Season One Episode Talk

I want Naylet to win out of the three, but I could see Bill pulling an upset, but I really think that Erin will be the ultimate winner. I have a feeling that they will judge more based on overall performance throughout the competition, which is how Erin will pull ahead based on her winning like 90% of the competitions. It seems that Nancy's doesn't care much for Bill due to his presentations not being "holiday" enough. Duff favors Erin for her upbeat, jolly attitude. Naylet seems to be the one all three like the most b/c she isn't a professional really, and she is just damn good and cooks w/her heart. I was nervous for Naylet and that bread since making a bread from scratch is hard and can take a while, but I knew her bread would be awesome in the end. I was really surprised Naylet informed the judges she has never made a bread before they tasted it, usually they don't like that b/c it's like you are putting yourself down beforehand to save face. I agree ABay, this was how they should have set up the competition. -
Did you hear that mothers...go tell your college age sons to please don't rape a woman. I can't even imagine a parent telling their sons that as they are dropping them off for college. Are you freaking kidding me Rosie P! She needs off this show in a hurry. Rosie Perez brings down the flow of conversation on this show. She struggles to get her points across and just slows. everything. down. There is something I just can't stand about Lara Spencer, I don't know what it is. She seems smug to me for some reason. These celebrity commercials need to end now. I hope Mario Cantone got paid well for that spot. In regards to the re-appearance of Babs, I read a few weeks ago that Rosie O and Babs were spotted out for a private dinner have a serious discussion. If this was true, I have a feeling it was Babs telling Rosie O how to handle Whoopi...perhaps telling her to wait Whoopi out.

I couldn't figure out why Kirk was alone on Christmas then they brought in Milhouse as well at the end. Did Luann and Kirk break up again? I didn't realize they killed off Edna. I thought she was just retired as a character and we wouldn't see her any further but she and Ned would still be married. I know they showed Ned mourning her, w/her photo next to Maude's, but I thought that was just an out of continuity tribute to Marcia Wallace. I liked this episode, especially Maggie trying to fix the broken star. I didn't realize the plot would continue past Maggie realizing the star was the shape of her head. It paid off well, not that anybody in the family noticed.

LOL!!! I know, I was going to post here did she mention that enough? We could make a drinking game out of it if her show was on in the evenings and she mentioned it more in her everyday shows. Yeah, it just seemed odd, let's say she went to meet the workers, which let's say at least 20 minutes, and I'm pretty sure it's been said that they live 30/45 min from town so her timeframe is off from preparing food and then making all these extraneous trips into town. In my opinion the timeframe for the entire episode was probably skewed and all this took place over two days, not one. I wondered what Edna Mae's reason for not attending the party was? In my mind she doesn't like the extravagance of the party/spending that Ree does, but that's just me. Her food did look good, the potatoes looked great as did the biscuits. For once I agree w/Ree, the holidays are the time of the year when you don't skimp on the cream, butter, and lard. I was afraid that she wouldn't have enough food since she didn't mention it was potluck at the beginning. I'm guessing this was filmed last Christmas since the building wasn't done yet compared to last weeks episode. It confused me at first b/c I was wondering when they filmed this for the current holiday season and that the college-daughter came home just to do ranch work and all. I figured it out when they showed more of the office building not finished. I have a feeling Ladd, that most cities doesn't allow you to cook on city sidewalks w/o a permit of some sort, even if they are small rural towns.

I loved the discussion about twitter and how they all react to comments today. I was touched when Rosie O said Parker defends her via social media when someone attacks his mother. It reminded me of me reading a discussion board years ago that was set up for my hometown and I read some horrible messages about my mother who was a grade school teacher. It was from former students and current parents saying how mean and what a horrible teacher she was (she was the no-nosense type and just retired two years ago at 68). I wanted to attack them online w/every fiber of my being but ended up not b/c I knew it wasn't worth it in the end. Rosie bringing that up just made me remember that and how children can be protective of their parents. I hope the executives have taken notice of how much better the show was this week w/o Rosie Perez on it. The day Rosie P came back it seemed the show went right back the dreck and long and tiresome affair it has been from the start this season. Episodes w/o her on it seem as if the hour has flown by, and that's a good thing. I have no beef w/Rosie P as a person, she seems nice and genuine and does so much for others and their causes; she is a beautiful person through and through, just not a good fit on this show.

