  1. I had the same thought. Can't imagine that there's any reciprocity or other kind of cross-department recognition between the Fish Police and the Staties for Disability, forget about the fundamental liability of letting her participate in a raid in which she has no official involvement, to wit: Speaking of Jackie getting shot, how was Osito able to wing her when she already had the drop on him? He had to go into his pants pocket and pull out his gun, she fired first, and he still got off two shots. Center mass, Baby Girl - he had plenty of that. And what did Ray think he was going to accomplish by taunting Frankie - Frankie not only pwned him with the spring rain comment, but Ray got a triple karmic smack down with Renee setting him up, Frankie getting released, and Ray getting his cocky, bear-poking self suspended. I'll tune in to Season 2 to continue hate watching (and snarking), unless I forget to. I'm having fun with this one, but it's not Appointment TV by any means.
  2. I assumed that he offed himself. I interpreted Osito disappearing Kizzle as Osito choosing to defy Frankie, which was compounded by not only letting Junior live, but helping him get away and Osito possibly getting himself gone as well. It seemed pretty clear that Osito had enough of Frankie's shit when they were talking on the phone. It would have been a good plot misdirect if Osito had hot shot Junior, but it would have been risky in a public restroom and I don't think he'd have gone to the trouble of setting Junior up first - buying the ticket, giving him a couple grand in seed money, etc. It would have been simpler to just kill him after he killed Kizzle. But then he'd have had to dig the grave(s) and get rid of the heads and hands by himself.
  3. Latest on Season 5, Part 2 return: https://www.newsweek.com/billions-season-5-part-2-release-date-midseason-air-date-2021-showtime-1510458
  4. That actually occurred to me at one point. Even Chuck knows he wouldn't be teaching there anymore if he tried that. I'm not sure he'd really even be able to get away with having indentured servants students go after a sitting cabinet member. We all knew he'd end up going back to the organ monger, didn't we? It seems unlikely to me that out of all the family, in-laws, and Chuck's staff, someone wouldn't have been a match by now. But even if there was, the further out of the family circle the match is, the less likely they'd want to give up a kidney. I'm not an illegal El Salvadoran girl (what??), but I'd need Axe's gross annual earnings to even consider it. Agreed. When I was watching the dinner scene with Wags, Tanner, Wendy and Axe, I literally thought, we've turned a corner. Cringe worthy, grade school-level pettiness (Wendy) and jealousy (Axe). And you know the Wags-wants-a-do-over-kid storyline is going to end well. Just silly. I did like the way Axe alpha-dogged Tanner: "Your 'work' isn't ready to be shown to me? Watch this, Sherwin WIlliams - you're showing it to everyone."
  5. If this is the scene you're thinking of, it's a Land-Rover Defender 90. Around $50k, IIRC. Pretty modest, all things considered.
  6. This is not a good show. As in, it's bad. No redeeming qualities. As in, it sucks. Don't care about the characters or the plot (anymore). It reminds me of some of the crap shows that I gave up on, e.g., The Deuce, and True Detective (Season 2). Ah, well....can't all be winners. Moving ahead to Phase 2: Hate Watching, soon to be followed by I'm-outa-here-unless-I-get-OCD-about-finishing-it, e.g., High Maintenance and I'm Dying Up Here.
  7. And speaking of ripping off movies to which this show can't hold a candle, hello..... If Senior would have kicked it, I'd have filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of Francis Ford Coppola. I know, it was an homage, not lazy writing...right... I hope they aren't going to go down a path with Winston and Gal Godot's quirky sister. I have even less interest in that than I have in Axe's f'd up childhood. I guess we're supposed to be getting insight into what makes him tick, but I just don't care. Again...Spyros gonna Spryros....Oy....
  8. Neil Young songs two weeks in a row. Does he own part of Showtime like he does Lionel Trains? Wow, Wendy Malick works a lot. Good for her. Speaking of which, that story about the ring smuggled out of Germany sewn into the lining of her father's coat reminded me of:
  9. Random thoughts: Wags should have gone to The Asshole Whisperer with his patriarchal issues. She's so effortlessly solving everyone else's problems. Prince (whose name is becoming disturbingly descriptive) increasingly seems too good to be true. Axe's true colors came out in the last scene. Nothing new there. Taylor wearing a man's suit to the second meeting after Mr. Keto referred them as a lady. Sacrilege though it may be, I think I like k.d. lang's version of After the Gold Rush better than Neil Young's. That is all.
  10. As soon as he started getting wound up, I thought, "Didn't I hear this 30 years ago?" Then I thought, "Man, I'm old..." The gesture lost its power though, because they waited until Wendy made her point about conviction vs. human nature before doing it. Taking it after the fact was like, "I'll show you that you're wrong, even though you're really right". Lots of truth in everyone's posts. My only contribution is, of course in the end Aunt Baby brought everyone together. Because no matter how much of a hard ass you are, no one can resist an adorable little slice of Boo Boo Angel Cake. Or, apparently, Chef Anthony's pizza.
  11. S4, Ep6 - they really did a deep dive on Reitman's lip. They've mentioned it in earlier seasons (well, at least once that I remember), but it was almost a subplot this time. Good for her - personally, I have a hard time looking away from it when she's on camera.
  12. In case anyone's interested... To paraphrase a quote, "Of all the strip clubs in all the towns in all the world...." Wags walks into that one??
