  1. In addition to being a device to jolt the viewer, she was quoting what Carlo said when they arrested him. IIRC, Michael either asked whether they were seeking bail or if he was a flight risk and instead of answering with an explanation, she chose to quote Carlo to make her point.
  2. They could do a lot worse (and probably will). SFU had one of the most satisfying finales ever. So did Veep and Newhart, although in entirely different ways.
  3. My interpretation was exactly this. Django's now a man-eater. Once they get a taste for Human, they never go back to Purina. Seriously though, I'm not sure that was such a dramatic cliff hanger scene to end on. It wouldn't be that difficult to grab something and wipe up the mess, even if there were guests. No one's going to be inspecting canine vomit for evidence. Random thoughts: I'm no more tech savvy than I need to be, but would Michael's phone still be working after being soaked in a clothes shower? It literally had water streaming off of it when he looked at the screen, then he put it back in his water-logged pocket. Trevor got to take a ride on his boat after all. I was amused that Jimmy's guy wouldn't help Michael out with the body disposal effort any more than absolutely necessary; it wasn't his problem. Adam continues to irritate me, cross examining Michael on the "offal". I guess it was to build up the suspense for the big closing scene.
  4. Nope. That's pretty much the only reason I'm watching. I think that part's fun, and the show overall is harmless. Mindless Entertainment isn't without value. This. I was so surprised when I watched the first ep that I went down a rabbit hole trying to find out whether it was illness, plastic surgery, anorexia, or some combination of the three. Didn't find anything definitive, but I think something's happened. Edited to add: Anyone else think Cheyenne Jackson is looking very Joel McHale-ish? No? Just me? Alllllriighty, then...
  5. For realsies...there's ducks in that lake. Hungry ducks. Seriously though...Brown and Hartley are both in phenomenal shape, Brown maybe overly so in relation to his character. I don't know if it's coincidence or contractually obligated, but it did seem a bit exploitative. "Butt shot!", as my GF likes to exclaim when these kinds of scenes pop up.
  6. Let's see... Boy cute-meets girl...check Romeo and Juliet forbidden love ensues...check Boy loses girl...check Boy gets girl back...check Girl checks out a la "Love Story"...check Randall finds redemption, peace, and happiness in the lake. Next to the house that he owns free and clear. Because he doesn't have enough money already. Between this and Kevin running with "Timberlake and Jessica", poor Kate's getting the short end of the stick.
  7. She's actually 29. I Wiki'd her because she had the same problem in the only other thing I've seen her in, which was The Mick (I know...sometimes I eat junk food, too). Annnyway...she also played a high school kid in that, and then she was about 24. Fun fact; apparently she was in Gossip Girl as well, which I've never watched but some of you may remember her from. I guess Adam was supposed to be the moral compass, but to me he seemed ungrateful for everything his dad was doing to save his whiny ass. Now it appears that he's over his trauma, convictions, and fears, all due to an ever growing (although badly informed) infatuation. In general though, I cut the show a lot of slack because I've liked Cranston since BB. He's nibbling the scenery a bit here, but he's hit it out of the park in everything else I've seen him in since then.
  8. Pretty much every bit of this, although I can take or leave V or for that matter, the entire show. At this point I'm basically watching due to inertia. I'm perplexed about the mask protocols being shown. Is wearing them as chin diapers, one person wearing and one not, wearing sometimes outdoors and sometimes not, and just general inconsistency supposed to reflect how they're being worn IRL? Regardless, it's taking me out of the moment. It must have been my senior year of HS when rumors started swirling about one of my female classmates and our English teacher. They got married after we graduated (I doubt it lasted, given the circumstances), and I often think about that when I see these plotlines or read about a real life student/teacher situation. Don't know how Tam-Tam's ex is still getting away with it in this day and age.
