S02.E09: Things Which Have Never Yet Been Done
Bort replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Orphan Black [V]
I was wondering that myself. I looked it up, the actress is 19 but she looks pretty young so if the intention is that Grace should be 14 or 15, I would buy it. And it ups the ick factor, that's for sure. -
One bit I really loved was towards the end where Kiera, the adrenaline having apparently worn off from the gun-waving confrontation, parked her butt on a bench with a look on her face that was all, "I gotta sit down, my foot is killing me..."

It's been three sets of twins, one for each season. I really like this season's Emma, she interacts well with the actors, reacting to them and such. Since they seem to have finally acknowledged some passage of time, by celebrating her birthday and having her learn to walk, I'm hoping they keep the current twins as Emma. They're adorable.

The Love Interests: Pale Shadows of Lilith (if that's possible)
Bort replied to FormerMod-a1's topic in Frasier
And in fact, opted out of her Cheers contract in the later years for that very reason so no, they couldn't get Bebe to be on Frasier full time. -
That movie is awesome, I love it so much... Hal: I don't smoke, I don't drink and I don't swear. Oh shit, I DO smoke and drink! And to change it up, here's a favorite of mine from Scary Movie: Brenda: Everybody was drinking Cristal champagne and then started to get wild and people were getting freaky in the pool and stuff, I look over and there was your girl getting buckwild in the jacuzzi. Cindy: So? Brenda: With a back-up dancer! I mean that's nasty. That's--that's lower than a security guard. At least security can get you backstage. She don't love herself.

The Long Kiss Goodnight is on right now Nathan: Alice, please. Your dog, Alice. It and my appetite are mutually exclusive. Alice: Well, what's wrong with the dog? Nathan: Simple. He's been licking his asshole for the last three straight hours. I submit to you that there is nothing there worth more than an hour's attention. I should think that whatever he is attempting to dislodge is either gone for good, or there to stay. Wouldn't you agree? Man: Good evening, pretty lady. How 'bout some company? Charlie: No thanks. I'm saving myself 'til I get raped. Charlie: Easy, sport. I got myself outta Beirut once, I think I can get outta New Jersey. Mitch: Yeah? Well, don't be so sure. Others have tried and failed. The entire population, in fact. Charlie: Are you thinking what I'm thinking? Mitch Henessey: I hope not, 'cause I'm thinking how much my balls hurt. That last one I've always wanted to use but never had the opportunity because nobody actually ever says "are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Also, I don't have balls.

It looks like they're flipflopping BACK to Riley and Danny for the finale, according to the previews. Oy. Shit or get off the pot with this triangle, it's really annoying me. Pick one! (Danny)

They were both on Warehouse 13 this season, so there you go... I saw Laura Mennell's name in the guest credits, waited and waited for her to show up and just when I forgot about her, there she was. I liked her on Alphas so I'm glad it seems like she'll be here on a recurring basis. I also thought the killer's husband was the subject of the current dead kid case (the meth house) and not a past one. I had a hard time connecting the dots this time around, so good on the show for coming up with what I thought was a decent twist in the episode.

Noel took all their phones and left them in Philadelphia (the police tracked them there last episode). They went and bought a few burn phones (presumably paying cash), there was no way to trace that.

It's not so much that I really think Spencer was surprised, but my laugh is that Spencer tends to be kind of an elitist among the Liars when it comes to the "smart" things. She's gotten so used to hanging around Hanna, Aria and Emily, none of whom would probably even THINK of reading that book.
-
I liked for what it was: an intro. The preview for next week with Alison back in the fold looks to be more what I'm looking forward to. Spencer was good for some laughs. Her incredulity that Ali read The Art of War, plus her very loud stomach. Nothing about Spencer is quiet, is it? I also found it hilarious that Paige was about to peace out on Mona's Justice League (LOVE that nickname), saw Melissa walk in and her face was all, "oh HELL no, I'm not leaving now!"

Pretty Little Quotes: Two Can Keep a Secret If One Of Them Is Dead.
Bort replied to Bort's topic in Pretty Little Liars [V]
Was watching the repeat of the 4B finale before the premiere. After watching A jump from one rooftop to another, then scrambling up a brick ledge, Hanna to Ali: "That is definitely not your mother." -
Years ago, a friend of mine moved to Japan and was lamenting that she would miss ATWT so I burned it for her. Every day. I had forgotten about it until I was digging around in a closet and found a big ole spindle of discs full of ATWT episodes, dating from September 2004 through November 2006, basically the entire prelude, execution and prologue of the babyswap storyline. So I decided to watch it. Good times. I'm currently somewhere around May 2005, Jennifer and Gwen are pregnant, Paul and Emily are about to have an affair. I'm having fun rewatching this, I remembered the bullet points of what happened but the details had escaped me. For instance, I know that Mike finally leaves Jennifer but I can't remember why, although I do remember that it's a really stupid reason, considering he stuck with her through her cheating on him with Craig and getting pregnant. I guess I will see...