Did you guys know that Nicole is an author? Just like her bringing up her being a mother she likes to bring up she is an author as well. I do have to say the guest co-host has my vote for the position of the "young-one" on the panel if the decide they need a young co-host.

I have a strong feeling that Whoopi reached out to Mr. Cosby personally, maybe a phone call, a letter or something privately saying/showing her support for him through all this and she didn't think that he would thank her personally and publicly like this. I'm not sure they will bring this up on the show b/c the blow back from this could be bad for her, and I really don't want to see her arguing w/Rosie O over it. If it is mentioned it will be a rant w/Whoopi waving her finger into the camera and telling us not to judge her for what she decides to do and say. I have to say though whatever comes from this it makes me happy b/c I love it when anyone takes a piece out of Whoopi's ego.
-
I've noticed as well that w/o Rosie Perez there that the show has been more tolerable and way less tense. It's odd b/c I don't have an issue w/Rosie P as I do w/Whoopi, so I don't know what is going on really. It's like some bizarro type thing for me. Perhaps it's b/c they aren't tackling tough topics so far like in previous weeks. I have a feeling that Rosie P will step down when the play starts out b/c it is too demanding working what, 8 shows a week and then trying to have a life w/her husband, and doing a morning talk show...that would be too much for anyone and something would have to go, which it would be the View.
-
I understand where Nicole was coming from w/her comparison of the haves and the have-nots when she brought up the first-class scenario on airlines, but the fact she thinks she is "one of us" really ticks me off. Let's see how she feels after she banks a few more months/years of the View checks in her account.

Is it sad that I kind of wish the late Mike Nichols had asked Whoopi what the hell are u doing on this show and with your career. I really think she respected him enough to have listened and perhaps walked away before becoming more of a joke due to this show.

Wow, I thought this was the winter finale w/all the action and the fact that Koenings were there. I do want to say that I want Ward gone and killed on this show. He has no purpose anymore to me, he isn't good, he isn't Hydra, he is just obsessed w/Skye. I really hope she takes him out personally. I knew as soon as he stepped on the plane that he was there for Skye more than Raina. I was confused to the Bobbie and Mack scene as well. I do think it's a given that either Bobbie or Simmons have been mind-controlled and that will play out in the second-half of the season. I wonder if Mack is still freaked out about Coulson and has/had an exit strategy for he and Bobbie as a just in case, and now he thinks she will drag Hunter along. I would love w/the references to Hartley we find out she is still alive. I mean it's freaking Lucy Lawless after all. I really can't see Marvel bringing forth the Inhumans stuff this early on when the movie is years away. This has to be a bait and switch for us.

With the show "Seeing Red" only being 6 episodes, wouldn't the show already have the scripts ready to go or at least an outline of where it is all going? I only ask this b/c so far we have seen the Paulie G character having Valerie giving him a blow job, and then he is outside her house shooting up w/a gun, I mean where can this go next? I'm guessing eventually the Valerie character will end up sleeping w/the Paulie G character on the show. I would hope that they aren't keeping Valerie in the dark here and it's Valerie who isn't asking to know the arc of her character w/the Paulie G character. I really can't figure out where Paulie G is going w/this show as it makes no sense compared to how they didn't interact that much during the tenure of "Room and Bored." Are we going to find out that the real Paulie G actually has a hard-on/obsession for Valerie Cherish?