  9. I'm having a hard time with a lot of this season so far. Renters don't generally fix up houses. Take it from someone who has rental properties. Nor would a tenant deface their rental - eventually they're going to move out and then they'll be responsible for all damages. Edibles are much more potent than "smokables". Had Kermit and the other guy eaten that many brownies, they wouldn't be in denial; they'd more likely be dead. There are probably cops who are as bad as Carl's partner (in fact, I used to date a girl who had formerly dated a cop who claimed that they used to have sex in his cruiser while he was on duty), but I can't believe this guy would have gotten away with this degree of negligence for 15 years. I don't like the Ian and MIckey storyline and never have. It doesn't seem realistic that these two would have ever been attracted to each other, but the same could be said for Lip and Debbie and their SO's as well. FTR, I think Gay Jesus's next cause is going to be getting everyone at Costco/Sam's paid fairly. I thought last season was the series "finally" and I hope this one truly is. The writing is just getting OTT silly. In other news, Debbie was looking prit-tay, prit-tay, good in those shorts when she was hanging the party decorations. And as always, wife's kid's education decisions notwithstanding, WIlliam H. Macy can do no wrong. He's just working with the material they're giving him.
  10. I did too, and couldn't help but contrast their if-you-can't-beat-em-join-em attitude with my own misspent youth, during which any girl I brought home after I moved out of my parents' house slept in my old bed while I slept on the living room sofa. Including one that I was living with. My father was the original "My house, my rules" guy. I first heard the "uh" suffix when a GF's daughter was arguing with her. "Mom-uh!!" I thought it was unique to her and kind of got a kick out of it. Thanks to everyone who answered how they wrote Angela off the show. I've been wondering where she is every time Ali Wong's character shows up. I'll take Dean Pelton in her place every time, however. Rash has been awesome ever since he did this at the Oscars: Still not loving the new Ana Kat, but also not as enamored of the show in general this season...
  11. Likewise. Reminds me of Larry Hagman in the Dallas reboot: I figure they're supposed to be symbolic of devil horns. Maybe a foreshadowing of Sutherland's character's true self...
  12. Ana Kat was my favorite character. It amused me how the pronunciation of her name changed depending who said it. Sometimes it was ANAkat and sometimes it was anaKAT. She was an adorably cute little weirdo and I'm not sure that I'm going to warm up the new actor. Fun fact: this isn't the first time they've changed out actors - the older daughter was played by a different actor in the pilot (she might be suffering from Brian Dunkelman Syndrome these days, although I doubt it was her decision to leave). I'm glad they aren't doing Very Special COVID Episodes. There's enough of that happening in other shows and too many people living it in real life - sometimes I want my EscapisMTV. Not sure what the point is of Cooper moving in. I guess the writers will get some mileage out of it, but for our purposes he may as well have been living with them all along. I always got a kick out of him calling Katy, Mom. I assumed the You Tube kid would have been gone this season - I don't know how much more they can do with his character. One of the classic indicators of a show jumping the shark is when they introduce new characters. No new characters this season, but we have a new actor and the repositioning of a character. I'm going to go ahead and say that the show's launched and is airborne, but hasn't quite reached the apex of the leap. Yet.
  13. 10/14/20 episode: Was that Lou in the host's lap during the Lifetime Acting bit? I hope so. They only went off the air 5-ish years ago, and with his white muzzle, he looked like he might be the right age. LouOOOOOOO!!!
  14. Well, she doesn't appear to have licked any envelopes...
  15. 9/23/20 Ep - As a cat daddy myself, I hope the cat mommy on American Ninja Warrior did well, if not win. But no way was that kitty actually watching her. Nice to see Willie's still kickin'. Long may he wave. I blew past the Love Island/baby bird feeding clip so quick my computer froze up. I knew what that was about. "Hollywood legend" Drew Barrymore? Okay....sure, why not. That is all.
  16. Re: 8/19/20 ep - Paul Giamatti is doing Volkswagen commercials now? Yikes... That is literally the only thing worth commenting on. At least the host and crew are working, so good for them.
  17. I don't know what Ray's problem is with his father, but it must be significant. I think it was just the two guys. I've changed my earlier position - the dog being killed now bothers more than any other death so far (other than the girl in the 20-year old case). Thanks for the explanation of why the MC guys went after him. I knew it was a double cross, but I didn't put that together; I was thinking the word had gotten out and it was a revenge thing. I don't know how Ray was able to finish the fight, let alone win it, with one eye. His depth perception had to have been shot. In addition to the lead poisoning comment, the back-and-forth between Ray and Dave about whether to kill the new president and how to retrieve the money had a bit of humor.
