WHatever age it was, it wasn't appropriate. And the home videos show that he very much was in their life. She's in the videos with him and Dylan. She's there. She can't claim that he wasn't in her life.

When they got together he was 56 and she was 18 or 19. I'm sorry, that's just fucked up no matter how you slice or dice it.

I watched this. I'm not sure I can watch any more. This was incredibly upsetting. A few thoughts: 1) I can't believe that Mia didn't see warning signs when Woody only wanted a 'blonde' girl to adopt. Why would that sort of thing matter? 2) I think Mia was a somewhat absent parent. I don't blame her for what happened, but when I see all those videos where Mia's older adopted kids look rather sullen, that also sets off alarm bells ... 3) This is NUTS but when you look at Soon Yi and Mia you SORT of see this weird resemblance. Of course it's not obvious but Soon Yi seems to have similar build and expressions as Mia. It turns my stomach but I could see Soon Yi being Woody's "type" after looking at Soon Yi and Mia. 4) The videos of him gripping Dylan and her looking so uncomfortable are hard to watch. So creepy. 5) Poor Moses. He's such an adorable kid in those videos. But him growing up in a household with that much dysfunction seems to have damaged him. 6) I remember when this stuff went down that Woody Allen claimed he had no part in Mia's household, that he wasn't a father figure, and much was made of him not even sharing a residence or staying the night at her place. This doc dispels that -- he's definitely around a lot as the "dad." Anyway I'm really not sure I have the intestinal fortitude to watch the rest of this. It's awful. Those poor, poor kids.

S46.E13: Regé-Jean Page / Bad Bunny

What happened in Episode 5, 52 minutes in: But the "Drivers License" skit reminded me of the time I was teaching and there was a lot of negative energy in the room so I had the whole class sing along to "Someone Like Me" and the boys bawled it out and everyone was in their feelings and I was able to continue with my lesson. -

I sometimes wonder if in another life and another set of circumstances Melanie and Rhett might have been happily married. It wouldn't have been a passionate love match but they like and respect each other a great deal. They both love kids. Melanie is warm and nurturing and Rhett was abandoned by his own family. -
It wasn't as overt as BB15. It was more like if a POC came into the room the Grateful would shun them socially. BB21 mostly sucked bc after jury Jackson never lost an HoH or veto. Seeing one guy challenge whore his way to the end just isn't exciting.

The Bridgerton sketch was definitely the right mix of creepy and funny. -

I'm not sure whether the show is good or Rege Jean Page is just so pretty and setting off the endorphins. Maybe both. -

None of these guys actually have chicken legs. Chicken legs is like Kevin Durant. -

Only tuned in for the Bridgerton Duke hotness. But I didn;t know Rege Jean Page could sing. <-- someone who binge watched Bridgerton in 2 days not because it was anything great but because of all the pretty. -
While everyone marvels at Kevin Durant and John Wall coming back so strong from an Achilles tear, DeMarcus Cousins is getting waived by the Rockets who did guarantee his contract (so he will get paid). But it's not expected that another team will pick him up. So another case of a career-ending Achilles injury 😞

Melanie loves kids. She loves all kids she encounters and I would imagine she wanted more kids herself. I'm not sure her getting pregnant the second time is a sign that she was crazy about Ashley. For one it had been many years since her pregnancy with Beau. Many women feel confident that they're "stronger." -
Idg why defenders of Woody always point out that Farrow was a shitty mother. These are not mutually exclusive -- Farrow could have been a shitty, neglectful mother AND Woody Allen a total creep/sexual predator. Maybe Farrow was sort of out-there and not really involved in her kids' lives and that made it easier for Allen to get away with what he did.

Speaking of GWTW marriages anyone wonder how much Melanie really loved Ashley? Melanie is a loving person and I think she had great affection for Ashley. But actual love? -

She was also only 32 when the novel began. She was what Southern ladies were expected to be at that time -- stern, genteel, religious, industrious around the plantation. Actual mothering skills wouldn't have been prized that much as that was the job of Mammy's. Her marriage to Gerald was one of convenience. -

There's so many cool stories about the making of GWTW. One was that Clark Gable wore dentures and took them off between shooting and the dentures caused this awful halitosis that made it difficult for love scenes to be filmed. Leslie Howard himself hated playing Ashley. He said he was too old and he disliked playing someone so weak. -

Leslie Howard's toupee drove me nuts -- always so meticulously curled, even when Ashley was back from war. The GWTW really dropped the ball on Ashley. He's just a nebbish in the movie. In the book he's a more complex character, someone who has a lot of intelligence and insight if not the practical skills to survive Reconstruction. -

For this reason I'm grateful they cast Vivien Leigh as Scarlett. I feel like Leigh had enough depth as an actress that the role wasn't just a stereotypical shrew. The whole movie is really well cast and the acting holds up surprisingly well, especially all the character actors.
