I don't want it cancelled just because I don't like it. I know a lot of other people like it. I just personally need to stop watching because it makes me so damn mad.

You're so sweet. Regarding the thing with my brother, his friends will post disgusting pictures and "jokes" about transgender people, Caitlynn Jenner in particular, and they'll tag my brother in their posts. I'll go on and say shame on you and tell my brother if he comments on it, I'll disown him. He and his friends are all "macho" truck drivers. They all like "manly" things. I have asked them if they liked boy things when they were young, I ask if they loved playing with the boys, felt most comfortable doing boy things, felt most comfortable in boy clothes. I ask them if they felt like they were 100% boy when they were young. They always respond that of course they did. Then I say imagine feeling all of those things but every time they looked in the mirror, they saw a frilly girl with ribbons and pig tails wearing a dress. Imagine that you KNEW you were all boy but everybody is telling you that you're a girl and you need to look and act like a girl. You know with everything you have that you're a boy but everybody tell you that you're wrong, you are not a boy. I ask them how that would make them feel about themselves.* I don't know if I ever get through to anybody. I don't even know if that's the right thing to say to them, but it feels right to me. As for my being an ally, thank you, I actually feel like one! When my kids were young transgender people weren't as public as they are now. I taught my kids about gay people, how they are just like anybody else they just happen to love somebody of their same sex. They knew to never harass, judge or make fun of gay people, handicapped people etc. I have 2 grandkids now, I want to be prepared to help them understand that just like gay people, transgender people are just like us, they just happened to be born into the wrong body. Edited to add: *Depending on the person and the situation I will add to my speech...Imagine one day you were finally able to talk your parents into letting you cut your hair and wear some "boy" clothes. You are so happy that your outside is starting to look like how you feel on the inside. Then all of a sudden, none of your friends want to be around you anymore and the few that do aren't able to associate with you because their parents don't won't let them. The same parents who used to love you, treat you like you were their own and were happy you were their kid's friend. People start making fun of you, harassing you and calling you a freak. Kids as well as adults will point and stare at you wondering exactly "what" you are. All of this happens simply because you are finally feeling free enough to be who you really are. Like I said, I don't know if I've ever gotten through to anybody and I don't know if I'm saying all of the wrong things but I feel like it's the right thing to say.

No, I haven't seen it. Thanks for the recommendation. I just want to be more educated about the topic. I don't want to ever be offensive to anybody because of my ignorance. I would also like to educate people like my bigoted brother and his friends. My brother lives across the country and our main communication is through Facebook. I told him if he and his idiot friends keep posting offensive stuff, I'm deleting him. I appreciate everybody being so patient and answering all of my questions. I'm going to go find "Growing Up Trans". Thanks again.

KillerTofu, I think that's a great analogy. I don't think it over simplifies, it is simple enough to understand but explains it in a perfect way. I'm going to steal that if you don't mind. I have my own little speech I give when people, like my brother (I'm ashamed to say) make sickening jokes and post transphobic pictures on social media.

I was yelling at my TV during her "I'm so stressed, my mom is so mean" speech but I was using much stronger words than twat. Kail is such an ass. What a buzzkill. When Javi went to kiss her and she said he needs to apologize does she ever stop to think that she's making the other people in the room uncomfortable? Poor Corey just looks beaten down. He's so concerned for his girls and it shows. Leah and her crazy pupils piss me off. I really need to stop watching this shit. I hate everybody except Corey and his family, Chelsea and her family and sometimes Barbara. Every other person and every other scene infuriates me for one reason or the other. I don't know why I continue to torture myself this way.

Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"
Maharincess replied to Betweenyouandme's topic in Everything Else
That cracked me up. You know what's also not cute? Me in nothing but underwear and slippers shuffling around the house with my walker. I'm sure it's quite a sight. It gets so hot in my house that once my front door closes my clothes are gone. There are so many huge spiders that get into the house that at night, I wear my booty slippers. I refuse to walk around barefoot at night. All of these work stories make me so happy that when I was able to work, I only worked with dogs. I saw the dog's parents at pick up and drop off and other than that, it was me and the doggies. I loved hanging out and having lunch with them. I agree about people posting about deceased loved ones on Facebook. You shouldn't feel bad for not doing it. I never do. Bilgistic, another way that Facebook is like high school are the postings like this...."Some people need to learn that the world doesn't revolve around them. I'm going to be deleting people". Or some crap like that. I barely go on my FB and my few friends wouldn't post stuff like that but I've seen them many times. The only reason to post something like that is to cause drama. -
Thanks. I missed that somehow.

What do you think about Caitlynn Jenner? I've read so many different opinions about her. I think she's done good things for the transgender community but I've heard many opposite opinions. I think getting it out there is a good thing. She's a well known person and it's got people talking about transgender people and has opened the subject to people who normally wouldn't talk about it. Maybe she and Jazz can help people realize that they're people, just like the rest of us.
-
Thank you for your explanations and for being so patient with me. I have a question. Is it transgendER person or transgenderED person? I've been reading and researching this topic all day.
-
I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around that to be honest. Isn't that the same as saying that a straight woman who doesn't want to date a gay woman is homophobic? I consider Jazz to be a "real" girl. In her mind, heart and soul, she's a girl and I respect and honor that. I'm saying that teenage boys and many men won't want to date a woman who still has a male appendage. I'm just having a hard time calling them transphobic because they prefer a woman without that appendage. I have been debating posting this. I truly don't want to offend anybody. I'm enjoying learning more about transgendered people. Because that's what they are...just people like the rest of us. There's not a damn thing weird or freaky about them. Thank you Human for educating me.

