  1. Yes!! This dog, Little Johnny and the Newman horses are my favorite actors on this show. :) What cabin is Nick in? Maybe this was explained during the Newmanity (lol!!) Party but I zoned out because Nikki wasn't smashed and that would have been the only interesting thing about a Newman get-together. Maybe Nick can be Adam/Gabriel's work out buddy. They've dyed GT's hair a brighter red, so I think Summer's hair color was changed to make them look more like mother and daughter. Last question: wtf was going on with Jill and the photo and Harding? She took a photo of someone and sent it to the GCPD and they... what happened? They ran a facial recognition scan and then got a warrant, all in less than ten minutes? Paul Williams has an expert forensic analyst just sitting around waiting for people to take photos on their iPhones and send them to him? I need to get drunk when I watch this damn show, maybe it would make more sense....
  2. Uh-oh... is it a UO if i say that I don't think Noah comes across as a creep and is in fact completely adorable? Kevin is okay lately, too.
  3. This has been driving me nuts: does anyone else recognize Jackie from another reality show a few years ago, or someone who looks exactly like her?
  4. Okay well I feel a bit rude ignoring the offer of info after I expressed skepticism, so... for starters, why aren't you (if you are Becky) listed with the employees on the West End website or mentioned in the paragraph about acquiring the company, if you are co-owner?
  5. Good point! I guess I expected them to do the opposite and be all shiny and happy about the union THEY made happen.
  6. It's funny how everyone is seeing a different color for Kate's dress (bye, Kate!). On my t.v. it was verging - almost - on Alice blue, which I love, so I didn't see how the judges were saying it was a sad color or a neutral. And funnily enough I knew what she meant about it reminding her of Florida, even though smell might not have been the best choice of words... when Isaac wrinkled his nose I'm pretty sure he was imagining the briny, decaying scent of low tide on a hot day. The design was nothing special, though, and I'm fine with her leaving. I completely agree with everyone's opinion about the sob stories. What is this, American Idol? Justin's fabric design was a mess. It looked like a visit from Mr. Hanky The Christmas Poo.
  7. So I caught a rerun about Jill's engagement. First ep I've watched in maybe three years and this will do me for another few years! But my question is this: I thought JimBob and MEchelle approved of Derick? Because in the engagement ep they went out for ice cream and to do marriage counselling (that's a whole other thing, omg) and MEchelle said, wanly and unenthusiastically, "Looks like you found someone just like your father" and Jib Bob said, very glumly, "These are exciting times" and then they looked down at their ice cream in silence. It appeared to be the opposite of a sign of approval. ???
  8. They're probably getting the counterfeit/expired stuff at a low end beauty supply. Thanks for googling that, DamWrite. I guess someone needs to tell the Duggars that crunchy fried straggly curls are not the same thing as wavy. Unless their headship aka JimBob has decreed he likes it fried and straggly and crunchy...
  9. IIRC, I think it was Gothard who said the feminine ideal includes long curly hair. Which is great if you have the right hair type for it and that's how you want your hair, not because some creepy old guy said that's what women should look like. Plus I doubt Jim Bob would pay for them to go to a salon, or good products for them to use at home. *sigh*
  10. It's odd - she seems to have an uncomfortable expression on her face in every shot. Perhaps it's her singular artistic (ha ha) interpretation of the character, or perhaps that harness is giving her wedgies. Apparently the score is out of her vocal comfort range, too, so that can't help. Walken will be having fun and that's all that matters (to me). Here she goes again: We learned last year [with The Sound of Music] that even if you present something that's breathtaking, some people will hate on it," Williams says. "So screw 'em. We have to enjoy it. If we do, that will make it even more fun to watch, for people with the right mind-set." http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/tv/2014/11/18/peter-pan-live-prepares-for-takeoff/18914777/ I forgot the part where Carrie Underwood's performance was breathtaking but there I go with the wrong mind-set because I'm not "strong".
  11. This will be a glorious hate-watch for me. Only made better by the fact that Dame Allison Williams has come down from her flying harness to lecture us about moral character: People watched The Sound of Music wanting it to fail, and I know that people will watch Peter Pan that same way, but I would hope that the strong among them would watch thinking lovely and wonderful thoughts. http://time.com/3596602/peter-pan-allison-williams-christopher-walken/ (but Christopher Walken can do no wrong in my books; hopefully he'll stab her with his pirate sword)
  12. I think Avery will say it was an attempt at intimidation and use this as proof that Sharon is not well and balanced. Dickyouass is a perfect name for him. :) Kristoff St. John is dead weight at this point and I agree they need to toss him. He can take the rest of the Winters with him.
  13. I'm putting this in unpopular opinions because THE CHEESE STANDS ALONE, but I have to say it: I yelled "yesss!!" when Dylan told Sharon that no one owes her forgiveness and she can't just say sorry, she has to work on getting her life back together and expect it to take time (or words to that effect). Imagine that, words of wisdom from Dylan. He should have also told her she can't waltz into the office of opposing counsel and expect it not to be used against her, but baby steps.
