera guy kept going to them while she was singing I couldn't figure out who they were and who's baby it was. I was so confused. This is so awful to say but I thought it was maybe her grand daughter. eek. And as a 41 year old, I am not just snarking on old people! She did look better somewhat last night and perhaps not as old as the previous week. And she is actually a tiny little thing which I did not notice last week because her styling was so atrocious. I could honestly go my whole life without ever having to hear someone sing another Whitney Houston song. Ever. Same goes for Stevie Wonder. After too many years of watching singing competition shows, I am burned the hell out. Jessie totally looks like a young Connie Britton. I enjoy her but like others have said, sounding exactly like EG is going to get her nowhere in real life. Watching Tanner's reaction to T-Swift was cute. Edited to add: That Griffin-singing-Beiber perfromance was cringe-worthy. So bad. What in the world possessed him to choose that song at this point in the show?
  10. Perfectly stated and I agree! Adding to that --- too many characters crammed into one show makes for too many random episodes. They need to cut this cast down big time instead of constantly adding to it. I feel nothing and have no connection to 80% of these characters and have no desire to get to know them better (Amelia...) Let's get back to basics and focus on the people that got us here in the first. yeah right, that ship has long since sailed.
  11. It was Amy Robach; the lady who found out she had breast cancer while doing an on-air segment for mammograms. She is also married to Andrew Shue. Super cute hair!
  12. Yeah, this was pretty much the worst episode of Scandal ever. Just Blah. To try and add at least something else to the discussion other than that, how about Jake antagonizing Fitz about how he was screwing Olivia for months on the island so that Fitz got even more ragey whilst beating the shit out of him. What? He wasn't pummelling you hard enough, Jake, so you had to rile him up some more? That and Olivia's brain was apparently removed for this episode.
  13. Thank you Medicine Crow, NextIteration and dumbdownus -- you guys are all awesome!
  14. Damn, I am actually starting to be pissed off again when I miss a day of seeing the show. That has not happened in many, many years! Can a fellow Canadian help me out and let me know if there is somewhere online where I can catch daily clips of the show? Damn You ABC for "restricting" me to watch your stupid show online.
  15. I loved the part when Mitchell commented on never having seen a frowny face stamp before and Mrs. Plank informed him that she had to order it from Germany. hee!
  16. Thank you for the Toofer reference! I knew I knew that guy from somewhere but was too lazy to get up and google. I liked this episode much better than the season premiere.
  17. Yep! I just caught the 1st half of the show that I missed earlier. And lots of shilling going on today. Swiffer and Nicolle's "Sidebar" for The American Frozen Food Institute (who knew that existed?) This is really starting to piss me the hell off!!
  18. Not at all. This was probably the worst interview I've ever seen with her. Her natural ease and charm were a little off today which is of course completely understandable given the circumstances. She was probably very nervous that it would be brought up. She was also paired with the 2 weakest interviewers. She obviously had a job to do as she was there to promote Swiffer and the ASPCA and they spoke a little bit about Modern Family but it was really clunky and awkward. I so agree with you -- it would have been much better with Rosie!
  19. They need to stop pairing Nicolle & Whoopi together to do interviews. Because they are just bad. The 2 Rosies are the better interviewers so if they are going to keep pairing co-hosts up, there needs to at least one Rosie per interview. I only caught the last half of the show today; the Terry Crews & Sarah Hyland interviews and noticed in both that Nicolle was badly interrupting and stepping on other people's sentences today. It was really bad.
  20. Thank you CathInAZ. I shall try to remember that while I am watching her with great hair envy :) LOL, Cosmocrush. Can one of our fellow board members who tweets please take one for the team (a small team of two being Cosmo & me) and ask Nicolle about her hairspray situation?
  21. I am mesmerized by her hair: the color, the cut, the style, even the hairspray that allows it to move but stay in place! I generally love her clothes too but not the over the knee boots. I have the same haircut as Nicolle's and seeing how fabulous her hair looks every day is giving me a major hair inferiority complex. I, too, am fascinated by the glory of it all. Sigh. Too funny that you even mentioned the hairspray factor, Cosmo, because finding the perfect hairspray is a personal quest of mine and I too, have wondered about what they are using on her's to keep it in place yet also leave it looking all swingy and natural. Her dresses are pretty much to die for. But those boots are a big giant oh no! LOL, Chicagocita. I agree with you on both points there.
  22. Rosie barely finished her last sentence about taking Chelsea to get her nose pierced when Blowhard Whoopi chimes in with "Here's the thing about Kids...!!" and I literally saw Rosie take a deep breath in reaction to it. Rosie (and the others) deserve a bonus at the end of every week that they manage to get through an entire show without losing it on Whoopi. As a viewer, I'm starting to feel like I should be getting something in the mail from them, too. Because SHUT UP WHOOPI. *In other news, Nicolle looks fantastic today. Her stylist & hair/makeup people are spot on. And the show started at 11am and by 11:07 I was already snickering thinking of this board because Whoopi had already laughed her way through the taxi topic intro to cover up that she flubbed the word automated with automatic and Rosie P. already brought up being a woman of colour during that same discussion. All by 11:07, lol. *Have to take this comment back somewhat as i just caught sight of the grey knee high boots. Eek. Not a fan of those. Love her look from the knees up only. And Gloria Estefan never ages. She is like Julia Louis Dreyfus in that she looks more beautiful the older she gets.
  23. Highly recommend Brand's Booky Wook -- a 10/10 read. Booky Wook 2 also enjoyable though not as much as the first. Was a huge fan of the man's up until he said some really shitty thing about Katy Perry after they split. Humiliating things that didn't need to be said publicly. This is not because I am a Katy Perry fan; this is because I am a woman who felt it was a really shitty thing to do. That has since tainted my admiration for him but I still appreciate listening to his insightful thoughts & opinions on anything & everything. He is just so damn interesting and has a lot of important things to say. Yes! And condescending. People who do this are also not listening to what the other person is saying either. They are just waiting for the person to shut up so that they can start talking again because what they have to say is more important. This & her laughing her way through the topic intros (in an attempt to cover up all of her flubs, IMO) are really the only 2 big annoyances I have for the show this year, other than that, I am loving it!
  24. Melissa Etheridge's personal life is a mess. I wonder if she will finally be able to get her shit together in this new relationship; the one that started because she needed someone to move in to help her take care of the 4 kids she had with 2 other women -- my, how romantic. And granted, I was only half-assed watching/listening as I was in & out of the shower but did another guest cancel today or something? Because Melissa seemed to have been on a long time today; like she was given an extra segment or two. Oh, and edited to ask: Why oh why would Rosie O be going commando yesterday? And sorry Rosie, I know you & Lena Dunham just told us viewers the other day that you both hate the expression "TMI," well, sorry babe, TMI!
  25. Ron Perlman creeps me the hell out. They were just talking about Whoopi on CNN right now. Talking about her comments this a.m. about the president & the secret service.
