  1. Remember when there was a competition and prize for the winning model? I miss the button bag, but that was when the models were all six foot rails...... My all time favorite models from this show were Nazri and Thijin (not sure of spelling for either name). I think DD has great attitude and a fierce walk.
  2. Oh my gosh I feel the same way! This is such a lovely group and they are all so nice I hate to lose any more of them, but my heart is really rooting for Chigs. I still can't believe he's only been baking for a year or so! I also think this season has seen some better challenges than the last couple seasons. I love caramel, so I was into this one. It seems deceptively difficult to get the correct consistency for the caramel. I didn't even mind the superfluous sugar dome as it gave us the mad dash to remake the bowl THREE TIMES! by Crystelle. That was pretty impressive that she switched techniques and got it done on the fly under the pressure of the tent. It's almost like she was doing another technical!
  3. I liked Aaron's too, but only from the waist down. The pants were great; the bandeau and puff sleeve topper not so much. I think the whole thing would have been killer if he had made a jumpsuit with just the flowers on the bottom. Weirdly, I also think Katie could have been ok with her original jacket if she had just put some solid cigarette pants on the bottom. Also, I liked Zayden's dress and print if it just had two more inches on the bottom...... This week Coral was robbed of a top 3 spot by that red monstrosity. Speaking of..... I cannot fathom what they loved about that shower curtain sleepwear. It didn't even fit the brief for "high end fashion look"! I was sure it was in the bottom. I honestly thought it was the worst thing on the runway by a mile. But no. Sometimes I cannot believe what the judges like. It seems this has happened more since bringing on Elaine and Brandon. I question their taste level (see what I did there? ;-p ) I am already tired of Octavio's garbage bags. When will the judges ding him for being a one way monkey? His print was probably my favorite though. Once again, I cannot fault the one sent home. Why is it ok for him to continue to hit on Christian? So inappropriate and gross! It was past time for him to get gone. Next up: Katie the Kindergarten designer......
  4. What I wouldn't give for a snarky Michael Kors bon mot regarding Sabrina's floral vagina.......
  5. I already had my fantasy Heidi comment on episode one - if you look at my comments on that thread I wanted her to tell Darren he was a surprise second elimination for making nothing ;-p
  6. Oh yeah, I think I blocked it from my mind! Didn't they have to use her fabrics as well? Lord......
  7. Just finished watching this, and I'm pretty sure this was a do-over for Renee because they knew she should have won last year. I'm not mad about it because I too thought she should have won last year and I'm glad she got another shot. I'm kind of surprised that Adina didn't win though. I thought her cake looked the best despite the lean and had more creativity than the other two. Oh well, on to the Holiday Baking Championship......
  8. You and every other person who is not in a design competition. I wish they would narrow the definition of street wear instead to a "denim challenge" or "athleisure challenge". I am pretty sure they have done athleisure in the past, but it seems even more relevant in the post-covid world.....
  9. My first thought was it's the perfect way to dispose of Dodge - lure her into Key House and kill her from the dollhouse.
  10. I mean a lining in the gown. There are a lot of illusion dresses out there - I don't think adding a lining would alter the look of the gown much other than making it actually wearable in public. Heck, even for the show - I sometimes feel bad for these models with what they are required to wear. They may not have known they might be walking down a runway on national tv with their bits hanging out for all to see.......
  11. If they used a nude liner it wouldn’t change the look other than making it actually wearable in public and eliminating the distraction of visible underwear…..I wish the judges would call them out on this. I don’t think most of them are doing it as a design choice but more because they run out of time to line it. And in most cases it looks unfinished and tacky.
