Her upbringing seemed to have actually made her terrified of the world outside their bubble. Monogamists are scary! They’re coming to take your kids and arrest your husbands! She had a LOT of programming to overcome. And she also may have tried to stick things out until all her kids were grown. Lots of people do that.

I used to read posts on exmormon.org (I think it was) from “escapees.” I guess the secret names are assigned by a priest. Quite a few people shared how they discovered, after leaving the church, that lots of people had the same secret name, like there was just this limited pool they the priests drew from at random or something.

Did he actually say Christine was? I saw one quote over there where he said “they” were filming and it seemed just vague enough to make me wonder. As much as I’d like her to remain on the show, it seems like it would be pretty awful for the kids to see much more of this conflict broadcast to the world.

I think you’re right. Christine has alluded to asking Mykelti, “Can it really be this easy?” I recall that Christine used to seem extremely paranoid and afraid of people outside their polygamist community, due to being raised with the fear of their families being broken up, men arrested, etc. It may have been a real revelation to her to see loving monogamous marriages up close.

The thing is, he could have seen his kids with a high degree of safety if he’d wanted to. I’m super, super cautious but have still had outdoor gatherings with other cautious people, and I walk weekly with a friend and have since early 2020. Even if the chance of dying is only 3% (which I question), there are too many other serious ongoing health problems that can occur - not to mention the fact that you can continue the spread of the disease if you contact it I don’t take issue with extreme precautions but I do take issue with Kody not taking advantage of safer ways to gather or at least fucking CALL his kids once in awhile

I haven’t even been able to watch this episode because the “housewives” give me a royal pain. All those distorted plastic faces that all look alike, and those nasty, nasty personalities. I am trying to gear up to sit through it.

I imagine that TLC’s Covid policies drove at least some of this.

Maybe it would mean he wasn’t taking precautions or maybe he got a breakthrough case. - I dunno. I hope we find out.

But maybe that was thanks to someone in his many families not taking precautions, then infecting him. I hope we find out what happened.