I liked how Lithgow and Close were in the midst of a great discussion of leaving the stage for their children, then the guest-co-host asked some dumb question to Lithgow and instead he went back to the previous topic to finish his thought and ignored the asked question, I loved that. Like mentioned previously some of these guests are pros at this game and know how to make an interview entertaining and tell stories as well as plug the reason for the visit. They don't need to be asked a barrage of questions by four or five hosts. I didn't know that celebrity's started getting taxed for those gift bags. I remember hearing some of the stuff that they put in those bags here and there and sometimes they amounted to thousands of dollars. Now I know why you always hear about some celebrities who auction off the bags for charity now, or they have a drawing to give the bag to a fan. Did I understand now that some shows no longer pay celebrities for their appearances and instead give them gift bags? I guess either way they would be taxed.

David's log(s) were bland looking decorating wise. He just coated them in white colored icing (not sure of then flavor of the icing) then stuck ballerina cookies on the top that were lightly decorated. His dessert looked more like it was about the cookies than the log., like he just iced over some styrofoam for the cookies to stick into. I could totally see why he went home. -
Did anyone else think of Whoopi's upcoming reality show for her daughter and her extended family when Mario Cantone went on that rant about people seeking fame signing up to do reality shows about their lives. Whoopi stayed really quiet when he lobbed that one out there. So Whoopi has decided that she, being rich and famous, will help her daughter and her family become reality stars so they can make their own money and probably stop sucking at her "droopy old woman teat." I do agree that if a parent is able to help out their kids they should to a degree. I think like Rosie O did, giving them a car at high school graduation, is a great gift if the parent/s can afford it. I think at some point a parent should ease their kids off them financially. I could completely see a parent w/money telling it like it is to their children, I would say this is my money that I went out and made, now it's your turn to do the same thing if you so wish.

Well to be honest hoodooznoodooz, I watched the first season marathon the day before the new season started. I've been a fan of the show since the first season originally aired, and I usually would watch the series once every few years b/c I always thought it was brilliant and Lisa Kudrow was robbed of an Emmy that year. I think today that "I'm IT!" would be cancelled after a few episodes. We have to remember that back then, the early 90's, that lots of shows weren't cut short like shows today, after two or three episodes. I know this is odd, but I kind of wish they would film an entire episode of "I'm IT!" so we could see what the show was really like, maybe a pilot version so we could get the whole story on Valerie Cherish and why she is like she is.
-
Well if I recall "I'm IT!" was cancelled just before it could reach syndication numbers so that's why she isn't as relevant as she thinks she is. She won a People's Choice Award for the role, and that's about it. I don't think she was really A-list to be honest. I think she thought she was, as i'm sure most people seeking fame see themselves that way when they land the staring role in a tv-show. I think her first and only Tonight Show appearance while being on "I'm IT!" was probably to promote the show during the premier of the show. When someone brings up the show to her, it's usually a vague reference and it's remember it was a kitschy show. I think the show was on par w/the robot daughter show "Small Wonder." People vaguely remember that show and the only difference is the cast has moved on with their lives yet still reminisce about it and for what it was, whereas Valerie kept trying to be relevant and makes the show more than what it was. I really wish they would have Valerie meet up w/former cast members of "I'm IT" and they have either moved on with their lives or maybe one had become more successful than she could ever dream, like George Clooney in the Facts of Life or Roseanne. I really think that one of them telling Valerie a hard truth about "I'm IT!" could help, and yes I remember Jimmy Burrows tried to get through to her in the first season.

Wow, let's throw off Rosie P and bring in Alicia Menendez b/c that girl is smart and articulate and can seem to hold her own here. The entire panel seemed to get along quite well today, a good meshing and it was funny that nobody seemed to bring up or miss Rosie P. I loved Whoopi's wtf side-eye look at Nicole when she brought up Jerry Maguire and the first-class separation on the planes, it was really ridiculous, and then Nicole wouldn't let Rosie get her point across in regards to the Virgin Airlines first-class lounge. Well it must be a day ending in "y" b/c we are getting Whoopi's valley-girl accent, and the lifting her sagging boobs off the floor to toss over her shoulder. I couldn't figure out why Whoopi needed to bring up the fact that she was and EGOT winner in regards to the story of actress looking dowdy to win awards, it had nothing to add to the discussion other than she wanted to do so. Jesus, that wrap up of the Lithgow/Close segment was horrible, what the hell was Whoopi saying? Why the hell was she scared of a prop knife in a glass case? Seriously? They are having an Oscar winner shill products? My guess would be they are trying to find someone to bring in while Rosie P is out next year doing her play. My hope would be they want to shake up the panel and trying to find a replacement for Rosie P.

