I'm not one to stress or dwell over things I can't control, but I can't even take a full, deep breath right now. I'm so tense and sick from events.

Drop cookie, please and thank you! 😃

Hi all. Does anyone have a simple, tried-and-true sugar cookie recipe they'd be willing to share? I am a chocolate chip/pecan cookie expert, but can't master a darn sugar cookie. Grrrr.....

Watching the video. Renee keeps emphasizing how big the earrings are, as if that is a selling point. LOL.. "And these ones....." I hate the phrase "these ones." Just say "these" please! LOL, those air fresheners are huge!!! Not "air freshener" size at all. Do better, ladies. And whoever is recording the video (Jill I assume) keeps getting their bare feet in the shot. Yuck. Kind of sad, really.

In my fan-fiction version of their lives, Kaylee and Renee have struck out on their own, away from "Momma," maybe in Florida near Nurie. In this alternate world I'd buy several of their homemade....er, handmade items, just to support their journey to freedom. I wouldn't wear or use any of that god-awful stuff, but I'd support their cause.

Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events
CouchTater replied to maraleia's topic in Counting On
I'm also the youngest of 4 (lots of us here!). Same experience: I do not have any pics of younger me until school pictures kick in at age 5. There used to be a cute baby pic, but that disappeared long ago. -
Good morning everyone. I haven't posted in awhile but I read (and enjoy) all of your posts! @lookeyloo, I'm sending virtual hugs and well-wishes to you. I'm having a really good Sunday. I suggested to my small organization (22 employees) that we adopt a family for the holidays since we can't all celebrate together as a team (we've been telecommuting since mid-March, with no end in sight). We wound up adopting 2 families: 1 single mom with 4 kids, and another single mom with 2 kids, one of whom has cystic fibrosis. I'm coordinating, so I currently have a ton of gifts stacked on my kitchen table. My team really stepped up with grocery store gift cards, gas cards, cash, remote control cars, coats, bedding, tablets, Legos.....and more! I didn't know what to expect, but my team exceeded what I hoped to gift to these families. So I get to bundle up the gifts and deliver them to the families. I feel so grateful and blessed to have my team. And I hope next year we can adopt even more families. 🙂

I agree, COVID may require some extraordinary measures this holiday season. Christmas makes me so happy that I think I will decorate this weekend. If my newly adopted, wild-child cat doesn't tear up and tear down the tree, I may keep it up for a couple of months, lights a-blazin'! My only roommates are my 2 cats and I don't think they'll mind.

Joy and Austin: This One Time At Family Camp
CouchTater replied to frenchtoast's topic in Counting On
Just curious: How old were the Duggar girls when they became sister-mom age? There doesn't seem to be enough age separation between Jill and Joy for Jill to have led Joy's buddy group. -
Thank God I don't have any non-believers in my life. Or any other "truthers" for that matter. Well, I do have a nephew with some interesting ideas on African-American history that I haven't totally discounted. 🤔 But back to COVID, what do non-believers think is the end-goal for a COVID lie? To destroy world economies? Drive us all into mental and financial depressions? I just don't get how anyone can think that anyone is somehow benefitting from a global pandemic. WTF?

I loved that movie on first watch but haven't been able to ever watch it again. Too sad.

It always strikes me as so hypocritical. These "saved" parents got to live the fullest lives of their choosing. Once they're done with that, they decide their children don't need the same opportunity to experience those same things and come to their own conclusions. Kind of like the mom of the Plath family. Ugh. I love my parents for giving me the freedom to make choices and mistakes from very early on. It's why I'm confident and, dare, I say successful today.

Another good podcast I've been listening to is "Survivors Podcast." It's not a very polished production, and a sometime-co-host is a little annoying, but the people's stories about living in/surviving FLDS life is very interesting.

Jinger has really ugly fingers/nails/cuticles.

Ok, I was inspired. I just ordered a Waterpik Cordless Express, to give it a shot. If I like water flossing I'll eventually upgrade to the combo brush/flosser like @Scarlett45!

I'm sorry for the setback @PikaScrewChu. I admire you for pursuing your dreams and not playing it too safe. Please consider 2020 a bump in the road that will one day be in your rearview mirror. Reset, recharge, and go! 🙂

I haven't started the new season yet. Is it any good?

You know, I can't get a read on the daughters' little digs at Darcy. They've made little comments before and just giggled it off with "our mom's crazy" or something to that extent. But it feels a little passive-aggressive to me. Hmmmm....I wonder where they learned that?

Very nice @scarlett45! The tile is very pretty and soft! I had my one and only bathroom remodeled 18 months ago (also tub to walk-in shower) and I understand your sister's angst about it. It was very stressful! Congrats on surviving the remodel!!!

Oh lord! My first reaction to the video was "awww, how sweet." It really made me think of my dad. But then I read Doodlebug's post, and ugh. Every time I find what I think is a commonality or similar sensibility with these folks, another (probably truer) perspective comes to the fore. Then I remember I have nothing in common with them, and that they'd have nothing to do with me in real life, based on my demographics.

I think he's cute! LOL
