  1. Dan is this year's Graham ... (and he does sorta remind me of Hugh Jackman).
  2. Well, I thought it was entirely strange that when Clare felt disappointed and left out of couplings (again), she decided to rip the others for not being like participants last year, who were looking for real relationships, while this year's people were not. I mean, what? Others are coupled up but they're not really looking for 'love' as she is ? This seemed actually a little crazy to me, making Ashley S. seem entirely normal. Why not just be unhappy (for good reasons -- Jared was unkind and sort of shocked me) without putting down the entire group for not being genuine the way last year's group was (which she had left in a huff when things weren't going well for her romantically ). People -will- respond to what was an attack on the rest of the group for not being there for 'love' compared to those in the previous season. The expressions on everyone when she gave her long speech about their failings was sort of amusing except that I couldn't believe she was belittling the relationships of at least 4 of the couples. This is normally called "externalizing" in that she was blaming others for her current state. It couldn't that something was missing with her or in the person she chose but that the whole group was bad and therefore it isn't something she feels she wants to continue. This was a slam of the group.
  3. I think that's unfair. If you judge everything one does by whether they 'sell' themselves for marriage to someone they want to marry, most of us will fit his category at one time or another in our lives. Out of 25 and being a much-hated interloper, he sold himself to 2nd place again. Which is 'better' than 23 other guys did. I think he's been enough of a shared joke for most people and a person some like to 'kick around' because he's not a hunk and how dare he try to 'compete' for someone when he is more or less a 'dweeb' etc. But what I'm saying is that at least he actually DOES a full-time (sales) job and has the discipline and wherewithall to do it while the other two are totally jobless (and the 'winner' is a sore winner who can't even be gracious in 'victory' (which I found really -bad- but I also hated the way Shawn treated Nick during the season, never letting him talk and constantly diminishing him in every way he could. I could never be with anyone who would act that way, though I had initially preferred Shawn until I saw this side of him. It also leaves the duo in a somewhat desperate position when offered money by The Bachelor PTB to do this or that. They'll do it, whatever's needed. As for Nick - getting emotional and somewhat tearful about a relationship with another person is not, for me, a sign of weakness.
  4. Nick is the only one out of the 3 who has a job. Shawn and Kaitlyn don't. I'm sure the unempathetic twosome is depending on show-related appearances to make up for that.
  5. I read a story online the other day that Kaitlyn has told people that she wanted Ben H. as F2 but that the producers pressured her to keep Nick because the (one-way) 'feud' with Shawn would be better TV. But whether she treated Nick badly at the ATFR because she didn't like that he wouldn't accept her proposal-time claim that she'd needed 'every second' because she felt some kind of love for him and/or because she couldn't be seen looking too friendly with him, with Shawn and the world watching, it reflects badly on her. If it was the 2nd reason, human-up and show some heart to someone who was obviously a supportive friend who was led on during the show.
  6. Well, it turns out that Kaitlyn picked up ONE fan or booster in recent weeks. This headline caught my eye (and I'm sure others have seen the reported tweets but I haven't seen that they've been mentioned it here yet) : 'Huh? Brady Toops Thinks Kaitlyn Bristowe Is The "Most Real" Bachelorette' http://realitytvmagazine.sheknows.com/2015/06/30/huh-brady-toops-thinks-kaitlyn-bristowe-is-the-most-real-bachelorette/ So I checked the links to see if they were making this up or misreading the tweets (to Kaitlyn) by Brady Toops, Britt's now-long-distance boyfriend or former beau (depending on the article), and I saw these on his social media feeds. On his Instagram, where he posted a photo of Kaitlyn and himself on the show: June 22 Brady Toops https://instagram.com/p/4QIAq-B1xq/ ===== "Tonight I'm rooting on @KaitlynBristowe.. anyone else tuning in to "The Bachelorette" on ABC? [This pic was from Night 1 when, for the fun of it, we pretended to dance like awkward middle schoolers cuz of my comment getting out of the limo.] I still obviously stand by my decision to leave, but Kaitlyn really is such a beautiful person! And c'mon guys, @brittkarolina is obviously amazing as well! No haters please.. " ===== To the uproar seen from some in the 200+ comments, Brady commented: ===== "bradytoops@belovedchild66 I guess you've never encountered the love, kindness & compassion of God. It changes how you look at people.. not counting their sins against them." ===== [ That does match the philosophy he presented DURING the show. So, this is consistent. ] On Twitter: 1. June 29 "I think Kaitlyn could be the most real bachelorette yet.. Props your way @kaitlynbristowe " https://twitter.com/bradytoops/status/615717977309102080 2. July 6 "Props to @kaitlynbristowe for being honest.. that had to be super hard." https://twitter.com/bradytoops/status/618221219301593089 The announcement of the long distance break between Britt and Brady was dated July 7. Maybe Britt's mother was correct that she was seeing a 'friendship' and the show was trying to make more of it.