I see a job on Faux News in Miss Lauten's future. Bits is probably using all her pull as the current Faux News blonde on the channel to get her for an exclusive interview and/or job.

I loved Mickey's reply when it stated that this show isn't the Rockford Files. "No it isn't." I'm betting that Lisa had to bite her cheek when she turned to him after he said that line b/c he delivered that line so strongly and with conviction that I just laughed out loud for awhile and kept rewinding it. I felt so bad that Valerie's first thought when told most of her character would be cut was to assume it was b/c Paulie G forced his hand on it. I wanted to hug her, and Lisa Kudrow played that scene perfect w/the stuttering and confusion and sadness. What was w/the look Jane was giving Mickey after Valerie kept mentioning "cancer" during her improv? Jane looked like should could kill Mickey w/that look, it was very weird. Was Mickey not supposed to mention that on camera at all considering Valerie inadvertently pushed him to say it.

Wow, this episode was firing on all cylinders. I agree that Laurie Metcalfe should send this episode in for her Emmy nomination and I would hope she would get it and win. The only bad part is if she is submitting as lead or supporting, b/c if it is as lead then she has tough competition from JLD. The did the male doctor intern purposely send that photo out after Dr. James ripped him a new one last week? He seems kind of cocky and mischievous, like he has it out for everyone. I can't figure out Patsy and Dawn, but damn if I wasn't proud for Dawn laying it all out there for Patsy in that stairwell, that speech was very sad about "all I wanted was to become the person I was meant to be, instead of being the fucking me that I am." I forget sometimes how great an actress Alex Borstein can be when she isn't delivering Seth McFarland's dirty jokes and drivel of dialogue. I'm guessing that since she told Patsy off her will show more interest in her. "I lost our child that never existed," it's like some weird Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf type game w/these two. Can someone explain Nurse Patsy de la Serda, b/c i'm sorry but what does he do all day? As the lead/charge/head nurse, doesn't he still have to help out w/patients? I think they could get rid of him as a character and brings someone else in that can undermine the other nurses and doctors. I forgot to mention that I was thinking it was Amy Ryan at first as the terminal cancer patient, but then realized it was Elsbeth Tascioni from the Good Wife. Carrie Preston and Amy Ryan always confuse me b/c they could be twin sisters they look alike so much.

I forgot to say, what. the. hell. with Bobby Deen kissing a guy over bacon....I was like, seriously?! Let's face it, none of these competitors could cut it on the Next Food Network Star w/there not being able to convey a story towards their presentation. I mean they discuss it while cooking but when it comes time for presentation, nothing. I hate the way they made it seem like Tara was down to seconds to figure out how to decorate/present her yule log and then we get the most beautiful presentation ever. -
I thought it was telling that to Andy Cohen the only time Whoopi was relevant was back in the early 90's with her "You in Danger, Girl." shitick.
-
Yeah, that pashmina just made it look like Nadine was cold. I have to say i'm enjoying this show so much more than the Good Wife these days.
-
So here's an idea, how about we switch out Whoopi for Andy Cohen....hands? I hope Andy has been writing a sequel to his book and his appearance on the View makes it into the book, b/c I bet there was lots of bitching behind the scenes. I could totally see Rosie O and Andy gabbing in her dressing room, hell Andy and Rosie P as well. I bet Andy would have some thoughts about Whoopi; he seems like he isn't impressed w/her highness.