  12. In regards to the Tim vs. Christian argument, I think the difference lies in their background. Tim came from a teaching background; Christian is a working designer. Tim always had some esoteric critique that seemed designed to make the designer think and ultimately make the decisions about their garment themselves; Christian is much more direct about what is wrong with the garments and gives much more practical advice for fixing it. It's also their personalities. Tim gives off a warm supportive vibe; Christian is naturally snarky. Apples and oranges. I like them both, but I appreciate Christian's more direct approach. Besides, I've always loved him. My favorite moment with him from his season was him helping a fellow designer because he was already finished and then his talking head sighing and (in his bitchy voice) saying something like "you try to help people, but they still end up in the bottom"......Ha! I think Chasity deserved to win, but I am over all these sheer unlined garments. It really detracts when I can see the model's undies and pasties covering up their bits. It just looks unfinished to me. And her preference for hand sewing is going to get her into trouble one of these challenges...... I feel like I am in the minority, but I hated Anna's. The ginormous veil was creating the drama, not the dress, and that was a piece of fabric she brought from home that she did nothing to! Again, another sheer unlined dress....... And then Octavio - I'm sorry, but the model is the reason that dress didn't look like a garbage bag. She WORKED it. I would have put Aaron (robbed again!) and Coral, or gasp! Katie in the top over Anna and Octavio. I think there were many contenders for bottom 3, but I have no problem with who was there, and the absolutely correct person went home. Again, another unlined sheer dress. Ugh! Hopefully tacky, thirsty Darren can go next.....
  13. My husband's favorite: It's really tahp draaaawer" I didn't realize so many people were a fan of that movie - it's one of my favorite!
  14. I had secondary embarrassment for Meg when she was comparing being overweight to being black. Just no. I am a white woman, and that was painful to watch. My 17yo daughter came in during that scene and said "What is she saying??? She needs to just shut up."
  15. This whole episode was awful. Meg was cringe worthy and tone deaf when she was going off to Praije, and she shouldn't have been so rude to Kenneth, but they were awful to her in the aftermath. Kenneth crying and saying he was bullied. Bullshit. At that point they turned into the bullies themselves, and everyone else is complicit for turning a blind eye. Chasity is kidding herself if she thinks Meg could have just said "no". Meg was in a no win situation; she would have looked like an asshole for saying no after Coral said yes to Praije. Kenneth was wrong to wait until they were halfway through the challenge to ask her and then cry because she was pissed. Meg was a pill, but at this point I don't like Praije or Kenneth either, and the judges can suck it too for pitying Kenneth without hearing both sides. And why was Kenneth not dragged harder for that shit he put down the runway? I mean, the whole thing started because he "wanted someone who looked like (himself)" so he could do a"Crazy Rich Asian" look, and then the minute he got the model he wanted he changed to an homage to the workroom? What the hell??? I really hate street wear challenges. These clothes all look absolutely ridiculous and not wearable on any "street" I frequent. The reality is that most "street wear" is some version of t-shirt, jeans and jacket. Crazy harem pants, car wash strips and partial ball gowns would get strange looks where I live. The only look I liked was Aaron. He should have won last week, and he was robbed again by the workroom drama. I don't know what's happening this season, but I am not loving it at all. Did the Lifetime team film this season? Where is the elegant sophistication of the OG Bravo seasons? Maybe after this many seasons there are just not enough legit designers left? I really hope there is more fashion and less drama next episode!
  16. Thanks for this -so funny! Digital technology - why didn't I think of that??? Of course, it doesn't explain the "old" photos that we see in the intro every week since they were taken before digital technology, but I'm just going to start humming the hamster dance to take the place of any rational thoughts in my brain......
  17. Me too, but everyone this year is likeable to me, so I'm not too upset. I don't think George is long for the tent anyway. I am now just hoping Chigs doesn't blow it! I liked this week. All three rounds had stuff I thought looked pretty tasty, and sadly for Freya, no-one had an absolutely terrible bomb round. I loved Lizzy's little cookies with the faces ;-)
  18. Ok - I'm glad I'm not the only one who laughed. And I laughed every time they showed her black blobs. I couldn't help it! I don't watch this show for the disasters, but when it's this bad, it just was funny to me. I did feel horrible for her and when her show stopper leaked I felt even worse. She was a delight - I will miss her on this show. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I actually like Freya a lot. Until this week, she has done quite well, and she knew this was going to be a challenging week for her - she said so before they even started. I like that she's just getting on with it and not making a big deal about her stuff being vegan. Her pavlova looked better than almost everyone else's even if it didn't taste great. I hope she lasts a while longer..... Very happy with Chigs' win - I love when Paul shakes their hand and they are so happy, and when they win star baker and call their family. These are the sweet moments I love about this show. And I am with the group who supports Matt leaving the tent - I like Noel, but not as much as when he was with Sandy. These two together create a sour note in the tent. Paul is Paul. I don't think he's any meaner than he ever was, but Prue does seem nicer to me than when she first joined. I like that she now tempers criticism with something positive, like "it looks a mess, but it tastes lovely" or something. Maybe she's been studying video of Mary Berry......