  14. I'm honestly surprised he had the nerve to tell Nikki all their troubles are behind them when this whole mess with Sharon means a nasty custody battle for the fate of his granddaughter. Is he as drunk as Nikki?
  15. It just occurred to me that Alyssa's outfit when she descended from the Wicked heavens was a riff on Dorothy. Except Alyssa is so far along in her pregnancy that they had to make it, um... well, it ended up looking like that. Only explanation I can think of for those shoes.
  16. I think the palm fibers point to how this all got started - ships that were sailing the Atlantic and Caribbean at least passed by this island, if not stopped at it (such as smugglers). So material from those journeys, like palm fibers, either washed up or were directly brought onto the island. And what do people associate with that route? Pirates. And what do pirates do, according to Robert Louis Stevenson? Talk to parrots and bury treasure. Reality got romanticized. And then the actual composition (is that the right word?) of the island lent itself to the story with the way a dug shaft will flood (the island has sink holes), and lo and behold there are materials consistent with the shipping route... therefore OMG TREASURE! If anyone is interested in an analysis that includes insights by archaeologists, geologists and folklorists, this site is an interesting read: http://www.criticalenquiry.org/oakisland/
  17. Supposedly he's saving the updates for the season finale. Hopefully this will be addressed.
  18. My brain read that as free stools for small business. :) Why pay for one of Marcus's wooden stools when Chase will get you one for free? Lola and Amarsir, you have brought more salient points than the entire episode did! Btw Marcus has said the Chase ad won't happen again. Not sure if it's because he didn't like the way it came across or because of the criticism he got. The NHL already has at least one- licensed to make mini hockey sticks. I have one made by Wincraft. For instance: http://www.wincraft.com/wincraft.html?conference=15321&league_name=91161&product_type_sub_cat=101751&team_name=91191 They're composite, not real wood, but I wonder how much more someone would be willing to pay for real wood since it's just a novelty item. Back in the 70s they were made of (cheap) wood but that was the olden days when dinosaurs roamed the earth and no one got their stuff from China. If there's a way to make real wood ones reasonably priced then it's a market they should have looked at. I agree that cutting boards and salt shakers don't really seem geared to the college crowd.
  19. How is that everyone is wondering about Thanksgiving dinner at this late date? Do the Newmans not fight about this all the way back in August like every other family? It is delightful that Lauren thinks she has actual fans and admirers who stop her during her day, as opposed to rationally concluding that the person who stops you to introduce himself tends to be, you know, the person you're there to meet. Even better that she pretends to know what a prospectus is when the former prime minister of Canada clearly gave her two measly pages that he printed off at Kinko's. (Can she please go the way of Nina and Danny, just show up for special occasions?)
  20. I think he's saying it's one of two things: either it was part of a ritual that reenacts the symbolism of finding treasure in Solomon's Temple, where the Masons don't literally believe they are dealing with treasure, in the same way someone taking communion doesn't literally believe they are drinking blood and eating human flesh (they know it's wine and wafers, but they believe in the symbolism). Or someone, possibly with a connection to Masonry, took the germ of a local treasure story and added on a bunch of Masonic hooey to make it more intriguing and mysterious. They could have been an opportunist hoping to make money off the legend, or they could have been a mere pranskter. And then over the years the story keeps getting added on to until now here we are with people digging up the island looking for the Ark of the Covenant. (Haven't they heard it's being guarded at a small church in Ethiopia?) The simple cipher stone indicates this was either a ritual or a hoaxer - someone who had truly buried important treasure wouldn't leave such an easy clue. Same with a bunch of other "artifacts" and "clues" that have allegedly been found. So either way, Nickell believes this is all wrapped up in Masonic symbols, but not at all a real treasure. That was my take on his article.
  21. Thank god for peach's recaps, I didn't see this episode and it was way better to just read about it. So am I to understand they called 911 and no police could respond? Paul Williams couldn't get off his fat old ass? And no one who works in that fancy Jabot building noticed the exhaust fans were turned full blast for a whole day or, hello, a woman was giving birth in the parking garage? These writers are laughing at us. Meredith Baxter's heart attack scene was priceless and will live forever on my DVR. Maybe the writers are laughing at us, but she's totally laughing at the writers. And I love her for it.
  22. I was impressed with Jackie in the sales meeting. This man is lucky to have kids who are willing to help the family business, can behave professionally, are interested in bringing new ideas and know what they're doing. It was a refreshing change from some of the nonsense in other eps. But... imo the suggestion upthread of doing mini hockey sticks is head and shoulders above the clunky "home-gating" merch they were pitching, including an over-priced wooden stool. Cracker Barrel by Marcus.
  23. I always take it with a grain of salt when someone shows up claiming to be a cast member or insider but doesn't really give any info or insight that couldn't be gleaned from just watching the show or reading other sites. Maybe I'm wrong. Call me jaded.
  24. She's a singer?!?!?! Ack. It's nice that she has a good singing voice, and therefore isn't torturing humanity with her speaking voice. Maybe she should have sung her way through PR. But so far as I'm concerned that cat abuser can still get back in her tugboat and stay there. I said STAY! I think tug captains do live on board for several days at a time, but whether that is safe for kids? No idea.