  13. Agreed. I checked twice to see how much time was left. My Bonnie is Spyros. The plot wasn't predictable, but elements of it were...knew Kev was going to turn around and keep drinking as soon as he said it was gross (btw, okay, Chuck was off the grid during the aftermath, but maybe "Wend" should have been keeping an eye on her son during the reception). Knew Prince was going to be trouble as soon as he strode into the photo shoot. Knew the wrestler was a set up as soon as we heard her yelling. Knew the box Axe was carrying had the Churchill books in it (which incidentally were in amazing condition considering they were published over 70 years ago). Meh, 80% of why I watch is for the wealth porn (same with Succession). Plus I've liked Giamatti since Sideways (although he's been chewing the scenery for the last few seasons), and I like Wags. He reminds me of Rip Torn, who, bless his troubled soul, could do no wrong.
  14. I think it meant that (after we saw the classic "boy loses girl" trope that exists in every love story played out earlier in the episode) Emma decided that, at least for now, she was okay with them continuing to carry on the way they are, because her feelings for him are strong enough that she's willing to try to work with him through his issues (aka "boy gets girl back") so they can get to the next level. It's up to the viewer to decide whether that will be eventually happen, but given that we see the other major characters' lives settled, and Emma has unknowingly but literally saved Tony's life, I choose to think that the show is telling us that Tony will eventually get to the point that he doesn't feel like a serious relationship would be cheating on Lisa, and he and Emma live happily ever after. Unless there's a third season, in which case all bets are off. Seriously, though...as much as I enjoyed these two seasons, I hope this is it. I think Tony's story was told, and told well. I'd hate to see us get into Godfather Part III territory.
  15. I'm inclined to agree. It seems like more of a party bus kind of thing. I've taken a lot of cars in some pretty happenin' cities, including LA. The best I've ever seen was free water and a cardboard box with candy, mints, gum, tissues, etc. and a nice sign saying "Help Yourself'. "Fuck a duck and see what hatches." My father never said anything beyond "Shitfar". God knows where I picked up the rest. I liked this season. Just discovering "Martha" and Tom Waits made it well worthwhile.
  16. I had exactly the same response to "Can You Hear Me" (Bowie) at the end of episode 4. All the music this season is so spot on. They must be paying a ton in royalties - these are big name artists. Poor Tony. Although that revue was so bad he was probably glad on some level to have an excuse to leave. Looking forward to and yet dreading episode 6...
  17. This works for me. It also explains the old lady on the bench with Duke. Speaking of Duke, I haven't heard "Shit fire" since I was a kid and my late father would say (actually, yell) it. Of course, being raised in Tennessee, he pronounced it "Shitfar". Even though it was frequently directed at me in anger, enough time has gone by that it kind of made me nostalgic...and it sounded weird coming from her. I once wrote "Have a nice life" in the memo line of a check that I sent to someone after we broke up because I knew she'd see it when she endorsed it. My take was that Sam similarly created that entity just to bust Xander's chops. I suppose it could have been a fake check, but she seemed pretty sincere about wanting that part of their relationship to be over and it isn't difficult to create and fund an LLC, especially if she took out a loan. That said, I don't know why Xander couldn't deposit it in the ATM unless he wanted to pull out a lot of money. I've deposited checks in the tens of thousands in my banks ATM. I didn't have use of all the funds immediately, but the checks went through.
  18. I think that this season the therapist is the comic relief to Tony's sadness. He's not doing Matt a lot of good, and he's way too OTT to address Tony's problems. Plus Tony has his visits with his friend at the cemetery who's helping him talk through his feelings, if not heal. Speaking of OTT, "The man who is tired of the anus is tired of life." Words to live by, Brian...
  19. The writing was slightly tone deaf this season - I remember there was a joke about Casey Anthony in one episode that was really insensitive, IMO. It was an okay finale to an okay reboot. I had fun watching (and snarking) this time around, but I'm not going to miss it.
  20. Pretty much anything by the Carpenters is perfect. Speaking of music (and Epsiode 2), is it possible to hear Por Una Cabeza without thinking of the tango scene in Scent of a Woman? Oh, just me? Alrighty, then.... Before this, I didn't know much about Ricky other than the Golden Globes and some clips from his talk show. His acting is impressive. He could be in the Am Dram Society. Staying resolute...one episode per day....
  21. I was all settled in to binge when I realized there were only six eps, so I'm going to pace myself. Which means I'll finish in a week instead of a day. I really enjoyed the first season and the first episode of Season 2. Got the sting-y eyes at the end when Tony was toasting the sofa where Lisa had been. Actually, the whole notion of him keeping her alive by watching her on video brings on the feels for me, although it probably isn't going to help him to move forward.
  22. I think it's up to the viewer to decide. Clues, however: she whispered it because she didn't want to embarrass him, and the look on his face afterwards. It wasn't "Thanks for coming, love you." I'm pretty sure of that. In case anyone's interested...
  23. Spoiler Alerts, but little to nothing that a serious fan doesn't already know...
  24. Truth. That being said, I'm kinda cringe-watching at this point; afraid of exactly where it's going to go and not really enjoying it. To wit: I wonder if The Guy would still be taking FOMO to that vet if he knew the story of the kitten and the tuba. I'm not going to miss this show.
  25. Last ep of this season airs 4/30/20; two more after this one (don't be killing it off so soon, all my shows are over or about to be. God forbid I should have to read a book 😱). This.
