  1. I wonder how the business Drew works for views him now? They likely knew he was a bit of an ass, but how this will translate into customer relations would be interesting to see. The fact that he had no problems being an ass and in fact seemed to revel in it, says a lot about his character to me. On the after show, the one person did say, you can't make a soundbite if you don't provide the material (paraphrasing), so I can't say I feel he got a bad edit. Sadly there will always be women who are drawn to men like this. Hey, if inmates serving life sentences can find women, there can't be a shortage of ones who will find Drew attractive. I did like the after show with Thomas. He seems like a decent enough fella. I will admit, if I had to do things over again, he's the guy I would pick. Imagine, traveling the world and having a man who knows what to do with tools. Now to me that's a great combination. Of course I'm old enough to be Thomas' mother, so with age comes wisdom. As this is the first time I've watched any of this series, I have to wonder, how do these people get all the time off from their jobs? I know on SYTYCD etc many have quit their jobs to follow their dreams, but an unemployed fiance would now be a good thing in my books. Are these guys paid to be on the show?
  2. Apparently that his real hair and real hair colour. Not sure where I read that, but after all the discussion on here I had to check it out. Someone just doesn't know how to style it in a flattering manner.
  3. A little late and sorry about that but if you can get CBC on time shift, they are showing the pairs' and men's free program from Skate America. It started at 1 pm EST, so if you get CBC from other parts of Canada you might still be able to catch it.
  4. I'm not a 100% sure, but I do believe he said something about her throwing her dress at him. I thought I heard him say as Gleb threw his shirt, he'd rather have her dress or something like that. I may be wrong about this as I wasn't paying attention and just got little snippets of the comments. I laughed when James said no one was more surprised than he was at his progress and how well he's doing.
  5. I think she needs to pick Thomas and let the other guys go right away. He said he has lots of construction experience that was it for me. Imagine - eye candy and handy. If he can't fix something around the house he's likely to know someone who can either for free or to barter or at a decent price! The smug look on Drew's face at the rose ceremony needed to be wiped off. On a shallow note, his hair looks really weird. On a more shallow note, Thomas needs to get rid of the man bun and let his hair flow freely.
  6. I laughed when the guys got all pissy about someone with a rose spending more time with Jasmine. This is the first of these shows I've watched, but I do believe it's a competition isn't it? From the after show comments, it sounds like the guys don't get much time with Jasmine, so why wouldn't they try to get more? You should try to get to know the person you hoping to connect with and live the rest of your life with ... I couldn't type that with a straight face. I don't think these shows have a good track record for success do they? I've had several people try to defend Drew, but time and again, he says things that can be used for sound bites and that help make him look like a shitty human being. If you don't say it, it can't be used. I know everyone has a part to play thanks to "UnReal", but if you're not a gross human being then don't constantly play the part. So far Drew has no redeeming qualities.
  7. Thank you. I thought I was imagining that I saw him on DWTS previously. I don't think he lasted long though did he? Maybe that's why it's been omitted.
  8. I just started watching this and catching up on the threads for this. I used to work in a lab and can tell you that in order to draw blood for an alcohol level special procedures have to be in place. The area the needle will puncture needs to be cleaned with something other than an alcohol swab, the tube the sample is collected in has to remain sealed until it gets to the lab for testing, which means the tube is parafilmed and no other testing is done on the sample. Different tubes have different anticoagulants in them, so depending on the tests requested, there may not have been a correct tube taken. Blood used for typing and crossmatching is taking in a tube with a different anticoagulant in it than the tube for testing alcohol levels.
  9. Depending on what the contract says, they may all be out of jobs. Wasn't there a line about the emerg closing? If the nurses aren't out of their jobs, they may have to re-apply or take pay cuts when the new company comes in. I once worked for a place that took over a long existing contract and cut wages. The employees who didn't like their wage cut were let go and others who would work for those wages hired. The place I'm currently working in was sold last year and while my wages weren't cut, the other people working with me had a huge wage cut. The purchase was for the business and not the people in it. The new owners had to negotiate new contracts with everyone who worked here. Only one left, but it was over a wage dispute. Missed saying, so a raise might not matter as it may not come into effect right away, and if the hospital is sold, the new owners don't have to honour current wages.
  10. To me it looks like he's lost weight again. He did this a few seasons back and looked horrible so not sure why he would do it again? Here's hoping the weight loss is his choice and not a medical issue. I haven't noticed this in previous episodes since he put the weight or some of it back on and not sure why it was so obvious in this one?
  11. It is season three. Makes me sad as I've been reading it's the last one. No spoilers, but will say it's lovely having the guys back on my tv! Still looking great!
  12. Not sure where to put this, so will put it here ... new season has just started on Showcase here in Canada.
  13. For anyone who can access it, CBC ran the gala show tonight. It was run at 8:00 EDT so people on the west coast can still watch it if they want to.
  14. Thanks for the info. I still have this on my PVR so will watch it now instead of deleting it.
  15. Haven't watched the mens' long yet, but it sounds like it's one big jumping contest yet again. So boring. It really stinks to hear that Patrick is whining. He took a year off and now is complaining he's not top of the heap!? Seriously buddy - not cool! As for the pairs - watching always reminds me how strong and athletics these skaters are. Imagine lifting someone up over your head while on a thin sharp blade and moving along the ice! The women may look tiny, but they have to be muscular and fit to be able to do what they do. The men are strong and fit and overly bulked up making their strength even more impressive. While the age difference for the Chinese couple may be odd or creepy, it's not unusual as over the years some Russian couples have had the same thing. I think this happens when guys decide they don't want to retire but their previous partners have had enough. Sometimes they get "age appropriate" partners, but sometimes they couple with someone that can adapt to them vs trying to adjust from a previous successful partner. I believe Wenjing Sui was skating with severed tendons on one of her ankles. I hope she manages to have surgery and have it successfully fixed and doesn't suffer permanent damage. Imagine the pain and how much pressure she would have been under to skate here.
