The Legend Of Vox Machina - General Discussion
SVNBob replied to AnimeMania's topic in The Legend Of Vox Machina
..as part of the buildup to the release of Season 3. There's been a bunch of YouTube shorts from the cast promoting this. -
I found a list of the old luxury items on another Survivor forum. Per that list, Rudy, Gretchen, and Carl (from S3) brought toothbrushes, but only Carl had the matching toothpaste I know Alicia (she who will always put her finger in your face) wanted to bring an electric toothbrush, but not for oral hygiene. They didn't allow hers.

Austin just made it "instagram official" 😝 that he's dating Jeff's niece. They've apparently been seeing each other for a little while now, but had kept it quiet until this announcement.

Very probably. CBC (Canada's BBC) put out a podcast earlier this year delving into Kid Nation. I've only listened to episode 1, but there's a lot in just that one episode. https://www.cbc.ca/listen/cbc-podcasts/1426-split-screen-kid-nation

...and is thus practically guaranteed a spot on Survivor 50.

Plot was actually that the mother had passed on and named both men as co-guardians in her will. So no one knew which "dad" (technically, if either) was the genetic parent. But they eventually addressed the blood testing issue in an episode in the 3rd season. Climax of the episode was the uptight "dad" (played by Paul Reiser) destroying the plain brown envelope with the results in it unopened.

Why Grammar Matters: A Place To Discuss Matters Of Grammar
SVNBob replied to candall's topic in Everything Else
I was trying to think of one as well; mainly one without a verb as that would have been more germane to the topic. That's quite a bit harder to come up with than sentences without a subject. Seems like it's mainly interjections. It's grammatically fine. "Listen" has a secondary definition as a noun; meaning an act of listening. So it is an "object" one can "take", much like a look. -

Not really. After all, where is the verb in "Holy Crap!"? That's a perfectly valid and understandable sentence. -
You say that, and all I can picture is the trope prevalent throughout Japanese media (and Western media paying homage to Japanese media) of the two swordsmen facing each other, swords drawn, and running sideways...often through a forest or stalks of bamboo. It would be one hell of an event.

The common phrasing is "dads and lads." As in "the Doctor for the lads, and Leela for the dads."

Star Trek: Lower Decks in the Media
SVNBob replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Star Trek: Lower Decks
There's a Lower Decks mobile game on both Apple and Android. Premise is a previous version of Badgey has trapped the crew in the holodeck and is running them through events in the Starfleet Archives. (Meaning that the levels are loosely based on episodes from any/every Trek series.) There's also a special event happening this month: a crossover with Doctor Who. Which is also happening the Doctor Who moblie game from the same developers. -
She, her husband Blair Herter, and their son do live in the Netherlands now, so that might be a factor. And she may just be wanting to focus on family for a while. She does mention on her new-ish podcast that she will not be returning for the upcoming season, but doesn't say why yet. (Around 4:10 in the video below.) It also kinda sounds like she's done with mainstream entertainment for a while, but does not discount ever returning. Also in the video, she tells a BTS story about the filming in Utah near SkinWalker Ranch with more details about the incident that was shown. That starts near 47:25 in the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95d2wzIm7Iw

There's one other weird element to the list of missing episodes, yet preserved clips; and it's one of the biggest missing episodes and weirdest "preservations." The story "The Tenth Planet" is missing the final episode. Not the biggest deal, except for the fact that that was Hartnell's final story. So the missing episode contains the very first regeneration sequence! That's why it's the Holy Grail of the missing Doctor Who episodes. Luckily the regeneration sequence itself did get preserved...thanks to another BBC show, Blue Peter. In 1973, that show did a special about Doctor Who and included the regeneration from Hartnell to Troughton as part of the special. Where they got the clip from, no one is truly sure. (There's a myth that they'd borrowed the only copy of the episode from the Beeb's archives for the special, then lost it. But that's unsubstantiated. They did borrow and never return a copy of "The Daleks' Master Plan" Episode 4 though.) But the version of the first regeneration that now exists in the BBC archive is technically from an episode of Blue Peter and not Doctor Who. While fact-checking for this post, I learned about another controversy regarding the lost episode. In 1992, a man claimed to have a copy of the missing episode and would sell the tape to the BBC for 500 pounds (around $1640 US currently). But it was a hoax. The hoaxer's name? Roger K. Barrett. Better known as Syd Barrett from Pink Floyd.

From the promos that aired during the final episodes of Survivor and TAR this season, it's a reality competition where 14 people have a limited timeframe to climb (with supervsion) one of the Alps of New Zealand. And they're carrying the prize money in their packs.

Expedition Unknown - General Discussion
SVNBob replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Expedition Unknown
We also heard a nice variation while in the cave, which was also in the promos for the episode: "Oh My Goonies!" Not being from the PA area, I hadn't heard of the Doans before. But it was a fascinating and timely story (in multiple senses), so I'm glad to have seen this investigation. -
I would imagine that most of his detractors have never seen his next TV gig, the NBC Saturday morning cult classic, Kidd Video. Notable for having the live-action actors also voice their animated counterparts...and perform as the band.

Physically it's the largest. 55+ acres of territory; covering the festival village proper, parking, camping, and other space. Longest running? Definitely not. That honor goes to the Original California Renaissance Pleasure Faire, the mother of all Ren Faires in the US.

Expedition Unknown - General Discussion
SVNBob replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Expedition Unknown
I'm not a fan either, but for a weird reason. I like the new VO in the intro. The original VO was mostly about Josh and how he ended up in "strange places". The new VO is more about the expeditions themselves; talking more about the history and legends that Josh and crew are looking into, and I like the change of focus. What irks me is in the visual presentation. The giant individual letters in the intro that are obviously meant to spell out "Expedition" only get up to the T, so they just "spell" the non-word "Expedit." -

To be fair, calling an introductory learning text a "prymer" does at least make sense. Since it is "priming" the mind to learn more on the subject contained therein.