  7. [Alison"] Granted, this is my first time watching any show in this franchise, but I think the change of format makes sense. Would you want to meet the loved ones of someone you were dating without having been intimate with them I think Alison meant something like "Would you want to meet the loved ones of someone you were dating WHEN very seriously trying to "decide" whether to marry him or another 'contender' without having been intimate with him?" At this point, I'd never commit to marriage or even give serious consideration to marriage without having been 'with' the person, as that is a crucial part of your everyday or everynight life and the source of your comfort and support (not to mention a bit of 'joy' :-) ). But, with the show's premise of 'considering FOUR bachelors for hometowns, normally, no, I would not have to sleep with any except the ones I was seriously trying to decide between. As I've said before, I actually might want to do that before deciding which two final ones get the fantasy suite date, IF I was crazy about both of them. I was active in the 70s when things were already much looser.
  8. We have NOT had footage of that on this season's show either. Kaitlyn said they did take their mics off. That means Chris Harrison gave the go ahead to find another way to capture any sounds that they could out of the next room He may be 'prim' and 'proper' in his shown guidance, but he is a producer with the taste of a 14 year old. Re no one earlier having had the CAMERAS on them before going to a room and closing the doors behind them, we DID see this -- and that was Chris Soules with Britt. Their 2-hour 'nap' time. They smiled as they closed the doors as the cameras filmed the doors closing. That was all left to the viewers. Chris Harrison had not yet devolved back into a stupid adolescent.
  9. And the first thing she did when told she'd be the bachelorette, after being told to take some time bo herself to adjust to her new reality, was to phone her mother, who was very supportive. (Probably not so much now.)
  10. You said it so well. It's more like 'virtual drama' -- everyone (especially The Unreal TheBachelor showrunners) amping up everything and not showing us anything else. 'Impending' ... is the word. Living on fear ... (which the showrunners know will have people tuning in even if they don 't like the main participants) though it's "like much ado about nothing". And it's working for them. Those who praise Unreal's breakdown of the fictional processes pushed apply it to everything except to anything Kaitlyn does or says (this is considered 'real') -- but they're all affected by the storylines favored. It'll be interesting to see what really went on or didn't, someday.
  11. I did like JJ's instinctive move of concern to try to comfort her when she started weeping out of guilt and stress over sending him home. It looked genuine to me. What an odd season. I actually suspect they did not have enough other drama to show and that's why we're getting all these mysterious non-sensical cuts and constant implications something dire is about to happen (which hardly does, mainly guilt and fear from anyone they can get to express this). I think that's why they used either boom mics or inside-the-other-room or at-the-door recorders to get sex noises (she said they had taken off their mics). Maybe it was all they could get to make the show 'interesting' to them. But I think that was really low of Chris Harrison and I've finally lost respect for HIM as a result. He has played the concerned, sympathetic host for so long (and yet seems to revere the awful Andi) but what he did there was tawdry. They didn't do this to bachelors who were sexing up the place during their seasons.
  12. Right, he's doing Britt's exclusive-group-rose logic, but at least he's not saying IN FRONT of Kaitlyn AND the others that he just does not want her to meet his family if she is still considering others. Nevertheless, he was so ANNOYing, going up to her room each time (walking in Fellini-like endless corriders) to demand he be treated as the Only one and to not hurt him by giving a group-rose to anyone else ! What was said: BOTH Shawn and Kaitlyn said in last night's show (but especially Shawn) that what she said was "I THINK you're the one" and later she said she had felt pressure from his need for assurance and said that much, although she said she'd sincerely -thought- so at the time. I felt she was right that if he "couldn't do this anymore" then he wasn't the one. I think there are some danger signals there in his intense need for constant, never-ending reassurance about being TheOne in an episode of, for God's sake, The Bachelorette.
  13. Ian more than deserved a bad joke. And you would have preferred not to have to make a 'lifetime' decision involving a few people within only a few weeks and some very brief time at best.
  14. Actually, if it's really a 'forever' type decision AND there are a few I like a lot, I'd likely want to know about how physical intimacy is with them before deciding even who goes onto the Fantasy Suite. Irregular, maybe, but few of us have several we're interested in at the same time and are pressed to make a very heavy decision. Contrary to what some of us thought at first, she has quite a few nice guys here to choose from.