  19. Ooooh - good thought! It would certainly make sense since Bunny is wearing that sweatshirt.
  20. I'm thinking maybe Bunny went to talk to Mabel for some reason, and the murderer was in there (possibly for the green ring?) lying in wait for Mabel to return and got surprised when Bunny came in instead and stabbed Bunny with the knitting needle because it was close at hand? I just cannot fathom why Bunny was wearing the Podcast sweatshirt....... I am wondering if we will hear the podcast "Only Murderers in the Building" from Cinda's perspective next season? Either way, I hope our group gets cleared quickly and is out of jail early. Got a good laugh at Siri playing"Fields of Gold" by Sting when Charles couldn't talk. Of course it was Sting. Love everything Steve Martin did this episode. The elevator stuff was hilarious. The speech about their friendship he gave only he understood. Even him simply deleting his name from the text made me laugh. So good. I kept thinking it was too simple for Jan to be the murderer, but I wasn't disappointed in the way it played out. Mabel got to use her fighting skills for good this time! I hope they can keep up the quality next season. It can't come soon enough!
  21. I think it's just a flailing reach for some justification for making a ball gown/formal evening wear, which is not really much use to most people most of the time, even people who do go the opera apparently!
  22. I think that dress would have looked better if it had just been one solid dress without that netting or whatever you call it in the middle.
  23. Ok so this has been bugging me - in the show, they are clearly invisible in mirrors, but in the opening credits they are visible in photos. Shoot, in the Atlantic City episode, Nadja even has a picture of herself in the sixties with the Rat Pack. Are we supposed to just hand wave this? Nandor with the feathered hair and short shorts was everything. Colin Robinson is killing it this season. He is a deeply weird person and I love it. Do energy vampires have some obsession with poop? Because it sure seems that way - he was waaaay too into sorting through Guillermo's crap at the beginning of the season, then his comment to the Siren about her not being the first woman to shit on his shoes, and then this week all the farting/scent marking....... I also loved the call back to the "creepy" paper when they were decorating. I'm sad this season is almost over.......
  24. This is where I miss Heidi. I can almost hear her saying after dismissing Caycee, “And Darren, you are also out because you made nothing.” Me too - the facial expressions directly into the camera were gold. What - you didn’t wear a strapless floor length gold sequined gown??? Or, perhaps a floor length organza gown that looks like it’s choking you??? 😂 I did not mean to dis opera. I live in central California, so not too many opportunities, but opera is not my thing at all. Still, I bet it’s awesome to see at the Met! It just makes me crazy because it seems very specific and not super common, but they all say it!
  25. I agree completely, it is tokenism. It’s been going on long enough that a pattern has emerged that the designers with the plus sized models are in the bottom more often than not. I wish the show would rectify this somehow because it’s getting offensive how obvious it is. The reality is that clothes look better on women built like clothes hangers. I say this as a woman who wears a 38C bra and fluctuates between a size 10-12. I don’t watch this show for realism - how many times are they making clothes out of vegetables or car parts or some other “unconventional material “, or working with the idea that the gal is heading to the opera or movie premiere or some other ridiculous activity? I don’t know about everyone here, but I’ve never been to the opera. Why do the models have to reflect real people when more often than not the clothes do not? They should just stop this nonsense and either make everyone use a plus size model at the same time or no one uses a plus size model because it’s apparent two sets of criteria are used when judging them. Ok, rant over…… Cannot believe Aaron’s look was not top 3, if not outright winner. But the show decided to award drama over good fashion. I certainly would have put it over Mustache Man’s look - he made a freaking tube top! Ironic, since that is the same item of clothing Christian told Darren was too basic! Speaking of…. Bones marching outside and ripping that cigarette out of Darren’s mouth and hauling him back indoors was an instant classic moment on this show. Hilarious! And Darren should have been a surprise second auffing because he made nothing. Oh well, he is not going to last long……
