S01.E03: Everybody Needs a Switzerland
Neurochick replied to TexasGal's topic in The Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City
I'm not messing with anything from Reddit, especially since that's one user unfriendly site. And I don't care one bit about her marrying her step grandpa. I also think people use the word "creepy" too much these days, it's becoming one of those words like "bullying" or "abuse," describing anything someone doesn't agree with. I don't get what that has to do with sex trafficking; not everything is about sex trafficking. I think it was more about grandma not wanting her husband to marry someone else and all that $$ they were collecting going to another family. I have to disagree. Last New Years Eve a restaurant in Harlem had a 1920's party, everybody dressed in 1920's attire. I didn't think there was anything bad about that, every era has its share of racism/sexism. -
I'm sorry but racist policies should NEVER be defended and should ALWAYS be called out. There's good and there's evil, period. End of story. That said, I thought it was interesting to see Thatcher actually cooking in the beginning of the episode, she was cooking for her cabinet members? She came from an era where women cooked, where women unpacked their husband's suitcases and she didn't seem to be resentful of it at all. I know so many people today who are very proud to say they don't know how to cook. So there is that.

I don't see bullying as a "one off" but something that goes on and on and on. Someone should have sat Charles down and told him that the world is unfair, I mean he didn't do anything to achieve his position except be born. Also people will ALWAYS defer to a beautiful, young woman, not Diana's fault that she was attractive and people wanted to see her.

I thought this episode was sad. Charles drove Diana crazy. First Charles was upset when Diana flopped at the press conference in Australia. Then they had an honest conversation, their first. They realized they were a married couple, and their events went smoothly, until Diana started to get more attention. Charles got jealous, he turned cold and Diana turned to her addiction. The Queen should have sat both of them down; told them they were a married couple and a united front. When she has a success it's good for all of them. But everybody's ego got in the way. It's like being hired to do a job; first the boss chastises you for not doing a good enough job; then when you do a great job, he gets pissed because you're better than everybody else. WTF!!!

Some societal changes suck. I think too many people think bullying is when someone does something not nice. Newsflash, the world often isn't a warm cuddly place. Angelina sucks because what they said didn't bother HER at all. The reason she got upset was because they bothered her husband. So because they bothered him, they bothered her too. Holy co-dependent Batman!

S02.E04: Chapter Twelve - The Siege

I loved this episode. Action packed. Reminds me of how I felt when I saw "A New Hope" when it first came out. -
Interesting that no one got upset that Ari's dad had to leave to go to work. Why get upset when Bini had to go to work? Ari's mom screams CO-DEPENDENT. If she's not careful she'll be taking care of Avi, plus future children that Ari might have with different foreign and "exotic" men.

To me this episode showed what a horrible and ignorant person Thatcher was. That speech to the Queen...If someone said that nonsense to me, I'd suggest they go back to school. Not everybody has the same abilities; not everyone can or should own their own business. Just because someone isn't in the 1% doesn't mean they should starve. Why should he have left? He had every right to be there. And the "boyfriend" could have walked away too.

The punch line of the joke: You didn't come here to hunt, did you? Was said many times on the show The Wire. But no one ever heard the beginning of the joke.

Just because Elizabeth had a good relationship with her parents doesn't mean her parents were hands on. She was probably turned over to nannies as well.

I don't get the hate for Deja or Malik. I love seeing young black people on my TV, the more the merrier. 😀

I'm not surprised either. Who in their right mind would want to be around her? Probably takes days to get all that shit off her face. 👽 -
One more thing. I never knew Angelina was such a fan favorite. People used to crack on her, say how tacky she was, having her clothes in a black garbage bag. When did she become this saint that everybody decided to rally around. I wonder how much Angelina's wedding cost and how much money MTV put up. And Mike, Angelina was never part of the "family." She left after the first episode and is only on the show because they couldn't get Sammi to come back. I laughed at Angelina screaming, "Get the camera out of my face." Really sis? If she didn't want to be on camera, she shouldn't have agreed to come back on the show. If you give a dance, you got to pay the band. If you want to be on reality TV, you're going to get embarrassed.
-
Angelina needs to shut her face. She's lucky they even asked her to come back. She left after one episode, I think because she thought she was better than the show, I guess that's why she put her clothes in a trash bag. The only reason Angelina was on this show was because Sammi didn't come back and Deena was pregnant, they needed another girl so it was her. Angelina has probably been kicking herself all the years the show was a hit and she missed out on it. She should be happy for the attention, isn't that why she came back in the first place? I'm sure that was the reason. As for their money, maybe they all invested well. You never know how wealthy anybody really is until they die.