  15. Tanner reminds me a little of Ben Affleck without the hostile sulking of Affleck. He has a serious face but also a nice sense of irony. I think he's in it for the camaraderie and travel (and we know he's the Bachelor Historian) so has no out-sized emotions to show.
  16. The guy's hair was all tousled, and his hair dark plus his face didn't even look like Shawn's to me -- cheeks plumper, and a darker more luxurious beard. I did mention this, but apparently Reality Steve 'confirmed' it was Shawn, but then who knows what games are being played ... I've liked Shawn on the show so sort of hope it's legit and that the Shawn-flirting photos later were just a ruse.
  17. He looks more like Jason (SB) than Jake does ! All Dillon needs is a crew cut and to lose all those natural facial expressions. And to bulk up a bit. He's actually a good, natural actor. Low key and fairly subtle. I'm enjoying Jake, now that he's growing a brain. He's very cute.
  18. This is what I read too -- that you can't upload a picture; it has to be taken right then and there and then it's sent and auto-deleted in whatever time frame (but, they say, not as soon as this one was deleted!). Another interesting thing is that if the person you sent it to did a screenshot of it, that info is recorded and sent you. I'm wondering if Shawn was instructed to go somewhere, act drunk and flirt with women, to confuse the masses after the Snapchat incident. But it's more likely they have an open relationship, although according to his show-chats he's into fidelity (or was). And if you're "old" I have 1.5 feet in the grave :-)
  19. Re Nick reminding me of JohnMcEnroe McEnroe was known for his tantrum-throwing, with similar hair, not that Nick's been throwing tantrums in this set of guys. In fact, here's a page about McEnroe and the title is about his 'appeal.' http://www.newsday.com/sports/columnists/john-jeansonne/the-appeal-of-john-mcenroe-then-and-now-1.2979757 with this lead picture Doesn't that look as if Nick posed for that picture? Very funny about all the competing for Ben ! Always a mystery why people go for certain types (or not).
  20. I quoted you exactly. I wasn't asking if he bothered you. What I was talking about was your sentence: You were talking about the only actions she RECOGNIZES in the CONTESTANTS ... So my question was, since she does 'recognize' Shawn in a positive way, would he really qualify for 'crude and graceless gestures' as the only aspect of contestants she would recognize. For that matter would Jared qualify as having the qualities that are the ONLY ones Kaitlyn would "recognize." [snip]
  21. He has always reminded me of John McEnroe...
  22. Every car but Ian ! Oh, also, Ryan B., Tony, and some other faces I didn't even recognize during their exits :-)
  23. Good catch. The 'rescuer' rather than the ignored despite his being obviously the superior one in the house. Chris didn't add her (and he had not known her in the past, knowing her only as one of two who were regularly drunk). Britt's meltdown occurred when he gave a group rose to Kaitlyn instead of to Britt. Britt said she was going to leave because she could not bring home to her family a man who did not consider her #1 and who was seriously considering a few other women. This meltdown with tears and some awful logic -- showing a non-understanding of the show's basic processes, -- seemed a self-centered reaction for a show where the entire premise is that 4 vyers for the heart get to do hometown sequences with the Bachelor. She did not understand this at all, and the drama of not being willing to bring him home to her family while he was actively considering other women and giving one of them a group Rose instead of to her was no doubt the one factor that made it difficult for the producers to outright make her the Bachelorette. T'his episode was short-shrifted by many.
  24. Good points re Kaitlyn's too-sober interactions with the guys when she sees a problem affecting her ability to figure out who would be good for the lifetime job.and sharing a bed. Ian had been my favorite until this episode and disappeared fully from view. What 'logic' he gave -- editing or not -- that she didnt gravitate toward him meant (for him) that something is wrong with her because the rest of the 'hot' world sees him for what he is, a 'gift.' He went to Princeton, and we're to rate anyone who did that much higher? That's a lot of guys to auto-rate high. That he regularly gets easy action from 'hot' gals is not something that should prove Kaitlyn ought to react the same way to him lest she be considered seriously flawed when on a show where she is the one being courted by several for a life-long gig and she wants to see what they are all like, including how they kiss. Her mistake (in my view) would be in finding that many interesting enough as a possibility that she'd do a test drive. In the meantime, he was serving as Kelsey's replacement in putting himself "up here" while the others in the house (he essentially said) are "down there." That he couldn't see how anyone would not immediately recognize that he is God's latest Gift to Earth just boggled my mind. This otherwise very attractive, intelligent-looking guy suddenly became a deluded joke of a suitor. No perspective.
  25. You've been clear that you were for Britt in a very big way and that Kaitlyn is sorta scum but that can lead to exaggeration of what she does. Would you deem Shawn as one with "crude and graceless gestures:" ?