  16. CBC doesn't want her - thanks but no thanks. She usually does commentary with Rod Black on CTV. The two networks seem to alternate their coverage - not sure how it's decided. I've never noticed her having problems with names previously so now I'll have to listen for it the next time she's on with Rod Black.
  17. Heartbroken for Andrew and Kaitlyn. So very close and yet so far away. Wonderful performance by the Shibutanis. They should have gotten the gold - just my opinion.
  18. Totally shallow to start ... Kurt, you need to get rid of that stupid looking hat!!! Keeping my fingers crossed for Andrew and Kaitlyn. I may have a tiny crush (okay large crush) on Andrew. I haven't had a chance to watch the dance yet, but am looking forward to it. Good coverage from CBC today! As for the men, I may have to watch the long program. The short was exciting and unpredictable. Lots of surprises and few clean skates. Watching the Worlds makes me sad there aren't more head to head competitions throughout the year. It would be nice to see these competitors competing against each other more often instead of the Grande Prix circuit where some skaters may compete once or twice against each other and that's it.
  19. I don't think Alan learned the dance in two hours - although he may have. I'm fairly certain a few seasons ago it was mentioned that one of the troop learns the dances in case they are needed. I think various members of the troop are paired with pros they shadow and learn their choreography. We've watched various packages with troop members helping out at practice sessions etc. I think it's the equivalent of having an understudy for plays. Alan and Paige looked very comfortable together and neither one of them seemed to have any problems with the closeness they seem to have. I do feel terrible for Mark for his injury - backs can be very tricky and he obviously knew what had happened, so it's not the first time he's had this injury.
  20. The last season's DVDs are out. There are some behind the scenes things from this season which makes me happy, but it would have been even better to have the behind the scenes' stuff from the previous seasons as well. Re-watching I have to say I do like how things ended. It was a good ending especially if nothing else is ever filmed.
  21. Watching the second half and can I say what a cruel thing to do to Trent - taking him to task about his facial expressions. Keith was right on the money when he said sometimes Trent was thinking more about his facial expressions than singing. Rewatched the start of the show and while I know many singers come out and sing live, I'm fairly certain there are some who don't. Watching Kelly singing last week brought home how amazing and talented she is and that she's singing live and not lipsynching her performance. She showed everyone and not just the current crop of contestants how you continue and put on a show even when your emotions get the better of you. She's a trooper! Maybe that's why not much has been said about all the flu etc going through the singers? If you're going to be an entertainer, you need to suck it up and put on a show. I think I remember in seasons past some of the contestants had information shared about being sick/under the weather as excuses for horrible performances. If I hadn't read the comments on here I wouldn't have known some of the singers have been ill.
  22. Yes, Dalton wakes up with him guy liner on. He talked about this last week with Ryan and made me laugh when he did. What does he do when he's not on the show that his schedule is so regimented? He sounds as if his days are very scheduled and he doesn't deviate from them no matter what. Couldn't agree more about Demi! Wow, that was horrible!! I think they're starting slow with La'Porsha's hair. It does look like it's been dyed. Looking at the wings behind her made me think of Lucifer and took me out of the performance a bit. I've only watched the first half of the show so far, but have to say if the second half is as boring as the first half then everyone picked shitty songs and didn't perform very well. I dislike the song that Dalton sang so much that I switch the radio station anytime it comes on and ff'd through any performance that has appeared on my tv. He needs to go back to classics that are unexpected instead of trying more current and overused stuff. He should check out Jacob's performances on Canadian Idol and take some cues from that. If people are going to sing iconic songs with memorable parts in them, then they need to step up and make their version as memorable or better if they are going to change things up. In the first half of the show, none of the contestants had "a moment" with their iconic songs. I kept waiting for something/anything to say "wow, that's awesome" but was disappointed time and again.
  23. I cried along with everyone else who was crying when Kelly sang. Such powerful lyrics. I've watched her being interviewed on various talk shows and have to say she sounds like a really nice person. Came to the show very late so didn't see her season. I laughed and wanted to ask if Dalton hasn't been told he shouldn't sleep in make-up?! I do like that he's honest about how the look is achieved. Whenever I see La Porsha I keep hoping they have excellent security for her. She did say she's come out of an abusive situation. Here's hoping all the publicity doesn't bring the ex back into the picture with him trying to make things difficult for her. Here's hoping if she gets far in the competition the ex also doesn't try to get money from her or try to ride on her coattails for something. Am I imaging things or did Sonika take huge breaths in between the verses of her song? I adore the song and thought she did a decent job with it, but found it took something away whenever she took a breath. What kind of guitar does Mackenzie play? It looks like it's smaller than a regular guitar or maybe I don't know how big/small a regular guitar is?
  24. This is starting to irritate me too. Wouldn't logic tell you to get as close as safely possible to your suspect first and then identify yourself? Less change of buddy getting a head start on disappearing/running/escaping or having them shooting at people in a crowd situation.
  25. Initially I thought the friend was a plant and a traitor who was being used by Chuck to get info on Bobby. As soon as Bobby found out what happened I knew the friend was toast. Bobby vouched for him and that was the end of things. He did ask buddy how much their friendship was worth - that was the clue for me. I was pleasantly surprised that Bobby didn't take the singer up on her offer. What a departure from other shows. I wondered if he and his wife may have some kind of agreement about outside activities but it turns out he really is loyal and faithful to their marriage. Listening to Pete Decker giving his answers to Chuck made me realize just how careful and powerful Bobby is.