What You Want to Happen: You're the Coders
Bort replied to FormerMod-a1's topic in Person Of Interest [V]
I kind of like that the show has evolved. The old dynamic had the potential to grow stale and I feel like it was on the verge of that. I think the original intention with Root and Shaw was for them to be like Finch and Reese in the early days of the show: partners with secrets/baggage, distrustful of one another. It didn't quite work out that way because A) Root and Shaw have more extreme characteristics than their male counterparts and B) the actresses had different chemistry with each other, which the writers saw and altered course accordingly. So now it is what is and I like it. I like a show that's not afraid to shake up the status quo, it's one of the things I liked about Fringe. -
Completionists Anonymous: I've Started So I'll Fini...

That happened with The Vampire Diaries. I bailed too quickly (it starts out sooooooo boring) and it's about 5 episodes in before it really takes off. I had to play catch-up once I heard it got good. And I really liked it all the way through the third season. Season 4 was meh, season 5 was better, but they seem to have lost the magic. I'm still sticking with it though, because it goes back to my low expectations thing I'd mentioned before. Vampire Diaries isn't exactly Shakespeare, so I really don't get all that ticked about plot and character developments. Just don't bore me, is all I ask. -
This is my dad's cat. His fur coloring makes him look like he has Kitty Kleavage when he sits this way.

Does it count as bailing if you try a new show, decide it's not for you and ditch it? Because that pretty much happens to me all the time. I've taken to trying lots of shows in sheer volume because it gives better likelihood that something will stick. My most memorable tried-and-bailed as of late was Sleepy Hollow. I really liked the pilot, it was well-paced, the directing was excellent, so I was all yay, a new show! Three episodes later I was like WHERE'S THE HEADLESS HORSEMAN?!? It turned into a procedural on me and I was bored. -

Oh, Terra Nova. I hadn't had such a good time watching bad tv since Tarzan. It's a rare show that's a certain type of bad that makes chain sawing it apart fun, rather than simply being painful to watch. Last Resort was kind of like that too but just not QUITE as bad. I was sad to see Terra Nova go, I missed the fun. Although for completionist sake (and to attempt staying on topic), I would have liked to know if Skye had sex with crazyass Lucas to keep him from killing Josh. They left it heavily implied and it was the one thing I wanted closure on. -
Because ABC moved the show to the 10/9 timeslot, a location that hasn't had a show do decently for YEARS, and it performed pretty well. I imagine they'd rather keep Revenge going than invest in another new show that will in all likelihood crash and burn.

Once Upon a Time Grey's Anatomy

I'm really looking forward to lots of Ali this season. I mean, yeah, she's a turd, but Sasha plays her so well. And I'm guessing that the reasoning behind the resurrection is partly from her finally being 18 and available full-time?

Ha. Hilariously, Sarah Wynter and Laura Harris played sisters in season 2 of 24 so I understand the logic behind the recast but... I also SAW them on 24 and Harris is leaps and bounds better than Wynter, who also has a Renee Zelleweger scrunchy-face expression that I find off-putting.I finished Dead Like Me, the series but I didn't even attempt to FIND the movie. The recast and press release alone was enough to ward me off. I get the Once Upon a Time dislike. I don't share it but I get it, because I had the same problem with Lost (ironically by the same showrunners). I SHOULD have liked it, that crazy shit is usually right up my alley but I abandoned it after the first year. And after hearing the massive internet uproar over the finale, I see I made the right choice. -

I'm not much of a completionist myself. I don't even care if it's ALMOST done, I will bail if I wanna. Case in point: Angel. Two episodes left to go and I just didn't feel like finishing it out. You'd think that with only two dinky little episodes, I'd go ahead and watch them but nope. To this day, I don't even know what happened. I never read a recap either. Obviously, I'll complete a show if I love it but I will also do it if I'm indifferent. Smallville for instance. I never loved it to begin with, I found it entertaining enough to watch but was never so invested that its idiotic plotting, pacing and characterizations ever really pissed me off. So I hung on to the bitter end on that one. My only exasperation was that it took SO LONG to get there. I would sigh with resignation every year it kept getting renewed for the last several seasons it was on. You should've seen how happy I was at season 10 when I realized I'd finally be free. -
And more: Person of Interest Orphan Black (sorta) Because she IS that awesome

I loved the motivation thread too. Some of my past ones (since I'm at work and can't make any right now.): Pretty Little Liars Warehouse 13 I totally have some ideas, I'll make them tonight.