I hold no judgement against anybody, I've always been a live and let live person. I hope there comes a day when things like Jazz being called a freak by those boys doesn't happen anymore. I love how her mama came up out of her chair when those boys walked by. Why does somebody care what somebody else does or how somebody else identifies themselves? It disgusted me seeing those boys call her a freak. She's not hurting anybody! She's just living her life as she feels it should be. She should be applauded not tormented. I hope her life is a happy one. She's a spunky girl so I think shell be just fine. She seems like a smart girl, she didn't speak like most 14 year old girls and that was refreshing.
-
I wonder about the long term physical effects of suppressing her puberty and starting her on hormones so young. Have there been any studies done on this? Is this going to effect her physically 20 or 30 years down the road? I truly hope this question isn't offensive. That's just what was going through my mind when the Dr. said she's showing no signs of male puberty. I just hope she won't have issues down the road. She's a beautiful girl. She's lucky to have the supportive family she has, I love that the grandparents did research on transgender people so they wouldn't do the wrong thing.

Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"
Maharincess replied to Betweenyouandme's topic in Everything Else
Ah, ok. I got ya now backformore. I'm almost 50 now but I was 43 when I became a grandma. I actually like being a younger grandma. I have so much fun with the kids and before my accident I had the energy to run around and chase them and play. We have a blast together. Their other grandma is in her late 60s and she isn't much fun for them. I don't know if that's her age or just her personality but she's stern with the kids. They always tell me I'm their favorite grandma and I make damn sure they know that their other grandma loves them just like I do and they are to never tell her I'm their favorite. -

I'm a "young" grandma. I don't think anybody thinks being a young grandma is an "accomplishment" but it's not something to be scorned either. Shit happens. I had my daughter when I was a teenager, thankfully my daughter didn't follow in my teen mom footsteps but that still makes me a young grandma. I will be 50 in 8 days and have a 7 year old granddaughter and a 3 year old grandson. Like I said, I don't consider it to be an accomplishment but I don't think I should be ashamed of it either. See, to me that's not Karma, it's raging insecurity. I don't care if my husband looks at other women. If I see a woman I know he'd think is attractive I'll point her out to him. I even bought him a lap dance on his birthday. If you're secure in your relationship, things like that don't matter. -
All Episodes Talk: Small World, Big Lives
Maharincess replied to NewOrleansLady's topic in Little People Big World
Damn...Jacob couldn't get out of there fast enough. I don't think they'll be getting too many visits from their youngest. That's what happens when you completely ignore a kid and talk about your empty nest while he's sitting in the room next to you. This is what happens when something on your property almost kills the kid and you still keep it around to make a buck. This is what happens when the kid is screaming out for attention and you cover your ears. Fuck these people. They acted shocked that Jacob was burning rubber to get the hell out of there when it was their fault. I hope he finds his way. Jake was always my favorite. -
I'm sorry my green alien friend. I feel bad. I was sincerely just trying to understand. I would miss the hell out of this show if it was cancelled. I love watching it and coming here and talking shit. I don't want it cancelled god dammit! The only one from Teen Mom 2 that I'm pissed is getting paid is Jenelle. I think every penny should go to Barbara with a small "friend of" stipend for Jenelle. And you know I couldn't agree more about my girl Chelsea. She's the best of all of them from all 3 Teen Mom shows. I hope there's nothing but beautiful things ahead for Chelsea and Aubree. I feel strangely proud of Chelsea. She's come a long, long way. She just seems like a good hearted, nice, sweet person. She's definitely a breath of fresh air for me after watching the other 3 losers.

True Life is more of a documentary, not a reality show. My point was that why call for the cancellation of a show that you watch every week? I'm not trying to be an ass, I just really don't understand. You watch it every week and comment about it here, yet you want it to be cancelled. I don't understand why anybody would go on a reality show and not get paid. I would think the good money is why people do these shows in the first place. I love ya Kazu, just trying to understand.
-
Kazu, you know you're my girl but I have to say that I don't understand this at all. You watch the show every week so I don't understand you saying something like that. This isn't a documentary on PBS, it's a reality show on MTV. You'd have to be an idiot to put your life out there on a reality show without getting paid. That would be stupid as hell. I also don't think e-mails to anybody is going to have any affect on anything. I just don't understand begging for a show that you watch every episode of to be cancelled.

Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"
Maharincess replied to Betweenyouandme's topic in Everything Else
I must be weird but I like seeing a group of teenage friends. It reminds me of me and my little "crew" when I was a teenager. Back then the hairstyle was the Farrah with the feathered bangs and we all had it. We also all dressed in the same style. It's just what girls do. I usually end up smiling at them and talking to them. It takes me back. I too will say You're welcome if somebody doesn't give me a thank you. Back when I was driving I also hated when people wouldn't give the thank you wave after I let them cut in or something. If I just want to browse and not be bothered by sales people, I just say "no thanks, I prefer to look around by myself, if I need anything I'll let you know". If I'm polite and direct it works. -
Ew, Taylor Swift. That's why I didn't know. I can't stand that sappy pop crap. My 6 year old granddaughter is a fan of her's, me not so much. DAngelus, thanks for the explanation.
-
What does "thirsty" mean? In my entire life, I've only ever heard the word thirsty be used if somebody wanted something to drink.
-
Apparently Gracie isn't the only brat in the family. I was looking at Dawn's Facebook and there was a picture of all three girlses. Most of the comments were about how mean Addie is.

Teen Mom 2 : Things That We Need To Discuss NOW!
Maharincess replied to Mya Stone's topic in Teen Mom 2
Holy shit, you really are my twin. I start singing it every time I come to this thread. My husband asked why the hell I was singing it so much. I told him it's from a commercial, the truth was too embarrassing. LOL. -
It's also good because it will help her remember who goes where when it's time for all the kids to visit their daddies. Especially after she has a few more.