  18. I was surprised they didn't struggle more. And that there hands were tied in front of them - anyone who's ever seen a movie or TV show knows to tie the hands behind the back. They really were a passive bunch - hands in front is virtually useless in terms of subduing someone. But he did. He gossiped about it, which is how Gary got wind of it. I thought the same thing, though. Pidgy found out about it while buying drugs, i.e., illegally, but he could have at least called the coppers with an anonymous tip. That's a valid observation, although I thought he took her to get her out of the way so he could focus on finding Maddy, and carried her because he was in a hurry to drop her off.
  19. I think the father's surprise was the show's way of telling us that Ray was estranged from him. This show reminds me more and more of Ray Donovan - handicapped brother, divorced antihero living on the wrong side of the law, daughter, estranged father.... I think Ray changed his mind because of Freddy's story, and the fact that Freddy gets (and provides) him work. I didn't know the story about Building 7 myself. I'll be heading down the rabbit hole... He probably knew there'd be others, but I doubt he was expecting an alarm system in the woods. I felt sorry for the pupper - he was just doing his job. Hopefully it was a minor wound. Britt seemed surprised by the ending. I think it was at that moment. Apparently estranged from both sons. It seemed to me that he couldn't get a good shot (Vinnie was moving pretty quickly when he got out of the car), then he was concerned about getting one of the parents when he was hugging them. Had he been able, I'm sure he'd have just shot Vinnie and high-tailed it out of there. He was only getting paid for that one.
  20. Kim said that he had liver cancer - my guess it that he's been suppressing or living in denial, and the diagnosis woke him up. Ray's "smaht" enough to wipe down a scene, and to make sure that there are no witnesses (i.e., Miller). Plus, having a daughter himself, I knew that Miller's fate was sealed as soon as he confessed.
  21. Just finished Season 1. Re: episode 6: That's all.
  22. I always watch everything with captions. FF through commercials or mute them if I can't, also. Just finished the first one on Hulu. I'm probably going to stick, but I wasn't crazy about him leaving his daughter by herself in the car while he went after the punks. The fact that he locked it kind of made it worse, then he took even longer getting back to her when he was getting the paramedic's phone number. Speaking of which, I was expecting her to be responding to a call that someone had been mugged, the someone being the nuts kickee. Don't know about Oz in 2018 but in today's USA Ray would've had some 'splainin' to do to the police who would've been babysitting his daughter, having been notified by well-intentioned busy bodies...
  23. So (assuming anyone else in the world is watching this dumpster fire), who caught the cutaways to Joel in the To Tell The Truth clip on the 8/5/20 episode? Kinda meta, but not acknowledged - you'd think the writers could have come up with something humorous. Then again, based on what I've seen in this season, probably not. At least TPTB are making the crew chuckle so the host isn't playing to total silence.
  24. Thanks for this tip - I just went there and ordered a paperback version of a different book that I've been waffling over for my Kindle, for a couple bucks less than Amazon was offering for it in the same condition. BookBub is worth checking out as well. I was going to watch Snapped but passed after I read about the inaccuracies that others have mentioned here - for some reason I thought Snapped could be relied on to get its facts straight, so that was annoying. Being already somewhat familiar with the story, I'm satisfied enough with DJ's version. Slater was surprisingly (to me) good in this - he seemed like a lightweight with the obvious Jack Nicholson "homage" way back in Heathers, and nothing of his work has really caught my attention enough to change my mind since then. I've liked Peet in everything I've seen her in, so no surprise there. Based on this installment, I'll be keeping an eye open for the next Dirty John subject.
  25. I read somewhere that Fuller says that no one's given up on a Season 4. and that a love story between Will and Hannibal might be on the table. Having just watched Season 3, Ep 10, I have to say that the homoerotic undertones have never been stronger. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Came into this having read all the books and with the movies as my baseline. Had to get through 2 or 3 eps before it started working for me. I'll probably go back and watch them all again when I finish Season 3; at this point I'm certain that there was a lot that I missed.
