Love May Be Blind, But the Media Sees All
Jane Tuesday replied to Jane Tuesday's topic in Love Is Blind
Love Is Blind is the #1 title on Netflix in the U.S. At least I know I'm not alone, even if no one I know IRL wants to admit to watching. LOL -

There are so many people, and we're getting time with so few, it's a little frustrating. Oh well. I was hoping this show would be total cringe, but it was actually kind of... sweet? My first impressions: Lauren and Cameron are love. They both seem like such sweet, genuine people. Out of everyone who was shown, I feel like they were the most sincere about truly trying to cut out the shit and find someone. Their ILYs were premature for sure, but heartfelt. I'm digging them separately and together. I'm wondering if he still lives in Maine, and where she lives. Realistically, that should be a consideration, I would think? Carlton is a massive "no" for me. He turned me off with his first confessional, talking about wanting to be Hugh Hefner and now it's time that he "has" to settle down and get married. If you see it as something you "have to do", then you're not ready. Don't waste these women's time. Barnett is super shallow, and I think he thinks he's on a competition show. I don't buy for one minute that he feels anything real for Jessica. But she seems shallow, too, so maybe they're a match. Run, Mark! Mark seems sweet, but he latched onto Jessica way too quickly considering the lack of depth in the conversations they showed us. Amber and Diamond (and anyone else I'm forgetting) are just kind of there. Why did they even bother hiring the Lacheys? lol

Ugh!: Actors, Hosts, And TV Personalities You Just Can't Stand
Jane Tuesday replied to UYI's topic in Everything Else TV
Pretty much every character on TAGS - except Andy and Opie - are nails on a chalkboard to me. Barney is such a moron, and even worse is Gomer! I can't believe Gomer had his own show (which I loathe.) By all accounts Jim Nabors seems like he was a lovely fellow, but the voice, the mannerisms, the utter ridiculous levels of naivety and cluelessness... It's astonishing to me that he was a popular enough character "back in the day" to get a spinoff, and it was actually successful. -
Is cheerleading governed by NCAA/NJCAA? I'm guessing not, and I'm guessing that's why the eligibility seems so "flexible" compared to what I'm used to with other sports. (Eligibility for sports governed by NJCAA is two seasons, and you must be a full-time student carrying at least 12 credit hours during the season.)

Christy's reaction to Patrick moving on was utterly ridiculous, but I didn't see anything wrong with her going to Jill. Beyond AA, these ladies are each other's family. They've been in relationships with each other that far outlast any romantic partnerships they've had on the show (or in some cases, ever). Patrick and Christy never really seemed that serious to me. Basically they were single, age-appropriate people who found each other attractive enough. And Patrick was being SUCH a whiny child. Seriously, what grown ass man is THAT concerned with his birthday? Bonnie left, and Adam basically said, "see ya". But then, I love Adam, and his relationship with Bonnie. Even when they fight - like in this episode - their chemistry is amazing.

I really hope they address the whole mess with Carter and the legality/legitimacy of the original adoption. I see a lot of comments about Taylor buying a baby, and how Steffy should have known, but it brings up a question I've long had: Are we supposed to think the adoption was clearly problematic? Or are we supposed to think this is how private adoptions work in BellLA? I mean, in RL it obviously would be the former. Adoptions can be expensive, but not $250K. The speed would be suspect as well. But this is a show of quickie marriages, insta-annulments, and companies that change ownership at the drop of a hat. So does Bell think he wrote a sketchy adoption, or does he think he just amped up the drama of a typical "rich and famous" adoption? I guess time will tell if anyone throws any shade about it, or if it's treated in-show like it was a normal thing.

Agreed! I think a big part of the problem is that ALL of the stories are centered around the switch. I remember as a kid watching Y&R, GL, etc. - there'd be some huge cliff-hanger and then when I'd watch the next day, there wouldn't even be a mention of that story. Instead it's Mope, Mope, Mope, every freaking day. If she's not on, the others are talking about her. In RL, I'd have all the sympathy in the world, but it's a soap. Show me something else, for heaven's sake! Imagine how much different it would be if Wally were rebuilding Spectra, and Thomas had been brought back as a spoiler in THAT relationship (which would actually make sense). Maybe Eric and Quinn or Maya could have an actual storyline of their own. These people all supposedly run a fashion house. How about a business story? Or at least a fashion show? Instead it's like we're stuck on the slowest runaway train of all time. Bell is rushing through all the beats of the story, while simultaneously making it drag on forever.

So Flo should be forgiven for selling a baby, but Taylor should go to prison for "buying" her? Sorry, I dislike this version of Taylor immensely and I want her off my screen forever, but I can't agree with this. Taylor should have realized there were about a million things sketchy about that "adoption", but Flo knowingly and with forethought helped sell a baby, a baby she knew had been stolen from her mother. She took her 50,000 pieces of silver, and no amount of bleating about how bad she feels (while doing nothing about it) changes that fact. She has befriended this poor grieving woman, who is now her cousin, and does nothing. I don't want to hear one more word from her about how sad it makes her. Not one. more. word. Hooking Flo up with my favorite character and actor isn't helping any, either. Can't Wyatt have anything nice, ever? They're going to destroy Wally (and ruin Sally's character), all so that Wyatt can be devastated when he finds out his new/old chick stole his brother's baby? As a bonus, Quinn finally gets to be successful controlling Wyatt's love life. Maybe he can defend Flo, so we can see Wyatt and Liam hating each other again, tearing apart my favorite non-romantic pairing as well. I hate this story so much. It has a lot of good soapy potential, but the execution is HORRIBLE. It's making me hate literally everyone.