S01.E03: Everybody Needs a Switzerland

Here is my take on Jen. When I was in college in the Stone Age, I knew a woman EXACTLY like Jen, from her overly made up face, too high heels and always overdressed. She was Indigenous South American, neither black nor white, I’ll call her “L”. The white American girls didn’t like her and the South American girls didn’t like her because most of them were European descent. So out of necessity, she started hanging around with us, the black girls, and all was well UNTIL she liked a guy that another black girl liked. The guy chose her, which was cool with me because I didn’t think too much of them, and where I went to school it was like five guys to every girl, especially if you were a black girl. Many of the black girls turned against her and it got ugly, it was like, "you only started hanging out with us to take OUR men, when the white guys didn't even want to be bothered with you." It turned into this colorism issue where she started hanging around only with myself, and some other light skin girls. She then started calling the darker black girls “dots.” That’s when the clothes and make up and heels began. It almost seemed like a look at ME, I can look better than ANY OF YOU, to the black girls. And Jen’s dress wasn’t from the 1920’s, the hourglass gown was more from the 1890’s IMO. So that’s my take on Jen; to me she's a phony and she probably hates Mary because SHE, JEN wanted to be the only WOC on this franchise, and she's not, so boo hoo sis. -

This episode is up on the Bravo website. Ugh can Jen look any more plastic? -
The sneak peek it up and the Americans are insufferable as usual. Jenny - ugh Brittany - ugh Ari's mom - codependent Deavan's mom - the judgement just oozes out of her bleached blonde head. Not everybody has to live in gigantic mcmansions to be happy. They need to realize that they/their kids are NOT In the USA, so fucking deal or leave. Everybody looks bad in HD, except Brittany's friend Angela. BTW Brittany looks better without all that crap covering her face, but it still doesn't make up for her personality, or lack of it.

I don't think Diana would have minded if she knew beforehand that she was supposed to do a job. For me, there isn't enough money in the world, that I would have done that at her age. Gowns, jewels, houses, can't take any of those things with you.

I didn't know poor people weren't allowed to smoke, good to know. Actually he was in the pub first and her new "man" started the fight. Actually once again the new "man" was the one who started the fight. He left a lot to be desired as well. You're so right about that. I used to tell the foreign students who had to go to the social security office to be the FIRST one on line. People in government offices are nicer in the morning because they haven't been harassed by assholes during the day. A good article about why poor people seem to make bad decisions.

I really don't believe any person is truly self made. There's always some type of help, if not from parents then other family members, or a teacher, or a member of the clergy. Maybe not financial help but certainly emotional help. Thatcher had everything ass backward. She thought her mother was weak for wanting to be a housewife. Sometimes I think the truly strong person is the one who gets off the hamster wheel, because even if you win the rat race, you're still a rat.
-
Yes, but you got married, really married, you probably knew your husband, you didn't have to go to "Princess School". Diana wasn't a wife; she was hired to do a job, she was a broodmare. The problem was that she didn't know it. She thought she and Charles would be a proper man and wife and that wasn't the case. Everything you do has a price.

I can't take Jen and her frog face seriously. She's garbage, I hate her. I hate that she goes after the one black woman on this show, when I know damn well that if SHE were black, her husband wouldn't have looked at her twice. Believe me, I went to school with trash like Jen, I know their game. -

I like Wendy's dress, and Monique's too. I like Gizelle's dress. Robyn is wearing the wrong yellow and looks like she's wearing a sheet. -
A lot of black kids fail in school because no one really believes in them or gives them a chance. Some teachers are like, "yeah, you'll be in jail in a few years, why bother?" Maybe that's why Malik and Deja are doing well, because someone gave a fuck about them.
